Welcome everyone. Today I have the privilege of hosting Corey Russell, a renowned author and speaker with a burning passion for prayer and the presence of God. In our conversation, we're going to dive in into a powerful testimony of his salvation, significance of praying in tongues and actually incredible ways that Holy Spirit transforms us every single day. I personally have been challenged uh by Corey and his sermons as well as his books. In fact, one of my books that really reignited even my time to spend time with the Lord is teach us to pray. And I've used some of his points when he talked about the morning prayer. How you know your prayer life gets formed in the morning prayer. How early morning prayer saves you from stupid decisions after 10 p.m. How prayer uh increases the spirit of revelation in your life. How recalibrates you to his love and how it's a sacrifice. And I've used those points every time that I've taught. And I used to give all the credit to Corey, but I've used it so many times that I just stopped saying it's just what the Lord revealed to me. So, um, and recently, uh, he has a lot of new books that are that are out there, but the book on the glory within that deals with the the mystery and the the the grace that is on praying in tonesues. And in fact, one of the things that Corey shared that we're going to dive into is how after about 20 minutes of extended praying in tonesues, things just break in your spirit. And I actually have been practicing that uh since I've heard that. So I've been really personally challenged and blessed and I've had a chance to meet him and had him minister in our church. He carries a special grace and anointing on his life. And so Corey, welcome. It's an honor to be with you, Vlad. I love it. I love it. I love it. Could we start from the beginning? How did you come to know the Lord? What what is what was the key points that actually led you to Jesus? You have a really crazy testimony even of deliverance. How'd that happen? Yeah, I um I'm originally from Arkansas and uh born and raised great family. Uh we would go to church, but it was never personal and just kind of went through the motions, athletics and all that kind of stuff. And um as I got into my later years and I began to once I got out of high school, I stopped playing sports and just really began to party, go in deep into that and going about as deep into the drugs and the party lifestyle and world as you can go. And um I had moved back uh to my hometown area after my first year in college and was doing even harder drugs. And my best friend's mom was praying and my mom was praying for our souls and asking that God would deliver us, bring us back. Well, my friend went through a wild four-month season where, you know, his I found out later that his eyes were open to the spirit realm and that he was seeing angels and demons and seeing what we were being controlled by, but he wasn't talking. He was just weird and we didn't know what to do with him. And uh it culminated on February 1st, 1997. I had showed up at his house to hang out another day and he comes running out the front door screaming at me, "Corey, it's heaven or hell. Cory, it's heaven or hell. You have to make a decision." Well, I grab my friend and we leave. And I was very angry because it was known that his mom had led him through a three-day deliverance and uh broke the power of the evil one off of him and he got saved and I got angry. And so two weeks later he showed up to college. He took me to lunch and he shared with me for that for those four months the spirit realm was opened up and it culminated on the last night when we were together and the Lord spoke and said Satan is raising up an army but I'm raising up an army too and I'm calling you out tonight. Wow. And so he's telling me this over lunch. I had just gotten my second DWI. I was in bad shape and I just said, "Hey, dude. How about you just shut up and take me back to school? I don't want to hear anymore about this." And so he drove back to the college and right before I get out of the van in the uh parking lot, uh the spirit of God filled the van and I began to shake like I was having a seizure. I began to see a tugof-war battle between light and darkness over my soul. And all and and he pulled in the back of the parking lot, began to cast out spirits and pray over me. I'm choking trying to get at the name out Jesus, but all I can get out is G's. And then finally, I just screamed his name. I screamed the name Jesus. And right when I did, the hole broke off my throat. And it was like God came and breathed inside of me. And all I could say for the next five minutes is, "I've got air. I've got air. I've got air." And and then I heard the voice of God for the first time. And he said, "Get out of the van. Get on the pavement and give me your life. You're mine." And so this is February 18th, Tuesday 12:30, 1997. I jump out of a van into a college parking lot and I go, "Jesus, I give you my life. I'm yours." And everything changed from that moment. Instantly born again, instantly delivered of all the drugs, all the perversion, all the stuff. And uh just got absolutely just messed up by the Lord. And within a month had a drug ring of friends who had similar encounters. and we saw God invade a small community in Northwest Arkansas for our first six months of our salvation. It was amazing. That's incredible. the