Blockchain Ticketing Revolution

the year is 2024 right most people think that the ticketing landscape is as good as it's ever going to be you can buy something on your phone show up to a ticket and it's wonderful funny enough the ticketing industry is going through a fundamental change today and it is a trend that is going to exponentially grow in the coming years I am talking about the introduction of this novel technology that no one likes to talk about called blockchain and nfts now why does this have anything to do with ticketing well let me start by telling you a quick story right everybody knows I'm a huge Swifty love Taylor Swift right couple months back during the eras tour tickets go on sale right all of them completely gone the prices went up insane so they they went on sale for like $500 next day you know is like thousands of dollars right I was not going to pay that and so me being you know the clever guy I am I was going to wait and see if I could Scout tickets right before it was happening so fast forward biggest day of my life I was going to see Taylor Swift in concert at the ARs tour I go up and outside there's this nice gentleman clean looking guy big baggy shirt he was wearing soccer cleats and he said that he was going to sell me these tickets for the airs tour and he said they were only going to be 400 bucks which was dramatically cheaper than anything I'd find online pulls up the QR code looks pretty legit he transfers it to my email I get it go up to the front door door wait in line walk up to the front Gates go to scan my code didn't work ends up although this ticket was verified through trustworthy websites it was said that it was already used as someone that went inside this didn't make any sense to me and I recently learned that this is due to some serious serious problems within the traditional ticketing industry there are a couple main players that pretty much just run all the tickets across the world Ticket Master is the big one I hate to called him out but what happened during this of why that I bought these fraudulent tickets from this dude in soccer cleats and it didn't work in front was the fact that on the launch of these tickets there were people with Bots that had camped out that they were going to buy the all the tickets hundreds at a time and then instantly resell them online for exorbitant prices right one person shouldn't be allowed to buy hundreds at a time if if they can't prove that they're in a party of 100 people so the second Market got fizzed up just a little bit off the start and then since the the verification of these tickets the system it's it's very disorganized no fault of the people behind it but just the nature of web 2 technology in other words centralized databases it is extremely extremely difficult to coordinate tickets it's it's very very difficult to coordinate single units of value and Link it to one single person especially if these move in a dynamic environment with secondary markets and so I was given what one provider thought was a perfectly good ticket but on the back end that this specific ticket was actually somebody else's that had already got into the the event and I didn't see Taylor Swift I've not been the same since it was absolutely devastating now let's think of the scenario okay so what if this system was on the blockchain it would actually solve both of these problems the first problem is that someone shouldn't be able to just bought these ticket sites and inflate these prices and it just go to a couple Hustlers right as I said no fault of of Ticket Masters it's just a really difficult problem to solve with nft ticketing you can verify the ticket holder kyc on the back end to guarantee that there's a single ticket for a single person and none of the madness can ensue so if you were to buy 100 tickets you would essentially have to make sure that you have a 100 people individual people going totally fair why would I buy a ticket to an event that I'm not going to and of course I totally understand that things can happen and you may have to resell this ticket I'm not hating on secondary markets I actually encourage them now how nft tickets assist the secondary Market is traditional databases right you can just think of it as a table and whatever this table changes it's really tricky to keep records of each individual item of where each ticket goes blockchains are are done very very step-by-step horizontally so when I buy this ticket from the dude outside of the Taylor Swift concert in soccer cleats I can trace that this ticket came from the original source and no one else has it it is only in my wallet verified with my identity and so when I buy this Taylor Swift ticket for $400 at a reasonable price last minute to go inside of the concert I can verify that this is a real ticket and it hasn't been used in somebody else's wallet and it hasn't been used before to get into theater why am I saying that this is a trend happening now that's going to explode well there's two things I want to highlight most of it is happening on Avalanche number one a couple months ago it was announced that uh dramis and the Upton subnet which is a layer one blockchain on Avalanche that is huge huge and soulle in South Korea they're hosting Arena K-pop concerts with nft ticketing that has been used for the past couple months it's actually a really awesome use case okay let's go to the other side of the world I I can't say too much about this deal it's genuinely insanely exciting tick base one of the OG's on Avalanche they're also spinning up a layer one blockchain and they're going to host over 26 million tickets on chain that's a huge number as I said it's a small Trend that's happening today that's going to explode in the future so in conclusion why you should care about this as a a tech Enthusiast like myself you just love to see Trends but for consumers and for businesses that host events it's better for both sides because with that secondary resale you can have complete visibility into the ecosystem of tickets trading hands with money involved you can collect small fees in there without any aborate fees or um bad actions from parties that may not have your best interest in mind and from the consumer tickets are just simpler and you just want to see the concert I just want you to see the concert I want you to experience the Taylor fli errors tore it will be a lot more straightforward if you just buy the ticket say hey this is me this is my identity and not have to worry about anything happening no matter where you got the ticket or anything so this is a huge Trend and is largely happening on Avalanche thanks to layer one technology because these systems can be contained on a global database that's the difference between the classic way that things have been done in web 2 I'm not saying databases are going away they're extremely powerful but for instances like this when you have unique digital value blockchains just make a lot more sense it can be accessed all over the globe very very cool Trend I'm excited to see where it goes here's to hear your thoughts
