ICP vs. AO: Comprehensive Comparisons and Insights

hello guys Welcome To Zero to Hero today I have a very controversial comparison ICP versus AO the computer that claims to be the ICP killer why is this a very controversial comparison well simply because in their white paper AO the computer claims to be better than ICP in many aspects especially by running large language models AI directly on chain AO the computer is a project built on R weave and the second reason why it is controversial because in the definitive Forum we have seen a ton of discussion and comparisons between these two projects so it is fair to compare them but how Based on data charts metrics and indicators so stay tuned for that and let's dig deep into the rabbit hole okie dokie guys let's start by mentioning r with how many times in the last few months I did mention arve and I believe arve is really a good project because it does something that other projects do not do and because of the shortcomings of other projects like Solana ax near protocol Matic and so on and so forth therefore all these projects are enable to store data on their blockchains and they need to rely on a third party to do that that and which third party they have chosen they have chosen arwi why because of permanent file storage you pay once for the fees and your data will be stored up to 200 years on their system and because of the Perma web okay so let me show you that all these blockchains are already using rweb so Solana is using RVE as you may see here Avalanche is using RVE near Pro is using R they even mention onchain storage constraints what is the solution for them rwi Matic polygon adds permanent data storage with rwe integration therefore I'm bullish on RVE because rwe is simply used but why is it used because once again of the shortcomings of this blockchain as a comparison ICP can store data directly on the blockchain for a very low cost however in order to understand what we are dealing with first I'm going to compare a little bit arve with ICP and then we are going to move to AO the computer so first of all let's take a look at uh some relevant data cumulative transactions for AR 6.6 billion transactions if we compare this uh to ICP RVE is much better at the moment ICP has performed formed 12, 600,000 transactions since 2021 why is that so once again because AR is used by big players in the industry TPS uh if we compare uh the transactions per second um ICP and I will mention this in terms of metrics in terms of capabilities of the blockchain there is no better blockchain in my opinion compared to ICP just the problem is when once again the usage who is using it so TPS 292 that's not bad for RVE however compared to uh ICP almost 5,000 transactions per second that's basically nothing let's compare some other metrics uh transaction fees for AR this month monthly fees so 5,250 RW which equates roughly to two uh 140,000 for rwi what about the fees for ICP this month $114,000 in fees it is a big drop compared to the last month maybe it was 25 30,000 it does not matter still much lower once again be why because less transactions because it is less used than arve RV has a lot of users at the moment uh weave size how much data is stored you can see here 77 terab you can also compare it with a total canister state of 4.55 terab on ICP we can also compare the storage cost and the storage cost of ICP is incredibly cheap compared to other blockchains like Solana AVX near and so on and so forth but we have to stop comparing the cost of storage with other uh compe s and I call them competitors even if they're not like Solana ethereum ax and so on and so forth because they simply don't have the capabilities to store any data on their blockchain there are the those are their shortcomings this is why they're using RVE that offers a very low cost for their storage so 0.6 75 R weave per gigabyte let's say that this is around $20 uh per gigabyte however you paid the fee once and you don't pay it anymore on ICP you pay $5 per gigabyte however per year of course the cost of storage will drop and this is what RVE is playing on what's their trump card that they believe that the cost of storage will drop over time significantly and this is why they can offer such a low fee of course question is is this sustainable really in a couple of hundred of years okay let's now move on to the comparison with ICP you can see here $5 per gigabyte per year for ICP and let's compare also other metrics for ICP so ICP uh is performing more blocks than all other blockchains put together probably so um at the moment uh rwe has performed 154 blocks for the day even if we compare to some other days where it has a process 700 blocks it does not matter usually on average they perform uh a block every 2 minutes if we change this to the weekly or to the monthly chart doesn't change much so around 2 minutes what about ICP this is where ICP really shines ICP performs 45 blocks per second this is a huge difference and this is why I mentioned the capabilities of the ICP are day and night compared to other blockchains in terms of capabilities however I also comparing other metrics as usage okay and in terms of usage RVE now has a lot of traction compared to ICP however let's take a look active addresses the active addresses are lower than on ICP 853 active addresses versus 2,609 active addresses on ICP what about the total address count 211,000 addresses on RVE versus 2 million addresses on ICP and there are currently 2.5 internet identities on ICP of course there will be also the proof of humanity so we can prove that each uh internet identity belong to a real person which is great and it's something that I'm looking forward to let's now take a look at AO the computer there is not so much data because the project is just being launched at the moment so let's take a look at uh this post on the definitive Forum that caused I will not call it drama