Adding a Search Bar to Google Sites

Overview

• Google Sites does not have a built-in option for a search bar.
• You can embed a custom search bar using provided code.
• This guide will walk you through the process of adding this search feature.

Steps to Add a Search Bar

1. Access Google Sites:

   • Navigate to your website on Google Sites.

2. Embed Feature:

   • Click on Embed and select Embed Code option.

3. Obtain the Code:

   • The code needed is provided in the description of the guide/video.
   • No need to edit the code except for one specific part.

4. Customize the Code:

   • Locate the section of the code that says enter website URL here.
   • Replace this placeholder with your actual website URL.
   • To find your website URL, view your published site and copy the URL.

5. Insert the Code:

   • Paste the customized code into the Embed Code section.
   • Click Next and then Insert.
   • You can resize and move the search bar on the page as needed, such as centering it.

6. Publish the Changes:

   • Click Publish and confirm by clicking Publish again.

7. Test the Search Bar:

   • View your website to ensure the search bar is functioning.
   • Example: Search for terms like "best beaches" to test functionality.
