letter of your answer or simply the answer itself and then we'll see if you got your answer correctly this is just a quick multiple choice item so there are five items so get ready the first question is which genre of 21st century literature involves an author's narrative in prose meaning English meter simply sentences narratives okay while infusing images or illustrations to a story often in a comic book fashion while maintaining the resemblance of the length the story or quality of novels a is it comic book okay are these comic books B graphic novel C Illustrated novel or D mythology five seconds to answer five four three Sue two and a half one and a half so let's see if there are answers coming in from our dear students wow thank you Jalen for the attempt to answer the question we also have Mark Sullivan so let's see uh which of these guys got the correct answer take note elements and comic book Castle my resemblance as a novel so English necessarily comic book so the answer for this item is definitely letter B graphic novels good job next question which genre of 21st century literature contains excerpts of serialized narratives Edition produced on a weekly or monthly basis such great frequency involves arranged pictures in image channels and dialogues written in speech bubbles verbal crutches lung or verbal fillers so are these again comic books graphic novel Illustrated novel or mythology so we'll see if what is the best answer for this item in five four three two and one hello thank you sir Jerry hello thank you thank you it's a colleague oh finally good job Juan Viola Mark Sullivan Heaven uh Arabella and the rest who answered the correct answer for this definitely would be the answer of the first two students come make books okay sentence Forbes comic book wedding phrase spreading fragment wedding simple scream and all next which genre 21st century literature presents a story through 50 narrative or 50 and rather 50 images 50 images or sometimes we have no text at all so the choices are still the same what do you think is the answer for this item five four three two and one let's see okay Keiko answered C uh hello Angela thank you for joining us so with Erica Estrada thank you the answer is thank you good job Illustrated novel so good job JD fallorina and jessalyn for the first two folks to answer this item okay so good job everyone now this is an emphasis or just a quick recap of the melts that we have last week that will still continue this week compare and contrast to various 21st century literature or literary genres and the ones from the earlier genres or periods citing their elements structures and tradition but apart from that milk or most essential learning competency we also have a new one this week discuss how different contexts enhance the text meaning and enrich the reader's understanding uh so the objectives this week would be this one of course we'll still have the differentiation or we differentiate the various 21st century literary genres and their predecessors poems drama fiction non-fiction so predecessors okay second explore different contexts to enrich one's understanding of a text so there are around four that I'll be sharing today and finally relate one's understanding of the literary context the one's own life experience bucket how is this even feasible how why is this even important nothing in context definitely now if just because we're able to spot those contexts young so wow that'd be great right so what is the literature concept of the week so uh well this is a noun definitely a noun um context can mean or can include words that are used with a certain word or phrase and that help to explain its meaning the context clues so they give Clues okay they give us an idea of what might be the situation that's happening in its sex what could be the backstory of characters and so on okay so he needed a surface level of comprehending the story why a certain folk has that certain Behavior or certain character has a certain Behavior here's an example sentence to really know a word you must be able to use it in context okay that's a good one here are other sample sentences or another varied meaning a situation of or group of conditions in which something happens let's say there's a certain book and you feel like you kind of hate how the folks are reacting in a certain stimulus so we may want to look at the larger or broader context probably historical context bucket Mejo um and you will understand why the characters are behaving in such a way so that's a perfect application of context is historical context okay next uh here's another examples the book puts these events in their proper historical and social context or we need to consider these events in context now how do we expect for context to really help us understand literature simple because it gives us the setting within which a work of writing is situated [Music] or probably how people behave in a certain culture a certain belief that's being practiced by the folks in there so uncover the context background information circumstances events okay leading to the current events of the story redditing backstory the character okay so we would know why I he or she behaves in such a way and chapter personality so in other words context provides meaning and Clarity to the intended message demons or vampires into one and then he doesn't know if he's going to slay his sister you're not gonna plot so I'm gonna context why the vampires and the demons even exist to begin with so I know histories well we can always check on how people are living during that time or in that set up so in context so what are its types first this one something that's happening in history yeah historical context so just like how Dr Jose Rizal was uh was making sure that his works are uh have a purpose that eventually you know what led to his demise efforts yeah to help the Filipino or fellow Filipino people so your historical context it gives us an idea is they're very fearful example fearful to say their sentiments because it's either um literature or literary texts set up so women actually you've been a perfect example um Frankenstein RL Stine uh um known Killers last part uh they go back in time and see how women are treated and why how how they are being labeled as witches even if they are great okay so my historical context next physical context so we this pertain to the physical environment that will influence how certain characters act or behave and how the audience understands them perfect example if two people break up or two couples break up at home or whatever audience you can oh you can always see how people are more comfortable laying the cards and their feelings and physical contacts on the other hand if two couples break up in public let's say in the middle of the game or halftime because it's a court at everyone in the stadium could see that they're breaking up or the time so too bad each partner or each yeah each of them it's massive it's either gidilama Express he was