Azure Admin 104 & Azure DevOps 400 Training Overview

so good morning guys morning good evening so let's start so what we're going to do in today's session since day one okay so let's put the agenda so in this training we're going to cover off [Music] Azure admin 104 okay and as devops which is going to be 400 okay majorly we cover these two from a daytoday or from the uh from the working professional perspective when I say working professional you you have uh some some sort of uh it experience and where you want to uh switch to naure or a cloud side okay with let's say uh 3 years or three plus years of experience that you want to Portrait so with the help of this uh Hands-On training program okay how you can handle the day-to-day operations or dayto day operations related to Azure admin and Azure DeVos job role that I will try to focus here okay so apart from that we we we will also touch upon some of the architect solutioning okay so but uh I would say we will not fully uh dive into an architect role because that requires an on premise experience now one more challenge is when you are portra yourself as an architect the basic expectation is you you are currently working as an architect means you you are good in managing Azure you're good in managing a AWS you're good in managing some other cloud like gcp plus you are good at managing or delivering a Solutions in the on premise there is the The Horizon for the RO scope will always expand when it comes to architect so that is the reason we might cover here and there uh few few things in the architect point of view when we are deploying a solution or when you are deriving a solution for our testing but yeah that requires some additional experience in order to crack the realtime architect job R okay so that is one thing even though we try to discuss few things related to architect we will not be able to uh portrait like a complete architect R okay so give me one second okay so in line with this what I'm what I'm trying to understand further is let's say if you are let's say if you are looking for an Azure training program so why only aure okay so why can't we why can't we have a AWS or why can't we have a gcp and so on make sense okay so that that is something we'll try to understand then one more point is let's say if you're particularly looking for a certification program so you can you can pay for 6,000 and prepare the dump and crack it let's say in a week and you are certified so that is not the case right so if you compare the course the content what I have shared again in the in the WhatsApp groups are here and there so if you look at the course content and if you compare with the official course curriculum there are some differences okay so I tried to incorporate few things that people Ed to work on real time so let's say uh Packer is kind of a small tool okay which you will not find in aure official course ccum but yeah we will try to incorporate few things outside of the Azure course content that is reason let's take a quick review at course content on what exactly we're going to cover off in this training program okay so then I hope majority of the people have seen my profile but somebody who really don't know okay so let me quickly share the LinkedIn profile about me what I'm currently working on and other stuff then we'll start with the Cloud deployment models okay and yeah so and if time permits we'll see on premise versus Cloud okay what is the difference between your traditional way of working and Cloud okay so let's let's go ahead and check the Aro training road map let's let's see yeah so these are the these are all these are all the available certifications as of now okay if you're trying for any sort of a azure Azure cloud or Azure support roles okay so if you look at infrastructure is one Element and innovate with the best in apps okay and support with the data so means infrastructure management development and data engineering these are the three core areas where Azure cloud service are being offered nowadays now when it comes to Pure infrastructure or irr respect of your data engineering or in respect of your development or you are a developer if you see at the center Azure fundamentals is common for everyone okay so if you are a 900 certified will you get an offer so nobody is going to offer you any job if you are aure fundamental a900 certified in my view certif taking an exam of a 900 is going to be waste okay or time spending time on these fundamental certification program okay so learning fundamentals I never say time waste but especially cracking an exam for Azure fundamentals is actually a time waste okay why why I'm saying because let's say if you are going to buy a book okay so you are more interested about the content okay so you're not you not uh going to bother about what is there in the index anyway if you read the entire book you'll be able to understand what will be there in the index right so if some somebody is taking exam on top of on top of index and you're going to say I'm prepared and I give a certification that doesn't make any sense for in my view because aure fundamentals will only tell you what all the okay let me open this right so if I go to all services here we look at AI I have a 22 Services analytics Compu if I going to count all this irrespective what kind of job role or what kind of solution that you are implementing doesn't doesn't make any difference okay so what fundamental will try to tell you boss if you combine all these they will try to give you an high level overview on what are the services that we are offering and what are the services that we are going to innovate in next 6 months or next one year with the new uh new Services enhancements and what are the services that we are going to decom or retire in the near future so they'll majorly focus on oh boss this is what my bookstore is we can get all these things from from my bookstore as simple as that okay so taking the certification from the fundamental perspective it's a time waste don't go for it if you already have done because from the covid until today it is being offered free for free I think from starting from this year they again started charging around 4,000 or so or maybe 3,000 I think for the certific ation so after after you know the fundamentals and stuff now based on the current job role what you are currently working on right so you will try to choose the right path for your AO career so when I say if you are if you are into a desktop engineering or if you are into infrastructure if you are into Windows Linux or VMware or any sort of infrastructure related job role that you're currently in so probably you will try for administrator associate security engineer network engineer hybrid desktop and so on sap is again a totally a different Specialties so you should have a prior sap experience so leave about that but yeah until this all these are infrastructure elements now if you are if you good at infrastructure these are the areas that you will focus Okay then if you are good at if you are good at infrastructure plus you are good at some sort of some sort of a application deployment or management and your code deployments and stuff then probably you can you can go for if you see if you're good at these two areas then you can go for architect and you go for devops expert means for devops engineer also the infrastructure knowledge is mandatory because if you are portra you if you're portra yourself as a devops engineer how how come a devops engineer will function without the cloud knowledge first point second point is the devops includes infrastructure deployment as well so nowadays nobody is using the Goa to deploy anything on Azure RWS they have been asked to deploy either using cloud formation templates in AWS or armm templates in aure or common terraform but for both Azure and AWS right so you look at any sort of uh infrastructure management now has become an automated way so people are expecting somebody who is working on asure