hey welcome to this history Master Class I'm Mr salaris and today we're going to learn about the rise of Shogun in Japan okay during the time when Japan was under the rule of the Emperor who was the Supreme governing official areas of land called provinces were governed by a clan Chief a clan was made up of people living in that Province within that clan people were part of different social groups such as the samurai or The Peasants there was often conf which occurred between these Clans over resources land and political rule today we will focus on two of these Clans which were probably the most important in changing the way that Japan ran at that time these two clans were the tiata and the MiniMoto people they became powerful by supporting factions which are groups that have certain interests in the emperor's Court in 1185 the chief leader of the MiniMoto Clan MiniMoto no yo formed a type of government called a military government a military government is one that's run by the military forces of a Nation he set this up in the town of Kamakura what MiniMoto did was called the Kamakura bofu bofu means a tent government meaning that it was only meant to be temporary in uh in 1192 MiniMoto noo went to the Imperial Court with the goal of having having his position as military leader of the country recognized he wanted his position to be titled as SE shogan which means barbarians seducing great general yoro made an arrangement with the court that meant the emperor would stay the figurehead of the country and receive some protection but as but he as Shogun would have power over the Nobles in the country the shogun's role was to speak for the emperor however this was not always the case particularly when the shogun's interests were different from that of the emperor okay so what have we learned today we learned that Japan was once ruled by an emperor who was the supreme ruler of the country the Kamakura bofu uh brought about a change in the way that Japan was ruled uh the emperor would no longer have significant power in say over Japan as this job was replaced by the Shogun the emperor would still be a feature of Japanese rolling system however not have the same power as he once did hey thanks for watching make sure you stay tuned for our next video on the feudal system uh in Japan during the Middle Ages hey thanks for watching my name is Mr salagaras make sure you subscribe to my channel like the video and most importantly watch it again of those points that you missed
