[Music] all right so i want to i want to say thank you uh to mnlt uh for hosting me here for this weekend it was a last second decision almost it's it was uh it wasn't a lot of time to plan a lot of things so i really appreciate that and then second of all i want to thank those of you who are here uh that you came uh to hear and to listen and i just pray that the father will bless you guys amen all right so i want to share with you guys uh some some things uh the father's been showing uh from the book of revelation uh tina and i we started studying the book of revelation earnestly about a year ago and up until that time we had just just kind of been hit and missed and um so what we're going to share is some of the things that that we've learned especially over the past year or so so we're really excited about it and we're going to go ahead and get started so tonight tonight's going to be i guess you would call it the technical part of the talk so we're going to give about five different talks this one's gonna be a little on the technical side and then uh we'll get to some teaching and then some preaching uh but uh we're gonna we're gonna do a little bit of technical stuff today we're gonna talk about uh the structure of the book of revelation um i uh this is going to be uh uh it's it's not uh uh it's not technical just for the the point of being technical but it's very important we have to understand how the book is organized so the first the first thing that we're going to do is we're going to tackle the problem of chronology and biblical narratives so the chronology okay so i'm sure that all of you i'm sure mostly everyone here has read the book of revelation and as you read through it you're kind of like okay so what really comes what comes after what i mean is this in chronological order or and i think probably most of us already know well no it's not it it's not only in chronological order okay uh so it seems like john is just kind of you know java said john is just saying hey i looked and i looked and i saw and then he'll spend a couple of paragraphs and he says and then i looked and i saw and then he'll spend a couple of paragraphs there he says and then you know so it's just one right after another he's just going back and forth and so uh the question is uh is what's going on uh what how is this this passage laid out okay so what i want to say is that the book of revelation is mainly it's it's i don't even know if i can say mainly but it is chronological uh but that's not the only consideration that the holy spirit gave john when john wrote the book so there is there is a certain aspect of it that is chronological however uh as with many biblical narratives many of them are not chronological okay many of them are not chronological and it seems that the holy spirit um it seems that for his reasons that uh he chose that the book of revelation would be like many other biblical narratives and that it would be told in a thematic pattern okay it'd be told in a thematic pattern a pattern based on themes and so that's what i want to share with you today and i want to give you a couple of quick examples of what i mean by a thematic pattern uh thematic order versus chromatic versus chronological order okay so the the two the two best examples that i can come up with are um the story of the devs of nadav and avihu and uh the story of the the battle of israel with mid yan so let's go to leviticus chapter 10 in leviticus chapter 10 it describes the death of nadav and avihu and it says verse 2 it says so fire went out from the lord and devoured them and they died before the lord okay so now look at where we are we're in leviticus chapter two and that's when they died it explains how they died what happened in the aftermath and so forth now we go from leviticus 10 we go 11 12 13 14 15 and we will get over to 16 verse 1 notice how it starts now the lord spoke to them to moses after the death of the two sons of aaron when they offered profane fire before the lord and died so if you're if you're paying if you're really paying attention you should be thinking well this doesn't make sense because they died back in leviticus chapter 10 right in leviticus chapter 10 verse 2 as a matter of fact it says that they died before the lord and yet in leviticus 16 verse 1 moses starts writing as if they just died in chapter 15 right you see that so leviticus 10 they died and then leviticus 16. now the lord spoke to moses after the death of the two sons of aaron whoa what was chapters 11 through 15 about okay what were those about and so it almost seems as if chapters 11 through 15 were quote unquote inserted between leviticus 10 and leviticus 16 okay and so what's going on here and we can't go into this but there's a reason why so so everything from leviticus 10 through 15 it has it does have something to do with their deaths okay and it's just the way moses chose to do that how about this one how about numbers chapter 25 so you remember the incident of ba'al peor remember the children of israel they were on the plains of moab okay on the plains of moab ready to enter into the land and take the land and remember the midianites and the moabites they got a plan together on how they could they could uh kind of throw a wrench in the works there right and they sent their women over uh to to co-mingle with the children of israel now numbers 25 verses 17 to 8 18 it reads this way and adonai commanded moses to harass the midianites and attack them for they harassed you with their schemes by which th which they seduced you in the matter of poor okay in the way they seduced you so that's that's numbers chapter 25. so adonai says okay go attack them okay so that's numbers 25 then you have numbers 26 numbers 27 numbers 28 numbers 29 numbers 30 and then in numbers 31 look at how verse 1 begins and the lord spoke to moses saying take vengeance on the midianites for the children of israel afterward you shall be gathered to your people and so here again we have this instance of where the commandment to attack the midianites was given back in numbers chapter 25 that's when he said harass them you need to harass them but it's not until uh