administrator job Ro they are well vered with the managing the infrastructure as a code elements like as your devops pipeline terraform code understanding the Cod or modify it let's say terraform code will be developed by let's say your devop engineer but being an administrator if they hand over the infrastructure to you and the team the project team is fired because once a project is delivered your your project team will will be laid off right so what's the point of having a project team if there is no project now when it comes to day-to-day operations now Azure portal Azure devop portal your terraform code repositories and everything will be handed over to you now you are the one who need to come up with the enhancements when I say enhancement let's say you deployed one server through terraform and the customer is saying was you deployed a server with three dis I need a fourth dis now you will not go and add the dis in the G gu what you need to do you need to prepare a code in the terraform and review the code with the terraform with your lead or technical expert and push the code and then run the pipeline so that it will automatically add extra dis to the existing server meaning your day-to-day operation has become automated way okay so you cannot really portrait okay I know how to deploy things in GOI that is not going to help in a longer run maybe in a shorter shorter span you'll be able to survive but in a longer run definitely you will not be able to survive without the Azure devops okay so that is only the reason when I say without Azure devops you I'm not expecting you to become expert in a devops okay at least if a devops engineer handed over some project to operations te okay so somebody in the operation should understand the basics of devops and try to run the business as usual so that is something what is expected from a current administrator job roles okay now and one more thing is let's say I have a Windows 2008 R2 Windows 2012 Windows uh what I'll say uh 2019 and 22 these many flavors of os including desktop OS like ABD with Windows 10 and 11 anyway 10 is going to be retired now so Windows 11 and couple of Linux flavors like sand and then red hat and then you have auntu and stuff so I have a mix flavor of virtual machines running on my Azure platform where I could see that more than thousand plus machines are running now I want to identify all the Windows 2008 R2 servers so that I I can plan for an upgrade so being an administrator I'll ask you to prepare a report where I can get only Windows 2008 servers their utilization and the list of servers with the capacity whatever the infrastructure capacity now you cannot go and sit and download the uh download one by one server and then uh sorry check the one by one one by one server and note it down right you at least you need to run some query and pull the data and then put it in the Excel and then filter it out right so for that also your even though your day-to-day operation is admin we are expecting you to run execute some sort of a Powershell command some sort of AA commands and stuff so why I am I why I'm theoretically Port rting all those things if you are only purely trying for these job roles was these job roles or pure pure job roles that does not exist okay it is a combination of your devops plus admin okay if you're expert in infrastructure if you're expert in devops then you can try for devops expert now if you purely expert in the infrastructure you can try for a architect make sense okay now you don't have any sort of infrastructure knowledge but you are good at development then you go for developer associate meaning you are more focused into development area and you know some sort of a development agile and some sort of a uh fed bed and other development well worsed with then you you developed some product okay and then you're more into development uh focused uh focused projects then you're least bothered about your aure infrastructure and other stuff so for them yeah I will take a questions at the end Okay so so uh please make a note of it I'll I'll give some time for the questions at the end okay so developers are let's say they develop some product they want to test it okay they want to deploy and test it so for them a minimalistic Azure knowledge is enough to deploy let's say I have a uh what I'll say react react code is ready where I want to deploy in a container so you simply write a Docker file and comp it it will create a image and just simply run run that in the one of the virtual machine and run the docker container so what what sort of a knowledge the developer should have simple how how to create a Docker file First Step second step is how to create Azure VM Second Step third step how to install the docker and run the container then for his testing he's he survived so he don't have any server locally he don't have any infrastructure locally so he is working on the development area and he want to test that something on cloud so with the minimal knowledge he'll be able to run with this product development life cycle so that is where developer associate comes up with the minimalistic Azure knowledge and based on its horig if he is fully interested in automating Azure as well so once the docker is in Docker is deployed so now it's it's time to scale the product then let's explore the kuties and try to deploy the kuber and then let's explore the site reliability for kuber and try to have a production and Dr okay and then scale it okay in all the directions that is where his skill set is growing but majorly he's a developer he's trying to focus his product to be launched and more more rust and scalable so that is something he used to think of it from a developer perspective okay so now apart from that you have a uh you are let's say DBA and you want to go into or you Informatica or data analytics engineer even even in your traditional job role so you have an opportunity to go into a data science data engineering database ad traditional database administrator and data analytics associate these four roles completely talks about data okay so now how how your Informatica job role looks like in in the traditional way I don't have any visibility I don't have any idea what people used to do it on that particular gray area and from a DVA perspective we have some experience but from a rest of the analytics and uh informatical perspective I don't have any prior knowledge so I'll not be able to tell you what these people will do in their day and day out so now again it's a combination of this uh data analytics and the product development team will come up with the uh data fundamentals AI data engineering and Cosmos DB so these two areas are little graer for me so what what I can say if I portrait like this so let me check okay fine not an issue so we will try to focus if you look at the gray area so we will try to focus the upper section of this this area Okay from a dayto day and from a uh let's say experience Azure admin or Azure devops engineer perspective we will try to cover this portion majorly so considering this I have created the course content okay so now how many certifications that you can take for 104 majorly 104 is something majorly I'm trying to cover off okay and then if I scroll down 400 is measely I'm trying to cover off okay so these two I will I will try to give you some uh some real time uh Hands-On and other stuff now if you have a prior experience in the solutioning if you have a prior experience in uh delivering on premise networking or on premise infrastructure or any sort of a Solutions then this this is this will make your life easy in Azure so once you are uh done with some Hands-On maybe you can try for Azure solution architect okay so role but yeah as I said if I if I go for yeah so as I said if you are looking for an architect definitely organization will look for multikill or multicloud environment experience guy only okay if you're only trying for I'm aure expert yeah you can go and try in a Microsoft but in