what's up YouTube family hope you're doing incredible darius Daniels here if you're tapped in for the first time I want you to know we're honored to have you on this platform i hope it becomes a source of trusted spiritual nourishment for you and for yours to watch a message that was a part of what we call old school Sunday at change it was done in our change church gwinette location and um it is a Sunday where we um commemorate and celebrate a rich history in terms of expressions of church that many of us grew up in down through the years and so this message is called When a Goat Rides a Donkey uh in celebration of Palm Sunday speaking of Palm Sunday Resurrection Sunday is coming up really soon depending on when you're watching this and if you're anywhere near the Atlanta area or if you're not afraid of a plane train automobile join us at Georgia Tech for Easter in the City at the Mckameish Pavilion 9:00 a.m or 11:45 a.m i hope to see you there enjoy the message um let's go on this Palm Sunday let's go to Matthew chap 21 verse 6-9 oo I'm hot um this a lot amen amen take a picture this might be the last time amen matthew 21 verse number 6 it says "The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them they brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on and a very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road." The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted "Hosana to the son of David blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord hosanna in the highest heaven i want to stop the reading of scripture there and talk from this subject on this old school Sunday the topic of today's teaching is very simple simple when the goat rides a donkey clap your hands everybody everywhere family this Palm Sunday passage is a powerful picture of a profound principle that can be captured in the following phrase for my notetakers here it is your ability to arrive at your desired destination is determined by your willingness to handle unusual transportation wow your ability to arrive at your desired destination is determined by your willingness to handle unusual transportation god will take us to uncommon places using uncommon means this text is a powerful picture of this because Jesus who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords does not ride into Jerusalem in a chariot he rides into Jerusalem on a cult god takes him to an uncommon place with some unusual transportation and what Jesus did in his riding the donkey was a revelation for you and I family this rabbi this mentor this guide this goat isn't just riding a donkey just to ride a donkey this this picture in this passage wasn't just a picture that's a moment from Jesus's life it's a model for our lives if the goat had to ride the donkey wow so do we set it up it is illogical unreasonable presumptive to assume that the one who is teaching me mentoring me guiding me leading me had to ride a donkey and I don't pastor what do you mean ride a donkey the donkey family is a metaphor for the unusual method of transportation that God uses to get you to his desired destination the donkey represents the unusual method of transportation that God uses to get you to your desired destination the donkey family represents something that I think is unpredictable uncomfortable and uncommon it is unpredictable uncomfortable and uncommon it is unpredictable uncomfortable and uncommon a donkey is unpredictable riding a donkey is uncomfortable and you riding a donkey instead of a horse is uncommon but you can't compare your mode of transportation to somebody else's transportation god knows what your ride needs to be like to get you where he's trying to take you and you ought to be excited and ecstatic and that you get there your testimony should be if it's a bike a scooter a big wheel a tricycle a skateboard any way you bless me I'll be satisfied and there are many people who don't get to where God is taking them because they can't handle the way God has chosen to taken them take them there are people who cannot get to destiny because they keep jumping off the donkey the donkey is the predetermined providential mode of transportation that God has chosen for you and the enemy wants to use the discomfort of the donkey to derail us from our destiny but God wants to use the donkey to develop us for our destiny because where God's taken you requires development and God uses the unpredictable the uncomfortable and the uncommon to develop you he says "I could have got you there teleporting you there but teleporting you there wouldn't get you ready for what's waiting on you when you get there so I'mma use the ride there to get you ready for what's waiting on you there and you can't complain about the ride when you do not know what's waiting on you when you get there and do you trust God enough to know that he won't take you a certain way if the way is not getting you ready for what's waiting on you and the reason we have an epidemic of crash outs because people didn't take a donkey to the destination their gift took them there not the donkey their connections took them there not the donkey their plugs took them there but not the donkey so because they didn't ride the donkey they get to the destination underdeveloped so they haven't been conditioned for the conditions that are waiting on them the donkey gets you ready y'all aren't talking to me the donkey gets you ready for what's waiting on you when you get to where God is taking you the donkey primes you for the persecution the donkey conditions you for the chaos the donkey is what cultivates your confidence so that by the time you get to Canaan land and all you got to do is fight some giants you start remembering how he split a Red Sea you start rem Come on here you start remembering how he split