in this video we are going to be going over the uses of ser and how to use it to describe people if you guys remember back Sarah is one of our two verbs that mean to be because remember we have ser and we have a star today we're focused on Sarah here are the conjugations for Ser remember there's always five forms uh and before I forget let me just cross those out because we do not use bosotros okay so for the five forms of ser yo soy I am s nosotrosomos son I'm sure you got those five down in your notes you're gonna need these LS as son if you're talking to a group of people you also say son usted son I don't know why I always mess this up um the uses of ser we have five so the main use of ser is to identify essential characteristics of people and things and these are characteristics that don't change very often they tend to stay the same over time so Guillermo del Toro famous director s intelligente creativo intelligent and creative those are temporary things those are things that tend to stay the same over time because they stay the same over time we use it with ser uh sus peliculas his movies pelicula movie right they're interesting they're not interesting right now but they're going to be boring later they're just interesting it's a permanent characteristic so we use sun and recentes uh we also use Ser to indicate profession or vocation your job doesn't change that often and so because it's kind of permanent we consider it kind of permanent we use it with ser ious he's a director right he's not going to be a waiter tomorrow why and even if he was then we would consider his permanent job to be a waiter so it's always going to be fair no matter what musico dueres doctora we also use Sarah to express nationality nationality is another one of these things that tends to stay the same over time uh Guillermo del Toro es Mexicano okay if we just want to say he's from Mexico we do what we did in the first week essay Mexico talking about time we always use Ser and you can get a really good view from either Mexico City or Puebla so this is plural because we're talking about two people son they Austria El Dia de los Muertos right Elvia is singular so we're talking about it s un Dia festivals right who is the Mexican president Kian s El presente Mexico just cross this entire question now we do not use bosotros we always use ustedes son estudiantes en la Universidad National autonoma de Mexico one of the largest universities in the world hundreds of thousands of people attend that University El socalo s La Plaza De Mexico it's enormous when you go to the sokolo it's in like the very center of Mexico City uh and it's got the giant Cathedral on one side it's got an archaeological temple being excavated in one of the corners it's got the National Palace not really used the National Palace in Mexico the last president kind of preferred living in a place called Los Pinos which is a little bit further away from the center of Mexico City mainly because it's a hassle for the president to travel in the very center of Mexico City it's kind of expensive um but yeah and they have the giant flag there's it's enormous it's the largest Flag by law in all of Mexico um in the center of the socalo there Las Playas de Mexico so this is plural right Las Playas son OS son Moyer mosas okay you should probably take a screenshot take a picture of this vocab you are expected to memorize all these adjectives um kinda Excel mismo I don't know what they're going for there um I know mismo means same but it doesn't mean same the way that they're trying to present it uh but Moreno brunette Rubio one that I would add is Guero and that's just somebody who's white Guero really super common word in Mexico for blonde head and Pele Rojo for redhead see all patica she looks like she's nice okay in your notes so I'm not gonna go through these but I want you to make sure in your notes write a description label them one two three and four but write a quick description of each of these people pause the video so you can do that foreign enough time to pause the video and write these in your notes after you're done with these four I want you to do four more just pause the video write a quick description of each of these people foreign so that's how we use Ser it's really important to study those adjectives during the oral interview at the midterm we will be I will be asking you a lot of questions about different people in your life so you should have enough of these adjectives to be able to describe different people what they're like what they look