general manage services or in general the product development companies or in general any sort of it organization who is looking to hire an architect obviously they look for multikills okay so that's pretty much on a overview right so these are the current courses okay so that we're going to consider and cover off so now moving on to why only assure okay why can't we try for an AWS why can't we try for GP gcp and all so the the shortest answer is it is not like a why only Azure or why can't we try for on AWS or gcp it is not R it is down the line it is and so means let's say you join like an Azure administrator and you're working on it for large scale organization down the line they got some new project and for that new project AWS offered them one year free credits to do an R&D la launch the product and materialize once a business is launched anyway you're going to stay with AWS only right because you're going to develop the product in a incompatible with the AWS and or in in in line with the AWS infrastructure and then you're going to find tune for a period of one year so the the contract the what I'll say the terms and condition is when they are offering anything for a for a free credit for your Innovation and development the condition is you need to stay with them for next 3 4 years then only they will offer so once your product is materialized you you're generating some Revenue you're going to expand your horizons in AWS and going to utilize multiple other services so that is where after one year they are trusting you that you're going to do do the business with them okay now since majority of the team members are working on Azure from a day one okay until today now we need somebody who can extend their day to-day operations in AWS as well because I don't want to hire people from outside for AWS again because at the end all the service service related issues I'm going to integrate into service now and all the shift Schedule R Rota and everything or your first line support and everything I'm going to centralize with the one team only okay and the delivery team I not create a separate team for Azure and I'll will not create a separate team for AWS it's going to be one team for cloud delivery okay from a business perspective if you think so if you consider an organization perspective 99% of the organization if you look for the uh large scale I'm talking about okay they they always look for people who has a multi skills and they'll always look for people who has a multicloud knowledge because for them it will be easy to onboard you and assign the task okay randomly from multiple projects let's say you are working on a manage services and when I say manage services you don't have any dedicated customer you work for multiple customers you work for one company but they have multiple projects for multiple uh customers so you will be placed in such a place that you will randomly get a tickets from various customers and any P1 that will you will be you will be looped into so it can be aure it can be AWS it can be anything now if that is the case if you are only looking for Azure and if you are updating your CV with only Azure you may be expert in aure but you are narrowing your scope of job roles okay so if you want to expand your scope of uh applicable job roles you need to have multi skilled profile in your CV when I say multikill you try to keep at least two I'll not say three or four Cloud platforms it's practically highly impossible to somebody to work on parall on multiple Technologies okay I do understand but at least genuinely bare minimum you should have two Cloud Platforms in your CV Okay then if let's say if one of the project is getting over you're not getting a new project at least you can try for another project since you have a experience or you can try for an outside so in a way it will create a redundant life for you if you have a multikills hope I'm clear okay so I'm I'm not just saying for teaching purpose if you go and look for any sort of a job role as I said let's say I'm trying for a cloud architect role and more of a outside so USD Global let's see what they seeing s infra why they need as Cloud architect I don't see any clear job R so maybe this is not an architect all SCCM expert that they are looking for okay so you don't see the patching cycle group creation all these things who will manage all these things architect AR never look into all these things okay this is in my view okay so because I understand because some of these posts will be done by your uh third party contractors okay so they're not directly from the organization some of your third party contractors used to post these in outside major leave okay so that is the reason you will not see real justification for the roles and the role for the roles and responsibilities and the role that they are offering sometimes it will not be in sync so but if you look at here yeah so for cloud architect for one of this role you you need to have uh AWS Services knowledge and CSD so when I say AWS see AWS and devops okay the principle Cloud architect let's see what they are expecting I it's the Oracle maybe they're expecting Oracle cloud cloud exper so there is in-house job role let's go into Cloud architect on 3M at AWS I sure see both okay so if you filter out maybe let's see Junior architect what they're expecting this is more of AWS public Cloud AWS and programming okay and cacd devops terraform working knowledge is desired right so if you look at what I'm portraiting here administrator and the dev you you you try to find any sort of a job role here IR respect to what kind of job role it is the CD and the technology or Cloud technology is associated so without that you will not be able to survive for an year in any job role okay if you are surviving maybe with the internal links only but genuinely if you're looking for uh technical role without a multikill it's hard to survive okay so it's more of a aure course so with the Microsoft obviously you don't need to look for they'll always look for aure experts so uh is there anything no so we'll check one more thing and then we'll wrap it up let's see yeah this architect in the University what what is requirement so in general five years experience in architecting engineering implementing supporting Enterprise Wide Technology Services as sure they're looking for and let's see PMW they're looking and Azure they are looking Azure devops they are looking see Azure devops aure infrastructure Automation and also traditional on premise VMware and other stuff is there anything else here you can see traditional backup tools so here if you if you segregate these into multi job roles in in India you will see five five six different teams okay how I can say networking you'll have a separate team act active directory ad team you have a separate team okay networking as I said you have a separate team VMware you have a separate team three backup and recovery and other stuff t storage manager Azure backup and other stuff you have a separate Team Four databases you have a separate team and then devops you have a separate team so six seven teams I can see here okay and apart from that you have you have this application support okay so they're expecting one who has the experience in all these areas this is ideal architect profile in my view okay if you are portra yourself an architect you you should have a end to endend experience in understanding and delivering Solutions in all these areas so now think twice before you are you are updating your CV into an architect role Okay so I'm going to save this at least for my understanding and experience so let's say these are the requirements give me a second okay so you'll see it's a it's a vast okay it's a vast requirement all right so yeah so as I said even even for you to plan a longer term career perspective it is not just an Azure okay in respect to whether you're going to stay with Azure or not but yeah you should have multikills for sure 99.9% cases okay and moving