Celebrating May Revolution Day in Argentina

[Music] Hello everyone and welcome back to another Bonocidis vlog. This weekend we are celebrating the 25th of May in Argentina which is known as May Revolution Day. It celebrates the May revolution and it also celebrates the first actual government of Argentina. We have a weekend full of fun activities and we're starting our day off today in Ralleta. [Music] to talk about the prices here. We all know that these types of fas and things like that are always like a little bit more expensive, but I always kind of joke around on the vlog when I see a chy pond for like 10k, I'm like, I'm not paying that. But I saw multiple chies for like 16,000 which is a little bit crazy. I'm not going to lie. It's a little bit [Music] crazy. We're currently walking through Laia. There looks like there's a lot of good food and we came early so there's like no line. Oh, this is this is [Music] like I think I finally figured out what I want to eat. There's a lot of like patriotic food obviously here like chip pan lro empanadas bondiola sandwiches pasitos all the good stuff but I think we're going to try something that we've been wanting to try for a very long time. We've just been craving these for some reason. We never actually bought a sandwich like this. Obviously we make our own sandwiches but it looks so good. Bread is hard to chew but it's still really good. It was two for seven meal which is actually a pretty good price. It's like $6.50. I got salami with cheese just on bread that just feels so good. It really feels so good. A little bit empty, but this for 3,500. Good start to the [Music] day. And we are also on our way to try one more item that you guys have recommended to us a million times, which is something we are really excited about and I hope we really like a lot. [Music] It's very packed. It was a real raw reaction. It attacked me. I'm just happy to have my life. Yeah, it was really good. This is a carne suave baked. They asked us if we wanted it fried, but we went baked. That's surprisingly good. Like really good. I was just telling Michael that I love like when you have a flowery product and like it shows up on your fingers. Like I like the feeling of the flower. It's a very homemade type deal. This one empanada costed us 4,000 pesos, which is like $3.50. [Music] We walked over to La Feria de Recoleta. And it's been a little bit since I've been here, but it's very cute to like walk around. So, if you haven't come here, I definitely recommend it. But the only thing I can think about while we're walking around here is the empanada that I just tried. I literally cannot stop thinking about it. It was so so, so good. [Music] I always love walking through Fedas because it's always so interesting to see how artistically talented and creative people are. I never used to consider myself to be like creative in any way because I'm not good at drawing. I'm not good at painting. Like that stuff does not come natural for me. But when I started to do YouTube, it like unlocked a new form of creativity for me. So, it's very interesting. But like the handmade stuff, the paintings, like all that here, it impresses me every single day. [Music] I feel like last year I never had one of my US holidays line up almost so perfectly with the Argentine holidays, but again we are like double lapping on a US and Argentine holiday as this year Memorial Day is on the 26th of May. And here in Argentina, you have Revolution Day on the 25th of May. So, it's like the day after we're on vacation again, another fid. When Michael and I went to Mardo Plata, we were debating a lot between bringing Max and Poco with us, like on public transportation. And one of the bus companies here is right behind us. I don't think you can see them, but it's called Fletcher Bus. And if your dog or cat or pet is under like 12 kg, you can bring them on the bus with you and travel around Argentina. So I think that's very helpful for people who have small pets. We ended up not doing that because Max is just a little bit too chunky and we couldn't do it. But with Poco, we definitely could have [Music] These manulunas were apparently recommended by the New York Times. They're good. Before coming to this place, we went to two other cafes to try to figure out which cafe we wanted to go to. Prices of the two other cafes that we went to drove us away from them. I really wanted a latte, but the latte at these other places was more than 5,000 pesos, which is like around 5 USD for a latte. So, we searched for a better price per deal and we came across this place and we got two medalas with a cafe k leche for 5,000 pesos which is like $4.50 50 which is a much better deal in my opinion for Recalleta. It's a pretty good deal. [Music] So, today we're going to try to make local. I have some of the things here, and you may see the ingredients aren't exactly what they should be. I don't think that's the biggest deal, but you let me know. I think I'll just let the ingredients speak for themselves. We have chorizo and bacon. Not that much bacon. I don't think there needs to be a lot of bacon, but typically I've seen in a lot of videos that it's two types of chorizo. It's spicy like red chorizo and then regular chorizo. I think we're just good with the regular. First try. Like I said, I've only had loco once and that was last year. This is my second time having it. First time trying to make it, so we'll see how close I get. I know what it's supposed to taste like. It's not like I'm just like making something and guessing it like what it should taste like. Now, here's the thing. I don't know like the names of the meats. I have carnet here and I've heard sometimes that's normal. Sometimes that's not most times it's pito and this has bones in it. So I'm going to