Jordan River and so if he got me through that he can get me through this see the reason David wasn't afraid of Goliath is because David had rode the donkey what's the donkey the lion and the bear when he got ready to fight Goliath the Bible says he's testifying that a lion and a bear came yes sir to devour my father's sheep and I defeated the lion and the bear and the same God that delivered me away from the lion in the back is the same God that will deliver this Philistine into my hands if you will let God develop you by the time you arrive at your destination you won't be in fact infected with intimidation when you facing dilemas cuz you have been through so much by the time you get there you can look at this situation that's staring you in the face and say "The same God that carried me in 2024 the same God that carried me in 2023 the same God that carried me in 2022 you're going to carry me right here you need the donkey not to choose the donkey is to choose a crash out this is why so many people who are winning are losing wow wow however you define success success is easy what's hard is being successful with success you don't even have to master life to be successful you have to master a skill yes sir but the the development of the craft has nothing to do with your character and the strength of your character is what's going to determine whether or not you crash out under the demands that people put on you because of your gift and God says "I need the donkey to cultivate your character so you don't crash up." Cuz Thursday you going to feel this thing they They missed it i was I'm I'm hovering over the text pastor i'm I'm over the narrative it's implicit but not explicit it's biblical language i'm not just using the language from the Bible yet thursday's coming you got th Thursday's coming thursday is when the reality of the crucifixion sets in for you in the Garden of Gethsemane and that reality of the crucifixion creates such a degree of anxiousness that you start sweating great drops of blood you start reconsidering what you previously committed to come on here there's a pressure that will make you renegotiate terms with God if it be possible let me go to this side who's going to help me preach if it be possible remove this cup from me but development will get you to the other side of that prayer where you'll say "Nevertheless Not my will but yours be done you need the donkey you're going to crash out and I think what happens and one of my mentors Pastor Jacob uh from Lafayette hit we were we were talking about something he said Darius I think a spiritual leader had fell or something and he said "Darus here's the problem." He says "When something like that happens we say a crash out happens we look at them and say what they should have done as opposed to looking at you and saying "What do you need to do?" So I think when we see these crash outs of spiritual leaders and crash out of cultural influencers we judge and label them weak as opposing as opposed to asking what about those conditions are making people crack can I can I just be Can I be bishop you think you're ready but you're not you don't know what's waiting on you so he's like "Let me take you through the unpredictable and the uncomfortable and the uncommon so you don't crash out cuz I'm not obligated to revisit that season for you i will have mercy on whom I will have mercy i can give multiple chances but you don't know who gets them this might be one shot or this might be your last one n I don't know what's cuz if we honest we had a few let me go to this side come on come on come on here i said we honest we've had a few and God's not now now wait a minute i want to get you conditioned for the conditions i got to go i got 10 minutes here it is here it is here it is if you're going to be goatated family you must not only submit to where the goat is taking you but you must submit to the way he's taken you yes sir very few things happen fast for people without crash outs just think about it then decide if you agree think about it because the character hadn't had time to develop and for some of you God is loving you enough to be able to sit with your agitation and say "I'd rather you be mad at me." Yes sir because it feels like I'm taking too long yes sir than for you to be destroyed because I did it too fast so go ahead and pout you're going to praise me later go ahead and cry you're going to thank me later go ahead and fuss you're going to appreciate it later crash out but I got good news i know i got on my Pentecostal robe i wore a Baptist robe at 8:30 i said I got good news church jesus in the text not only shows us that we're going to have to ride our donkey he shows us how teach us the goat rode a donkey ah and by doing so he shows you how to ride yours so there are four things you have to handle if you're going to properly handle when God takes you through the unpredictable the uncomfortable and the uncommon yes sir cuz that is the only way you get development number one the first thing I see in the text we got to handle is we have to handle the paradox of the palms the paradox of the palm the text says as Jesus is making his entry into Jerusalem people cut down palms from trees and lay them on the road for Jesus to ride on and laying palms on the road and waving them was a festive act of honor and welcome and there are there are conflicting theories about where this practice comes from some attributed to Greco Roman practices some say it originated with a revolt led by uh one of the leaders of the Mcabes but in in every case it was akin to the rolling out of the red carpet it was a sign of honor and respect and a symbol of victory and triumph here is the irony here's the paradox about the palms the same people that were placing palms down on Sunday were the