on to the course I think everybody have seen but I'll not spend much time so let's quickly check the course content what we are planning for so I'll go to Azure okay so we'll start with the very basic Azure fundamentals what what is azure and how the things will work in Azure how you can set up an account for yourself in an aure all those stuff now once that is done the fun mental part then we will move on to the networking side that is a first building block okay so majority of the people even even somebody who's trying to learn by themsel the major challenge is they try to identify something and they try to start learning something but at certain time what what is the challenge is [Music] they they they will not be able to this way yeah they not be able to identify the dots okay from where we should start where we should go and how we going to uh how we going to move forward in terms of learning this because you randomly you randomly learn any number of topics when it comes to connecting all those dots that is where the difficulty that I see people in majority of the cases so so just to just to keep in line with your traditional way of working if you are if you are uh let's say building an infrastructure in your traditional data center first you need a working you need a racks you need a servers and then you interconnect them and then once the infrastructure is up you go and install the VMware you install the VMS and then you deliver to the customer so same way let's start with the networking first and then network security which is an Associated topic with the networking Advanced network security which is again associated with the network so first three topics is going to be purely a networking side that doesn't mean we only talk about Network here we we will try to incorporate what we'll try to incorporate some of topics we'll try to incorporate testing with the automation CLI and this and that okay we will try to mix match now once that is done we talk about virtual machines so okay so how to deploy a VM everybody knows next next next finish now that is not the case let's say when you're working for a customer they ask you to create something you need to recommend something you need to come up with an uh with the appropriate sizing we need to come up with the appropriate solution designing right so from a Sol solution perspective or from a troubleshooting perspective how these virtual machines can be handled that is something we're going to focus here in this training okay then moving on to high availability and uh your uh Advanced uh networking I would say so when I say high availability in your traditional way if you're creating a SQL server with the high Avail what you will do you will purchase two physical servers you will you will install the failover cluster on top of a Windows and then on top of a CL clust you're going to install you're going to deploy the SQL server and one is primary one is secondary that is how you will plan for the high availability now disaster when disaster hits both the servers will down so you don't have any choice in the on premise but when it comes to Cloud how you can deliver similar sort of solutions using these components that we try to test okay that is one of the high highly available or high availability component provider is load balancer okay and then DNS and the standard load balancer then we're going to talk about application Gateway we're going to talk about front door all these services are majorly High availability provided your load balancer uh and application Gateway front door your traffic manager profile which was not updated here okay all these things are part of the high availability and solution designing so we will try to test that and CDN is your content delivery okay for faster responses for your websites how that can be imped that we will see and automatic scaling so when the load is increased I want to see the servers are growing when the load is decreased I want to see servers are deleted automatically with the skill sets so how I can do that that we will test then we'll move on to storage we'll spend sometime understanding the storage and then once the network server storage these are the core key elements in your infrastructure right once that is done we're going to talk about protecting the data protecting a business data taking a backups and restores and conducting a business continuity business continu operations like a Dr Solutions how you going to replicate the data from one data center to another data center using VMware replication manager right so similarly here you will have certain tools where you can Define the uh Dr strategy and do a fail over and fail back all those things using Azure services that we will focus so with that we will put an end for infrastructure so meaning your traditional administrator versus Azure administrator will is going to end here so now whatever the other topics that we're going to discuss is our Modern Way of working so we'll talk about pass applications you are infrastructure you don't have any experience in managing the databases however if you are working in Azure you are responsible to deploy the services like databases applications and basic troubleshooting related to those path services that is something you will take care of it so you Azure as an Azure administrator you're responsible to manage these databases from infrastructure standpoint and applications pass applications and your function logic apps okay so maybe these in-depth understanding I may not be able to give you on the function and logic app because that requires a developer experience since we don't have a developer knowledge so I will try to show you how these things will work but yeah from a end to end solution perspective we may not be able to deliver to to a certain extent so but yeah I will try to give an overv you on High level and how this works if if you're troubleshooting from INF first standpoint you will be able to troubleshoot okay now then once the past data bases and applications are over we'll talk about security so when it comes to security as your active directory there is no component called active directory from last 6 months I need to update this it is entra ID okay so now if you go to Azure and look for it this is azure active directory until until early this year they renamed as enter ID so that is something I need to change it okay so but yeah the internal services are same The Heading is changed inside the services that remain same and then implementing Azure based management and automation means how we will automate the stuff in Azure using runbooks workbooks and your uh design State configurations and all that stuff so that is something we're going to test then after that we'll talk about microservices world then again entirely a different approach so we'll talk about Docker containers how you will deploy the docker how you will create images and those images how we will publish into a kubernetes engine how we will deploy the kubernetes and from infrastructure standpoint how we will manage the deployments and all those things we will try to cover off okay once that is done we will yeah once that is done we will talk about day-to-day operations trouble shooting monitoring reporting alerting all the stuff from a L1 monitoring perspective so once that is done let's pause here this is going to be a last topic we'll come to an automation when I say automation we will see how you can deploy the Azure resources using CLI okay Azure C or maybe some Parell or maybe some terraform or maybe some AR templates how you can do the deployments without touching the Azure portal that is something we will try to focus in between so this this topic is going to be randomly inserted somewhere during these classes testing we will not spend separate time on this because it's part of our day-to-day so we try to incorporate while testing something we will try to incorporate okay today we'll use CLI tomorrow we'll use let's say poral