in Chapter two of tequila Mockingbird it's the end of the summer dill leaves to go back to Mississippi before the school year begins Scout is excited to start first grade after many days of watching schoolchildren from her tree house her first day however doesn't go as she hopes Scouts teacher Miss Caroline Fisher is new to teaching and new to Makem society when she finds out that Scout can already read and write she makes Scout feel guilty telling her she should not be reading at home with Atticus things get worse when Miss Caroline offers to lend Walter Cunningham lunch money Scott explains to her that Cunningham's don't take anything they can't pay back Miss Caroline gets so frustrated she makes Scout stand in the corner of the room chapter two captures what an observant and intelligent six-year-old Scout is Scout can read and write something her new teacher Miss Caroline does not appreciate as the story is from Scouts perspective we learned that reading came about as naturally as breathing for her another interesting part of this chapter is Scouts young and inexperienced teacher Miss Caroline and Miss Caroline's inability to understand the people of Makem we get our first indication of the social differences that divide the community you
