Welcome everyone and thank you so much for listening in. We're here today to spend a little bit of time talking about EPCOR's water treatment plants and the shared outcomes and design principles. I have with me here today Audrey Kudrak who is our Director of the Edmonton Water Treatment Plants and I've got a few questions for Audrey today. So Audrey let's get started.
Why don't you tell me just a little bit about the two water treatment plants in Edmonton. Yes we have two water treatment plants in Edmonton, one in Rossdale and the E.L. Smith plant, which is located just below Cameron Heights neighborhood.
Both of the plants take raw water out of the North Saskatchewan River, treat it and pump out clean, safe drinking water that's just delivered to homes and businesses. These plants provide treated water for Edmonton and surrounding communities, which is almost a third of the province of Alberta. Over the coming years, we're expecting to have lots on the go at both the E.L.
Smith and the Rossdale water treatment plant. So as we plan this work, we want to ensure that we consider our neighbors and the environment while continuing to deliver safe and reliable drinking water to Edmonton and the surrounding areas. And so, Audrey, you've got lots on the go.
There's lots of planning happening. Tell me a bit how, what is a shared outcome and how does UPCOR use them? Yeah, so a shared outcome is a fancy way of saying the goals.
We commit that our planning for the water treatment plants will consider the following quality of life. safety, relationships, reliable, responsible, and sustainable, and the environment. But these goals are just one piece of the puzzle, and we know that each treatment facility and each community is unique.
And so with these unique communities and unique circumstances, I understand that then in addition to shared outcomes, we also have design principles. Talk me through what's a design principle. Yes, so as you mentioned, Kim, we've been talking to those around the Rossdale and E.L. Smith sites.
Since late 2020, to understand how we can operate and upgrade the plants moving forward, it's important to us that we do work at the sites in an environmentally and socially responsible manner that aligns with the community interests. We, in collaboration with the participants, have built a series of design principles for the Rossdale and E.L. Smith sites. These will define how we'll meet the goals. You can find more information about the design principles for each of the shared outcomes in the other videos.
And thanks so much, Audrey, for giving us this brief overview. Everyone, we encourage you to check out more videos. You can see the website on the screen right now.
Thanks so much for listening.
