Understanding Spirit-Filled Living and Torah

Praise Yahweh and oh wow just awesome awesome awesome I love to hear the sound of rejoicing I'll tell you what Yahweh loves to hear the sound of rejoicing because that means we're thankful and that's one of the things he wants us to do when we get together for Shavuot is to express that thanksgiving to him. him and for what he's done for us. We really need to just take stock of what Yahweh has done for us and out of that, an abundance of joy. Out of that, an abundance. of thanksgiving and rejoicing before him and that pleases him so much um i i just i know that's what the age to come is going to be all about in his presence is fullness of joy and pleasures forever more scripture says and since that's what the age to come is all about you know if we walk around like a bunch of glum uh people that don't have any life inside of them how is that that going to be attractive to people? We don't look very happy ourselves. But if we're walking around with an attitude of gratitude, an attitude of thanksgiving and joy and love and peace and, oh, that sounds like Spirit-filled people. Sounds like Spirit-filled people. And we're going to be talking about that Torah observance in a Spirit-filled life. Sometimes people think the two things are two different things altogether, that Torah observance is somehow different than being Spirit-filled. How many have heard that? Oh, we don't keep that old law anymore. Now we just follow the Spirit. Anybody heard that before? How about, well, you all can do your law stuff. We're going to follow the Holy Spirit. As if that was two different things, as if it was on two opposite ends of the spectrum. One, there's a law on one side, and there's a spirit on the other side, and somehow they're almost against each other, you know, sort of, you know. And so we have to realize that really, I'm going to show you, I'm not just going to show you. I'm going to absolutely obliterate the thought that Torah observance and being spirit-filled are two different things. And so, I know that I've heard things, people say, well, we walk in the spirit now. Yeah, it used to be a time when people had to walk around like robots, you know, and walk so many steps this way and so many steps that way because of... Law says do this and do that, ritual, liturgy, and all this stuff, and that used to be how people had to live, but now we've got the law in our hearts, and we walk in the Spirit, and we're just free to rejoice and just blow with the Spirit as if that was ever commanded, go around, do so many steps this way. That's not in the Bible. It's not in the Scriptures. Yeah, the priests had certain things they had to do. But this idea that, oh, they used to have to walk in this big, bad, terrible law, you know, and be under bondage, under that old curse, and the legalism of the Old Testament. But now we're a New Testament church, and we get grace. I felt bad for them people back in those days. They didn't get no grace. I guess Yahweh brought them out of the land of bondage and slavery and put them right back into slavery again. That's not really how it is. But that's the idea that has been presented to us. How many of you have heard those kind of comments before? Anybody? Yeah, yeah, pretty much everybody's heard that. Well, let's look first of all at what the word spirit actually means. Ruach in Hebrew. Wind by resemblance breath, ruach, wind, breath, mind, spirit, the movement of air, whether it be through our windpipe producing sound or the wind of the earth, the root literal meaning is there. but with this in mind we're going to examine what it really means to be walking in the spirit and we're going to let the scriptures answer the question what it means to walk in the spirit it says in Romans chapter 8 and verse 1 there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Messiah Yeshua who do not walk according to the flesh but walk what according to the spirit pay close attention no condemnation no condemnation that means spirit-filled people are not going around condemning each other right no condemnation spirit-filled people don't feel the need to condemn each other because we are walking in the spirit that sounds pretty good people don't walk people who don't walk according to spirit are going to be people who are worthy of condemnation but those who do are not worthy of condemnation they're not walking according to the flesh they're walking according to the spirit that sounds pretty key that sounds like salvational kind of stuff doesn't it and so this promise is given that if we are in messiah yeshua we're in messiah yeshua and we do not walk according to flesh we walk according to the spirit then wow no condemnation at all so as spirit-filled congregation does not have a bunch of people walking around condemning each other, right? I mean, you can't have one and the other. You can't have them both together, right? So spirit-filled congregation is going to be people who are free of condemnation. Now, I'm convinced that some people, they think they're walking in the spirit, but really, they're kind of walking in their own spirit. Ezekiel 13 verse 2 says, Some men prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the word of Yahweh, thus says the Master Yahweh. Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing. They follow their own spirit and they've seen nothing. And sometimes these loud-mouthed, spirit-filled people find themselves getting caught up in some of the worst sins. You ever notice that? And so they boast and act like they are above you, and like they're walking in the Spirit. You're somewhere down there on the plain lower spiritually, you know. We're up on high. We're high on the Spirit and all this stuff, and you haven't reached your level yet. Maybe one day if you listen to them, you'll come close to their level, but they might say patronizingly that, you know, you just don't understand yet because it's... spirit has not yet worked in your life in that way. And so you need to be this like them. Well, if that is the attitude, isn't that arrogance? Isn't that arrogance and pride? And how is that spirit filled? I thought pride was a work of the flesh, not a fruit of the spirit. And