prayers of people and the power of people sharing when they get on fire for God, share with their friends and um in your beginning stages of your walk with Christ, who and what played a significant role in in that walk and how did those influences shape the passion and the message you carry today? I think I gravitated from my early days. We were in a move of God, but I began to gravitate to these older women intercessors and you know, there was a couple of 50 year olds. You know, at the time I was 20, so you know, they were really old. Now I'm 48. It's not not as old anymore. Uh a couple of 50 year olds and an 80-year-old. And these women knew God. And when they would pray, the atmosphere would change. And I began to gravitate to them, the early prayer meetings, the prayer meetings before services, uh early morning prayer meetings, late night prayer meetings. And so I would say for my first couple of years, I spent a majority of my time in prayer meetings just learning how to pray uh birth of things in the spirit uh praying in the spirit for many many hours and uh learning how to move with the spirit of intercession. I I would say I learned a lot in those first two years that really formed me in a lot of ways and you have very powerful teaching and practice and I think it flows from what you're carrying because you know we can teach what we what we know but the impartation comes from really that deep revelation and and that is on the importance of praying in tongues and and tonesues is a taboo topic for some uh weird for others and um and some people don't just have the revelation. I feel like you really carry a strong revelation. When and how did you begin to discover in your personal life the importance of praying in tonesues, especially your teaching on the extended time of praying in tonesues? Yeah, absolutely. It so I I I got married and then we had our first daughter and then we moved to to a ministry of uh day and night prayer. And in that first season, we had so much warfare. Um I don't know if there was some it was just the first 6 months so much warfare and we would get awakened in the middle of the night. Uh we would feel presences uh enter into our room. Uh my daughter was constantly sick and in that season out of frustration mostly I just said God I'm going to pray in tongues until peace comes. I don't know how to deal with this. I felt fear, anxiety, I felt uh, you know, constantly swirled with what's going on, what have we done wrong, what's what's happening, and all of the questions. And that out of sheer frustration, this is what I said to the Lord. I'm going to go into my living room and pace until the shift comes. And sometimes that would be 20 minutes. Some nights it would be two hours. And I would I I found that the Lord was teaching me how to break through anxiety, fear, uh uh you know, uh demonic uh uh you know, coming at us. And I think he was teaching me how to fight in that season and begin to get more aggressive and offensive in my prayer life versus being defensive and reactionary to whatever the enemy was seeking to do and seeking to come at us in any ways. And so that's where I would say it really became personal to me. And this was in the early 2000s. So like 0 01 uh 02 when I really began to forge that uh extended times and I began to discover the shift and the peace of God and we would see peace come on our family. Uh uh sickness would would go away. uh rest and sleep would come back on the family and uh I was discovering and seeing you the connection between the two in that in that first season. You mentioned in not only in your book but also constantly in your teaching that God offends the mind to reveal the heart. How does the speaking in tonesues challenge our intellect? And this is a problem for some people why they don't want to speak in tonesues because it requires humility. Yes. And why is humility so important in receiving that and receiving that gift and flowing in that gift? Yeah, it Proverbs 25 says, "It's the glory of God to conceal a matter and it's the glory of kings to search out a matter." God hides glory in in things in people in realities that requires humility to access. God is born into the world and he's not born in the palace in Jerusalem. He requires everyone to go out to Bethlehem to a manger if you're going to discover the glory of God in the flesh, Emmanuel. And God requires humility to access the mysteries of God. Because God will when he offends the mind, what he'll do is he'll wrap glory in ugly context and things that uh are just kind of that's below my intellect. That's below my my uh my lot in life. I'm not going to walk out to Bethlehem. I'm not going to humble myself to receive. And and what I found with God is that he will do that. So, I I used to, you know, this is a kind of a funny little thing, but when I was growing up, we had the skating ring. Uh we would have uh the skate the skating ring on roller skates, and at the end of the night, they would have the game called limbo. How low can you go? And I always feel like God says if you But see, this goes to both those who believe in tongues, I mean, those who don't believe in tongues, it's offending your mind. Okay? And and this is the point is because God's going to hide the realm of revelation, mysteries, the knowledge of God. It's not intellectual ascent. It's spiritual revelation. It's not the knowledge