Complex Substituents

• Complex substituent क्या होता है?
  • जब substituent में branching होती है
  • Example: CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH(CH3)-CH3

Naming Rules for Complex Substituents

1. Assign the first number to the carbon which is directly attached to the main chain.
2. Follow IUPAC rules for naming substituents.
3. Complex substituents की naming brackets में करें।

Example

• Longest carbon chain: CH3-CH2-CH(CH3)-CH2-CH3
• Substituent on 4th carbon:
  • Naming: 4-(1-Methyl)
  • IUPAC: 1-Methylpropyl

Cycloalkanes

• Cycloalkanes में single bonds होते हैं।
• Example: Cyclopropane, Cyclobutane, Cyclopentane

  • सबसे पहले substituent का नाम, फिर cyclo, फिर root word, फिर functional group का नाम।

• Structure like CH2-CH2-CH2
• Name: 1-Methylcyclopropane

• Cyclic और straight chain में numbering कैसे करें?
  • RING को preference दें यदि वह chain के बराबर या ज्यादा carbon वाली हो।