there's an example here of scripture of haughty people and says pride goes before destruction a haughty spirit before a fall better to be of a humble spirit humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud and so let's look at another promise in scripture given to those who are walking according to the spirit he says walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. That's a great and beautiful promise because we only need to walk in the Holy Spirit and we will not obey or fulfill those desires our flesh would otherwise try to take us toward. That's an amazing promise that if you walk in the Spirit, you will not sin against Yahweh. You will not... fulfill those lusts of the flesh. And so from what we see here, walking in the Spirit is a direct opposite of fulfilling lusts. the flesh right and from those words we can establish pretty clearly that walking in the spirit and walking in carnality or lust or the flesh are completely opposite ends of spectrum right has to be so if you walk in the spirit what happens is you starve out the flesh you starve it out The flesh, the carnal, sinful nature will literally die of starvation. You want to be so filled with the things of Yahweh, there's no room for this carnal stuff. There's no room for anything else. That's what you want. And so the fruit of the Spirit is love. Number one. Number one fruit of the Spirit is love. love so if you're walking in the spirit can you not conclude that therefore you would be walking in love if you're walking in the spirit then you're walking in love because love is a fruit of the Spirit right now we're told in Galatians 5 13 you brethren have been called to Liberty How many of you have heard this before? I have liberty. I don't have to do that old law. Because I'm walking in liberty now. Well, it says, only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh. But through what? Through love, serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another. I say then, walk in the Spirit. And there's that scripture, you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. So we have been granted liberty, freedom, in that we have been set free from the power that sin had over us, which was the power of condemnation. But he tells us, Do not use that liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, because if you walk in the spirit, you won't even fulfill those loves of the flesh. In fact, you will not bite and devour one another. You will not be consumed by one another. You will not be condemning each other. You will be, what? Loving your neighbor as yourself, because you have the fruit of love in your life. That's simple, because a spirit-filled man is walking in love. It's that simple. And so with this, the scriptures agree. Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. Isn't that interesting? We often read and hear from people, well, the Messiah fulfilled the law. Yes, that's true. But we are also. supposed to fulfill the law? Scripture says so, by loving one another. For all the law, for the commandments, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, you shall not covet, and if there is any other commandment, any other commandment, are all summed up in this same, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is fulfillment of the law. And so we are also supposed to be fulfilling the law. Just as the Messiah fulfilled the law, so are we also called to fulfill the law. And how do we do that? We walk in the spirit of which we have the fruit called love, right? So as the Holy Spirit comes down upon the people, Shavuot, that's what this day is about, there's two things happening here. There is the Holy Spirit filling you, cleansing you of all your sin, delivering you from all condemnation, but there's also this same Spirit is leading you toward love. And because it's leading you toward love, You're not going to commit adultery. You're not going to murder. You're not going to steal, you're not going to bear false witness, you're not going to covet, or do anything else that would cause harm to a neighbor. And so you will keep those commandments because you are walking in love. You are walking in the Spirit when you are keeping those commandments, right? Makes sense? One plus one equals two. It's that simple. That's why our Savior said, teacher, they asked him. Which is the great commandment in the law? Yahshua said to him, You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great, first and great commandment. There is no commandment in the Bible greater than that one. It's not the only commandment, but it's the greatest one there is. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. That means every command given in the Torah, every single one of them, is directing you toward love toward your Father in heaven or love toward your neighbor. Every single one of them. So for someone to say, forget that old law, they're saying forget love. You cannot take a set of bolt cutters and break off the law and prophets from the two commandments off of which they hang. They're all interconnected, just like Paul explained in the book of Romans. We just read it. In fact, he said to Timothy, he said, the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart. from a sincere faith a good conscience from a sincere faith now pay close attention to this from which some having strayed have turned aside to idle talk what did they strayed from they have strayed from the purpose of the commandment They've strayed from that, and they've lost the pure heart, they've lost the good conscience, and they've lost the sincere faith, and yet they want to be teachers of the law, and yet they don't understand what they say. They don't know what they're saying, and they don't know what they're affirming because they've lost the purpose of the law. That's tragic. There are Torah teachers out there who have lost the purpose of the law. They don't understand what they're saying, and they don't understand what they're affirming because they've lost its purpose. They thought the purpose was to stand over everybody else. They thought the purpose was to condemn Christianity. They thought the purpose was to make themselves look good and everybody else look bad. No, the purpose