of the Greek philosophers and the the wisest and the smartest of this world. It's spiritual revelation that builds up instead of the knowledge of this world that puffs up. And so it it it offends the the ones that don't believe in tongues. But this is something else, Vlad, that I see is that even charismatics are those who quote unquote believe in the gift. They don't engage the gift on a practical way. They might have the tongues badge and they might believe in it theologically, but they don't believe it in practice. Which means this, it shows that they don't see it as the way to grow in the revelation of Jesus. They don't see it as the way to grow in spiritual power and in spiritual wisdom. Which means this that they're actually practical atheist in the gift of tongues. And this is what we need is a revival of accessing it in the practical living of our lives. M you know and I jumping on what you just said about revelation and uh in your book and you you've mentioned how Paul who had such a great revelation that God had to humble him. Yes. And yet when Paul talks about his personal devotional life he says I pray in tongues more than any of you. and and you make that connection that if you want to walk in revelation, not just in information, religion and and and you know, discipline and all of that, but actually revelation that it does have to in some way, shape, and form is connected to that humility which is expressed in tongues. Yeah, absolutely. I think 1 Corinthians 14:18 when Paul said to the Corinthians, I thank God I speak with tongues more than you all. I believe that's the greatest door into the Apostle Paul's devotional life. I believe it's the greatest door into his prayer life. I believe it is the secret of the realm of revelation that he lived in. I believe it's the secret of the Christlikkeness that he manifested of the power of perseverance and endur endurance that he walked in the power that he operated in the holiness the the I believe that right there is the doorway and and and this is what I've always said is is that Vlad the devil doesn't waste his time on things that don't hurt his kingdom and if the devil Devil has sought to divide the body of Christ more than anything. It's over the gift of tongues. I believe the devil knows the power that it possesses to transform our spiritual life into a whole another place. So true. When um in Corinthians it says that we we pray mysteries when we speak in tonesues. And you mentioned that when we're praying in tongues, we're really praying about, you know, four mysteries. Mysteries about God, mysteries about us, mysteries about his plans and those people in need. Um, do you have a testimony of how tongues led to a specific revelation in one of these areas? Absolutely. I I think we need to understand this. Everybody that's listening to this, regardless of whether you're in full-time ministry, you're a businessman, a stay-at-home mother, Jesus told the disciples, it's been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom. It's been given to you. So, it is your inheritance is to know the deep things of God. All right? You know, so that's that. I would say those mysteries are when you begin to pray in tongues in a focused way for extended periods of time, you're going to find three big areas that God's going to open up to you. I would say spiritual revelation about God, which means we're going to see for me when I start praying in tongues, the Bible opens. the Bible opens and and I come into new thoughts and new insight about God from the word. Number two, God will talk to me about me and you know those that workmanship and those good works and there will be mysteries about who I am to him, what he's planned for me. People people that are about this is a secret little thing I have with the Lord. But I know when someone's about to reach out to me. I have an insight that someone's about to reach out to me. Whether a phone call that day or I will begin to randomly think about somebody and within a day or a week I will hear from that person. Uh or he will bring up people that are in need to me. I would say knowledge uh uh God, myself and people that are in need. That happens on almost a weekly basis. um that happens all the time and it's usually I will randomly think about the person and then get a call from them and I used to get really wilded out about it like oh my goodness I can't believe I'm running into you now I'll when the Lord begins to highlight them to me I'll say Lord what's going on with them I ask a further up question Lord what are they going through well their marriage is going through something they're in a tough financial spot they need a brother right now they need encouragement. This is what I'm speaking over them so that when I hear from them, I'm ready to step through the door of edifying and building them up versus just go, isn't that cool? So, I would say that happens frequently. I would say I'm always in dialogue about me and the Lord, but God's I'm always talking to God about Bible. I've always got a Bible conversation going on with the Lord. And so I would say that's part of the realm of mysteries. I think dreams would be included in that. I believe that uh just the still small voice. But go we got to understand people God wants to talk. God is talking and he but he but he only you know the spirit look it it says in John 16 it's one of my favorite