chapter 31 and so again the same thing happens chapter 31 begins and the lord spoken to moses take vengeance on the midianites and you would think that he had just said what he said in numbers 25 when in actuality there were all sorts of chapters in between that okay so it's just another example of how the bible is not written strictly in chronological order it's written in thematic order and there are reasons why uh the father had the authors of the bible put things in certain places now you're going to uh tonight you're going to witness an absolutely beautiful example of that for the book of revelation because see the book of revelation one of the reasons why it's difficult to understand is because it's written primarily in a thematic pattern and i would say secondarily chronological order so we want to do that so we want to look at that and figure out what's going on so it may seem like it's just the book of revelation it may seem like it's just a series of visions that are kind of haphazardly pieced together uh with john running around song saying and i saw this and then and i saw this and i saw that and just kind of writing down uh you know just kind of writing things down uh haphazardly but that's not what was going on so what we want to do is we want to understand what was the guiding principle concerning how uh the different narratives in the book of revelation were were arranged okay so the book of revelation as i said is written primarily in a thematic pattern and that's what we're going to that's what we're going to look at tonight so i want to introduce two of those and one on one is is called chiasm or chiastic structures the other is parallelism and these are the bible's two most often used thematic patterns and so let's talk about a chiasm first so chiastic structure is a literary technique where a story is told in two halves okay the entire story is broken up into two halves all right and all of the themes you what will happen is in the first half of this in the first half of the story let's say you saw three themes well what will happen in the kaiser structure is in the second half of the story you will see the same themes developed in reverse order okay in reverse order so typically and typically there is a center portion of of the chiastic structural structure and it's called the central axis okay in the central axis it it typically will function in one of two ways it's either the most important point of the story right and this is going to be important for us it's either the most important part of the story and is highlighted by being made the central axis of the converging themes or it could be the point of turning in a story so for instance when when absalom attacked david when he tried to take the kingdom from david that story second samuel chapter i think it's five verse ten to twenty verse two all of those chapters are told in this chastic pattern and in the first half you have a bunch of themes that are developed and then you have the central axis the central axis is when some of david's friends they brought him figs and cakes and raisins and some provisions so in in this story the central axis is functioning as the turning point because from the beginning of the story of absalom's rebellion everything is negative everything is going south really really quick david finds out that absalom is about to try to take over the kingdom david has to hightail it out of jerusalem okay and and just one negative event after another one negative event after another and then you hit the central axis where these men bring uh figs and raisins and cakes and provisions for david and from that point on everything is positive david uh he gets uh they encourage david they form an army they go they fight they win they return okay so it's just a perfect example of how the central axis functions as the point of turning okay so the whole bible is filled with these you literally cannot read one page of your bible without being in a chiastic structure some of them are just a couple of verses long some of them are many chapters long some of them the first half is in one book and the second half is in another book totally complete book and so it's just pretty amazing but the other way that it functions is as the divine highlighter it functions the central axis can it's out a nice way of saying you want to know what in this entire story here in this entire story everything hinges upon right here this right here which is in the center okay and so we want to we want to be able to pay attention to that so it would look like this um i see that i'm gonna have to work on my color scheme for point one there is a theme one there there is a theme one up there there is an a theme one as a matter of fact here okay yes there's a theme one there and there's a theme two here a theme one here so basically what happens is here's the story here's the first half right here and let's say there's a theme one a theme two and a theme three developed in the first half of the story in a chiastic pattern what will happen is you'll say that you'll see the same themes developed in the second half of the story theme theme one theme two theme three and then you'll have um the central axis okay so that right there is a parallel that is a chiastic structure the other major pattern that the bible talks about and again as i told you this is going to be this is the technical part here right so but it's going but it's very very important because it's going to help us understand the book of revelation um the parallelism on the other hand is similar to a chiastic structure but in a parallelism the themes that are developed in the first half of the story will repeat in the second half of the sort story in the same order okay they'll repeat in the same order so we're going to look at this again so right here we have theme one theme two and theme three so this is just as you're reading chronologically through a story like you know maybe verse one verse two verse three and you're gonna see three themes well in the second half of the story you're going to see and then there's a little mischief here this should be theme one theme two and theme