This is the plan to clear your TEF Canada exam in 2025 if you are just a beginner or if you are in the middle of training for TAM. So, you have to wait for the results and I'll tell you in the next video on what is the result. But in today's video, I want to talk to you that if you want to learn French in 2025 or you have a plan to learn for TEF Canada, what are the most updated resources and what are the most updated methodologies that you should follow?
So, I will guide you step by step from a beginner up until the TEF Canada exam preparation. I want you to perform your best to clear the TEF Canada exam in 2025. That's why I'm there to help you. But before using all these resources, I want you to make three promises with me.
First promise. Look, all these things, all the techniques and all the methods of learning French, you get to know only when you have gained enough experience. And me and all the team members and all the students who have cleared the exam, we have learned these things along with the experience on what works and what does not work when it comes to learning French in the quickest amount of time possible. That is why don't question these things.
Okay, you will find some methodologies like, does it really work or does not? Okay, but you will not understand it at that time. You will not know that is it really helping.
But over the long run, that will really help you. The second promise that I want you to make is stop worrying about the other resources than what I'm going to mention. Now we have a lot of resources when French learning is the goal. We want to use this thing, this is also a very good resource, that is also a very good resource, but it's very important to focus on specific resources.
particular method may kissy ko kam aihon and all these resources that I'm going to mention ki mujhe, Harleen ko, Darshan ko and all the others who are prepping for TEF Canada ye unko kam aa rahe hain that's why these are tried and tested methods so please do not worry too much about ki aur apko resources kia kia use karne padegi as long as you stick to these properly with enough time investment over the long run into it you will do fine so make sure to do that and the third promise I want you to make to me is do not lie to yourself when it comes to learning French agar If you want to learn within 1 year, within 10-12 months, you have to make sure that you're studying regularly and giving enough time. You can't be like, oh, you know, Vyom told me or in the video, he told me that you'll be done in 12 months, but I followed the approach, but it didn't happen. For that, you also have to stick to not only the resources, but also to enough intensity. only then you will be successful. So keeping these things in mind, now let's discuss about the overall structure of how we will progress learning French in 2025. This structure is going to be divided into four components.
The first component is of our beginner, which you can see over in the timeline on YouTube as well. The second component is of our deep dive-in. And the third component is of our intermediate. The fourth component is TEF prep.
If you are someone who is very confident in basic level stuff in French or who wants to do TEF Canada regarding preparation, you can just go on to intermediate timestamp right now. you don't need to watch watch the first two steps of this video. But if you are a beginner, then let's get started right from the beginning. Alright, so let's start with the beginning. If you are a beginner, there are a few things that you just need to do in the beginning.
It's not too complex. First thing I would recommend is go to my YouTube channel Frenchify. Obviously, if you are over here right now, you will be able to see. In the playlist tab, I have given you a proper step-by-step plan.
All you need to do is just follow that playlist, follow those videos and understand the lecture step-by-step. pretty easy. I'll show you the video here, how it will look like. Just follow step by step plan. But now the thing is that these are grammar topics.
But how do you practice it? How do you practice them? To practice, do this thing.
Just purchase this book, Complete French All-in-One. And look, I'm not sponsored, but this is what I really recommend. Because when I I started my friend, I was looking a lot for different types of books but I found this the easiest and most comfortable.
Why? Because the topics are laid out in an easy way, it is connected with English so that we can make a good comparison and understand things. When you are just like consuming a language, if you don't connect anything with English, it takes a lot of time to build up the context.
So that's why what I recommend is this book is really great. One problem of this book is that if you open the index. In index, you will see that the topics are laid out not in a way that is beginner friendly.
That means that if you read 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 steps like this, you still can't get that beginner order to progress step by step. That's why I am saying that go to the playlist. You will be able to get the step by step progression from the playlist.
Let's say if you study a topic from the playlist. Once you study that topic, open the same topic in the book. For example, pronominal verbs. You can open it here too.
And go to its back exercise and solve the back exercises. Okay. That should be pretty much it for your first month. First month goal is to focus on completing as many videos and lectures as possible.
So that would be one important thing. And the second important thing. Now you will start reading grammar from playlists and you will start understanding the structure of the language.
But what about vocabulary? How do we do listening practice? How do we do reading practice?
Well, first of all, you don't need to do anything else. But you can just go on to my another YouTube channel, which is Frenchify Podcast. What I do is I upload simple, very simple, basic A1, A2 level story. so that you are able to not only listen at a very base level but also read at a very base level which will improve your vocabulary consumption. And I have mentioned the level of A1, A2 and so forth in every of its thumbnails.
So that will really really help you. But with that, to make things even better, you can use this book. Edito A1, you can purchase this.
It would be a good investment. I don't really recommend doing everything from this book but even if you do like 4-5 units during your first month or first 2 months, that should be good enough. So this should wrap up your first month. You don't need to do more than this.
This is your beginning phase. You don't have to worry about Duolingo. You don't have to worry about all the other Pimps, LerApps and stuff like this.
As long as you do this, as long as you set up a strong base for grammar and vocabulary, that is good to move forward to the next phase in which we are going to dive deep into the language. Now let's talk about that. Now talking about the second to fourth month.