operations or occupations of the holy spirit. It says that whatever the holy spirit hears this is about John 16 verse about 13. It says that whatever he hears, he will speak. So you need to ask yourself, who's the Holy Spirit talking to? And then who's he going to talk to? Who who is he talking to is the father and the son. Who does he want to talk to? People who have built a landing strip of revelation on their life who long to hear. He'll he will tell you things. That's powerful. That's so powerful. You know, you mentioned also in your book on how praying in tongues is like charging your battery. You know, we live in a day today, Corey, where so many people are stressed out. They're overwhelmed. And and unfortunately, people in the church today, we are so quick to rush to a therapist, counselor, and get on meds. And I'm not against those things. Those things have a place. But some stuff we're facing is more spiritual than psychological and physical. And and Paul tells us in Corinthians to build yourself up, to edify yourself uh by praying in tonesues. And you in your book, you actually mentioned two different words uh for building yourself. Can you speak a little bit about the recharging yourself by praying in tonesues? Christianity is not outside in, it's inside out. And we have learned how to build our physical physiques. That's good. We've learned how to build our minds, our emotions, our desires. But who who is talking about building your spirit man? About focusing on the power of your spirit man. I would say all the other breakdowns in our life is due to weak spirits. Wow. So I believe because this is where where do we get that from? It's part of that edify. is part of that uh uh uh 1 Corinthians 14 that he who uh prophesies edifies the church. But he who prays in tongues edifies himself. And that edify is building, strengthening, erecting. It's the Jude verse 20 building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. So I believe this is what I want to give a vision for everyone out there. And when we talk about mighty spirits, it says about John the Baptist in uh Luke 1:80, it says he went into the deserts and he became strong in spirit. Strong in spirit. Jesus became strong in spirit. Ephesians 3, Paul prayed that you would be strengthened with might through his spirit in your inner man. That you would be strengthened with might through his spirit in your inner man. And friends, we are so focused on the outside. We are so focused on the outside world. But Jesus, John, and Paul, and everyone else, they focused on mighty spirits. And one of the greatest ways to charge your spirit is through extended times of praying in tongues because you're accessing the power of the spirit that's going to strengthen your inner man. That's, hear me, that is going to bring into alignment your thought life. That's going to bring into alignment your emotional chemistry. That's going to bring into alignment your desires. And that is going to bring into your alignment your body. The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you. And he will give life to your mortal body. And that's how we live it. It's holy of holies within that affects everything without. You know, I'm reminded of the story of David when he lost everything and his men were talking about killing him and before he inquired of the Lord, which some people in that depressive state, what they do is they seek God's direction. And sometimes they're so overwhelmed and stressed out. I I found that with myself, is that you're too deaf to hear even if God will speak. you're so disoriented that you need to first yourself strengthen yourself and then the Bible says David strengthened himself and the Lord is God and then he inquired of the Lord and God answered him and so many people they they seek God's direction but the the because like you said their spirits are so weak and they don't know how to strengthen themselves they just wait for God to strengthen them or uh when I was younger you know my my favorite prayer was Lord remove the stress in my life you know because ministry and family and all of these stuff, they just add a lot of stress. And I felt like the Holy Spirit said in my word, it says, "If you seek me, I will renew your strength." It doesn't say, "I'll remove your stress." So he says, "Stop asking me to remove the stress. Ask me to increase your strength." And I already gave you how to increase that strength by praying in the Holy Spirit. And so, you know, if you're not disciplined enough or if you don't practice that enough and you're always weak, always tired, always burned out, well, it's not the devil's fault or even God's fault for putting more weight on you than you can carry. You neglected your spirit. And like you said, your spirit is too weak. And therefore, sometimes, you know, our bodies and our flesh and our circumstances can take the best the best of us if our spirits are not built. And the best way to build your spirit is praying in the Holy Ghost. I love how and go ahead. No, I mean you the ver I just want to bring closure to what you started with. 1st Samuel 30:6 is the verse. It says David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. See that? That right there they were ready to stone him. Vlad all of the guys because the the Amalachites had come through Ziglag burned the whole city and took everybody's wives and children and