but it caused a lot of followup comments because there is a comparison ongoing between ICP and AO the computer many people uh mentioned here in this forum that ICP cannot even be compared to AO the computer that is far superior while some other people give it the benefit of the doubt and they believe that it could be compared to ICP so let's take a look and let's see what they mention in their white paper and why they think they're Superior to ICP so the internet computer protocol share some objectives with AO such as creating a decentralized verifiable computation environment however the mechanism and Architectural choices within ICP diverge significantly from those of AO leading to different operational paradigms and potent potential limitations as a huge limitation let's see what they mention here ao's governance is minimized resembling bitcoin's model where the network operates in a truly permissionless manner without the intervention of any controlling organization in contracts ICP employs a governance heavy approach where a dow can revoke participation rights and has the authority to deplatform any container it deems necessary this centralized control is a keen to a public company operated by its shareholders potentially leading to discriminatory practices against certain protocol uses well let me explain you uh this part here and what I believe really is the case and this is what the Security and Exchange Commission also mentions in uh the case of coinbase against the SEC and this is an argument why they believe ICP is security because of this element of centralization there is a certain element of centralization for ICP however this element of centralization is dropping over time and I believe truly that this project wouldn't have been developed without the definitive foundation and this is a matter of the fact so what they mention here in my opinion is a little bit too harsh however let's take a look at some other capabilities and here in this YouTube video AI on AO and I would advise to take a look it's very long to hours long I watched most of this and um here they mention basically that the reason why AO is superior and the reason why AO can run Artificial Intelligence on the blockchain is because of this capabilities so you may see 16 gigabyte again 4 gigabyte on ICP compared to ethereum and Solana that obviously cannot run anything cannot even store a picture on the blockchain uh their capabilities in my opinion still a very basic however AO mentions that they can run lm's large language models on the blockchain already already we shall see if this is possible however let's take a look at some other relevant data and metrics so what about this Artificial Intelligence on AO over the last few months we have uh made a number of key breakthroughs to accelerate IE on AO the computer full large language models running in inside AO smart contracts capable of making financial decisions wasm 64 support allowing to 18 exabytes of memory this is a huge amount of memory if this is really true uh this is very potent but however let's see at the protocol level we've Drive access to data on ourwe as a local hard drive in AO processes okay so they claim that they are better in terms of artificial intelligence and they can really run large language models on chain let's see some other uh things that they mention they also mentioned their tvl so ICP has been heavily criticized for the tvl so they mentioned that uh it's it has been barely 10 days since the toomics for the AO computer were released and the network has already massed a tvl of $400 million Us in uh ethereum is this really true is this really dvl well not really the reality is that they have amassed 4562 millions for now in ether however why is that so and how this compares to other blockchain if this uh really was tvl this would put them on place number uh 18 in terms of tvl uh above um Aptos above torchin above near above cardano do they really have a tvl so high that is comparable to these projects in the crypto space well the reality is that they need to deposit ether to acrew AO uh and basically um this is not available for people in the US at the moment but there is a use case therefore at some point all this liquidity will probably leave the chain and move elsewhere therefore there is a huge incentive now to do that so I would not really treat it as dvl at the moment because at some point this will just fluctuate somewhere else okay uh so let's take a look at the mechanics here of how to do that and why would people do that because simply for uh one eat they can get a yearly reward of 17.5 AOS and bear in mind that there are only 21 million AOS in uh Max circulation so uh 66.6% of AO tokens are minted to users that bridge their assets to the network simply connect your wallet deposit uh stake ethereum and earn AO and this is why basically uh they will do it uh and AO tokens will become transferable after 15% of the supply has been minted uh within approximation of this happening uh next year in February okay so we now understand where this tvl comes from what about uh their ecosystem so uh they have very similar narratives to ICP at the moment so meme coins we have meme coins on ICP games we have a bunch of games already on ICP social of course we have social media on ICP as well developer tools we have them defi we have defy Community we have it uh investment Bridge wallet AI block Explorer infrastructure Labs we have also metaverses there we have much much more I believe on ICP at the moment in fact if we compare this uh we can see that uh currently we have 264 projects in the ICP ecosystem well many people got salty simply because they claim hey what about chain Fusion what about cheny ethereum they have amassed 45 million worth of ethereum in 10 days while since we launched chank ethereum we have maybe only 500 chank ethereum on the blockchain at the moment I kind of disagree