three here okay should be theme one theme two theme three and they're going to repeat in the same order okay now something else that can happen because because because the the lord is very uh he's creative he's very creative and sometimes you can have a mixture of the the chiastic structure and the parallelism so in this case right here you have the main story is a parallelism a b c and then a prime b prime c prime but then the middle is arranged chiastically d e f and then f e d okay so we when we get to these we'll take our time with them and we'll make sure that we all understand what's going on okay but basically those are the two types of patterns that the bible uses um in the different narratives and again the whole point here is that a lot of times the bible is not just written in chronological order it's written in a thematic pattern and so if you want to understand it you have to understand the thematic pattern and the thematic pattern is going to help you interpret the book and and see what's going on so this is what i want to posit to you today excuse me and we're going to we're going to spend the rest of the evening looking at this right here to understand the book of revelation the first thing you need to understand is how it's laid out and you are now looking at how the book of revelation is laid out is laid out with five themes in the first half of the book okay five themes a abcde or theme one through five and then those five themes are going to repeat themselves in the second half of the book of revelation okay and then and and they're they're they're related chiastically so the first theme theme one in the first half of the of the bible is the last theme theme one in the second half and you can see how they kind of converge to the central axis okay and so one of the things that we want to do today is we want to we want to see this we want to break up the book of revelation into all these different parts see how they relate to each other and what we can learn from them okay and most important of all most important of all you see this right here we want to know what that is we want we want to you want to know what that is don't you right i already heard them right because i mean i just said right a chiastic structure it's either it's either the point of turning and in the book of revelation is not the point in turning because it's negative from beginning no i'm just kidding it's not negative from beginning to end i'm just kidding it's not but um in the book of revelation the central axis it functions as the if you want to understand this book and if you want to understand what's going on in this book you have to understand this and once we get to it we're going to we're going to spend about we'll probably spend three different lectures you know figuring out okay well what is it telling us okay what is it telling us all right so what we want to do is um let me just go back uh [Music] so back is actually this way uh so i want to look at that last slide so so there's this so notice we have a b c d e right and then a prime b prime c prime d prime e prime in this in the second half okay so what we're going to do is we're going to we're going to look at a b c d and so forth okay all right so let's look at a a prime b and b prime so what i've told you is that um the themes in the first half are going to repeat in the second half so theme a in the first half is going to match with theme a prime in the second half okay and so let's see what we're talking about here they share similar themes and when i say themes i mean that they are thematically connected they have similar things now this is what i mean by similar themes they have similar words themes subjects situation events and or circumstances all right so in other words there are going to be certain words themes subjects situation events or circumstances in the first half of the book of revelation that will reappear in the second half in this pattern here called the chiastic structure okay and the reason why is because again as i said when the holy spirit had the prophets write scripture they had them in many many most of the time write them in these patterns okay so what we're going to look what we're going to be doing is we're going to be looking for these similar themes now here's the first example we're looking at a and a prime at the v in the very so a is revelation 1 verses 1 through 20. okay revelation 1 1 through 20. and there are many themes in revelation 1 1 through 20 that are going to repeat at the end of the book in revelation chapter 22 i think verses 6 to 21 or 22 somewhere around we'll have the scripture reference in a second now notice what it says here remember at the beginning when john started writing and he said and it says god gave his show his god gave to show him to show his servants the things which must shortly take place remember that phrase that exact phrase is repeated in revelation 22 verse 6 to show his servants the things which must shortly take place everyone see what i mean by a common theme right it's the exact same word okay it's the exact same word how about this one right here in revelation 1 17 it says and when i saw him i fell at his feet as dead well in revelation 22 verse 8 at the end it says hey and when i heard i saw and i fell down the worship before the feet of the angel okay and so what's happening is that the things that are happening in the very first part of the book of revelation are repeating and being echoed in the second half of the book of revelation how about this one in revelation 1 3 blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy well where do we see that again in revelation chapter 22 verse 18 where it says everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book okay and so these these are the signs of divine authorship where the themes are repeating from the first and second half okay so these connections they're inspired by the holy spirit and what they do is they show us that adonai he wants us to consider revelation chapters 1 1-20 with revelation chapter 22 6 through 21 as we read the book okay so in other words there are going to be things here that are going