possessions and all those mighty men that were following were ready to stone David. So, he's in the middle about to be stoned and something happened. What did he do? I I don't know exactly what it looked like for David, but he got a hold of God and his divine resource. And you know what happened? Saul died that day. Uh everything changed in one moment because David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. We've got to learn that when we are surrounded with uh with life's circumstances and the pressures and the everything that is just seeking to take us out. We've got to learn how to connect to the rock that's higher than I and connect to that power that's outside of us and that we can receive it on the inside. It's beautiful. Come on. You know, I about a month ago, I met with a pastor um local pastor here and um his story goes in is that he plants a campus actually in in where I live and there was an adultery that happened long time ago. He repented of it but hid it and it got exposed. So, he had to close the campus. So, he goes through this um reconciliation process because now he has to tell his wife. And so they sent him to one of the local pastors for a year to meet with him every week or so. And the local pastor on the first meeting with him said, "Do you speak in tonesues?" And he said, "Yes." He said, "Let's pray in tonesues for 30 minutes." So this is marriage counseling. I love that. 30 minutes he prayed in tonesues. And he said after that, he said, "Now I have hope for your marriage." And he's like, "Now we can talk about the rest of this stuff." And I was like, when he told me that, I was like, "What, you know, what a strategy." What a story. And so in in your book you mentioned the stories of addicts. You mentioned the stories of other people that you knew who were praying in tongues like supernatural things happened. You talk about also John G. Lake and and the power of tongues. Can you maybe whatever comes to your mind of some of the stories of other people's lives where like God just supernaturally intervened where people started to pray in tongues. Yeah. I mean I think the story I used in the book was from Jackie Pollinger and going to Hong Kong. this, you know, this British woman goes to Hong Kong, goes into the darkest heroin saturated area of Hong Kong and gets these heroin addicts saved. And their way of walking out deliverance was her teaching them, getting them filled with the spirit. And they would pray for extended periods of time in tongues. And they saw almost a 100% success of complete rehabilitation and leaving all drug addiction. And and I believe it because and these are scientific studies on this. I think Oral Roberts has done studies on this to where tongues there's rewiring in the brain. It's a different than normal communication that comes from different parts of your brain, but tongues overrides it and I believe heals uh uh brain uh dysfunction that allows addictions. So that there are even connections between tugs and the rewiring of brain. Uh, and so I I I think it's for that. I think it for me it is I I love that that pastor did that because I do believe because mighty spirits it it it again humility, power, resolve, uh, revelation and it changes everything. And so that John G. Lake called tonesues the making of his ministry is what he told. Praying in tonesues was the making of his ministry. Smith Wigglesworth often spoke in tongues. And so I I believe this is the law secret. It's the gateway gift is what I call it. It's the gateway gift that if you'll steward this. But see, here's the thing, Vlad. It's ugly and it and it and it's offensive to the mind because we don't understand immediately what we're praying. And so it it's it's almost like God says, "Okay, who who's going to come? Who's going to come?" and press through the awkwardness into the other side. And I think that's the invitation. Yeah. Some people, you know, they misuse and if you can kind of speak into it, they they misuse the verse where it says that, you know, not to speak in tonesues uh without interpretation. And um and they kind of throw everything about tonesues out and say, "Well, we shouldn't be speaking in tonesues um in public unless there's interpretation." Can you clarify that? What does that verse mean? And the difference between different tongue tongues. Yeah. I mean, well, there are all kinds of different tongues. Paul actually says 1 Corinthians 13 that there's the tongues of men and the tongues of angels. Um, ain't that a wild one? Um, 1 Corinthians 12, Paul is talking about church gifts that bring edification to the church. And among that list, he said that there are gifts of tongues and gifts of interpretation for tongues. And when he's addressing uh uh corporate edification, he says there are gifts of tongues in corporate settings matched with interpretation that bring edification. When you've got lost people at church, that's what's going to bring edification. So in in in in 1 Corinthians 12, he's talking about corporate gifts. In 1 Corinthians 14, he's talking about personal prayer language, which is, and in 1 Corinthians 12, not everyone has the quote unquote gift of tongues for corporate edification, but everyone has the availability, and it's God's longing that everyone has personal prayer language and has that place of prayer. Now, I believe that there's different meetings. There's meetings for