and so on okay now once that is done we'll have some dedicated discussion around Azure devops okay so whatever the Azure infrastructure that we are discussing about how you going to incorporate or in inbuild those methodologies into Azure devops and the basic fundamentals how you will deploy and manage or operate the things okay when it comes to azure devop pipelines and cacd operations and stuff okay so your repositories your build pipelines release pipelines your artifacts and how you will connect that with the Azure and how you will streamline the automations and stuff that we will try to focus and once that is done we'll come back to Azure and see how you can put the security governance and stuff okay that is in how you will put that in place in aure that is something we're going to talk about and then finally we'll come back to the topic like building oh sorry migration project so how you will migrate from on premise to Azure so on premise to aure on premise VMware to aure and how you will uh look at the costing from a admin perspective monthly cost analysis is not your job role okay there will be if it is a bigger organization there will be a dedicated team like finops their their day-to-day operation is looking at the cost and if the last month to this month if there is a huge increase or a huge H decrease they need to justify to the business saying okay this month we have decommissioned so on so services that is the reason we are able to save $2,000 or this month we have a new project and we deployed a new services that is the reason there's a 3,000 spike in the building so that is something your finops will team will take care of if it is a small organization you are the one who need to take a look and then propose the changes or propose the suggestions for your customer so these are the topics that we are going to cover off overall in the span of let's say 40 to 45 days and it is going to be as I mentioned 1 hour 15 minute session okay starting from today consider today tomorrow and Saturday will be a demo sessions and from Monday onwards we'll have a regular sessions at the same time hope I it makes sense okay so now course content you can take a look okay so you have a Blog right so you can you can take a look and anything that you feel like okay this is something I missed from uh from your day-to-day operations perspective if you're already working I I will try to explain you out of the box but yeah will not include anything outside of this course content let's say some somebody come up with the requirement hey I I'm currently working as an Azure administrator but my major job is avd okay so ABD is aure virtual desktop solution fair enough but if you ask me to teach ABD we will not be able to teach you reason being theoretically we can talk about 100 things but when it comes to practical implementation there is a limitation ABD as a solution requires two to two and a half days for somebody to deploy and manage it okay even though you automate a script and then do it it will take at least 5 to 6 hours now if you're expecting somebody to teach you a in 1 and a half hour session that is practically impossible so that is the reason few topics we will not be able to cover off practically but yeah if you are already working in the in that area and you want some insights connect with me I'll try to help you okay so now moving on to let me log in right so I haven't updated the profile yet but yeah it's uh currently started with IBM and spend some time with the halberton which is an oil field services company then I spent almost like five years with capita it's UK based organization where as traditional system administrator then an architect then later pursued uh de off's lead in horizontal now I left this almost like an year year ago so I'm currently associated with The Entity it's not updated but yeah I'm still working but I was associated with The Entity data so that's known okay but yeah overall 15 years of experience into it and roughly 10 years from a traditional infrastructure and 5 years into Azure and ws and devops automation other stuff so that is my current profile and I think um in the VM in the YouTube also you might have seen uh some videos uploaded by me okay related to VMware and other stuff you will see a lot of videos in the VMware so these videos I uploaded back in 2019 recorded in 2019 and upload in 2020 I think yeah so that is the last last infrastructure job what I did when I talk about pure infrastructure that is the end when when I stopped teaching so 2019 or 2018 itself I stopped uh working on VMware storage and other stuff and 2019 onwards I've moved into Cloud area so now you will find some demo videos we will find some full uh course content related to traditional infrastructure management if you are still working in that area so you can prer them if it is really helpful okay so that's on my set so so let's move on to I think we will not be able to cover off this so let's park it aside so let's try to understand Cloud deployment models irrespective whether it is an Azure or AWS or gcp their Cloud deployment or cloud service models are same okay now when I when I say cloud deployment model or cloud service models I'm talking about infrastructure as a service platform as a service and software as a service and some organization will offer Dr as a service okay and so on but yeah majorly there are only three way of cloud service offering these three okay now if I quickly talk about the traditional on premise and then we'll move on to Cloud okay if you're working in on premise you're working in an infrastructure area right so you have some Hardware on top of that what you will do boss you will install hypervisor okay when I say hypervisor it can be esxi it can be Microsoft hyperv it can be anything it can be let's say neutronics a HP and so on right so now on top of that what you're going to do you're going to spin up a VMS okay how to create a VM everybody knows we're going to spin up few VMS and let's say vm1 vm2 R3 and so on so I'm taking the hypothetical example on one of the VM you're going to have a database okay and one of the VM you're going to have backend application backend application and one of the VM you're going to say frontend application front end application might be our web server backend application will be your processing server and in the backend database now on top of that you will ask your dbas to create a or maybe your DB developers to create a schemas okay so DB engine or instance okay and then on top of that you'll have a database now on top of backend application you'll have a your code that you want to execute and on top of a front end also you'll have a code that you want to execute so now from a end user perspective if someone is trying to access something they will come and access the application okay and application will talk to the backend application backend application will talk to the database I'm giving a hypothetical three Tire application now if I talk about a job roles that you are looking at so let's say here I need a DC Engineers DC engineering team who sit in the data center provided 24 by7 support okay give me one second guys now when it comes to hypervisor you have a virtualization experts like a VMware newonics hyperv who knows in right so all these things you will see people working on these roles when it comes to here system admin in general can be windows or Linux or VMware plus windows and so on combinations okay then when it comes to databases and application appdb support staff okay support team who manages the infrastructure sorry you manage the database and application from the support standpoint and then on top of that you'll have a developers who Ed to develop the code and publish as on when they need okay and any enhancements now these are the technical roles I'm talking about apart from that you have some non-technical roles like a service delivery manager Incident Management change management okay and so on let me put this way