same people in the same week that were saying persecute him they said hosana in the beginning of the week but crucify him later in the week and they are angry at him because of misplaced expectations they put on him when Jesus rides in on the donkey they see his movement but they don't understand his mission and if I had time I would deal with that because there are some people who like your moves but they don't understand your mission see see there these people in the text are shouting hosana because they're thinking he's coming to take a throne but he's actually coming to carry a cross they wanted a political liberator but he's coming as a sacrificial lamb and they are cheering him based on what they think he's about to do and when he doesn't do what they think he's about to do that he never told them that he would do they become upset with him about not doing it which teaches us some people will crucify you for not becoming what you never claimed to be see he said "I I got to use the donkey to get you conditioned to dealing with disappointment from people who have misplaced expectations of you." I I got to listen to this he says "I got to get the donkey to get you used to people who will be disappointed that you not what they thought you were even though that's not something you ever claimed to be." Wow i want to get you ready to deal with the disappointment that comes when people want you to be a liberator but God's called you to be a lamb wow he says "I want I want you to be conditioned to be ready to deal with the disappointment that comes from people when they realize you actually meant what you said to them in the past." Cuz if you actually listen to Jesus in the past he was very clear his kingdom was not an earthly kingdom he was very clear my kingdom is not of this world but it's some stuff you saying to people they don't believe it till you do it and and then all of a sudden did you hear what I said you've been saying "It's the last time it's the last time it's the last time." And then when it's finally the last time they offended that it's the last time but I've been telling you it's the last time and now you upset because you actually see I meant what I said and some of us not ready for that you won't let people own their own disappointment i didn't disappoint you if you had misplaced expectations on me you disappointed yourself you upset with me for a commitment I never made i never said I will be that for you do that for you or be or do that this long you expected that and many you're not conditioned to deal with persecution that comes from people who are upset that they can't control the way you use your power come on now no you you you king you need to you need to set us free you need to come on you need to upset with him cuz they can't control how he uses power yeah that's what's waiting on you in Jerusalem he said that's why you need a donkey cuz you going to bed with they disappointment boy I don't even have time to deal with this they got misplaced expectations so you got misplaced guilt guilt doesn't mean right you missed it just cuz you just cuz guilt is real don't mean it's right sometimes you guilty you ain't even wrong you feeling guilty y'all y'all not talking to me if I had time I'd take you to Titus where Titus says "To the pure all things are pure but those who are not even their conscience is defiled." So your conscience needs renewing your conscience isn't the spirit the spirit can use your conscience but your conscience is unrenewed so as your mind is renewed so is your conscience cuz when your conscience is not renewed you can feel good when you're doing bad or you can feel bad when you do it good you told them no and you feel bad about telling them no they needed to hear no that's why you need the donkey because of the paradox of the palms see those of you that are extraordinarily gifted this I feel like a spiritual professor X sometimes come on here we the ex-men and women in here this Listen to me those of you that are uniquely gifted you got to be conditioned to not being unwise but you're going to have to be conditioned to being used cuz if you were not as good as you were some people would not be as close as they are that's just a fact all right and it doesn't mean they wrong that's that's the consequence of the gifted so when you have discerned those that are in your circle because of who you actually are and not because of what you contribute you got to make sure that those people who mean the most to you don't get the least from you cuz some people are only doing good to you because you are good and if you're only doing good because you aren't good you still may you may love me but you're still using me cuz when the gift leaves so will you i don't hear anybody talking back to me the paradox of the palms if you're not ready for that Jerusalem will crush you that thing you praying for will cause you to crash out blow it all set yourself back ruin your name paradox of the palms i'm done tario maybe I'll hoop the next service number two Holy Ghost is ministering right now the the precision of prophecy right you're going to have to be convinced of precision of prophecy see if you read what Matthew says here he talks about what happened with Jesus was so that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled what prophet the prophet Zechariah who said in Zechariah chapter 9:9 "Rejoice greatly oh daughter of Zion shout aloud O daughter of Jerusalem behold your king is coming to you righteous and having salvation is he humble and mounted on a donkey on a colt the fo of a donkey." Listen to this this is 500 years before this event actually happened zachchariah prophesied this 500 years so for 500 years God kept a word and when it came to pass it was precise it was exactly what