people and there's meetings for God. And I would call Sunday morning church services meetings that are for the building of the body. In prayer meetings, they are meetings for God. It's not primarily the purpose of interpretation because we're not talking to people. We're talking to God. And so in our prayer meetings, we have extended times of lifting our voices. There are certain times even in corporate Sunday morning services where it's moved from just a teaching ministry and now there is a ministry time to where everyone is Godword that I think there are times and places for corporate tongues but it's all about the the nature of the meeting and uh it and and and what does it look like because Paul's addressing chaos in Corenth to where people are just standing up shooting out in tongues and Paul's bringing pastoral order to it. But in no way is he no way is he removing these gifts and saying they don't matter. He's actually establishing the glory of it. That's amazing. Thank you for clarifying that. And those people that are maybe watching right now or listening and they they want to receive this gift there. What are some of the common roadblocks to receiving this and how can someone overcome them? Well, it's hunger. At the end of the day, the hungry will eat and the thirsty will drink. Okay. So, I think Luke 11, he says of you being e number one is hungry. Hungry come. Number two, you need to know that your father is a good father. You're not going to wrestle a gift out of his hands. You're going to receive a gift. He goes, "If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?" Some people think, "I don't want it to be the devil. I only want God," which means I want God to come down from heaven, open up my jawline, take my tongue, and start moving it, and I'm not going to do anything. It doesn't work that way. Everything operates by faith. Everything operates by faith. Many times I will get a prophetic word and the Lord will require me to step out in faith with the word and then he gives me more. God in faith. What this looks like is God has a part and you have a part. God's part is to beginning to well up within you. Beginning to well up. That John 4 springing up. That that well springing up. That's God's part. Your part is to step out in faith and possibly look like an idiot for a second. Possibly look like an idiot for a second. Like you said, it's that offends the Yes. It offends the mind because I don't understand. And what God's unlocking is the prayer from your spirit. The prayer from your spirit and it bypasses your mind. And so we'll pray for you in a little bit. And so there'll be a welling up and then there's going to be a step of faith. And so you need to know that. I think there are some people if you know if you have parents or grandparents that have called tongues or the gifts of the spirit the devil. I believe that there are generational curses that come down that we can bless, forgive, take a stand in our generations and ask forgiveness for grandpa's stand against the gift of tongues and the gifts of the spirit. Wow. I believe that the blood of Jesus can cleanse and when you begin to bless previous generations, you can open up a new door for your family and for your generations. That's so good. We're going to pray in just a moment. But I I remember, you know, what you mentioned and that's what happened to me when I would feel that welling up, you know, and I was I was 14 at the time for 6 months. So I actually went into a every Wednesday fasting, 24-hour fasting to receive the gift of tongues. Even though it was partially because I was that blockage, I didn't need to fast to receive. All I needed to do is to release that welling up. It released those sounds. But I was so afraid that fear, you know, and you talk about fear, judgment, and pride. And so, and I so it would well up every day cuz I would I would pray about 30 minutes every day to get the gift of tongues. And it would well up, but I would not allow it to be released. I was like, "No, God is going to have to do it. It's going to have to be his sovereign move." You know, everything I received from God by faith, but this is going to have to come by force. Exactly. You know, and of course, God is a gentleman. He doesn't do that. And so it was Saturday 2:00 p.m. on the balcony of my parents' duplex. I'm doing my 30 minute prayer to receive tongues and I'm 14 years of age. And this time it welled up and it overwhelmed and one syllable came out and I got so I I got so scared cuz I was like, man, what is happening to me? And so I called my uncle who's my pastor and I was like, hey, something just happened to me. He's like, get back into that prayer and let more syllables come out. He's like, you're blocking that. And so I went went back into that prayer and it just started to just gush it out. And and so a lot of times I feel like for many people they receive that but they're just really not allowing it to be released by releasing the sounds that come from their spirit, not from their head, not from their mind. And so for those of you guys who are watching, we're going to pray in just a moment about that. But Corey, I I'm going to I'm curious and I've heard this you share in other podcasts and in your books, but what does what does Carrie's prayer time look like? Yeah. If I if I have an hour with the Lord. Uhhuh. Uh, it's beautiful. And I want to encourage