is love. What that means is... We, as Torah observant people, ought to be the most loving people on the planet. There should be no one who is more loving than we are. If you're Torah observant, if that's what you're going to call yourself, then you ought to be one of the most loving people in this world anywhere, if you are indeed Torah observant. Otherwise, you've lost the purpose. You've lost it. You need to return to the pure heart, to the good conscience, to the sincere faith. Now, let's look again at our list. Walking in the Spirit is the opposite of fulfilling the lust of the flesh. It's walking in love. It is fulfilling the law. So, we know Yahshua, He did fulfill the law. He did. No question. No doubt about it. He fulfilled the law. But guess what? Just as we are told to fulfill the law, so 1 John 2, 6 tells us, he who says he abides in him ought himself also to walk just as he walked. And so what does that mean? That means the things that he did, he wants to do in you. That means the things that he did yesterday, he wants to do in you today. And the truth is, we're all going to do that forever, according to the prophets. And so let's add that to our list. Walking as Yahshua walked. We know he walked in the Spirit. Ain't no doubt about that. He walked in the Spirit. Okay? And so since he walked in the Spirit, we also must walk as he walked. Doesn't this just sound so simple, so easy to understand? It's not complicated. But there is this line of thinking, there is this doctrine that has been handed down from generation to generation, that walking in the Spirit and keeping Yahweh's commandments, that's two completely different things. One's the Old Covenant way, and one's the New Testament way. That's what has been taught to us. But we're told here, that we should walk as Yahshua walked. Did Yahshua keep the commandments in the Torah? Absolutely. And so on this day of Pentecost, us spirit-filled people, what are the two major events that happen on Pentecost? The giving of the Torah and the giving of the Holy Spirit. So there's a Torah to teach you how to live and there's a spirit to enable you to live that way. It's a beautiful plan. I love it. And so we find clear agreement here that they're all one and the same. They're all one and the same. And so when it says here in Galatians 5, 17, the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh, and these things are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. That's where they're getting it. Right there. Right there. That's where they're getting it. It's statements like these traditional Christianity has picked up and used as justification to say that walking in the Spirit is something different than walking in the commandments found in the law. So when they say, when they see this, well, you're under the law. You're trying to go back under that law again by keeping those commandments. Hmm. Let's investigate that. Let's pull that thread out and see what happens to the garment here, okay? If you're going to say that keeping the commandments puts you under the law, let's see what the Bible really teaches about that, okay? Let's first start with verse 19 so we can continue to read. It says, verse 19, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like, of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of Elohim. Those sound like commandment keepers, people acting like this here. Adultery, is that commandment keeping? How about fornicating? No. How about lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred? Is that commandment keeping? Anybody? Is that commandment keeping? I see heads going like this. I can't hear anyone. No. Okay. All right. So we know that's not commandment keeping, but it's just the opposite of commandment keeping. All these things are condemned in Yahweh's law. And so someone who is living like that is walking in the works of the flesh, right? And so we can conclude at least one thing for sure, that those are commandment breakers who are acting like that. How about this? The fruit of the Spirit, we talked about this already, is love, joy, peace, long-suffering. Kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. That means against the other things there was a law. But against these things there is no law. But against the other things that works the flesh, yes, there is a law against those things. But against these things there is no law. And those who are Messiahs have put to death, impaled the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in it. in the spirit. Once again, that walking in the spirit, connecting to love. But what in the world is that under the law thing? Let's keep reading. Let's keep digging. Let's keep finding things, okay? Now, there are two ways that a person can find themselves under the law. Two ways. The first way is to reject the redemption. and forgiveness of sin offered through the Messiah. If someone rejects the Messiah, then the only thing they have to make them righteous is their own law-keeping. That means they go to Yahweh on Judgment Day and they face Him and they say, well, I've kept your commandments, let me in. And Yahweh's going to say, no you haven't. He violated this one, this one, this one, this one. Oh, but you forgave me, right? No, no, forgiveness only comes through my son and him bearing your punishment for you, him bearing your sin for you. And you rejected him. You didn't want him to bear your sin. You rejected him, and so you have to bear your own sin. And so they're under the law because they're under the law's condemnation of them. And they're required to keep that law from the time they were born until the time they die in order to be considered righteous. Now, there's only one person who ever did that, and you're not that one. And that's Yahshua the Messiah, right? He is the only one that has ever kept that law from the time he was born until the time he died. So he was born under the law and was declared righteous by the law because he did not violate a single command. There's another way. we can find ourselves under the law, and that is rejecting his call for repentance. What is repentance? Repentance is to turn away from sin, from law-breaking, and turn toward righteousness, which would be