and agree at the same time I will tell you why I disagree I disagree simply because there is an event there is a huge incentive to uh add this liquidity uh for AO while for ICP currently there is not such an incentive so it is kind of unfair to compare it but there is also a good point that I believe chain Fusion should have much much better results and in my opinion the results of chain Fusion are currently disappointing I mentioned for chain qsdc I want to see at least 100 million chain qdc on chain everything less than that is a joke in my personal opinion I will be very harsh at the moment because I need to tell it not because I have no conviction in the project anymore I have very high conviction my conviction didn't change one percentage point however I need to constantly uh remind you of some issues capabilities of the ICP top tier top tier amazing there is no better than that in my opinion now AO claims that they can do stuff that they can do better we will see I believe if we take a look at the amount of canister smart contracts and the capabilities those are constantly improved and I believe that having a competitor at the moment for ICP couldn't be better for them because without a competitor they're constantly comparing ICP to Solana to avac to ethereum to all these blockchains that have zero capabilities to run anything on the blockchain directly and this is a matter of the fact however uh having competitors will be great because it will push them hopefully to Market their product better and to also develop harder which is in my opinion great and having a competitor once again I will repeat it could not be better at this moment for ICP okay so chain Fusion uh under $100 million for chank usdc uh in my opinion we shouldn't even talk about any kind of chain Fusion I want to see at least this amount of liquidity I want to see chanky ethereum increase and cheny Bitcoin however question is why would this increase why we need to have use cases on the blockchain people will not just randomly deposit liquidity on the blockchain for what for doing what so if we and once again this is not the best uh example and I know that many of you may be salty about that so teral Luna why their algor M stable coin had a market cap at 1 point of $18 billion simply because there were multiple use cases there uh people could use the stable coin on chain of course there was the problem that it was an imperfect algorithmic stable coin leave let's leave this all on the side now however the point is that there were use cases there were reasons to hold and to use this on chain therefore ICP needs to do the same let's move on now so uh key takeaways about AO the computer so AO computer call itself the hyper parallel computer it's a a very fancy name as it can run any number of processes in parallel AO computer can function as a traditional smart contracts platform and compute Network in addition to rwv as its base layer AO computer is divided into three sub networks AO tokens will be distributed to a hold ERS and okay US citizens cannot participate this we have seen already so what is really uh AO the computer it's a hyperparallel computer built on arve where it decentralized Computing environment allows for parallel executions this results in the scalability of AO being significantly higher as compared to existing blockchains in addition AO grants sovereignity and flexibility to Applications building on it this enhanced scalability makes it possible for AO to handle large data sets and Carry Out intensive computation typically required in artificial intelligence applications by building on RVE and having access to permanent storage AO can offer trustless computation verification more will be explored in future articles but an existing aspect to look forward to from AO is the possibility of embedding autonomous agents and large language models within smart contracts which is exactly what ICP uh is aiming to do as well okay let's now take a look at some of the benefits of AO so infinite scalability it is directly a possible for an infinite number of processes to be spun up on AO to be used in different use cases trustless computation and permissionless verification in AO all pre and post calculation states of processes are uploaded to rwe and are stored permanently any third party will be able to download the store data run the same computation and derive the same results this is known as permissionless verifiability this ensures the data is kept pristin and resilent against data tampering since all stakeholders within the AO ecosystem have access to store data on rwe there is no need for conern sensors on the final state of the computation since it will always be a consistent output from the same input and same execution environment this is known as trustless computation decentralized cloud service network AO parallel processing architecture makes it possible to share and exchange Cloud resources in its network resources including processing power storage bandwidth Etc can be shared across processes maximizing the user us of such results broad comp um composability of AO ecosystem AO is creating an execution environment where even nodes and validators of other networks can be hosted on their platform this is beneficial in AO goto market and ability to comp compute uh capture I'm sorry both Builders and users Plug and Play models for ease of building so there are many uh benefits at least they claim so what are the key characteristics parallel processing unbounded computation read and right to RW autonomous processes and modular architecture so I will not go through all these details here there a lot of technical terms uh however let's go through uh some of the toomics as well so we can understand the differences between ICP so a AO will unveil a brand new tokenomics model AO will have a 100% Fair launch with no pre-mine pre-sale or Priority Access total Supply is 