Tesla Model Y Juniper 2026 Overview

hey guys just driving the new Model Y here and I got to say the suspension is a night and day didn't they remove the right stock they did what i have owned the old Tesla Model Y for about 2 years and the number one complaint I have about it is its suspension and brutally rough ride that has you shivering on bumps so how much did Tesla improve it for the new one i will go over everything from the exterior and the interior also show you the new settings plus cover everything new from a driving perspective and by the end of the video I'll help you answer the question is it actually worth the upgrade or [Music] not moment is there we have the new Model Y Juniper the 2026 year not the 2025 despite the year being 2025 they actually released 2025 Model Y's and they're the older ones this however is the brand new one and we've got a tester here here's proof here's a card and uh well here proof is also it's back here so previously I've been talking a lot of about the stealth gray option but however on this new Model Y it just looks good i don't know what it is something about it it suits it quite well and my initial impressions when I saw the Model Y I was like it looks good looks good but now as time has passed on and I've seen it in uh Skip this up if I've seen it in person I got to say this looks 10 times better than the previous one previous one's still solid don't get me wrong but this right here this LED light bar makes it look mean it's not the headlights it's the daytime running lights the headlights are actually over here how do What do you think of the look i think the look is so modern it's futuristic i think it looks much better than the previous Model Y and one thing that really irks me is why is there a gap here i don't know why they decided to do that and then same thing over here there's a little gap now with the Cyber Truck and the Cyber Cab they somehow figured with it being a continuous light bar but they created a separation here uh not sure why they did that but you know what i'll do a thorough exterior review this is more of a driving review and now these are optioned with the free 19-in cross flow wheels and I think they look 10 times better than the 20-in Helix wheels which are pretty ugly in my opinion they actually remind me of the rims that the old Model 3 Performance used to have so they're kind of repeating here i think they should have its own identity but anyways these are the arrow covers which you can remove let me sacrifice your hands and get it dirty oh don't do it too much don't end up breaking it like this there you go there you go that was easier than I thought and then just like that that's how it looks without it this you can customize as you can add other options but you can also get uh bolts here to cover it and so it looks meaner but it depends if you prefer this look or if you prefer this look but to put it back on all you got to do is stick it back on line it up line it up line it up and then just do a little boom boom boom boom pretty simple to remove it a lot of people are asking how to do that you're welcome so now if you look to the side it looks like the old Model Y of course and over here there's a difference because it now has hardware four cameras versus hardware 3 and I think that actually does impact the kind of FSD drive that you do get which we'll test a little bit uh to see how that is but if you follow me to the back here this is where the iconic look happens here you see there is no longer the Tesla T tesla is written out and is now a reflective light bar which I'll show you keep keep on that i'll show you it turns on now if you look here there's no light actually on the back itself it's actually up top here and it's a reflective light and now it's a bit too bright right now but it's supposed to project a bunch of red light over here to make it look super cool and I'll show a little shot of it how it looks it's too bright right now but I'll definitely include it if you notice here there is no badge of the lawn series this is actually the long range all-wheel drive dual motor so you'll get the dual motor badge only if if you have the longrange all-wheel drive and they also have remove badges long range just like different badge systems now that they've added so I'll actually get an accurate uh measure of its performance versus the launch series which has the acceleration boost included this one goes faster by 0.2 seconds uh 4.8 seconds down to 4.6 so I may notice that but my old Model Y actually had the acceleration boost so it might be a little bit slower all good let's go for a quick drive now our tester came with the free black interior option which as you know I find a bit boring i much rather would get the white interior uh but in terms of the actual comfort of the seats I will say they're a bit firmer this time but it could be because they're new so that's a good thing or a bad thing and plus they were ventilated which is a bonus in the summertime but you may be wondering what are these new settings I was speaking of and then you want to go to dynamics and you'll see that there's two different options here chill if you don't want that much oomph when you're driving basically the acceleration is not as strong or standard that's the mode I I drive on typically so I'm going to leave it on standard now you'll see that they've added deceleration options reduced and standard and uh this option did not exist before it basically adjusts how quickly the vehicle slows down when the accelerator pedal is released so uh you know what i'll leave it at standard too make it uh consistent standard standard now traction control mode uh this applies to more scenarios when the road is slippery you'll see there's slippery surface and off-road assist we're