Okay, now this is the time when your grammar should be finished. Okay, so just focus on completing the playlist. That's the first thing. Okay, finish all the Frenchify playlists.
All the grammatical topics that are over there, that will help you set up a strong base for the language. But also, when you do topics from there, still there will be some topics which won't be covered in the playlist because, you know, they'll be coming soon. But if you still see anything missing, you just open the complete French all in one. And from that, you can study the topic. It's not a rocket science.
It's nothing too difficult. Let's say, if you have done all the tenses from the playlist, but a couple of things were missing or... opening the index you saw that this tense was also there which was not included there. Just open it and read the chapter you should be good.
Here in our second, third, fourth month, our goal is that we just get good with the grammar. Now getting good with the grammar, I don't mean that you should have memorized everything in terms of conjugations or all the rules and everything preposition and stuff. But that means that you have a proper idea of how prepositions work, how conjugations work. How past tenses work, that this rule applies in the past tense, this rule applies in the future tense, conjugation is not like this, it is like this, and stuff like that.
As long as you know the rules, over the time it will improve, so that won't be a problem. You don't need to learn grammar. Very important to understand, I wasted a lot of time in grammar.
If I could have done, you know, if I could have stopped doing one thing, I would have stopped consuming too much time on grammar and that would help me give more momentum. But anyway, we learn from past experiences, so I am telling you this. Now apart from grammar, when your grammar will be finished within your 3rd or 4 something like that month, along with that, you have to keep doing the vocabulary, EDITO A1.
EDITO A1, I had said earlier that within the first month, the first 3-4 units are fine. But now focus on completing 60-70% of this book. In total, there are around 11-12 units. But you have to finish around 7-8-9 and that should be good.
You don't have to finish this entire book because You will focus on other resources for reading and listening. Which I mentioned Frenchify podcast. That's the first important thing.
The second important resource for your reading and listening practice is going to be French Fasil channel. Now at this point, at the second, third, fourth month, you start listening to this French Fasil channel. Because it's going to be very useful.
Not only in listening. It will help you in pronunciation. Because the more you listen, the more you get better in pronunciation.
And it will help you in reading as well. Why? Because whenever you listen to it, you always have to keep the subtitles on.
For sure, your goal should be to figure out the stuff without subtitles. But as a beginner, it's not a problem to have subtitles on. Please don't worry. Please don't think that I'm cheating when I'm turning on the subtitles. It's not cheating at all.
I have switched on subtitles up until mid. I used to listen to the subtitles on for a long time. It's not a problem. Okay, so... just understand this.
With Frenchify podcast, you can supplement 2-3 more YouTube channels. You know, just go on YouTube and type basic French short stories and start listening to them. Okay, whatever good stories you like, you just implement those in your regular routine, read them, listen to them and also kind of like create a script so that you are able to, you know, practice a little bit of your language output as well.
So that will be useful. Once you have started working on Frenchify Podcasts or French Fasil. After this, there is one more YouTube channel which I really recommend is InnerFrench.
Now, don't start InnerFrench until your grammar is finished. Please first focus on completing the grammar. Do the edits properly. Almost 60-70% of the book should be finished.
Then you start this channel InnerFrench. Now, InnerFrench will give you a very good listening practice. The accent of that guy who speaks is very simple and easy to understand. But also using higher level vocabulary.
So, the thing is that you will gain a lot of vocabulary. Listening will also be a very good practice. So we...
And with that, all the titles will be on, so you will keep reading. But now what to do specifically for reading? For reading, what I recommend is just have 2-3 basic storybooks. Don't dive too much into detail.
Oh, I should start reading novels or I should start reading complex French books. Don't worry about that. Keep books simple. First, start with a simple storybook.
Go on Amazon, type French short stories and you will be able to order that and start reading that book. Because When we go to the next part, intermediate level, then I will tell you more resources on reading and listening. which are focused on TEF Canada. But before that, it is very important that you build a good relation with reading and listening. So that is why stick to these for now.
Now, this is our reading, listening and overall language practice. But what about speaking and writing? See, honestly, you don't need to worry about writing at all because writing is our passive training when we are practicing grammar.
Let's talk about speaking. For speaking, now what you should do, you should pick particular topics. Here are the examples of the topics that you can pick.
But what you have to do with these topics is you have to create a script of these topics and you have to learn that script and you have to recite it in a camera and record yourself and then see your mistakes after you record yourself. Okay, it might feel like a complex. You might feel like, oh, you know, how does it really work? But honestly, don't try to over complexify things.
Just pick the topic which I recommended to you. Just write down the whole script on your notebook. Make sure to correct it as well.
Check it with reversals so that there are no mistakes. Once you have all the grammar correct, just learn it and speak in front of camera and just memorize that script. If you memorize 8-10 topics of different scripts, you will start speaking slowly and steadily. Your spontaneous speaking ability will be built. But having said that, this is a process that takes 2-3 months.
So you really have to be patient. You have to understand that it will take time. You just have to memorize and keep on reciting, keep on reciting over the time. We will talk about how to work more specifically on speaking as well.