change and then your leads again your management then you have your pmo project management all the stuff will be there that's a more of a non-technical side I'm talking about now this is this is what it looks like if you are talk about traditional on premise way of working okay or traditional on premise way of working this is how it is now if I want to incorporate this into your Cloud way of working okay so if I want to incorporate Cloud way of working or cloud service model so I would say infrastructure as a service infrastructure as a service okay now when it comes to irrespec whether Azure or AWS doesn't matter if it is infrastructure service Cloud deployment model that they are offering so they'll say boss this Hardware we will take care of it this Administration we will take care of it okay so this you will take care but you need rename your as say cloud admin plus Windows okay you earlier you used to say I'm you you have a Windows Experience but you are good at managing the VMware and other stuff right so here now this will become Cloud plus your o so these two have become gr area so this vendor used to or I would say cloud vendor in our in our case Azure used to manage this Mak sense whatever the stuff that we marked in uh red is delivered by or taken care by your Azure so as a as a Azure administrator what is your role managing this area Okay so managing this area means how to create a VM there interconnection network connectivity and their day-to-day operation troubleshooting and then protecting the data and all the stuff related to that your your job role okay so what are the services that fun comes under IAS Azure networking Azure VMS aure H Solutions and so on for call under wherever you see the network is incorporated right that I will consider as a infrastructure element wherever you see network itself is not required okay can you give me example Azure app service okay it doesn't really require any network so without a network without a server how an application will work it will work that is how the next service model is okay so if I talk about another way of Service delivery or Cloud deployment method is platform as a service model okay when I say platform as a service boss I'm taking this job rule okay and I'm I'm saying these three boxes give me a second yeah so these three boxes also I'm I'm taking out from your I'm taking out from your scope meaning all these three areas all these three layers will be taken care by your Cloud vendor okay then what is your job role you will also work along with the cloud ad Plus app plus DBA support okay this has become like this how come so I want to deploy an application yeah deploy an application who stopped you but I don't have a server okay then how so I want to run a website I don't have a server then how Azure app Services is one of the pass application will help you to deliver websites so Azure function app or Azure SQL database all these are pass Services okay so when I say pass you don't need to bother about what is there in the back end which Hardware least bothered what kind of virtualization platform least bothered what kind of VM windows or Linux least bothered we are really not bothered about all those things then what is what is needed okay now tell me what database that you need SQL okay so what what is the capacity 2 CPU and 200 GB 200 GB storage okay so take it and pay me $100 per month that's it so you are a developer and you are trying to integrate your product with the backend database and you don't have any server to buy and install the database engine and then create a database and then connect to the database and test it's a tedious job I'm not going to go onto that path it's a more of a startup we want to go in a simple way so if that is the case you go and create a SQL database in Azure which will offer you $5 per month cheap cheap cheapest database okay $5 per month and you do entire testing for a whole month and then you you develop your frontend product once uh once the product is ready while moving on to the production you increase the size until then you can manage within that $5 for the database I'm talking about okay so being a developer you don't need to worry about what kind of database that I should adopt so in Cloud it's all flexible databases are readily made available for developer to use and test and operate so you can simply create with minimalistic understanding and you can simply integrate by using your traditional way of integration so let's say I want to integrate with the application so how to integrate with an application the database if it is a open uh open source application obbc driver if it is a Java base jdbc driver if it is in uh different different application okay react and other stuff you have a plugins to the particular application to integrate so in in know overall what I'm trying to portrate here you don't need to worry about what is the operating system what is the CPU memory that is utilizing how much storage capacity that you have who will manage the monthly patching of the machine what about the logs that are generated in the server who will manage the database growth who will manage the indexing and reindexing of the databases so all the things that you will keep away from your mind because Azure will take care of it in the in the back end so you don't need to worry about the rebooting a production server and taking an approval and schedule the uh schedule the change and then reboot the server one by one so nothing to worry it is a fast database it doesn't really require any reboots in a month make sense so when it comes to pass Azure will take care of majority of the work for you you need to just focus on your product development okay then what about the other service model the other service model is SAS okay which is software as a service so let me delete this yeah so other service model is software as a service model so if that is a case this is gone this is also gone so let this starts this is also gone okay but if everything is gone then if everything is taken care by are sure then what you are going to do what you going to do very simple so we are Le least bothered about how it is being deployed managed and operated was we are more interested about the end outcome end product is something we are interested about Okay small example any example okay so I want to monitor my virtual machine I want to monitor my my physical server I want to monitor my VMware server I want to monitor my database so what you will do in your traditional way so in your traditional way you will go with the T monitoring okay IBM used to sell costly products back in 2008 and N right T monitoring or BMC BMC monitoring I don't know the company name I think BMC itself is a company right I forgot the name or and so on let's say no boss we don't want to spend the cost naos or solar winds from a network standpoint and so on you need to buy a product and build a separate server install the product and deploy the agents on all the targets where you want to Monitor and then uh and then set up a network monitoring team or a server monitoring team and put a big screens and stuff and ask them to provide a 24 by7 support and do the monitoring that is how the infrastructure monitoring or a knock level monitoring works right so that I want to completely shut down so if that is the case I'm I'm going to use a completely passess product called Azure log analytics workspace okay is a tool comes with amama agent August from August 3 first am agent is the one is going to be live the Legacy monitoring agent is end of life if you anybody has a prior experience okay now comination okay then all these things will fall off Azure monitor solution now what you are requesting was I'm I'm requesting a monitoring solution okay take this how it is deployed how it is functioning okay and how to get the updates for related to the agents you least bothered about all those things forget about all of these things you just take it and use it and pay for