Overview of Great Lakes Dental Assistant Program

[Music] dental assistants complete clinical and administrative tasks in dental offices they are versatile professionals that work under the supervision of dentists at great lakes students learn everything they'll need to know to begin a career as a dental assistant students begin by learning dental terminology and anatomy of the head and neck they will then learn about team positioning dental instrument identification and use and methods of anesthesia and pain control students will also be able to execute chair side digital charting billing and coding students will also learn dental radiography and how to produce x-rays using cutting-edge handheld radiographic technology students will learn how to assist in restorative dental care such as crown and bridge restoration as well as cementation of cast restorations students will also learn about dental specialties such as orthodontics oral surgery pediatrics endodontics and periodontics dental office procedures and financial management of a dental practice is also covered including insurance procedures and claim submission students complete their education with an externship the student will receive on-the-job training in a dental practice or clinical environment the student will be evaluated based on hands-on abilities professional behavior and knowledge of the field students will have the opportunity to earn a number of different certifications they can also grow their career after working in the field or by obtaining additional training by becoming a certified dental assistant or by becoming an expanded function dental assistant call 864 66 to learn more about our dental assistant program and schedule a tour
