Blackboard Login & MFA Guide

Overview

This lecture covers the process for signing into the GVSU Blackboard LMS, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup, troubleshooting tips, and privacy information.

Signing In to Blackboard

  • Use your GVSU Network ID and password to sign into the LMS.
  • Non-GVSU users can use alternative login options if provided.
  • Third-party sign-in options include geniussso - saml and Okta accounts.

Multi-Factor Authentication Setup

  • MFA is required for all faculty, staff, and students.
  • Download an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy on your phone.
  • Open the app and scan the provided QR code or manually copy the key.
  • Enter the 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app to associate it with your account.
  • MFA will prompt for a code during every login or when using an unfamiliar device.

Troubleshooting and Support

  • If you have trouble signing in, use the Self-Service Password Reset tool.
  • For further help, contact the IT Service Desk at (616)331-2101 during normal hours.
  • Additional MFA training and help is available via the GVSU Service Portal.