me per GB if you are storing a 10tb data and per TB $1 okay so 10 TB into $1 you you calculate it and pay me in a month that's it how this is functioning who is managing it in the background how this is going to be upgraded all those things you forget about it okay SAS product take it use it that's it make sense if any other example as your enter ID active directory itself if you want to build a high highly available active directory what you will do you will create a two servers and you create one active directory and you create another ad server and you configure the ad on one server or on the second server you join the second server as additional domain controller and you enable the sync and you share the roles between both of them and then that is highly available now was I don't want any single server I want to manage the users on my own so if that is the case are you going to create a users manually okay temporarily I can create a users manually but are you going to uh operate it operate it in a uh in a cloud model or on premise model if you want to operate in on premise model you integrate your on premise ID with the Azure ID no I don't have any on premise it's more of a startup I I'm good to manage within the Azure itself then use like an enter ID as a as a uh role based access provider users groups and permissions and stuff without creating a ad server you can onbo the users with the available SAS product called Azure enter ID okay any other third party yes you have a lot of third party products one of the example is I'll take another four minutes and I'll take a pause here okay another one of the example is send grid let's say you have a you have a ntp server in your sorry not the ntp SMTP server in your traditional mailboxes right so uh in your nazus monitoring your monitoring is enabled on the physical server but there's a hardware failure detected and uh the alert configured or naos want to send email notification to whom it will send a email notification whatever the distribution list or mailbox that you provided for email notification so in order to send that what you need to do you need to configure the SMTP server inside and you need to configure the subject line and other stuff all the stuff right so or maybe you're working on a product development you created a website and the website uh is having some input forms okay somewhere in the page you have input form when whenever somebody fills the input form and submit you should get an email so how you will get an email so in the back end on the server whenever the SMTP is uh configured it will automatically pick those input values and send it to email box what is configured okay so that is how you're going to configure the mail exchanges or SMTP relays on the individual applications or servers in a traditional way now when it comes to Cloud we don't want to use any sort of on premise SMTP servers we want to use modern applications or modern smtps like a send grid it offers two things one it will offer free SMS and free emails okay in a package okay how let me show you so it is a third party Marketplace product willo send grd let me see if it comes up or not yeah will send gr what it will do it will ask you to take a free subscription okay use it for free but daily 100 emails it will send forever daily 100 emails now boss on my website every day th000 transactions will happen means when th000 transaction happened th000 emails I need to send to th000 people or th000 transactions now if that is a case this is not enough now you take a change of plan okay and you take 50,000 emails 100K emails okay and 300K emails two two million emails okay so how many emails that you want to send from your application in a month you take a package and the cost will be calculated accordingly that's it so it will give you one key one one uh private key and you just incorporate that in your code in your website code you just incorporate that in a SMTP notifications so that your application will call SMTP SMTP will send the traps to this particular send grid send grid is going to send the emails to individuals and you can check whether the email is delivered or user opened the email or not user is bounced user email is bounced or not or user email is blocked somewhere it will give you all the insights now your life is easy you know need to maintain the SMTP server you just purchase it and use it s product third party s product who is developing it willo okay then what is the infrastructure that is being used what what what matters to you okay whether it is running on a server it is running on a pass environment it is managed by too in the back end so you we least bothered about those things okay so this is also one of the example for your s product offered in the cloud okay in as a s product but third party s product hope this makes sense so we are going to use some of these services to deploy and test within the Azure going forward in next uh month and a half or two months okay so uh I still have five minutes I'll take a pause here okay and we're going to continue tomorrow is tomorrow we'll talk about the entreprise versus Cloud way of working and the on very basic Network topics that we were going to talk about tomorrow so yeah anybody has any questions I can help you in clarifying s uh yeah just I want to confirm why aure and devops and why not AWS devops or why not AWS plus aure devops exactly that's is what I said so if you maybe if you miss the initial sessions it is not just Azure boss you need to put your your CV like Azure and AWS that is what I explained in the beginning right but we will not cover AWS right okay so if you are okay to pay 30,000 you join in the next batch I'm going to teach AWS separately okay okay okay so think from my perspective how I will get the costing if I want to teach everything in a single course with 15,000 do you think it is feasible clear yeah yeah this is I have a few questions on this Azure and devops so I come from a Windows background I'm currently working as a Windows administrator so on the certification part you said uh not to waste your time on the fundamentals as as a system admin on I'm working on Windows and VM what is the best certification that I need to focus on uh from a a standpoint because my current client is also using aure and they are going from onm to aun Cloud so I think this is a right right time for me to learn a but I'm confused on the certification part exactly so when you are saying you already working as a Windows and VM admin you look at my job profile I started as a TSM backup nowhere matching with my current role yep okay so the thing is when I say Azure fundamentals or certification is not required that doesn't mean I never stop you to learn Azure fundamentals you try to learn Azure fundamentals but don't go for certification it doesn't really require for you to go for a certification on a fundamentals because nobody is going to offer you a job called Azure fundamentals okay so the very first job that you will get is either admin or either devops or either database engineer or either your AI or data engineering or AML expert okay so these are the job roles that are offered by organization so they are not going to look at your fundamental certificate don't go for it okay skip it now the very first certification you need to enroll is 104 that is what I mentioned on the top this is the certification code that you need to look for and if you are devops expert or you are enthusiastic in the devops this is the certification code that you need to look for so these are the two certifications that you can plan for in next four months okay and the next question is during this training um do we also get the Practical um practicals how going to show you the 70% Hands-On when I say 70% Hands-On so nobody will be able to teach you uh the what I'll say express route connectivity or some of the other limitations are there as I said ABD and stuff right so that those things are practically impossible to teach in