to help us here and there are going to be things here in revelation 1 1-20 that will help us here in revelation 22 6-21 because see adonai is not a man that he should not lie know the son of man that he should repent hath he said and shall he not do it has he spoken and shall he not bring it to pass because he's going to do things the way he wants to see if i were writing this i wouldn't have done it that way right because i'm you know we're human right i would have put it all together right okay right so i would have had everything in rev i would have had everything in revelation 1 1 through 20 and 22 6 through 21 all in chapter one paragraph a [Laughter] right and there wouldn't be any doubt about how to read the book of revelation right and then i have paragraph b and then right but so but i'm not the holy spirit and you guys should be thankful you should be thankful all right so this same cannot this all right so so this same phenomenon you see the same phenomenon if you read revelation chapters two to three the letters to the congregations right letters to the congregations not the churches the letters to the congregations or the assemblies the themes that you see in revelation chapter 2 verse in chapter 2 chapter 3 you see those same themes in revelation 21 1-22-5 all right and let's see what some of those are revelation 2 7 it says to him who overcomes i will give to eat from the tree of life which is in the midst of the paradise of god well in revelation 22 verse 2 it says in the middle of the street and on either side of the river was the tree of life which bore 12 fruits each yielding its fruit every month okay so what we're about to see now is that things in chapter you know the themes that we see in chapter two through three we're going to see in revelation chapter uh uh i i can't i don't remember the verses but we'll see them in a second all right revelation 3 12 and i will write on him my new name well if you go to revelation 22 4 it says they shall see his face and his name shall be on their foreheads okay so it's a repeating so this is so and again you know as i said so much of scripture is written this way revelation chapter 3 verse 12 i will write on him the name of my god and the name of the city of my god the new jerusalem which comes down from heaven from my god well if you read over in revelation 21 2 it says then i john saw guess what he saw the holy city and what is it called new jerusalem coming down out of heaven from god prepared as a bride adorned for her husband okay and so right here this is a summary of the connections that we that we've made so far so again the chiastic pattern is that every the themes in the first half will repeat in the second half in reverse order so we have revelation 1 1 through 20 is theme a in the first half and in the second half a prime is revelation 22 6 through 21 okay and then the second theme b is revelation chapters two to three those are going to repeat in the second half b prime revelation 21 1 through 22 verse 5. okay and that's kind of that's the pattern so what i've done is the other thing that i've done is i have summarized so so in other words and let me just say one thing from revelation the number of connections between revelation 1 1 through 20 and revelation 22 6 through 21 there are over 25 connections between those two passages okay over 25 similar words similar phrases similar circumstances similar events similar situations things of that nature similar subject theme topic definitely 25 okay and so what's gonna so so what we're gonna see here is that is is is that these themes are repeat are pointing to each other a to a prime b to b prime so what i've done is this i know that revelation 1 1 the 20 and revelation 22 6-21 i know that adonai wants me to see those as one unit as one unit so what i've done is i've just said okay how do i how do i summarize what each one is about so if i summarize revelation 1 1-20 it was john's prophecy of yeshua's second coming so if you read revelation chapter 1 it's going to talk about a lot of things you know how you know the vision of you know the vision of yeshua the introduction the hello hey you know i'm writing to you you remember all the candlesticks and all of this and all that but basically what he said was he said remember he said i see him and he's coming in the clouds and the whole purpose for the book he said is because he's going to return this is john's prophecy of yeshua's second coming well at the very end yeshua i summarize all that by saying it's yeshua's prophecy of his second coming because remember at the very end yeshua steps onto the scene he says hey i'm coming quickly so you see not only do you have all of these individual connections between all the between all of these words and phrases and situations and circumstances but when you look overall at the message the first part of the message is john is basically saying hey i'm about to give you the revelation of yeshua messiah and then right at the end yeshua says hey i'm coming back i'm coming quickly hold on to what you have right and the same thing revelation two through three those were the letters to the congregations right so what is those were admonishments and promises to those who overcome right does everyone remember that the letters to the congregations have i have i done it like halfway decent job of summarizing that right all right i just want to hear amen every once in a while right those were the admonishments right he was like hey hey you got this woman jezebel here right and she's messing with my servants so he was admonishing them right and he said hey you know what i you know those those people that said they were prophets and they were not prophets right he's admonishing them but at the same time he gave them promises to him who overcomes to him who overcomes to him overcomes well guess what revelation 21 1-22-5 those are the blessings and the fulfillment of the promises to all of those who overcame you see so you can see how this book you can see how this book even though it looks like it's a hodgepodge of oh i saw this let me write about it oh i saw that let me write about this and and you're