So hello guys welcome back to our YouTube channel Learn With Gigs. Today this is part 4 of our video series where I will be focusing on the questions that are being asked from the Power BI service section. But before that I would recommend you all to see the first three parts. You will trust me you will learn a lot through those videos also.
So let's start the video without wasting any time. Security, tell me the difference between user principal name and user name DAX functions. So this is a very common question asked.
I think in almost every interview this question is asked. So how to answer this question? So row level security is a way to restrict our data on the basis of logged in user.
In this way you can answer what is row level security. You can mention one more point. that we can have two types of row level security static row level security as well as dynamic row level security so in this way you can at this point also now comes the difference user principal name and username so user principal name so user principal and shows the username of the currently logged user in both power bi desktop and service means if you are testing any role on power bi desktop then also it will show the correct credentials and on service also it will show the correct credentials. But if I talk about username, it will show the desktop name on Power BI Desktop, but it will show the correct credentials on Power BI Service.
So we can use both the functions, but the preference will be user principal name as on Power BI Desktop as well as on service, it shows the currently logged in user credentials. So in this way you can answer this question. Let's move ahead with the next question.
What is the difference between Power BI Pro and Premium License? Power BI Pro is basically the license used by the developers. Power BI developers who develop the reports and publish it to the Power BI service. They can leverage all content creation and interaction features. So they have that ability.
Now if I talk about Power BI Premium, it is a licensing based on dedicated capacity and the content can be viewed without additional per user cost. So it is basically a license backed by the capacity. So in this way you can answer the difference between Power BI Pro and Premium.
What are data flows and why do we want them? So data flows are the live queries that run independently within the Power BI service. So in this way you can answer what are data flows.
Now why do we want them? We want them as we can reuse these queries across multiple desktop or service reports. The first one.
Second one is that we can run ETL processes on a specific schedule. So with the help of data flows, we can do this also. And at the end we can integrate, transform and enrich our data.
So in this way, you can answer this question. Let's move ahead with the next question. Gateway and explain its types. So data gateways basically act like a bridge creating a connection between data on our local machine or server and the Power BI service.
That means it is a bridge. correcting our local machine with the cloud that is power bi service if i talk about the types so we have two types personal mode gateway and the enterprise mode gateway for personal mode gateway you have to mention that it can be it can only be used by us can't be used with other apps or services and only supports scheduled refresh in power bi and if i talk about enterprise mode gateway it can be shared and used by multiple users can be used by power bi power apps flow etc It supports scheduled refresh and live queries in Power BI. So in this way you can answer about data gateway and its types.
So let's move ahead with the next question. The last question from this section, what are the different access levels that one can have in a workspace? So we have to answer like this that we have four types of access levels, admin, member, contributor and viewer.
So if I talk about admin, the person owns or manages the workspace like he or she can create or delete that workspace with full control over other members in that workspace. So we can answer like this for the admin if I talk about member. So basically the developer of the report has the member access having capabilities of doing modifications sharing report through apps managing the gateways and many more also member can give contributor and viewer access while adding new people in the workspace. Now if I talk about contributor so contributor contributes by doing modifications if any and publishing the report to the service, he can only give viewer access to the new people added to the workspace.
So we can answer like this. Now if I talk about the last access level that is viewer, so the business or the end users are given viewers access who can only view the report shared to them. So they can't do any kind of modification. They can only view the report and do the analysis.
Thank you for watching the complete video. I hope you all are learning a lot through my videos. Please subscribe to my channel if you haven't and stay tuned for the upcoming videos. The upcoming videos will be focused on the DAX section.
So stay tuned. Thank you.