the training okay there are limitations so rest all will do Hands-On meaning I'm going to show you the scenario I'm going to test it I'm going to record it I'm going to give it to you that doesn't mean you are sitting along with me on the class and you're going to test in the background if you want to practice you practice I'm not stopping you but I'm not going to entertain the parallel practicing okay okay got and the last question uh from the slide that you are showing I understand uh uh infrastructure as service and platformal service but can you give me an a live example of the client or vendor or someone in your experience who are using SAS because SAS is totally you you depend on the cloud provider right you don't have to do anything like including managing monitoring everything so s whatever the services that I mentioned in the SAS these are the services that are available in the Azure okay now if you're talking about other SAS product you have a Salesforce service not ticketing tool itself is a complete SAS product okay and your Office 365 itself is a complete SAS product make sense okay okay yeah any other questions anybody s yeah regarding to the Oracle deployment on Azure are we Legacy applications currently on Oracle right okay yeah I do understand Stander recently or they have a TI up with Oracle and they are offering Oracle services to be available on aure platform so that is not part of a traditional admin job role let's say you have on premise Oracle database okay and your majority of the application is on the cloud now since you don't have the compatibility of the Oracle database on the Azure Cloud you are not migrating those databases to aure so just to help those customers they tie up with the Oracle and they have Oracle on Azure cloud service okay you need to take a separate subscription subscription okay and in that you are going to move your Oracle databases and you will you are going to connect that with the existing applications on the existing a solution so that's a different story altoe not sure to be honest I never implemented that but yeah I I am to to do do a p uh and our POC will also start maybe it's slow process on our side it is going to start in November that is what I'm expecting okay okay but yeah it's new something this year they have a tie up and this year they're going to uh execute that project at least basic 10 minutes will be fine I can I can give you let's see theoretically we can discuss a number of things man but something practically it possible yeah I can give you an all yeah and regarding to the eeks we are just creating the dock containers and deploying the e not e is a a cluster on the AED and how about the AKs networking that is important yeah P networking so I'm going to I'm going to teach on a administrator perspective what sort of a day-to-day operations that you will perform deploying or managing and operating a cluster from a from a uh admin perspective within the AK scope now advanc security of the uh of the Pod okay and then your advanc security of your AKs cluster is something I'm not going to cover off in this training program because the costing perspective okay it will not help me to achieve because alone kubernetes will take at least 30 hours to cover off you that is itself is a ocean let's say you are a Windows admin and in your traditional way you're working on a VMware if somebody asks TC VMware was Windows is just a windows VMware is a completely a different environment the same cloud is cloud within the cloud kubernetes is a completely different isolated world so if you want to spend Deep dive or if you want to spend more time in kubernetes yeah I have a separate training program for kubernetes in that we will cover up but in this training we will not be able to cover up as I said it is going to take 30 hours so our whole program is 45 hours or 50 hours of training program for Azure now if you want to dedicate a 30 hours to the kuar IND then we're not going to touch the any other service with in theer so that's the reason good and from the architect point of view we will be covering the designing the solution that is yeah earlier I used to mention boss I'm I'm kind of including architect part of this training but I try to skip off because the architect as I said architect role is something you need to have your own ideology in developing a solution one cannot teach you an architect role yeah yeah experience by experience you get it by experience by delivering a projects you will be able to gain that knowledge but yeah when we are testing something in Azure anywhere we are going to put a high level design diagram anywhere we're going to have the connectivity between this and between that that we are going to discuss that is eventually your architect only but the way you look at the solution that that turns into whether you are looking for an architect role are looking for admin role even though you have explain everything at the end you'll say okay what is this VM someone will somebody will ask right so that means they don't have any visibility of the architecture they just focused on managing the VM that's it okay so it is based on the individual's perspective whether they are going to grasp it yeah if you are able to grasp it you'll be able to 100% grasp it from the hands on what we are going to do so as I said the scenarios is in such a way that you you can plan for an architect as well but yeah provided you have a adequate experience yeah actually I have already gone through your architect uh trainings that's the reason I'm asking it will also part yeah yeah yeah okay it will also go in this session as well yes we we go in a similar path but only thing is now if you are trying for an architect role as I said you need to work on AWS as well you need to work on on premise as well so alone architect role with the Azure doesn't make any sense that is the reason I just skipped off here got it it and regarding the migration you will just doing the uh migration services from migrating 1 VM to yeah only yeah practically only we can do only one VM okay but the six hours will not be cover like factoring modernization modernization and all highly impossible man in the lab we can't do it no no no no not lab the Strat is yeah we can give you but practical anything that somebody asked me I'll think from a practical perspective okay so practically not feasible yeah thanks yeah okay yeah thanks any other questions anybody yeah I can I can take another 4 minutes nice questions I just want to give feedback guys uh I have already taken the training two times from SAS uh because of the my job schedule I couldn't attend so many lectures please try to attend all the lectures and try to do the labs it's very extremely useful and no trainer will give this kind of the lab sessions practically man others will think like a promotion don't go for it okay I I can give him the means one of the basic recording so that they can I also part of the training and just give me it is not promotion guys you can find me in LinkedIn it's fine me okay yeah all right guys so let's take a pause here maybe tomorrow you will see uh class will be on a small screen I'm not sure okay because I'll be traveling now and uh it'll be on the office laptop tomorrow for anyway this a theoretical session so I try to drive it on the same laptop and tomorrow on Saturday we'll have a two sessions and then we'll wrap it up the demo session so from Monday onwards we're going to have full FL hands on so that's the plan now as I said it is going to be 1 hour 15 minutes sometimes it will go up to 2 hours so so be prepared for that so because some sessions we can't segre or we can't divide into small sessions and then run in a days okay the testing should go on at least until we complete that scenario so some sessions very few sessions we'll go one and a half or 2 hours that I will try to schedule on the weekends okay so that's pretty much from my side guys so let me stop here and let me stop recording and