trying to propose to the first girlfriend tapos and his love in front of his colleagues and Friends Story okay red wine when we talk about elements like belief religion marriage food and even clothing all these contribute to the so-called cultural contexts so you would understand how people behave how people wear things and then you're in a liberated area but let's say a group of um our Muslim sisters we couldn't force it to them so if that's the case differences because of cultural context okay good and finally situation context situational context so why something is happening based on the event or situation itself so um because there's already this mindset that the situation will get worse and it will be the end of the world so uh house situational context is quite uh I thought that's a very important very uh it contributes to how we understand the text okay so why is it important to write to indicate or to know the context so if you're the writer you're the one instilling that in the text or infusing that in the text uh through your words through your narration if you're the reader writer so Bridging the Gap not an audience character okay strength and comprehension prevent miscommunication and of course as we future writers or budding writers provide the context always get creative remember your audience who is this for and finally be mindful of overloading I'll provide Paramount providing contextual so just be careful not too much just enough for people to understand what's happening in the setting to people for people or readers to understand why characters behave in such a way or why people practice this and that in the story so that's all for the different type of context I hope you've learned so far in the first half of the lesson and I'll give you back to tutor Joyce for the rest or the continuation of the different literary genres shooter Joyce please be here so while waiting for tutor Joyce I'll just have a quick shout out to the folks in here Jillian saplala Brent Oliver about the more of 11 gas bakobo we also have Elmer Villalobos and Adrian labarda so tutor Joyce okay computer dies okay so since it's shooter joister I'll have to continue while waiting for her okay I'm back hello sir Floyd thank you so much for introducing me thank you thank you okay I again I am your tutor tutor Joyce and of course continue joining us today for explore the word of fun and excitement here in the 21st century literature from the Philippines and the world and of course stay with me up to the end okay so guys sit back and let's move on so to start with let's have here who can guess okay who can guess what if you can remember our lesson back then last week we have the 21st literary genres so here what do you think is for sale baby shoes never worn is an example of yes kindly type your answer in our comments section anyone and this starts with letter uh-huh if you have answers please write it down I know you know the answers no so can you please or let us now reveal it starts with letter f I am yeah very good yes to third floor we have an answer again and the correct answer is it's a flash fiction flash fiction so actually a flash fiction from the word flash parashank C Flashman no flash fiction it's actually it's imaginative literature of extreme gravity and not only that we speak of flash fiction it's more on a very short story you can even have this for you know a sudden a sudden fiction or a postcard Fiction it's also have it as a nano tales and shorts short stories short story okay next okay and yes next please why do we need why do we write no by the way you know why why writers do write flash fiction well actually these writers that are very good in writing like Ernest Hemingway the one that we have presented for sale baby shoes never worn actually there are three elements that you can find there we have the for sale no which is the Mind recognizing that that thing is something's being sold and then the baby shoes and we know that's as a fragile a baby and then never when I mean say that babies never exist or even not there to wear the the shoes okay so it's a very a deep um some kind of a short story but then again it has complete elements of a short story okay yeah and so if you're going to compare what a flash fiction from a short story from we have here based on the length yes we have shorter for flash fiction we have shorter than a short story uh while a short story is shorter than a novel okay another we also have six to one thousand words a flash section or 500 words or less while a short story has five thousand to ten thousand words so you see the difference between a flash fiction from a short story by Len or if you're going pair it through a length and another one of course how about the character characters the setting and the plot how do they differ next please and so we have here well if we'll be comparing the characters how the flash fiction from a short story differ with one another as number one you have of course one setting would speak of flash fiction okay while the short story has one or few settings uh not much backstory from a character and character development we speak of flash fiction while in a short story we have the Single theme and one or a few characters and not only that short story has a few characters with few settings with a place time and such a day or couple of weeks no it's actually a well-rounded characters when we speak of a short story however a flash fiction just additional is our best flash fictions written by that writers can pick entire story ideas so just imagine that no into a few short paragraphs if you're going to read a flash fiction from the entire story of that flash fiction you really can't understand already the story okay another yeah speak up the plan okay when speak of plot well a flash fiction that Sparks entire story ideas into few short lines or paragraphs and not only that it has a certain pricing surprising ending there's a Twist at the ending and then okay so there is a Twist or surprising ending of the story while a short story yes has a flesh out plot and more flexible when you read a short story and then you have ready the resolution what will happen next and they live happily ever after okay okay next please aha number five so before I move on anyone can guess what this genre examples that we are presenting here anyone could answer yes I am there's a writing uh-huh so ah yes and a clue well this genre dealings with imaginative Concepts what type of fiction Mark Young fiction at all I think one got the correct answer to third floor reveal nothing go go go yes it's a speculative fiction actually this fiction dealing with imaginative concept as I have mentioned futuristic scenes I don't know technology space time and then faster than the light travel and parallel universe or even extraterrestrial life yeah and actually if you're going to classify this speculative fiction that we know no we have the sub genres of the speculative fiction yes and tutor Floyd mm-hmm yeah no