Understanding UNESCO's Four Pillars of Education

Hello everyone! Good morning sir and good morning classmate. Again, this is Mary J. Lanzab, Yersey Liba, and this will be the continuation of my report. the last topic that i will be discussing you probably it is also the last topic from the unit one is about the four pillars of education given by the unesco otherwise known as the unesco four pillars of education who among you are familiar or know about the four pillars of education anyone charlotte he didn't know since digital so as you watch this video pillars of education so stay with me bear with me and please watch this video the four pillars of education is the learning to know learning to live together learning to do and learning to be before we proceed to the definition of those four pillars of education we have first the definition of unesco so definitely unesco stand for united nation educational scientific and cultural organization What is UNESCO? UNESCO is a specialized agency of United Nations which focuses to contribute peace and security by promoting collaboration international through education, science, and culture. Now, how did the 4 pillars of education come to be? In the PowerPoint, it is being said that 2 educational reports effortlessly answered the challenges of the 21st century education. Meaning to say, our 21st century education is a bit challenging. So, it needs to be enhanced. That's why we have 2 reports that were published in UNESCO to answer those challenges. So, the first one, we have the Learning to Be or the Power Report. year 1972 and the other one is the learning the pressure within otherwise known as the loris report year 1996 so there were also cared towards sustainable development education holistic education and taking a look on education as a lifelong process so even sabihin itong dalawang report nato yung sumagot or sila yung nagpun na dun sa mga challenges na kinakasala during our 21st century education. So in these two reports, it was the Delores report, the one entitled, entitled, Learning the Treasure Redeemed, that was the one that got the four pillars of education. So again, the four pillars of education is the learning to know, learning to live together, learning to do, and learning to be. Let's start with the learning to know. Learning to know that... and development of knowledge and skills that are needed to function in the world include literacy numeracy and critical thinking so if you are thinking about learning to know this all pertains to what it all pertains to knowledge skills and attitude to be a mentally competent student so makatawid ang focus po ng learning to know is all about the brain of the person the rational thinking their higher order skills now again the focus of learning to know is about the mental capacity of a person so for you to understand learning to know i will provide an example or a scenario learning to know is all about the mental capacity of a person so for example i am your teacher and i let you serve or I gave you an activity wherein you have to provide a legitimate issues or legitimate information. So, when you get legitimate information or issues, you have different sources like internet, radio, television, etc. So, how will you know that you have this learning to know? Of course, your critical thinking will come here. You will serve wherein the validity of the data is given. You know your fake news in Hindi. You will search for references that can be used to get data which is valid or more legitimate by the information you are getting. So that's where your critical thinking will work which is part of the mental capacity of a person. So that's where our learning to know will go. Next, we have the learning to live together. Learning to live together, the development of social skills and values that enable individuals and society to live in peace and harmony, respect and concerns for others, social and interpersonal skills, and an appreciation of the diversity of all people. So, what it says in learning to live together is that we must have values and we must have an attitude wherein we can be able to live with other people wherein we can live with other people even if we are different in race, religion, belief, culture, gender, and nation that we are living in even if we have different opinions in life we can become a peaceful society. There are people who have learning to know or what I mean is, they are very smart but they can't be able to have friends they are having a hard time making friends. to make comfortable to others or socialize with others. We should also have learning to live together. An example here is every month of the week. If you are familiarized about the celebration of the month of the week because since now we don't have a month of the week where we have to wear the traditional clothes, the cultures, where the beliefs and cultures from the past are being spread. Learning to live together is being used by a student. because they are able to accept, they are able to respect others'culture that is different from their own culture. Next, we have the learning to do. Learning to do is the acquisition of skills that will enable individuals to effectively participate in a global economy or society. Learning to do is the skills that are often linked to occupational success such as vocational and technical skills, apprenticeship and leadership and management competencies. So, in the sub-interference of learning to do, or the focus of learning to do is our target goals wherein we become more effective in choosing our path or job sooner. So you have vocational and technical skills, leadership and management categories. Because there are also smart and friendly but it doesn't last long in my job. they are not able to achieve their goals. What I am implying is that they don't have the skill to be successful or to have a successful path to achieve their target goal. So again, I will provide an example. For example, during our first year college, we have this NSTB1 and NSTB2. We gained a lot of knowledge in that area. nsdp1 and nsdp2 more on how we can able to stand out for ourselves to help ourselves in the future um hindi lang siya basta basta lesson na ina-apply lang for quiz or for exam but also it is a lifelong knowledge na magagamit in the future so magagamit natin siya in the future or in our workplace and learning to do is something that you are doing something na talagang ha ha ha as a person. So even if you are outside the school or even you graduated, learning to do is always within you. The next one is the learning to be. Learning to be activities that promote holistic personal development, body, mind, and spirit for an all-around complete person. Learning to be is cultivating one's self analytical and social skills, creativity, and personal discovery. Let's say you have a mental capacity or you're smart, you have this so-called learning to know. Then you have a lot of friends which is learning to live together, which means you have social skills. And the next one is you have... Learning to do wherein you can be able to achieve or you can be able to be successful in your path or in your job. Learning to be is about the holistic development of a person. So what does that mean? Learning to be is about the holistic development of a person. to be will be your guide to be the best version of yourself. So that you can achieve self-sufficiency in being a complete person. What I'm saying here is that a complete person is not half alien half human. What I mean is that your holistic personal development is what you can build in learning to be. Learning to be will help you to achieve your self-actualization. For example For example, the sporty person, the sports field. If you notice, sports are not only played by athletes. Because in their sports, they get their better self. So because they play sports, especially if the athlete is a passionate, their confidence boosts. that will lead them to be the best version of yourself. Another example in learning to be is the artists. Of course, they make art. They are inspiring people. So, their art is made of passion, love. So, that's where they pour and prove themselves. And they become better when they see that the art that they provide is inspiring people. So, that is learning to be. Thank you. To sum it up, the four pillars of education is the learning to know or the mental capacity of a person, the learning to live together or the social skill of the person wherein he can interact with other people. And learning to do is how a person became successful in his job or in his or her path. And the learning to be is all about the holistic development of a person on how he or she will enhance to be a better version of themselves. Thank you. So that are the four pillars of education under the UNESCO. Or UNESCO four pillars of education. Again, this is Mary J. Lanzo-Girisuliba. And I hope that you gained knowledge from me. So thank you and may God bless you all.