some of y'all go, why do I keep saying the same thing over? They they they've been saying the same word in heaven forever. So, it's okay. Yeah. Yeah. Let's go. Holy. [Music] Um, if I have an hour, I think of it as 20 2020 or three different movements at my time. 20 minutes of receiving. This, this is a good question for your listeners. Do you know how to receive? Did you know that's what Paul asked the Ephesians, did you receive the spirit when you believed? Did you receive the spirit? I was reading Galatians yesterday about the hearing of faith and receiving of the spirit. Do you know how to receive from the word of God and sitting? So the first posture is a receiving posture. It's reading through the Bible, meditating, light tongues, whispering Bible to God with short size, deep breaths, and I love you Jesus. Because prayer begins with God talking, not you. Okay, that's so good. So the second movement is I will go from sitting down into either rocking or I will pace. And now it's not just internal per se, but I will begin to go external and go vertical. And now I'm going to begin to lift my hands and my head and my heart and I will begin to pray in tongues out loud for about 20 minutes where I am now putting my eyes on the throne room of God and on Christ within the hope of glory. And I am I am now blessing God with my spirit. I am magnifying God with my spirit. I'm blessing him. I'm worshiping him. And I'm extolling him in tongues. And I'm and I'm just and again now it's ministry to him. I'm just ministering to him. So the first one is receiving. The second one is ministry but I'm praying in tongues. And my mind will wonder still from time to time. I used to beat myself up when my mind would wonder. And now I just bring it back to God on the throne and God in my spirit. God on the throne, God in my spirit. And I will do that for 20 minutes. And usually, like I say, around 15 minutes, it goes from me reaching for God into me moving with God. I find there's like a synchronization. It's like a And now he's beginning to pray through you. And now prayers start coming, songs start coming, feeling starts coming, joy starts coming, peace starts coming, perspective starts coming, power, you know that you've you've put me in a broad place. There's that broad place of Psalm 18. Um, okay. And then the third movement is request. I will begin to ask God. But I will pray biblical prayers for my wife, my daughters, friends that I know that are going through seasons, situations that I'm walking through. Uh I will begin to ask God to intervene in those places and and and make my request and I will thank him that he hears me. And I will then re and if I based on the amount of time I have, I'll either go back into tongues or back into Bible and I will just keep that cycle of those three movements the whole time. That's beautiful. That's that's incredible. And and you have a lot to also share even you have a whole book on the importance of praying the scriptures, praying the word back to the Lord and and it's very powerful. I want to ask you one more question and that is about fasting. I don't know if it's you the one but I've been crediting it to you about the three-day bridegroom fast. Yes. How when you know and you mentioned that I remember last time that we talked in person you mentioned about the importance of how you're practicing that on a regular basis not just when you have crisis but just to kind of rekindle and sharpen yourself to fuel your prayer life. How is short these short fasts? Because I feel like some people what they do is they they go into this like 40 days or 21 days and then they next spend next two years never fasting and and their spiritual blade gets dull. How powerful is fasting in your life to fuel your hunger for God? Yeah. I would say and I would say for the majority of believers that the the best way to walk out a life of prayer and fasting is with short uh weekly and monthly fast versus big 40-day fast. It's really hard when you're raising families, when you're when you're building life, when you've got a lot of things going on. Really, Jesus only did one 40-day fast, okay? And it was a season of transition. there there will be a couple of those in your life two to three to four in your life uh that really mark transition and I've experienced those in seasons of transition that the bridegroom fast ma Matthew 9:14-15 Jesus is introducing a new paradigm of fasting and he said because they were asking they go why do we why do uh John's disciples John's disciples go why do we and the Pharisees fast often but you and your disciples don't fast and Jesus said because I'm introducing a new paradigm the they can't fast while the bridegroom's with them what Jesus was doing for three and a half years was addicting them to his presence he was addicting them to his words and addicting them to his presence and he says cuz when the bridegroom will be taken away from them then they will fast cuz they will mourn and long and pine for fresh releases of my presence upon their heart, a fresh recalibration to the marinath, the cry, come Lord Jesus. Fresh longing, fresh hunger, fresh loves sickness, fresh awakening of love. And so one of the things that we've gone after for many years is the first Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of every month to and it's a way to tithe the first three days of your month. So you you