walking in the Spirit, law-keeping. And Paul just now talked about that very thing. He says, if you practice these works of the flesh, you will not inherit the kingdom. That means if you're not repenting of these works of the flesh, you are going to not make it in. You are going to find yourselves under the law's condemnation because Yahshua's blood is precious. His blood is precious, and since His blood is precious, it's not to be trampled on. It's not something that you just say, well, I can live how I want, and Yahshua's blood, it'll cleanse me of my sin. That's not what it's for. Yahshua's blood is for those who are willing to turn away from sin, and if they fail, they confess it, they forsake it, they recommit themselves to not breaking that law anymore. That's what true repentance is, and this is why Romans chapter 2 tells us, leads you to what repentance if you don't want to come to a place of repentance then in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of Elohim who will render to each one according to his deeds eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory honoring immortality but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth but obey unrighteousness what's going to happen indignation and wrath tribulation anguish on every soul of man who does evil i don't care if you're a jew or if you're a greek that's what he says and so This is why it tells us to walk in the Spirit. If you're led by the Spirit... You're not going to find yourselves back under that law again because you're a repentant man. You're choosing to walk in the Spirit. You're not choosing to put yourself back under that law's condemnation by rejecting repentance and therefore finding yourselves in condemnation. And so there's two ways that you can put yourself back under the law. One, by rejecting the Messiah Yahshua, what He did for you. Or two... rejecting his call to repent and turn away from unrighteousness and choose to obey righteousness. And so both of those can put you under the law. And this is also why it says in Romans 8, 1, there is no condemnation to those who are, number one, in Messiah Yeshua. That means you have received the Messiah to cleanse you of all your sin. And... who do not walk according to flesh you are repentant man you're not choosing to walk according to the flesh you're choosing to walk according to the spirit that's what it means brothers and sisters so the the we're not under the law we're under grace but we're not above the law either where is it where is the law where is it right here in our hearts in our minds that we may do it. That's where it is, right here. That make sense? It really is that simple. It really is that simple. And most people in traditional Christianity misunderstand this to think that if you're trying to walk in the Spirit, oh no, what are you doing? You're trying to keep those commandments? Oh no, you're trying to depart from grace. No, I'm trying to walk in the Spirit. Because walking in the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit is love. And every one of those commandments is expression of love to my Heavenly Father or love to my fellow man, every one of those commandments. And so Yahshua, he was born under the law. It says, when the fullness of time had come, Elohim sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law. And yet he was not condemned because he kept every single command. But to those of us who are under the law, He came to redeem us who are under the law that we might receive adoption of sons. Every one of us in this world, every single human being in this world, Jew, Greek, whatever, has found themselves in a condition where you're under the law. Everyone and every one of us need to find ourselves to be under grace in the end. This is why we need Yahshua. This is why we need to repent and turn away from sin, so that we can receive that adoption as sons. Every one of us have failed to keep the law. Yahshua can be under the law, no problem. He kept every one. He can go to Yahweh, if Yahweh was to come to him in judgment and say, oh, I kept every one of your laws, and so forth. That's why he's able to justify you and me. Because we become connected to his body. And being connected to his body, then sin no longer has power over us. Because we're not under that law anymore, we're under grace. It's a misunderstanding to say if you're under the law, that means you have to keep it now. Everyone is supposed to keep Yahweh's laws. Everyone is supposed to keep his commandments. Whether you're under grace or under law or whatever, we're all supposed to keep His commandments. But to be under the law is to be in a condition where you have to keep the law perfectly in order to be justified in the end. That's what it means. But we're not. We are under grace. And we're set free from the dominion and the power that sin had over us because through Yahshua, we are cleansed of our sins. And we're able to be considered righteous and justified because of He who lives in us. So, what then? Shall we sin? That means break His law. Because we're not under law, but under grace. Pound the table. Strongest possible objection in the Greek language. Certainly not. Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one slaves whom you obey? Whether of sin leading to death or obedience leading to righteousness. Sin leading to death, obedience leading to righteousness. Back to Galatians. Let me say first of all, I have a full study on what it means to be under the law. And I'm not going to make this whole thing today, but this is what you're going to conclude. If you look at all scripture, this is what it's going to mean. Two ways you can be under the law. That means under the law's power to condemn you. And since we're under grace, we're not under the law's power to condemn us. And I have a full study at laod.com forward slash underlaw.html. All right, so walking in the spirit. walking in the spirit he says walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh he says there's no condemnation who are in Messiah Yeshua who did not walk according to flesh but walk according to the spirit let's look at the difference here once again Works of the flesh, adultery, fornication, these are all things