not in those cases so you don't have to change those and standard weight field this is a personal choice i typically like heavy for a steering weight feel but you can leave it in standard if you don't like that or light but I'll leave it on heavy and to get out of park and drive all you have to do is uh What are you doing all right they got rid of the right stock so you have to So there's a different way to actually change your drive select uh so now you have to click the brake down and then move it up down reverse and P for park and if you're still annoyed of having to swipe the screen up and down up and down there's also the option up here it It's kind of dark right now but you click P you see you click it it lights up right now the P selected but you can hit reverse here neutral and drive but I don't think any normal person actually uses this the Prindle I believe they call it however there's a way around this so if you click the car icon again and hit dynamics go down auto shift beta and when I click on it will automatically change the drive for you so I think this is the solution if you don't like using this screen this is the solution to get out of it just hit on on auto shift beta so that's pretty cool so now when I press the brake down okay auto shift is not working am I not doing it right well maybe I didn't fast enough that's why now when you press the brake down you'll see for some reason the auto shift is not working maybe that's why it's in beta but basically it's supposed to I just did a test recently if I hit on Yes i'm going to press it break again there you go okay i don't know why it didn't work before but press break and you see how it auto swipe for you it automatically turned to drive so I didn't even have to swipe the drive button so now I can just drive so I think this is the solution here uh of if you don't want to be out here just swiping like a mad person um or just use the top but pretty much you're out of luck here but the left one is still there so now when I look at this look at the quality of the blind spot camera the color is a lot more richer it's a lot more saturated and the quality is better as well same with the left side click left as well the turn signal stock itself it feels a little bit cheaper little cost reductions kind of like an afterthought tesla's like "Hey you know what should we do it should we do it let's just put it on and and they decided to put it on cuz people so many people said "Hey please put the turn stock on." Because in Europe there's a lot of roundabouts and they said it was difficult to use your steering wheel with for the turn signal personally I don't have a problem with that i just don't like the screen swiping and my wife agrees with that she doesn't like the screen swiping so it's like that's a little bit annoying about this new Model Y but that I believe this auto shift kind of solves that whole problem of not having to swipe the screen and one more thing real quick if you want to use full self-driving you can do full self-driving and autopilot or you can use auto steer which is just the basic autopilot so other things to keep in mind I want to go over everything but um if you want your forward collision warning even in my old Model Y I kept it as medium and I still believe it does it pretty early if you feel uncomfortable if you want to be safer do early that's your own preference make your own call and now this new Model Y comes with adaptive headlights that pixelate different lighting areas and not blind oncoming cyclists or drivers so what do you think of the suspension so far it's very comfortable i feel it's already beating the old Model Y in a lot of ways i can feel that the cabin's quieter but the suspension I would definitely focus on is very comfortable it looks It almost is like an elevated feel 100% yeah just look at the lighting here i'm so happy we finally have ambient lighting so with this I'll actually show you i went into lights here uh lights and I'd hit on and I turned the brightness to max and when I did that it just pops a lot more before it was only auto but Tesla recently introduced this so that you can always keep it max on and I like it max on and I think just that alone really helps the interior pop in terms of how elegant and refined it is it's kind of like taking a page out of a Ben's right there like out of a Benz's books of like an ambient ambient lighting that makes the car look a lot more premium at night it's going to look ridiculous another thing so now we're in the black interior and one thing we're noticing here look at this material that they've added here i'm an ASMR content creator before they used to have this dated cheap wooden panel but now they've changed it to this felt material and it looks so much better than before i wish there was a way to customize it i'm sure the performance version when it does come out will be carbon fiber and by the way I do have news on that for the Model Y when it does it will it will be coming out this year both the new Model Y performance and the sevenseater lars and France confirmed this in an interview with Jay Leno they said it's going to be this year but you know Tesla tends to delay things it's not always on time now when it comes to the steering wheel it's there's a lot more happening versus the previous Model Y previous Model Y had two scroll wheels and that's all you got but now you see a flurry of buttons and little let's see if I do a little click here this one this top right it actually populates the camera and I think you can you can sorry push it up and it gives the rear and front oh let me click it again front click it again and it gives There you go this is the front new front bumper camera and now for parking this will be a game changer to make sure you don't uh scratch