Useful Tricks for Colonoscopy Practice

Suction Mark Technique

• Indicator: Useful for daily practice in colonoscopies.

Steps:

1. Identify the suction mark at the pop.
2. Once the suction mark is visible, concentrate and position the PO (polypectomy snare) in a good position for resection.

Suction Sign Technique

• Purpose: To locate and manipulate lesions without losing sight of them.

Steps:

1. Instead of suctioning next to the lesion (to locate it again), suction directly on top of the lesion.
2. Actively suction while the nurse feeds the snare (NES) through the working channel of the endoscope.
3. This suctioning creates a pseudo pop — transforming the flat lesion into one that appears like a cile lesion, making it easier to manage.

Additional Tip:

• While advancing the snare down the working channel of the endoscope, the action will push the pseudo pop out.
• This is because the working channel will be filled with the snare, and the subsequent air pressure from advancing the snare will expel the pseudo pop.