that are forbidden in Yahweh's law. And here again, fruits of the Spirit, walking in love, joy, and peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And against these things there is no law. So, if we live in the Spirit, he's saying walk in the Spirit. There's actually a prediction in the prophets that Israel... would receive the Holy Spirit, and something amazingly beautiful would happen as a result of them receiving the Holy Spirit. In Ezekiel 36, verse 27, he says, I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you will keep my judgments and do them. And so walking in the Spirit and keeping His statutes and His judgments, His commandments, it's all one and the same. It's all one and the same. And we see that from one end of Scripture to the other. And so those who choose not to keep the statutes and judgments of Yahweh are on a spiritually dangerous playground of rejecting the Spirit's leading in their life to keep his statutes, his judgments, and to do them. And there are plenty of Bible teachers teaching you that way of salvation today. While they promise people liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption, disobedience. For by whom a person is overcome, by him he is also brought into bondage. For if, after having escaped... The pollutions of the world through the knowledge of Master and Savior Yahshua Messiah, they are again entangled in them and overcome. The latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than having known it to turn from what? The Holy Commandment. delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, a dog returns to his own vomit and a sow having washed to her wallowing in the mire. So we see here a promise of liberty and yet a return to the vomit. A return. to a wallowing in the mire, a rejection of the way of righteousness, a rejection of holy commandment. And there are people out there who are teaching grace covers it all, you don't have to worry about your sin anymore, and you have liberty now. Once you're saved, once you say those words, and you give your heart to Messiah Yahshua, that's it. You have eternal security. You cannot lose your salvation, and you have liberty. Charles Stanley recently passed. A Baptist man taught that once a person gave his life to Yahshua, even if he went back out in the world and turned from the holy commandment given and went back to the wallowing in the mire, in the end, he's still saved. He's still saved. Once saved, always saved. That is tragic. That is tragic. Because that's not what scripture teaches. Not at all. He is a preacher of unrighteousness teaching that kind of stuff. Shame on that man. Shame on him. We don't want to turn from the holy commandments as a result of the grace we've been given. Liberty. It's freedom from the penalty and repercussions and the wages of sin, which is damnation, and the ability to, you know, it's not a freedom to just live how you want. That's not what the freedom is supposed to be. In fact, as we lead our children, don't we, into greater and greater levels of maturity, don't we teach our children to walk in higher and higher levels of maturity? They get to be teenagers, we hope that they have reached a certain level of maturity and they're walking in love toward their fellow man and they're being responsible with the things they do and we hope that this is where they're going to find themselves. But what if they just say, you know what, I'm not going to have to do anything you say, Dad, because, you know what, I've got grace, you'll forgive me anyway. How long is he going to last in your house while he gets drunk and lights a doobie in your front living room? You know, he's not going to last very long in your house acting like that, right? And so the point being that you think you can treat your children, you understand what grace is, you understand the dynamic there between law and grace in your own household, but somehow Yahweh is just like Grandpa, do what you want, you know. He's kind of a grandfatherly figure now, he's kind of calmed down. He used to be really uptight about obedience, but anymore he's just kind of relaxed, you know, he's kind of... kind of relaxed, and we kind of got a Jekyll and Hyde thing here, you know, kind of condemning and meaning the Old Testament, now New Testament. He's kind of calmed down now because, you know, Jesus died for your sins. I'm sorry. This is just a sad, sad characterization. It is a mischaracterization of who our Heavenly Father is. He's every bit as serious about sin now as he ever was. If you don't believe me, ask Ananias and Sapphira. It dropped dead right there on the spot. How about Jezebel? He says, I'll kill your children with death and put you in a sickbed. You know, read Revelation. Every one of them, he said, I know your works, I know your works, I know your works, I know your works. All seven of them. Yeah, he wants to know. He wants to know what our works are. So, here's what we need to do. Yes, we've been called to liberty, but don't use that liberty as opportunity for the flesh. That means... Never let His grace take the edge off your zeal for obedience. And conversely, never let your zeal for obedience cause you to forget you need His grace every day. That's the key. Right there. Right there. That's the key. So, we who look into this perfect Torah of liberty, and the law is liberty, why? It's teaching us the way of love. And the way of love is a way of freedom. The way of hatred is not liberty. The way of hatred can't bring you to liberty. The only thing that's going to bring you to liberty is repentance and faith in Messiah Yahshua. You put your faith in Yahshua, yes, you're under grace, yes, you're cleansed of your sin, but now you look into that perfect law of liberty and you want to continue in it and not be a forgetful hearer, but be a doer of the work so you can be blessed in what you do. That is taking you to a place where you were a hateful person and now you are a loving person. Which one of those would be liberty, love or hate? I mean, it's a pretty simple answer. Obviously, love would be better, right? And so since every command in the Torah leads you to love, it's pretty clear. Pentecost is all about, let's keep Torah. and let's put our faith in Yahshua for forgiveness of sin. Simple as that. Let's walk away from Torah breaking and start walking toward Torah keeping. Yahshua said it so plain, don't even think I came to destroy the law of prophets. I didn't come to destroy them. I came to fulfill them and to empower you to fulfill them too, sir. That's what Yahshua came to do. To fulfill them and empower you also to fulfill them by walking in love. Oh, no man anything but to walk, to love one another, for he who loves one another has fulfilled the law. Very simple. Very, very simple. So we walk as he walks, simple as that. And so now, the time has come. Wake up out of sleep. Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night's far spent, the day's at hand. Cast off the works of darkness, put on the armor of light. Walking properly as in the day, not strife and envy. Not strife and envy, Torah keepers out there, but what? Put on the master Yahshua, the Messiah. Make no provision, none, no provision for the flesh, no fighting, arguing, insulting, berating, none of those things. Torah observant people don't do those things, period. And if all this Torah stuff has made you a less loving people than you were when you started, then you missed the entire point. You missed the whole thing. So cast off those works of strife. Cast them off. And let's walk honestly, as in the day, putting on Messiah Yahshua. Therefore, since Messiah suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from these works of the flesh. But he should no longer live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lust of men, but for the will of Elohim. We don't live the rest of our time now for these things that are of the flesh, things that are of this world. We don't focus on the here and now. We don't focus on the temporary things. Our focus is on... the eternal things we what we have chosen to walk away from sin what is sin see whoever commits sin transgresses also the law for sins of transgression of the law by the laws of knowledge of sin I've not known sin except by the law so we walk away from law breaking from sin and we turn toward law keeping which is righteousness It's so easy. It's so simple, really. But remember, remember, by the deeds of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. No flesh will be justified by his own righteousness, by his own working of the law, your own commandment keeping. will not be sufficient to make up for all those times you transgressed his law. It won't make it up. It doesn't work that way. It's not like you always got, well, here's the sins on one side, and here's the righteous deeds on the other. And if one outweighs the other, he gets to make it into the kingdom. It doesn't work that way. Try that in a court of law. Say you went out and you got a stack of speeding tickets this high, and you come to the judge and he says, well, you know, I didn't speed yesterday. In fact, most days I don't speed. Just these times here, see? And so I think you should let me go. That's not going to work. It's not going to work. Same is true of your heavenly court. The way it works is, you say, I repent of my breaking of the law, and I commit myself. to walking in your precepts, to walking in the truth, walking in the Spirit, keeping His judgments and doing them. And Yahweh in heaven goes, okay, in that case, Yahshua pays your fine. He pays your debt. I'll lay all that debt from those tickets on Him. But it's tenuous. You need to walk in the Spirit now. You do not walk in the flesh anymore. Can't keep on law breaking and as that expectation is there. that you committed your life, okay, you mess up, you slip up, you've got a bad habit or whatever you've got going on, come back to me. I'm a forgiving man, forgiving Elohim, but you're not going to think that you can just walk, trample over the blood of my son, and it's not going to work that way. You have to walk out repentance. It has to be serious. And so Yahweh is willing to do that for us the minute. We get on our face and say, Father, I'm a wreck. I need salvation. I need your grace in my life. I'm powerless to save myself, and I commit my ways to you. I recognize I have not been living the way I'm supposed to be living, and I need forgiveness, and I need your power in me. to be an overcomer. I need that. And if we're willing to do that, the minute you get up from that prayer, you're His. You put your trust in Messiah Yahshua for forgiveness of sin, and you commit your ways to Him. It's that simple. It's not complicated. Now you have chosen to be in right relationship with Him. You're not fighting against him anymore. You are choosing to walk now and commit your way to walking as Yahshua walked. But what if you go out from that prayer and say, Woohoo, now I can go sin all I want because I got forgiveness. That's not the way it works. It doesn't work that way with any relationship. Try that with your best friend. Oh, I can beat you up now. Now I can mistreat you all I want because you're going to forgive me, right? It doesn't work with any relationship. None. Zero. None. Okay, so those who are teaching that, that's a shame. Such a shame. So don't use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh. Choose love. Choose serving one another. And because... We recognize the very definition of sin is transgressing the law. By the law is the knowledge of sin. Not known sin except by the law. The law informs us what we ought to be living like. So that's that easy to understand. And we can find this in future times as you go into... the Old Testament prophecies, okay? First of all, let me explain to you this. The law is spiritual. Scripture says so. Paul says so. The law is spiritual. And in fact, it is holy, it is just, and it is good. Some people think the law is all about the flesh. Scripture says the law is holy, it's just, it's good, and it's spiritual. And so if you want to be holy and just and good and spiritual, keep the commandments and the law. It's that simple. But the problem is we've got this carnality thing going on. And that's what Yahshua redeems us from. That's what he's cleansing us from. And so, Yahshua says, It is the Spirit that gives life to flesh, profits nothing. He said, The words I speak to you are