your front lip and uh so that'll be very important let's see if anyone's kind of let me in give him a little wave oh rejected give them a little wave give me a little wave wave no you see you got to force yourself in because they don't give it to you otherwise they don't let you in and now they've added this little icon that represents a washer fluid for your front bumper camera so when I click it I'm making it splash so that means you'll never get dirt debris just actually the remains of the washer fluid instead uh but it's good cuz in the winter time you get a lot of uh stains from the road so this will be really good for keeping it clean but however they're like you know what we're just going to keep it for the front for the rear there is no washer fluid they just kept it for the front so it's up to you to look between the dirt and figure that part out and now back to the steering wheel they have added these two inserts in the steering wheel here where your thumb can rest comfortably so I do like that the old Model Y did not have that so it kind of fits perfectly in your hands very nicely we're looking at a big chunky chunky speed bump so I want to see how well it absorbs it i am not even kidding i'm not exaggerating i didn't really feel that at all when I was when I'm in the old Model Y it's like it goes it goes crazy like it's disgusting every time your back your butt all starts throbbing and imagine doing that on a long road trip but this is smooth i feel like I'm in a very refined luxury car and I'm not just saying that people were saying it's 50% better oh little bumpier there 50% better is the accurate number i would say maybe even 70 it's much better like night and day difference so I will say that uh now in terms of road noise I agree there's a lot of things that are true so a good way to test the noise is there's a motorcycle right here so let's test out to see how good the cabin noise reduction actually [Music] is look at that it's like I'm in a library the noise reduction is much better and this cabin is a lot quieter look at [Music] that obviously it's still loud but it's way less louder than a Ford nicely improved reduction in cabin noise we're just going to do a quick sound system test because a lot of people were curious about how good the sound quality has been improved 15 speakers and one sub now of course it won't be the actual audio because it'll get copyrighted by YouTube [Music] immediately it does sound better but not significantly i was already I've already said for the longest time the old Model Y has a very strong sound system but honestly very similar uh what do you think i think it's very similar i couldn't tell yeah pretty same going to be honest pretty same but maybe 10% better if I'm really looking for it but yeah that's where I'll leave it now we're just going to test out the performance a little bit because uh like I said it's 0.2 seconds faster than the previous longrange allwheel drive finally it won't be inflated like the launch series which had the acceleration boost already built in this is just the base long range all-wheel drive uh so it's a true test of actual performance that I would be getting if I were to order today you cannot even order the lawn series anymore so keep that in mind unless someone decides to sell they're like "Hey you know what you keep it." Let's do a little rip uh ready ready i won't go too hard cuz obviously Ready ready go okay I'm trying to be mindful here you know i'm trying to go to isolated streets but um Oo pretty good honestly yeah but of course like I'll say like you know it won't it'll pale in comparison the performance obviously it's nice it's a it's a it's a smooth delivery of acceleration and and the power is continuous it doesn't fall off so that's always great and here comes a bump another check smooth like butter like like like butter like butter on a steak butter on a steak you know the best feeling when the butter melts on a steak that's you know it's going to be nice it's nice and hot it's ready to eat medium rare is the only good cooked i'm not going to go 0 to 60 but cuz that's it's not realistic who's going 0 to 60 on a car like this it's not performance car but like you know it's the power is there 4.6 to 60 you'll get what you need uh on doing your day-to-day drives it's a very good daily driver if you're looking for something more performance and if you want less than 4 seconds you can bet the new model performance will be less than 4 seconds if the acceleration boost is 4.1 so let's do a little bit here it's a little more isolated there's no people here let's do let's do from a standill okay ready ready 3 2 1 so dumbass moment guys uh um I forgot there was an energy drink here and uh now the cup holders are filled with liquid that we definitely have to clean prior to returning so uh not great and I and actually that's a good point to raise these are very loosey goosey cup holders look this can just move around and they're not very firm it's not secure you probably need like an aftermarket accessory obviously we'll clean it before we return it proof guys as good as new now I did get a chance to try the FSD which you can get for $99 a month or pay it outright but I'd recommend subscribing to it make sure you try it out if you're ever going for a test drive it's a must try so what's the conclusion is this actually a driving upgrade well from the new refined suspension the improved reduction in cabin noise you definitely feel like you're in a more premium Model Y it feels like a different car the exterior looks better and the interior feels a lot more luxurious it makes you feel how a car should and that's special beautiful very easy very simple and that right there ladies and gentlemen is a flawless 10 out of 10 parking job and that's it
