How to Recharge the AC in a Kia Optima Hybrid

[Music] today we're going to learn how to recharge the AC in your Kia Optima Hybrid most Kia since 2013 use r1234 YF coolant this one comes with a digital gauge which is quite nice but an analog one will do just fine first you need to install these two Smart Clips they change color to indicate that you got cold air as you can see here they have a pretty neutral color which indicates that the air is not very cold now turn on the engine and let it run for about 10 minutes so that you get enough compression set the AC to Max and circulation turn off economy mode and turn down the temperature to the lowest setting now it's time to pop the hood look for the excess Port labeled L this is the low press Port you cannot recharge your system through the high pressure port important always wear safety gloves as the system can get pretty hot please make sure that you buy the right one the r1234 YF coolant is different from the r 134a coolant that was used in earlier models attach the hose adapter by pulling back the coupler ring make sure you have a tight fit then check the reading on your pressure gauge this one is very low it should be at at least about 50 psi depending on your ambient temperature keep adding refrigerant until you have reached the desired level today is a pretty hot day almost 97° therefore I'll go with 55 PSI as listed on the table when you're finished just unplug the hose and screw the cover back on the port that's it now we got cold air again the indicators are blue for cool and green for Max cold indicating that we successfully recharged our AC system if you found this video helpful please hit the like button
