Analysis of Hemohim Supplement Benefits

Hemohim is a patented herbal product touted to do boost the immune system reduce inflammation and basically build better blood cells. In this video let's look at the ingredients in Hemohim and the research and see what we can discover. okay so here are the ingredients in Hemohim courtesy of its supplement facts label. As we can see there is a moderate amount of basically B vitamins and vitamin C and below that there is a proprietary blend consisting of three different herbal ingredients that I really shouldn't even try to pronounce but nonetheless these are the key ingredients in Hemohim as i see it. All three of those ingredients add up to 10 grams with angelica gigas making up most of the 10 grams because it is listed first. Okay Hemohim ingredients aside what is the proof for Hemohim immune supplements? so we have this investigation of Angelica gigas, one of the key ingredients in Hemohim on triglyceride levels. In this three-month study, 100 people are given either a placebo or 1000 milligrams of angelica gigas each day. So what happened? So these researchers report that Angelica gigas provided a significant drop in both triglyceride levels and very low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels- bad cholesterol basically - compared to those who took a placebo. Now this would be expected to have a positive impact on heart disease risk factors. Hemohim has also been shown to reduce inflammation in the airways of mice that were exposed to cigarette smoke. Likewise, HemoHim has also been shown to reduce inflammation in rats as well. When mice that had cancer were given radiation therapy, HemoHim was shown to enhance the cancer-killing effects of radiation therapy. Also interesting is that when mice were subjected to radiation to see how long they lived afterwards, those mice getting HemoHim not only didn't die off as much as those who didn't get HemoHim but cells of their immune systems such as B cells and T cells and natural killer cells appeared to function better too. HemoHim has also been shown to protect the immune systems of mice that were injected with chemotherapy drugs, which often knock out the immune system. In addition to this HemoHim has been shown to improve the function of bone marrow cells called dendritic cells that play a crucial role in how well the immune system works. As we get older our immune systems tend to become less effective at battling infections. This is a phenomenon that is often called immunosenescence. Now to see if HemoHim might benefit the immune systems of older people, researchers conducted a study using young and old mice. Older mice were given HemoHim for three weeks. Those older mice taking HemoHim showed a restored production of interleukin-12, a powerful immune system substance and in addition to that HemoHim also corrected the age-related loss of cytokine production and natural killer cell activities. Now all this would be expected to lead to a more robust immune system response when infected. Almost 40 million Americans have diabetes which unfortunately continues to be a leading cause of death in America. When researchers gave HemoHim to mice with diabetes, the supplement improved blood sugar levels and insulin levels and also appeared to preserve insulin producing beta cells as well. So far however this has not been demonstrated in people. HemoHim contains a compound called methyl gallate which is thought to inhibit the storage of fat- at least in isolated cells. And while this may be encouraging for those who want to maybe drop a few pounds, so far there's no research on HemoHim helping people lose weight. Okay so after all that you're probably wondering are there any other HemoHim human studies? Glad you asked. So we have this paper appearing in of all places the International Atomic Energy Agency which involved 38 sub-healthy volunteers who had low white blood cell counts. These people were given HemoHim at either a dosage of 6 grams a day or 12 grams a day. Now while the results did not show a significant difference between 6 grams or 12 grams- in other words it didn't matter whether they took 6 grams or 12 grams of HemoHim - those taking the 6 gram dose showed improved natural killer cells in the men in the study - but not the women- and levels of cytokines, which are involved immune function, also improved as well. However, HemoHim did not improve antioxidant status or glutathione levels. Now one of the issues with this investigation is that it was published in 2006 and most of it is in Korean so it's difficult to find out how long the study lasted or more importantly for me whether the people who took HemoHim actually got fewer colds and flus. No doubt HemoHim has its share of clinical investigations but as you can see from this video, the majority of proof is on mice and in isolated cells and not humans. For me I'd like to see more human proof to get a better idea if HemoHim really works. What do you think? Until next time i am joe from supplementclarity.com. Take care.