kind of thinking well there's no order here i mean it just seems like he's just going back and forth no no no no no no no no no and we're just getting started here tonight this book has all sorts of order as we as we as we keep going here right in the middle here we're going to we're going to see some order here so let's look at the revelation let's look at revelation let's look at elements c and c prime okay so we went through a and b now we're going to go through elements c and c prime and it's going to get a little more complicated here but in a beautiful sort of way so next we should see c and c prime now i want you to now see is revelation 4 1 through 6 17. now that's quite a bit of scripture there that's not like revelation 1 1 through 20 right and it's thematically connected to c prime which is revelation 17 1 to 20 verse 15. that's a lot of chapters there so what's happening in this one is we all right so remember in a and a prime there were lots of similar words and phrases remember in b and b prime lots of similar words and similar phrases when we get to c we're going to see something a little different all right so this is where we are right here we got a b now we've got c revelation 4 1 through 6 17. in revelation 17 1 through 20 verse 15. we want to look how are those thematically connected because that's a big hunk of scripture and that's a big hunk of scripture right there too so what happens in c and c prime instead of instead of just sharing uh simple random uh words similar words themes subjects circumstances events etc elements c and c prime show a very highly organized parallel structure and what do i mean by that elements c and c prime actually share five unique themes each other in pair in a parallel structure as follows now this is what's going to happen here notice that we're just going chronologically through here revelation 4 1 through 11 then 5 1 to 5 10 5 11 to 5 14 6 1 through 8 9 17. you see we're just we're just reading chronologically through the passage the same thing here at the end revelation 17 1 through 18 18 1-24 chapter 19 1-10 19-11-21-20 chapter 21-15 that's just chronological but what's going to happen is section c shares five themes with section c prime and it goes like this and verses four one through eleven is a picture of adonai sitting on his throne of holiness and it's told in parallel with the harlot sitting on the beast in her filthiness you see so we're not just we're not just talking about just you know the same words here you know just you know the same words this get this is getting deep here right so there's a contrast and the bible wants us to see this contrast because part of the whole the part of the whole uh subject of the book of revelation is about two different women there's one who's a beautiful bride and there's one who's a horrible harlot okay and so this one right here and i think we can see this connection here him sitting on his throne because it that was the vision in chapter four right in his holiness because every time you turn around the 24 elders right they're falling down and they're casting their count crowns before the throne and they're saying kadosh kadosh kadosh right it's in contrast okay sorry it's in contrast to the harlot who was sitting on top of the beast and it talks about the cup of her filthiness the exact opposite of the holiness of adonai right what's the next one john weeping and interceding for someone to open the seals that is told in parallel with the people who are weeping and lamenting over the destruction of babylon what a contrast what a contrast do you see how the themes in the first half are repeating in the second half right all creation the third theme all creation worshiping the lamb who was worthy to open the seals in in revelation 19 1-10 it was multitudes worshiping adonai for judging babylon the harlot and beginning to reign so in both the begin in the first half and the second half it was it was all about those who are giving praise to our god but for different reasons there the first four seals and the initial judgments upon the earth that's revelation six one through eight and then that's told in parallel with revelation 19 11-21 yeshua's advent and the judgment of the earth and then lastly uh revelation 6 9-17 the cries for justice from the saints and the prophecy of the day of judgment that's told in parallel with revelation 21-15 the reward for the saints and the final judgment upon satan and unbelievers okay so in other words right here what's happening is this is the begin the beginning and i'm going to give you the the overall summary so the summary for c is the initiation of the tribulation and the cries and prayers for the judgment of the wicked that's right that's what i'm saying is summarizing all five of the themes in c c one through c five okay and then in the second half in c prime revelation 17 1 through 2015 i'm saying all that is summarized by the final judgments of the wicked and the end of the tribulation in other words it all began initiation of tribulation and cries and prayers for judgment and it's going to end here the final judgments of the wicked and the end of the tribulation okay because this is the pattern okay this is how this is how adonai had john arranged and so guess what guess what as i said before we don't have a hodgepodge of stories we don't have just a hodgepodge of stories that don't seem to make sense you know we're like well this is no chronological order how are you going to figure this out right the way we figure it out is we go to him and we say how do you have this arranged and we recognize you know this the structure here and once we see this now we can see that there's all sorts of order there's all sorts of order here and beauty that uh we can see all right so by now you should begin to realize that the book of revelation is a highly ordered book how many of you agree with me with me that when you read the book of revelation it doesn't seem like it has any order right i mean i'm only only one i mean let's be honest right it's just it seems like john's on ritalin or something you know it seems like he's like it's just i mean seriously it just