Catatan Kuliah: Penggunaan Passive Voice dalam Bahasa Inggris

Pendahuluan

• Pembahasan tentang penggunaan "di" dan "terdalam" dalam bahasa Inggris.
• Fokus pada Passive Voice.

Apa itu Passive Voice?

• Passive Voice: Kalimat di mana subjek dikenai pekerjaan.
• Struktur: Menggunakan "to be" (am, are, is, was, were) diikuti oleh V3 (past participle) dan seringkali diikuti dengan "by" (agen).

Contoh

• Aktif: "Jenny memanggil saya."
• Pasif: "Saya dipanggil oleh Jenny."
  • Struktur: I am called by Jenny.

Cara Menggunakan Passive Voice

1. Simple Present

• Struktur: is/am/are + V3.
• Contoh: "Many books are written by authors."

2. Simple Past

• Struktur: was/were + V3.
• Contoh: "The book was read by Mary."

3. Present Continuous

• Struktur: is/am/are + being + V3.
• Contoh: "The material is being prepared by John."

4. Past Continuous

• Struktur: was/were + being + V3.
• Contoh: "The cake was being baked by Sarah."

5. Present Perfect

• Struktur: has/have + been + V3.
• Contoh: "The new bag has been purchased by Selly."

6. Future

• Struktur: will be + V3.
• Contoh: "The door will be opened by someone."

Penghilangan Kata "by"

• Kata "by" dapat dihilangkan jika:
  • Pelaku tidak diketahui.
  • Menggunakan kata ganti yang tidak jelas (indefinite pronouns) seperti "someone" atau "everyone."
• Contoh: "Everyone has eaten the food." menjadi "The food has been eaten."

1. Ubah kalimat ke dalam passive voice:
   • My mother cooked rice.
     • Jawaban: Rice was cooked by my mother.
   • Dina is calling you.
     • Jawaban: You are being called by Dina.
   • Someone has stolen my pencil.
     • Jawaban: My pencil has been stolen.
   • John will meet Vina.
     • Jawaban: Vina will be met by John.
   • Selly and George have big mango.