have to go back and take the bones out, but that's okay. I actually bought a squash, but that was Monday and it's Friday. So today I had to go and buy some more. I think this is enough. I can't defend this one. This one was genuinely a mistake. I know most times they use white corn. And maybe you could have gave me a pass if it was just normal yellow corn, but I just realized this is cream corn. I can't put the cream in there. I know that's not allowed. So I think I'm going to wash it out or something. I don't know. I don't know if this is going to be an issue, but we'll see. I have white beans, but they're ready to serve. So, I don't know how overcooked they might be if they cook for 2 hours in the morning. My recipe is like an amalgamation of like 30 of them on Tik Tok. We're about an hour in. I'm having some concerns because I think one big mistake that I did is that I didn't let the chroy cook enough before I put it in here and it's turned into like thinner than I'd like to. I'd love to have like little chroy bites, but I can't. Mind you, both pots are the same. I just don't have like a ginormous pot that I could do it all in. I had to go out and buy some corn, which is fine. I couldn't find white corn, which is a bit of a bummer. [Music] I think it's really good. Before I was like, oh, I've tried it before, so I'd be able to tell if it's close. Mhm. It's hard to say because I haven't had it in so long. On a scale of 0 to 10, how easy is this to make? It's easier than you would think. When Michael showed me all of the meat that he bought, I was like, for two people. Yeah. At home, we have made loco, we've made chipa, we've made chord pan, we've made molanessa, we've made alphaes. Yeah. We haven't cooked mediunas. But the thing I think most people have cooked, which we haven't done yet, yonies. Yonkis. We haven't made yonies. That's true. If there's any other foods that we're missing, let us know down [Music] below. Happy May Revolution Day. Happy 25th of May. And today we are finally at aia de los matos. It's been something on our list for an extremely long time. And we're so happy we made it today because they're doing a lot of fun activities today. A lot of good food. It smells so good. There's so many good shops. And it doesn't seem that crowded. I thought it was going to be like 10 times more crowded. But I think we got here at a very good time. I thought it was going to rain today, but you can see it's cloudy. But I don't think we're going to get any rain. So that's a good sign. [Music] Just bought two pastelitos. One day patata and the other one day membio. This one is a bata one. It's very, very sweet. I'm liking this a lot more than I thought I would. This is merijo, but I think I like the bata more really, which I didn't think I would. I thought I would like the meria one better. And we got two for 2,800, which is a really good deal. I'll be honest, the texture is surprising. I thought it was going to be soft. Like 10 layers of like crispy. I'm sure you had to like bake all these individually or something, you know? You had to do it individually. It's really good. I like the memoria better. Wow. Well, I guess I'm going to finish the Bata one. [Music] Had to get a fried one. Had to try it. Looks so good. It literally tastes like a McDonald's apple pie. We had to get a churro with dulce de leche. These never fail when they're fresh. This one's not so fresh, but it's still very good. [Music] We've been walking in Laia for a pretty long time now and the booths and stuff here remind me of Laia de Santomo. But I would say here, maybe it's just for the holiday today. Things seem a lot more patriotic, more like of Argentine culture, like a lot of mates, a lot of leather items, a lot of patriotic clothing accessories and things like that. So, if you haven't come here yet and if you're looking to bring home some souvenirs or add a little Argentine touch to your house if you're living here, I would really recommend it. The prices overall have been very fair. Yesterday, we went to La Recoleta Fedia and the prices that we're seeing here are much more affordable. I [Music] think I think one of my top three favorite Argentine dishes is definitely a chore. Number one, maybe Medyludas for me. Number two, maybe Alpha Hores. You guys know yesterday we went to the Recalleta Fair and they were selling Troy Ponds for 16,000 pesos. The Troy we just got today was 3,000 pesos, which is like $2.50. And I'm not even exaggerating at all. Like, this is one of the best chries I've ever had like here in Boseitis. Like, it is so so good. 10 out of 10. Like, it's really good. [Music] There were so many good things at the Fedia and you guys are not going to believe what Michael snack. Feels so good. It looks so good. It makes you so functional. This is me when it starts snowing at [Music] 10. got this for 15,000 pesos. 15,000 pesos for the best souvenir you could probably get from Buenosidons. This is 10 out of 10. This is 10 out of 10. I'm sorry for everyone who doesn't have their own, but we do. I myself also got two things from Aidia Tapestry for 10,000 pesos. Oh, it's actually an organizer. We saw this before. You can like put stuff in it. I didn't realized that before, but it's just really cute as it is. And I got one more thing for my whiteboard, my virtual classroom when I'm teaching. This was for 12,000 pesos. So cute. If you did enjoy this vlog, please be sure to give me a like. Leave me a comment down below and subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already. That being said, I'll see you in the next one. I felt like in the US I never had an ar Oh my gosh. In the US, I never had an Argentina. Yeah, no duh. Of pig. What is it called? Pito demonone. [Music] I feel like in the US I never What? I did it again. Okay. [Music]