seems like he's like you know he's just writing you know it's like okay i was just throwing this here together and i throw this here right look at our order look at how much order that i mean this book can you imagine even trying to sit down could you imagine if if value and i if if alder and i said uh marcel let's pick on marcel marcel you're sitting back there looking like a good victim you came in here late you know that did you know that [Laughter] right all right victim no um supposing marcel though suppose not and i he came to you and said hey you know what i want you to write the book of revelation for me and he said now what i want you to do is i want you to write it in a casting pattern and he's like you got to have 450 connections and you think i don't even think that i could sit down and plan that okay so this book is very very highly ordered right it's not a potpourri it's not a potpourri of miscellaneous uh miscellaneous visions that have been haphazardly strewn together right it has a lot of order so let's look at element let's look at elements d and d prime okay elements d and d prime so that's what we should see next and guess what we're going to see those and look what happens we got another we have another huge chunk revelation 7 1 through 10 11 is element d and in the second half d prime is 14 1 through 16 21 a couple more big chunks right so let's see how they're going to be related this is how this is our developing castic structure oops sorry about that of the book of revelation a b c d a prime b prime c prime d prime right so this is what the this is this is how the book of revelation is organized okay so sorry about that i'm shooting people with a laser oh see i'm dangerous i don't want to put any eyes out up here it's like i saw that red dial sorry about that okay i'm going to be very very very more guarded with this um let's keep going so just like elements c and c prime elements d and d prime they cover a lot of territory right so let's look and see what's going on here so with element d and d prime is similar to c and c prime the only difference is that instead of having five uh thematic units we have we have four thematic units so again just look we're just going chronologically down here from verse chapter 7 through chapter 10 and then chapter 14 through chapter 16. okay all right so let's see what we got here ah so chapter 7 verses 1 through 17 is about the 144 thousand okay well guess what oops i don't want to do that yet guess what chapter 14 verses one through in chapters 14 well not all 20 verses about 144 000 there are other things but chapter 14 mentions 144 000 also so here's a question see as you read through the book of revelation you see 144 000 in chapter seven and then you see them in chapter 14 and one of the obvious questions is are these the same right should be an obvious question are they the same well guess what see this is how you use your kaiser structure your casual structure is going to help you answer certain questions and so one of the questions that we can see right here is that yes they are the same because the only reason why they're separated in chapter 7 and chapter 14 is because adonai told had john write the book of revelation in this chiastic pattern the 144 in chapter 7 are the same 144 in chapter 14. and our chiastic structure puts them together right by relating them so that we can see that all right all right next preparation or pray pray you for the seventh seal verses uh chapter 15 verses one through eight preparation prelude for the seven vials right just absolute order judgments upon the earth and upon men in military warfare and again judgments upon the earth men and military these are just again these are um these are summaries these are just uh little phrases that summarize the nature of the connections so in other words well i'll get to that in a second i was just thinking i want to show you something um revelation 10 1-11 is the seven thunders and revelation 16 17-21 is the seventh vial judgment so everyone's wondering what are the seven thunders and i'm still wondering what they are too but you know what i believe the seven thunders have something to do with the seventh vial judgment and that and the reason why is because the caster structure is pointing me to that realization okay now let's look at an overall summary for all of this all of this entire section from chapter 7 verse 1 to chapter 10 verse 11 i call that reward for the righteous and the seven trumpets and seven thunders for the wicked that's how i tried to summarize all of that so if you were to go home and read chapter 7 to chapter 10 that's kind of an overall summary whereas uh in chapter 14 through 16 i said it was a reward for the righteous and the seven vowel judgments for the wicked same thing just different judgments okay now here's what we haven't done and this is what we're going to do now i've shown you how element d has four different sub units and d prime has four different sub units and i've told you that d1 is connected to d1 prime right now this is what we're going to do remember how element a and a prime the nature of all the connections with similar words similar phrases similar themes well the same thing is occurring here it's just that it's just that um in order to show this to you um i have to put in a more con a more um concise i have to put it like this but this is what we're going to do we're going to look at revelation 7 1-17 and we're going to look at nine specific thematic connections between revelation 7 1-17 and how they thematically connect with revelation 14 1-20 so that you can see yes those two those two passages are connected to each other you see what i'm saying so in other words we're going what we're going to do is we're going to look at the basis we're going to look at the basis for saying that revelation 7 1-17 is thematically connected to revelation 14 1-20 we're going to look at that basis right now all right so um all right so here they are all right so we'll breeze through these because when you see them they're going to be self-explanatory right after these now what you want to do is you want to pay attention to anything