spirit. That means, since the law is spiritual, and Yahshua is the living word that has made flesh and dwelt among us, What's that mean? That means the words he speaks are spirit, and therefore the words of the law themselves are spirit. And so when Yahshua comes and takes residence in your heart, and he comes to live in there, the word of Yahweh takes residence in your heart, and that's how the law gets written in your hearts and in your minds. through him. That's how it happens. That's the mechanism behind it. Isn't that beautiful? Isn't that beautiful? And so when we choose to read the Word, and we choose to read the Law, we are taking the Holy Spirit off the pages and putting it into our minds and our hearts. We choose to receive Yahshua the Messiah, we're taking Him, we're bringing Him into our life, and the Holy Spirit is filling us because He's filling us. They're both one and the same. And so when Yahweh was giving His Law in Exodus 20, around that time of Pentecost, He said to them, he says, this commandment's not far from you. It's not way beyond the sea that you say, come back here and bring it to me. It's not way up in heaven somewhere. He says, that law, that word is in your mouth and in your heart that you may do it. That's what he told them. Israelites will have the law of Yahweh in their hearts because he gave it to them. And when they heard it. it entered their hearts. And Yahshua, therefore, who is the Word made flesh, dwell among us, entered their hearts in the same way. When you read Scripture, Yahshua is jumping off the pages, entering your heart, entering your innermost being. Yahshua himself, who is the Word made flesh, is entering you and empowering you to live in it. It's beautiful. But the day is going to come there's not going to be any confusion anymore brothers and sisters the world's going to be straightened out their theology is going to be corrected because read this Isaiah chapter 2 verse 2 it came to pass in the latter days the mountain of Yahweh's house shall be established on top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills and all nations shall flow to it this has never happened we're reading here this has never happened Many people shall come and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the Elohim of Yaakov. He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths. Why? For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem. They're going to learn the whole world, this planet we're living on right now. All the craziness, LGBT, whatever, all this gobbledygook going on today. The whole world is going to go to Yerushalayim and hear the Torah. All the world is going to go and hear the Torah. And they're going to say, let's go, let's go. We're going to learn Yahweh's ways. They're going to say, we're going to walk in his paths because we're going to hear what he has to say, how he wants us to live. And they're going to be excited about it. That's going to be a wonderful time to be alive. And he shall judge between nations, rebuke many people, shall beat their swords in the plowshares and their spears in the pruning hooks. Nations shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war. anymore because they're going to be filled with the spirit of love and joy and peace and goodness and kindness and all the good fruits of the spirit as they hear these words from Yahweh Zechariah 14 16 so come to pass it everyone who's left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem so go up from year to year to worship the King Yahweh of hosts and to keep the feast of tabernacles Oh, wait a minute. I thought that feast was just for the Jews. Nope. It's for everybody. And the world's going to get their theology straightened out. It's for everyone. How about this one? Isaiah 66, 22. As the new heavens and new earth, which I shall remain before me, says Yahweh, so shall your descendants and your name remain. It shall come to pass that from one new moon to another. and from one Sabbath to another all flesh shall come to worship before me says Yahweh and they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of those men who transgressed transgressed what transgressed the law against me for their worm does not die and their fire is not quenched and they shall be in abhorrence to all flesh the only question is do we want to walk in the spirit now and not be among those who are transgressing His law now. What do we want? It's our choice. So, O wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death? I can tell you who. His name is Yahshua Mashiach. I thank Elohim through Yahshua, Messiah, and Master. With the mind, I myself would serve the law of Elohim. But if I just went with the flesh, I'm going to serve this law of sin. The law of sin is this idea that while I want to do good, evil is present with me. But there's someone who delivered us from this carnality, and that's Yahshua HaMashiach. Now we're a part of his body, his flesh, his body. We talked about this yesterday. And that's why there is no condemnation to those who are in Messiah Yahshua, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life has made me free from that law of sin and death that tried to bind me to a place where I wanted to do good, but the evil was present with me. Some people think this law of sin and death is Yahweh's Torah. That's not true. Not true at all. