The cause of the French and Indian War started when the British started to expand into the Ohio River Valley (ORV) the ORV was also where the French decided to set up some forts. George Washington was sent out the orv fork, once he got there he noticed a big fort right in the middle, Fort Duquesne. He then built a fort called Fort Necessity, it was crap. The French then found him and did a siege, and then he surrendered after only 2 weeks. When he trudged back to the British he told them the news and the declared war.
There are several results from the French and Indian War. One of the many important examples is when they embarked on the Proclamation of 1763. This meant that many settlers were not allowed to move west. This was because they were afraid that a war would start between the colonists and the Spanish. Another impact the war had was lots of debt. The French and Indian war caused 133£ of debt. The last one, and probably the worst one in my opinion, was when they established new taxes. And these were dumb ones too. Stuff like tea, coffee, and even fabric. At the end of the war they ended up with all the french territory and the Mississippi river.
After the French and Indian War, the British put into place several new acts to help pay the large war debt. The first act is the Sugar act.The sugar act mostly taxed foodOne example was the sugar act. The sugar act mostly consisted of food like molasses, coffee, wine, and fabric for clothes. These items couldn't get through the harbor because they closed port for any foreign goods, this caused a lot of dispute throughout Boston and the ships. Another act was the Quartering act, this act was probably the worst one, and it put into force that the troops could come into your house without permission, take what they need (new boots, food, beds, and fuel.), and you couldn't refuse. This brings me to the Stamp Act which caused people to have to buy stamps for anything that had to be shipped elsewhere; newspapers, wills, and even land titles.
However, these taxes didn't go ever well with the British, they used many different methods of protesting. One of these ways was stoning tax collectors. This could vary from throwing hat tar on them and throwing feathers on them to look like chickens, sometimes to be less harsh they would throw honey instead of tar, and they would also throw stones on them, hence the word stoning. Another way of protesting was a popular event in history called the boston tea party. This is when a ship with lots of tea that had been sitting in port for months, because of the tea act, dumped their tea into the harbor to protest. Some people had put signs to mark the day that this would happen so many people were there to witness the catastrophic event. The third way of protesting they did was boycotting. Lots of Brits would stop buying any British goods to protest if they wanted the port to be reopened. They also signed petitions to show their hatred towards the new tax laws. Finally, they also smuggled goods from outside of Boston to sell so they could get other than Boston made goods.
The Intolerable Acts were put into place to punish the people of Boston after the Boston Tea Party. During the intolerable act they passed a couple of laws that many people were unhappy with. The first law was when they closed the port to Boston. When they closed the port, people in Boston could only buy products that were made in Boston, but anything made by foreign countries could not come in. The next law was when they abolished the mass legislature. This meant that the Governor now had all the power and could do pretty much whatever he wanted. This brings me to my next point, the entire point of moving to Boston was to get away from Britain's terrible laws. However, when they murdered a British, they were sent back to Britain to die. The last and final law was when they strengthened the quartering act. When they did this patriots started smuggling food and supplies to Boston so people could get what they wanted or needed. One of these laws led to a famous event in history, commonly known as the Boston Tea Party. When they closed off the port to Boston, there happened to be a ship there with tea waiting to be approved, but they had been waiting for over a month now so they made posters and signs abou how they were going to dump all the tea into the harbor. However, soldiers did absolutely nothing about it because a bit before there was a murder of a few people and they were quite shaken up. Then the British congress held the first continental congress meeting in Philadelphia in September of 1774. When 12 colonies sent delegates all of them demanded that they repeal the intolerable acts. Then they called for training of colonial militias because the British ignored their demands. This led to the Battle of Concord. They sent them there because they wanted to take military supplies and capture the Patriot leaders.