Zachchariah said zachchariah said "It's going to be a donkey and a cult." And what Jesus came in on was a donkey and a cult because if he promised a donkey and a cult and you just got a cult he not finished yet if he promised a donkey and a colt and you just got a donkey he's not finished yet because he's precise he says in Jeremiah chapter 1 verse number 11 he says the word of the Lord Jeremiah said the word of the Lord came to me and said "What do you see Jeremiah?" He says "I see a branch on an almond tree." And the Lord said to me you've seen correctly now I'm I'm running a program now called Uncommon Calling i just got through filming this um this teaching on prophetic integrity cuz this prophetic stuff is crazy now and it's because there's like spiritual narcissism disguised as confidence and conviction about a word i know what the Lord told me i know no no no you should have prophetic epistemological humility cuz even when God is speaking to you he is not speaking to you he's speaking to your filter what he says is right it doesn't mean you hear right so revelation that's what he said but interpretation that's what he means and some people get those two things confused i know what he said but that don't mean you know what that meant jeremiah what do you see an almond tree that doesn't mean I want you to plant a tree so the Lord confirms you're seeing right just cuz you see it doesn't mean you see it correctly so you need prophetic ep so when I see the arrogance that comes from those that say they got prophetic gifting I'm like just cuz you're seeing don't mean you seeing correctly i see the tree that doesn't mean I know what it means but watch what he says he says "I'm watching to see that my word is fulfilled." He says "I not only speak a word I watch it i watched that thing i spoke it in Zechariah." And after 50 years I was still watching it and when something looked like it was going to happen to stop the fulfillment of my word I intervened temporarily into the affairs of human history you call it a miracle and then I I addressed the threat to the fulfillment of my word and then I stepped back into eternity and watched it and every time something got ready to happen that was going to threaten my credibility and my ability to perform my word I would intervene into the affairs of human history I would stop it block it and I'd step back out and I would watch it and so I don't care what is coming your way what seems to be disrupting the path God has you on you need to know your God is not only speaking he's watching and when something starts to threaten his ability to bring his word to pass he intervenes he says "I'm not just going to do what I said i'm going to do all of it all of it all of it if I showed you 11 sheav bowing down Joseph and it's 10 brothers standing in front of you don't you settle for 10 when I showed you 11 ask him "Where's your brother?" Go get him precision you going to handle this donkey you got to handle the paradox of the palms and you got to be confident in the precision of pro prophecy because it's going to be a lot of stuff that look like what he said ain't coming to pass and then number three you're going to have to manage the priority of praise now I'm getting ready to do a series i think I'm doing it i don't know June i think I'mma changing it i'm I'mma call it alterations i like it you get altered at the altar so in the text Jesus is coming into people saying uh hosana which is an expression of praise and then people start telling those people to be quiet and Jesus said if they were to be quiet the rocks are going to cry out yes I'm going to get praise from what I created not because he needs to hear it we need to do it cuz here's what praise does for you praise eases your anxiousness because praise requires mindfulness my God cuz you can either praise a problem or God not both so praise requires you to fill your mind with the goodness and grander of God so the psalmist says when you when you're praised you magnify God magnify doesn't make God larger it makes your view of God larger and what you anxious over is not your situation it's the way you viewing it the issue is not what you looking at it's how you looking at it when you magnify God though God gets bigger and the problem gets smaller so when you pray you talking to God about your problems but when you praise you talking to your problems about your God he's great he's mighty he's a way maker he's a will in the middle of the wheel he's the rose of Sharon he's the lily of the valley so even though even though their expectations were misplaced yes sir they were praising based on the expectation so the expectation was misplaced but the praise was right because they were praising based on the expectation y'all missed it they were praising him when he was riding in he hadn't done it yet he was on the way they were praising him while he was on the way he rode in on a hallelujah y'all missed it we got to go he rolled in on a hallelujah he hadn't even got there yet but before he got there they were already praising him is anybody expected God to do something in your life don't wait till he gets there now may we see you next week yes sir at Georgia Tech but now may the Lord God bless you and keep you may he cause his face of favor to shine up on you may he be gracious to you may he protect you may he provide for you and above all else may he grant you peace this is my prayer for your life in Jesus name amen well family listen I hope you were blessed and encouraged by that word and um as always I got one request if it blessed you would you share it with somebody else just just help us get the word out and if you understand the importance of sewing back into the field that you're harvesting from ways to give are on the screen take care god bless