we have number one we have science fiction so science fiction actually these are stories about time travel aliens in robots yeah and sci-fi fantasy picture Naman is more on the mythology for colors and even fairy tales Fairy Tales again go with the sci-fi fantas fantasy fiction moving on we have another one the supernatural fiction a witchcraft okay do you believe in witchcraft guys yes maybe nowadays psychic abilities yeah that's it another we have also the Space Opera fiction and what is this all about the Space Opera fiction well it's play about soap opera yeah no it's more on the romance again conflicts and even Adventure how about the urban fantasy fiction please speak on the word Urban well it is more on civilizations of the authors and usually also with magical rules magic rules to operate not on the underworld or in the real world rather okay next we also have yeah dystopian fiction so what's the difference utopian Fiction more on perfect ideal or you know just uh you have a civilization and the author's deem to be a perfect ideal societies dystopian fiction it's more on the novel satirizing the government rules again a poverty oppression and we also have the apocalyptic fiction this is more on stories that take place before and during the huge disaster that wipes up a significant portion of the world's population while the post-apocalyptic it is the from the word boss it's more on the after no event and focus on the survivors survivors and they're creating this the story is not in about navigations total breakdown of society we also have yeah the alternate history fiction so from the word alternate history yanson we have already the idea well this one is stories that focus on true historical events that are written as they unfold with different outcomes Ayan and last but not least America's way from home or no way home yeah no way home from Spider-Man or you don't want to promote but then again I know you're excited to watch also so we have here the superhero fiction these are stories about superheroes and how they use their abilities to fight the super villains okay so these are actually the flashback shots okay moving on to the next we also have number six digit fiction from the word Digi digital no so actually we speak of digital fiction this is to get the full story of students engaged in so that before you understand this digit fiction you have to have these skills to have this to understand the disaffection of words we have the navigation and then reading and viewing in all three forms if you're going to speak it up those triple media literature book and then movie or video and then we also have the internet and the website so we have their written from the red computer the Skeleton Creek The level 26 okay and these are actually different to ebooks however hyper poetry hyper poetry so actually these are digital poetry that we can see you seeing links Etc so this this is one of the examples we have here the butterfly okay entitle The Watch Me Whip okay it's actually it's more on how the the characteristic of a butterfly which is not only where in it's like an image no image of something a butter that signifies something are you on okay more on of that examples still under the digi fiction yeah choice of college and of course number seven we have here the text talk novels novels are narratives stories um dialogue simulating social media exchanges novels and these are close in need to each other next number eight oh again additional information from the word text not from the text it's mobile phone poetry using short traditional formal verses like tanaga which is or which has 777 syllables count with a a b b a b a b or a b b a rhyme scheme and moving on we have the doodle fiction so actually we speak of doodle fiction this is more on literary where the authors incorporates drawings writings again handwritten Graphics an example of that we have the union I don't know the Diary of a Wimpy Kid by uh Jeff Kenny and Tim Timmy Failure by Stephen paste and I know you're familiar with yeah yeah are you familiar with late uh Senator Miriam defense or Santiago yeah she might have lost in the election Way Way Back in 2016 but she has has won the hearts of many of many of our wheat because of her sense of you more in her book published in way back in 2014 ignorance call me cured stupid is Forever The Iron Lady of Asia proves that only politicians like her can spontaneously make people laugh as she brings up recollection of wine liners pick up lines ayanda with the jokes and political settings and moving on to number nine number nine the blog so this blog is a web blog a website contains being written by one person containing his own opinion positive thoughts positive ideas okay interests experiences While others are written by other people and Ops number 10 I know this is the last guess this starts with letter C we have eyeglasses it's a girl's thing what is it and it starts with letter c okay well this is a chick literature well words he speak of chick literature from the word chick no it's a modern Womanhood often numerous and light-heartedly women empowerment and focusing on social lives a relationship of being professional women and yeah number 11 we have the creative non-fiction from the word creative and non-fiction describes the form where we speak of creative refers to the use of literary crops techniques writers used to tell stories about real people and events while non-fiction it's a part of yes yeah writing down just yes as using anecdotes yeah and while actually when you speak of non-fiction it's a compelling Vivid dramatic manner okay and of course for fictional elements are employed to create a cohesive Story character development speaking of this no so word creative well for example because in Creative nonfiction actually the goal of this is to communicate a bit of a real world a personal experience a scientific discovery okay A History A place a person in a way that will sing on a page in form and change readers and make an impact all right so make sure everything is factual accurate so these are the golden rules of writing creative non-fictional I know we'll be encountering this subject even in Senior High School no so play with persons make sure so make sure that everything is factual and yeah accurate okay play with person because I mean play with person considering the shifting from the first person to third person or vice versa we also consider this as one of the golden rules that we have not by um by Mark Caldwell okay this is more on Creative non-fiction writer often often listen to their emotions yeah and how their feelings affect the shape and tone of their writings and lastly we have the incorporate literary techniques like the synagogy metaphor allegory Okay so oh yeah and many more I am so that's it tutor Floyd and yours truly would like to live a very very nice quote about the context according to Gregory Bateson without context words and actions will be misinterpreted or may have no meaning at all
