Pendahuluan

  • Materi hari ini: If Clauses dan If Conditional.

If Clauses

  • Pengertian: If clauses digunakan sebagai kalimat pengandaian.
  • Fungsi: Terdapat 5 fungsi if clauses:
    1. If clause plus imperative: Digunakan untuk memberi perintah.
      • Contoh: "If you are ready, let’s go!"
    2. If clause plus suggestion: Digunakan untuk memberi saran.
      • Contoh: "If you visit Korea, you should try the food."
    3. If clause plus general truth: Menyatakan fakta umum.
      • Contoh: "If you don't study, you will fail."
    4. If clause plus reminder: Memberikan peringatan.
      • Contoh: "If you go hiking, don’t forget your water."
    5. If clause plus dream or wish: Menyatakan impian atau harapan.
      • Contoh: "If I had more money, I would travel the world."

Contoh Penggunaan Fungsi

  1. Imperatif: "If you have time, call me soon."
  2. Saran: "If you like movies, why don't you watch one tonight?"
  3. Kalimat Contoh:
    • If you meet Lee Min Ho, why don't you take a photo with him? (saran)
    • If you want to get the highest score, you have to study hard. (perintah)
    • If you have enough time, tour to kota tua Jakarta. (perintah)
    • If you visit Jakarta, see Monas. (perintah)
    • If you go to Padang, you had better try the food. (saran)

If Conditional

  • Pengertian: Terdapat tiga jenis if conditional.
    1. Type 1: Digunakan untuk kemungkinan yang terjadi di masa depan.
      • Pola: If + Simple Present + Subject + Will + Verb 1
      • Contoh: "If it rains, I will stay at home."
    2. Type 2: Untuk situasi yang tidak mungkin terjadi saat ini.
      • Pola: If + Simple Past + Subject + Would + Verb 1
      • Contoh: "If I had time, I would go with you."
    3. Type 3: Situasi yang tidak terjadi di masa lalu.
      • Pola: If + Past Perfect + Subject + Would have + Verb 3
      • Contoh: "If I had known, I would have helped."

Contoh Penggunaan If Conditional

  1. Type 1: "If it doesn't rain, we will go to the library."
  2. Type 2: "If I were rich, I would travel the world."
  3. Type 3: "If she had known, she would have joined us."
