PS5 Cleaning Tutorial

  • Cleaning brush
  • iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit
  • Canned air
  • Mini vacuum

Stage 1: Basic Cleaning

1. Removing Covers
   • Pull up on corners to remove covers
2. Cleaning Intake Areas
   • Locate intake areas on both top and bottom
   • Use cleaning brush to remove dirt/dust
   • Use canned air to blow off remaining debris
3. Cleaning Plastics
   • Loosen caked dust with a brush
   • Use canned air to remove loose dust
   • Clean remaining dust with isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloth
4. Optional Cleaning
   • Use small hoses for tiny intake holes
   • Regular vacuum may not reach

Stage 2: Intermediate Cleaning

1. Fan Disassembly
   • Remove a small piece and fan plate
   • Disconnect fan using pliers on white plastic
   • Lift fan straight up
2. Fan Cleaning
   • Use brush on fan blades
   • Use vacuum or canned air to remove dust
3. Heatsink Access & Cleaning
   • Access heatsinks through fan hole
   • Use brush to clean fins
   • Vacuum necessary to remove heavy dust
   • Relocate PS5 if it's picking up excessive dust

Stage 3: Advanced Cleaning

1. Full Disassembly
   • Remove top case, motherboard, and heatsink sandwich
   • Remove screws from disk drive and plastic mid-frame
   • Remove 41 screws from metal plate
2. Power Supply Cleaning
   • Clean power supply vent holes
   • Use brush and vacuum
3. Heatsink Detailed Cleaning
   • Tip PS5 and use brush in heatsink fins
   • Vacuum out loosened dust
   • Use canned air for loose dust
4. Reassembly
   • Work backwards from disassembly steps
   • Ensure all screws and cables are correctly installed