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. I was once in a chat room with a gentleman who was anti-keeping Yahweh's law, and we went through this scripture together. He goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, see, you're walking according to the flesh because you're trying to keep that old law. He says, I'm walking according to the Spirit. Okay, let's keep reading then. For we carnally mind his death, he spiritually minds life and peace. He goes, yeah, yeah, see, you're walking the old carnal law, and we're walking in the newness of life. We're walking spiritual now. I said, okay, let's keep reading. Because the carnal mind is enmity against Elohim, for it is not subject to the law of Elohim, nor indeed can be. Crickets. Long pause. Long pause. What do you say about that one? He had nothing to say. Because he had it all wrong. He had it all wrong. The carnal mind will not subject themselves to Yahweh's Torah. The spiritual mind does, because when you walk in the Spirit, What does it say? I put my spirit in them, they will walk in my statues, keep my judgments and do them, right? It's the carnal mind that says, no, I don't want to be ruled by your law, Yahweh. What's that word subject to? That's what he wanted to know. To be subordinate to, reflexively to obey. The carnal mind does not want to obey Yahweh's law. hupotasso in the greek it really is true this scripture right here it really is true we can believe in it now we're saved because he kept torah not because we did and that that torah keeping man lives in us yahshua hamashiach enabling us to step by step, bit by bit, start keeping more and more of His Word in our life. It's an ongoing process, but this is the key thing. We need to accept each other. As long as we are repentant men and women, we accept each other at that place who put their trust in Yahshua Messiah for forgiveness of sin. And different people are at different levels in this walk. And that's okay. That's okay. Different people can be at different places in their walk and still be a believer. They may not be as obedient to you in this area here. They may not be as obedient as you are in this area here. Because they're on a journey too. And at one time, you weren't as obedient in that area as you are now because you were on a journey then. Remember, there's no condemnation to those who are in Messiah Yeshua, right? Remember that. Remember that. Remember that the path of the just is like the shining sun, shining ever brighter until the perfect day. Hopefully you're brighter now than you were when you first believed. That means you're on the path. You're on the journey. You're on the way. And as you walk, whatever brightness he has given you, let it shine. Don't be afraid because all the darkness in the world can't put out a single candle. don't be afraid let yahshua that torah keeping messiah shine through you it glorifies yahweh not you glorifies yahweh and so concerning the past you just need to tell people look okay that's in my rear view mirror but i don't live there anymore where I'm working to overcome that. I'm working to overcome that. I'm focused on the windshield, not the rearview mirror. I've made mistakes. I own up to them. I have no excuse for them. Yahshua has forgiven me. I hope that you do too. I've made mistakes. I've not treated you right. I walked around with this 85-pound sword condemning everybody. You know, not realizing. It's a sword, and it's a big one, and I need to quit walking in condemnation and just live in such a way that inspires people. rather than condemning people to the point of where they're perspiring okay and so yes the law of yahweh is perfect converting the soul the testimony of yahweh is sure making wise is simple the law has a place in our heart conversion because it converts us from being an unloving person to being a loving person it teaches us how to love yahweh how to love each other the statutes of yahweh are right rejoicing the heart the commandment of yahweh is pure enlightening the eyes excuse me the fear of yahweh is clean enduring forever the judgments of yahweh are true and righteous all together More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey in the honeycomb. Moreover, by them your servant is warned, and in keeping of them there is great reward. Yahweh says there's a reward, and I believe it. who can understand his errors he talks about how great the law is he's like wow who can understand his errors please cleanse me from secret things I don't know about that's our hearts cry that's a cry of repentance cleanse me from what I don't know and keep me from presumptuous sins don't let them have dominion over me then I shall be blameless and be innocent of the great transgression And then one of the most beautiful scriptures in all of Yahweh's word. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Yahweh, my strength and my Redeemer. Yahshua says, to him who overcomes... I will grant to sit with me on my throne as I also overcame and sat down with my father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying. To the congregations, what an honor to know and reign with the King of creation. What an honor. to take a pile of gunk like I was and set me next to the Savior himself, I think, what? What an Elohim we serve to do that for you. How can Yahweh take something so far removed from His will and turning it into something beautiful? How can He do that? He can because He's Elohim. And so brethren, let's seek the will of Yahweh as outlined in his words. It doesn't matter whether those words were written 2,000 years ago or 3,000 years ago. Let's receive every word that proceeds out of Yahweh's mouth. And by that, we shall live. It's all his word. It's all his spirit. It's all the way of Yahweh. It's all Yahshua's walk. And so let's seek to live by every step. he stepped and with yahshua living in us we can do it one step at a time let's pray almighty yahweh only through yahushua hamashiach do we have the righteousness and strength to walk in the spirit to walk in the ruach we desire that power from on high as you poured out your spirit upon your people on that day of shabuot so many years ago pour out your spirit here in this room in our hearts let yahshua shine through us As we walk out repentance, putting our trust in your strength and faith in who we are through Messiah Yeshua, putting on the full armor of Elohim. We want to walk in the way that's narrow, that's pure, that's new, and yet very ancient. Those ancient words, let them come alive in how we live our lives, how we treat one another, how we respond to one another, how we speak to one another, how we love one another. All to the praise of your glory. We turn away from any and all unrighteousness. We put our trust in Messiah Yeshua for the forgiveness of sin. And now empower us to walk as he walked. For truly we know, yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory. And to you, Yahweh Eloheinu, Yahweh our mighty one, belongs all power and glory and strength and blessing and honor forever and ever. In Yahshua's great name we pray. Amen.