that's bold italicized in color other than white okay so the connections are going to be color-coded okay all right so in revelation 14 1-20 then i looked and behold after these things i saw then i looked and i behold it says four angels standing a lamb standing you see the nature of the connections there okay let's look at the next one then i saw then i looked and behold and it talks about having the seal of the living god till we have sealed the servants of our god on their foreheads having his father's name written on their foreheads if you wanted to know in revelation 7 where it says that he's going to seal them on their forehead if you want to understand well what is that seal it gives you the answer in revelation 14 it's the father's name written on their foreheads okay and see you and again you see once we understand how how adonai has organized the book of revelation then these connections as again as i said the first half is there to help you understand the second half and the second half is there to help you understand the first half how about this one the number of those who were sealed right um having his father's name written on their foreheads 144 144 000. again that's why i said we know that the 144 000 in chapter 7 are the same as 144 000 in chapter 14 because they're related chiastically how about this and he cried and they sang to the four angels before the four living creatures again similar words similar phrases similar themes how about connection number five and i heard chapter 14 verse two and i heard a voice from heaven and i heard the sound let's look at this one number six quite a few connections after these things i looked and behold then i looked and behold a great multitude which no one could number of all nations tribes peoples and tongues versus he had 144 000. so you say well well one of them says all sorts of tribes and and then this one right here says 144 000 right both of them are explaining to you a large number of people okay standing before the throne and before the lamb standing on mount zion clothed with white robes the white robes are what the righteous works of the saints right look at this right here uh these are the ones who are not defiled with women for their virgins and these in their mouth was found no deceit for they are without fault before the throne of god that is explaining their righteousness whereas when those are clothed with white robes that's explaining their righteousness just doing it in different ways but that's the connection and they're crying out with a loud voice saying salvation belongs to our god and they sang as it were a new song so both groups are singing all right how about connection number seven these are the ones who come out of the great tribulation right here thrusting your sickle and reap for the time has come for you to reap for the harvest of the earth is ripe so he who sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle and the earth was wreaked everyone everyone wants to know well when are we going up into the clouds right that's where it is right there revelation 14 14-16 when i was here a month or two ago remember we talked about this [Laughter] all right so and for those of you might not remember or for those of you who weren't here these are the ones who come out of great tribulation right they died but their got they get resurrected here that's the connection between the two okay all right revelation uh [Music] right here the lamb who sits in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and leave them verses these are the ones who follow the lamb wherever he goes right makes perfect sense these are the ones who come out of the great tribulation now watch this what is the patience of the saints blessed are the dead who die in the lord from now on yes yes says the spirit that they may rest from their labors this right here is all this right here is talking about what those who died in the tribulation okay because they love not their lives to the death and that's what this is talking about right here okay all right so that was d and d prime so now let's look at e and e prime all right so we should see e and e next so guess what's next this is coming next revelation chapter 11 is thematically connected with revelation chapter 13. okay right here revelation the two witnesses in chapter 11 and the two beasts in chapter 13. so let's see how they are related now those are going to be related the way a and a prime and b and b prime were lots of similar words similar phrases etc etc so let's take a look at some of those revelation 11 verse 7 says when they finish their testimony the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them well that's look at the words in yellow bold italicized print if you go over to revelation 13 it says and i saw a beast rising up out of the sea right that's connected to the beast ascending in verse chapter 11 verse 7 the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit bottomless pit chapter 13 verse 1 and i saw a beast rising up out of the sea and i saw another beast come up out of the earth they're they're connected in the sense that both are talking about the beast rising chapter 11 and the 24 elders who sat before god on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped god saying we give thanks to you o o lord god almighty that's connected to revelation 13 4 so they worshipped the dragon who gave authority to the beast and they worshiped the beast saying who was like the beast so it's a contrast there of those who are worshiping adonai right those who are worshipping adonai versus those who are worshiping the beasts over in chapter 13. how about revelation 11 2 believe out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it for it has been given to the gentiles and they will tread the holy city under foot for 42 months that's thematically connected to it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them the idea being the the warfare against the saints in both of those chapters there revelation chapter 11 verses 5 through 6 and if anyone wants to harm them fire proceeds from out of their mouth out of their mouth and devours their enemies that's one