21 million halving every four years so uh here there is something important to mention and I think they understood from the example of ICP and of course they did their own research because they're constantly comparing themselves for ICP uh that the biggest issue and the biggest mistake of the definitive Foundation was the very low price for seed investors and this is something that they will need to deal with for many many years to come until all these investors sold their tokens and offering them uh tokens at such a low price in my opinion was a mistake because simply they uh in next rounds the price for ICP was fair maybe one maybe $2 that's okay but 0.03 as for Solana it was the case 0.04 it's simply ridiculous in my personal opinion for such a project therefore uh on AO they're trying to fix this and they have no seed investors therefore potentially less selling pressure uh they claim that they will have a fair launch and that uh basically there is no pre-sale and that most of the tokens will go to the community which as a concept for many retail investors is very interested interesting because they do not have to be scared of potential sell selling pressure by Wales AO tokens will be acquired through a bridging with AO holding rwa tokens or participating in building the AO Network issuance and management of AO will be handled by a new nonprofit organization does this ring a bell to you based on the aforementioned mechanism okay um so all you need to know about the token launch it was launched on the 13th of June of this year so we mentioned already no pre-mine no pre-sale uh we mentioned already supply of 21 million tokens we mentioned already the haling every four years however the difference between the Bitcoin haling and the AO haling is that on the Bitcoin Network you have really a haling event every four years here the haling happens every month however the result of the haling is really that the rewards are Haled after four years however this process happens gradually from month to month therefore the effect is not as radical as within the Bitcoin Network okay uh so let's take a look at at this what they mentioned so 100% to the community they claim no teams no pre-sale no nothing everything to the community interesting concept let's see if this is true so uh this is their uh vesting schedule and you can see that it going to take quite a lot of time to invest all this 21 million tokens here actually at the moment there is around a million of tokens in circulation so uh 66% of the tokens or rather 33% of the tokens will be minted to RVE token holders according to their ownership every five minutes 2/3 of AO will be minted in the future for bridging assets into AO in order to powerful incentivize economic growth of course uh this is this sounds very interesting they also mention in here at the moment we have only 1 million tokens in circle which by comparison is much lower than ethereum Solana and xrp for example while that's true however they launched already and if you feel some kind of uh Panic for this new competitor I wouldn't feel any type of Panic or any type of feeling like that I think this is actually very very positive for ICP because it will push them to keep on developing and it will push them uh to have some certain deadlines for uh what they're building and developing and and especially um to get them to provide more results especially within the AI narrative which is of course as you have seen the main goal of AO the computer overall if we take in consideration uh the metrics for RVE uh the amount of hype RVE had this year and the amount of hype the AI narrative will have and this is why I did invest happily in r at around $5 it was ridiculously low and I did believe that R is a very good project and it was used it's used for years and this is why I invested even before knowing about AO the computer I have invested I believe in 2023 and this was maybe summer of 2023 where I bought like a a lot of rwe it's I believe around 1.5 or 2% of my portfolio at the moment still ICP is 10% of my portfolio simply because of the capabilities of the network however aod the computer I believe could have a fairly interesting run because of the tokenomics of no seed investors and of course because of the capabilities at least what they claim and it's all about the marketing what they can presis presents to the public if they will be able to run AI or not but this we will know in a few years when the bull run will be over probably and this is once again we are coming back to the same principle that I mentioned price action equals sentiment hype news while bright action does not equal development growth adoption usage and so on and so forth we have seen here by this example that in terms of capabilities ICP is amazing however in in terms of usage in terms of use cases in terms of transactions in terms of tvl in terms of marketing it has a long way to go of course ICP as an advantage compared to AO it has a very large team that has been working together for three years while this is just a project that is being launched at the moment therefore there are a lot of question marks for me about ICP there are not as many any question marks so actually obviously this is what I mentioned here usage blah blah blah all those metrics we can discuss about that if they will be able to attract institutional investors and so on and so on however based on the capabilities I understand fully the project I know what I can expect and what I cannot expect out of ICP while as for AO I will be researching I will keep on researching it's very interesting and this is why I mentioned guys asset allocation portfolio diversification If there really is a good project launching of course this might be worth exploring further this is what I'm going to do for AO and many other projects that I'm exploring at the moment as well okie dokie guys I hope this video helps you to