you know if there's 30 days in a month, if you tithe the first three days of the month to the Lord in fasting, I believe he it redeems the other 27 days of your month. I find that fasting re-calibrates me. It causes the word to get louder. It it it sharpens the blade. It tenderizes me. It humbles me. That's a big one, too, because fasting works humility in us. And when you're struting in your ministry expansion and not leaning in humility, you'll think actually you're producing this. So I'm talking to ministers there, too. So yeah. Yeah. Bridegroom fasting increases longing for the bridegroom. And I believe at the end of the day, it's not the breakthrough. We definitely want the breakthroughs without, but who's talking about breakthroughs within? That's so good. You know, we just actually came out of a three-day fast yesterday and on the last day there was such a like what you just highlighted that such a softening of the heart. First two days, you know, like the headaches and the difficult time to focus and you're kind of persevering and you you know and you're waiting for that for that sweet sweetness of Jesus and we were gathering for a culprit prayer yesterday and just in the middle of the prayer the presence of the Holy Spirit came. So, I mean, my I felt like my heart became like an ice cube that was thrown into hot boiling water. I couldn't stop the tears. I couldn't stop the the brokenness. It was just like almost naturally it was happening. Then I got in the car. I'm driving and the presence of God is in the car so powerful. I can't stop weeping. I'm groaning and I'm not even praying and I was like, "You got to be kidding me. This is incredible." You know, and so mo most people don't realize how powerful when fasting brings you to that humility, that brokenness before the Lord, and then these wells begin to just spring up, and they begin to refresh you, and you you're almost you're almost like you're living in that fresh first love that you had 20 years ago, 15 years ago, and you're you're continuously in that because of that hunger and because of that humility. Corey, would you pray for people that are hungry for receiving the gift of tongues? And if you could also pray for people that maybe lost that hunger for God, lost that hunger for the Holy Spirit, lost that hunger for ministers, people in ministry, and you know, like I I sometimes uh joke uh with people in ministry. I say, you know, when you know how the sausage is made, you don't want to eat it. When you've been around the ministry for so long and you don't have the passion for God, you just kind of people become addicted to the platform and allergic to God's presence. They're no longer alive and you can see it's just systems and and marketing and all of this stuff, but it it misses that revelation. It misses the spirit. It misses that that the glory that's upon their life. Yeah, absolutely. I I just want to pray that he's a good father. And he loves to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. And Jesus many times, John 7, he says, "He who's thirsty, come drink." Many times he goes, "Come, you are thirsty, come and drink. And out of your belly will flow rivers of living water." And he's talking about the spirit. So I love just to pray this. I just say, "Father, I ask you in the name of your son to fill me with the Holy Spirit. I want to speak in tongues. I want to prophesy. I want everything you died for, Jesus. Fill me now. Holy Spirit, from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet, I want a river to come out of me. I want a fountain to spring up within me. Fill me now, Holy Spirit. Fill me now, Holy Spirit. And Father, I just pray for everyone praying this in sincerity right now. Fill them. Be filled with the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. Be filled with the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. I declare rivers out of you. Fresh river of fire through your mouth, out of your spirit. I pray Lord that the strongholds of the mind would be broken, that you would release deliverance, that the strongholds would be broken, that fear would be broken, that shame would be broken. Oh, I thank you, Lord. Some of you always seek God out there and you're over here, but the baptism of the spirit makes you want. Father, release it, God. I thank you, Lord, that he will dwell with you and he will be in you. So fill us right now, Holy Spirit. Fill us right now, Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus. Thank you, God. Release it, I pray, in the name of Jesus. Amen. Amen. If you guys are watching and you're struggling or you need some fuel on the on your altar, um, I can highly recommend Cory's books or courses. I haven't taken the courses, but the the books have been personally enriching in in my life. And sometimes so those of you maybe even in ministry you're like yeah I kind of know you know I know yeah but you know the Bible says when disciples walked with Jesus then they said was not our heart burning when he spoke to us and my heart always burns when I even as he was talking about it felt presence of the Holy Spirit. So, I just really want to challenge you. Be intentional about your relationship with the Lord and add some fuel to that fire by allowing people to speak into your life who walk in that in a way that is going to enrich your own spirit of revelation and your own journey with the Lord.