connection in yellow the second one is these have the power to shut heaven they have the power over waters to turn in the blood and to strike the earth with al with all plagues that's thematically connected to revelation 13 13 where it says he performs great signs so that he even makes fire come down from heaven so the fire coming down from heaven from the false prophet is being thematically is being thematically connected to uh the fire that proceeds from the mouth of aldonas two witnesses verses he was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast that the image of the beast should should speak and the same thing up here and they gave and and they gave power and they have no let me see these have power to shut up heaven so the idea there is that the common connection there is that adonai was giving his witnesses power and authority to do things ha satan was giving the two beasts their power and their authority to do things and so it's contrasting those so that's what the scripture is doing for us okay all right now after now after three and a half days the breath of life from god entered them and they stood on their feet remember the witnesses remember they're going to be killed right in the holy city they're going to be killed and it says that they're going to let their bodies lay out in the street for three and a half days and after three and a half days it says the spirit of god is going to enter them and they're going to rise okay you know what that's thematically connected to telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived and his deadly wound was healed now those of you you know who familiar with with the teaching that we do called the sign of the messiah right messiah yeshua was killed and resurrected in three days so you know hassatan is a copycat and what he's going to do in order to deceive the nations is the anti-messiah is going to be killed and resurrected and this right here is one of the connections that shows you that because in revelation chapter 11 when the two witnesses stand up on their feet after their resurrection that's the connection to his deadly wound was healed okay so what are they doing is doing is he's showing us yes yes the antichrist is going to die he's going to be brought back to life you say well how how like only god can can can bring back people from the dead well you know what you know what he he can give he can give power and authority to the devil to do whatever he wants you remember when the ch i'll tell you something that's that's probably crazier than that remember when moses remember when moses approached pharaoh and he said let my people go and he took that piece of wood that wouldn't staff and he threw it on the ground what happened to it what did the magicians of egypt do did they not take another piece of inanimate object right had no life in it at all right and they threw it down and what happened to it well it became a living being right a snake so yeah satan can do that it's not taking adonai by surprise that satan can do that as a matter of fact adonai is like i'm the one that gave you the power and authority to do that for my own purposes so yeah yeah the anti-messiah and you know you know what see beloved this is why adonai says you know what if it were possible even the elect would be deceived that's how that's how crazy things are going to get here right so and i'm not i'm not trying to be dramatic at all but i'm telling you the word of god right here that anti-messiah is going to receive a deadly wound and it's going to get healed and it's going to be a resurrection and people all over the world are going to follow him just like it says there who can make war with the beast and it's all because they love not the truth because the gospel of yeshua's death burial and resurrection has been preached for 2000 years and they're going to choose not to believe in his resurrection but they're going to choose to believe in the resurrection of the anti-messiah but the whole idea the the whole lot you know this whole idea of the spirit of deception right if anyone wants to harm them he must be killed in this manner that is thematically connected that's invert chapter 11 and then in chapter 13 he who kills with the sword must he he who kills with the sword must also be killed with the sword we have what five minutes okay good because i'm i'm pretty much there all right now we can identify the central axis some of you should have been able to guess by now what's the central axis revelation what chapter 12. revelation chapter 12. boom a b c d a abcde revelation 12 1-17 the war between the woman and her seed with the dragon and his seed that is the central axis of the book of revelation and as i said the central axis functions is one of two ways and it's not the point where everything that was going one direction starts going the other direction so we already know that revelation chapter 12 is the divine highlighter that adonai is using and say you know what you want to understand the book of revelation you need to get into this chapter right here everything in the book of revelation is about this chapter here we're going to spend the next four lectures digging into revelation chapter 12 so that we can understand why it's so important why it's so important and why adonai has highlighted it for us right why adonai has highlighted that for us it's the central axis of the entire book of revelation it all hinges upon revelation chapter 12 and i want to submit to you that adonai is the one who's pointing us to revelation chapter 12 it's his work they're his themes it's his structure right it's his structure all of this is his but it all hinges around chapter 12. and so we're so we're actually we're gonna we're gonna take a small break right here we're going to take a small break right here we're going to do the second uh the the second talk in this and then again you know as we said tomorrow we'll do the rest but from this point on we're going to be looking at revelation chapter 12 to see why adonai has made it the central axis of the entire book of revelation amen [Music] each and every one created in the image [Music] creations [Music]
