Hello students here we are going to learn about network management functions So network management consists of the several functions which are the most important for the different operations maintenance and Finding some fault and the securities purpose of the different and network. So we have start the one by one So first is a performance management. So this PEM is deals with monitoring and the management functionality of the various parameters that measures the performance of the particular or any network.
So the performance management is an essential function that enables a service provider to provide quality of service guaranteed to their client. and to also ensure that the clients comply with the requirement imposed by the particular service provider and performance management is also needed to provide input to the other network management functions or in particular some of the other management of an anonymous condition are detected in the network so they can be provided by the different performance scenario Second is fault management. So the fault management is the function responsible for detecting failures when they happen and isolating the failed component.
So the network also needs to restore traffic that may be disrupted due to the failure of any network or failure of any node. So at that time, fault management is useful for the network performance. so third one is a configuration management so this this management and deals with the set of functions associated with the managing orderly changes in the network the basic function of managing the equipment in the network belongs to this category so this include tracking the equipment in the network and managing the additional or removal of the equipment's different components including rerouting of traffic any additional requirement for the route or traffic they may involve in the management of the software with various version of equipment is available for the network another aspect of configuration management is connection management so they always provide this connection so which means with the setting up taking down keeping the track record of this connections in the particular network so these functions can be performed by a centralized management system so they perform with the configuration management finally the network needs to convert external client signal entering in the optical layer into appropriate signal inside the optical layer so this is the adoption management so next is a security management so security management is include some of administrative function authentication of the user setting the attribute such as a read and write permissions for per user basis or any kind of requirement basis so from a security perspective the network is usually uh parsing into the domains uh like the horizontal and vertical domains so vertical partition is used for or implies the some users may be allowed to access only certain network element not other network element so example like that local craft person may be allowed to access only network element so he is responsible for and not other network element for that particular purpose in the particular network so second case is horizontal parsing So horizontal partition implies the user may be allowed to access some of the parameters associated with the network element across the networks like as IP router, MPLS or network switch. So the user creating some light path means provided the light path for the data path.