Okay, now your fourth month is going to be a transition phase into your intermediate journey. Now, what should you start at this point? Nothing has changed.
Look, your grammar is already finished. You know, just work on completing the grammar during your fourth month. And please don't push the grammar too much.
Otherwise, it will waste a lot of your time. So, up until the fourth month, focus on getting done with the grammar. And at this point, you start listening from...
A little bit more different resources. First one is going to be TVSunkMund. Okay.
Now, TVSunkMund, don't start listening anywhere. Go to TVSunkMund. Open A1, A2 level audios and only practice those audios. Okay.
Below that, you will have transcripts. It will help you read as well and also listen at the same time. So, make sure to practice those.
And after that, once you listen to the audio, after that, there are questions for its practice. MCQs are also there. It's a good way for you. to test yourself as well, test your knowledge.
So that would be a great resource. The second resource is RFI from Sifasil. And same thing over here. Don't just, you know, start listening random stuff on RFI from Sifasil. Go on to RFI from Sifasil, open level specific exercises.
Just click on exercises and you will be able to go on to level A2 and listen to A2 level audios. That would be good enough. Now, keep practicing this.
For the third month, fourth month, fifth month, keep practicing this. Make sure to dive completely into these two resources. Now, Let's transition into our level intermediate.
Now this is the point where our language learning will drastically change. Our approach will drastically change. Because now we are leaving behind the theoretical part of the language. And we are expanding more into the language through more reading and listening practice.
That being said, what do we do for reading? First of all, for reading you purchase this book. Read and Think French. Again, I am not sponsored. This is something that I use.
So I recommend you as well. Purchase this book. Start reading it.
there are lot of different articles, paragraphs that you will read over here, which will have a very high level of vocabulary. So, I will definitely recommend this to you. Try to get done with at least 50% of this book.
And with this, you start reading articles now from Le Monde as well. Le Monde.fr, this is one of the news websites which will help you to understand more of the technical level vocabulary that is used in French. Now, along with this, no one will tell you.
It's very important to know that when you are preparing for the French TEF Canada exam, it's not only French accent that is important but also the cubic accent is very important. So for that, you have to go on to this YouTube channel called Radio Canada Info, Radio Canada Info. And there you just practice listening to those videos as well.
That will help you build your cubic or French accent. The other resources that you... For example, RAD, this is also one of the YouTube channels of Cubiqua French.
Just use those to be able to build your ear practice for Cubiqua accent as well. Very important. Let's talk about more listening resources to use at that intermediate level.
Now, the listening resources will stay the same. RFI Fronce Fasil, TV Sangmon. But now over here, you do one more thing.
You start listening to B1 level audio of RFI Fronce Fasil as well as TV Sangmon. With this, you use one more channel now, which is called Yemi Epicureo. Okay, this is my personal recommendation. When I was reading French, when I was around intermediate level, I used to listen to a lot of his videos.
They are very interesting. They were interesting for me, might be for you as well. So, you can also watch this so that you are able to gain a lot of vocabulary on different different aspects in French language. Now, with this, with Inner French with Jamie Epicure, or before Jamie Epicure, you can also implement easy French YouTube channel.
Now, this is very important and a very fun YouTube channel to watch if you are a French learner. So, listen as much as you can, watch the videos as much as you can. You should not question yourself that yes, today it's been an hour.
So I'm good to study French. Do as much listening as possible. Do it actively, do it passively. The more listening you have, the better your language will improve.
Keep on doing it with the subtitles, without the subtitles, okay? So overall listening resources at that intermediate level. Inner French, Easy French, J'aime et Pique Rieu, RFF France et Facile, A to B1 level section, TV Saint-Mond, A to B1 level section. This is good enough for intermediate.
Now, I want to share a problem with you which I and many students face. When we are listening to a reading, we get demotivated. Why? Because it takes us about 1 hour to understand a reading paragraph.
To properly dissect and comprehend it. Same thing with listening. It takes us 1 hour to understand a 3-4 minute audio. Why?
Because we don't just listen to it. We have to dissect it and understand it. I really want to mention that this is completely normal.
Please don't get demotivated. if you that means you are on a right track. It's just a matter of time. You should not evaluate yourself on daily basis or weekly basis. Listening or reading is a very slow process.
So you have to evaluate your progress on monthly basis. When you are not evaluating yourself after at least a month, you don't have a right to say that I haven't improved. You take 1-2 months, 3 months, 4 months. After every month, you will see that your graph is increasing. As long as that is increasing, then you don't need to get demotivated.
Okay, that is very important to know. Okay, so now let's talk about the speaking. Speaking will change a little bit.
The topics we will take now are not simple, they will be a little complex so that we are able to challenge ourselves a little bit more in terms of practicing your speaking. The best case would be to join a particular, you know, like to have a friend with whom you can speak French or you can join my sessions as well. Because we start our proper speaking in B1 and we do very high level exam specific prep.
But if you would not like to go with that option, what you can also do is you will be able to use these topics. You have to create bullet points. Pick a topic, don't write a script on it, but just create like bullet points and then try to record yourself, speak yourself in the camera on explaining that particular topic. This is what I used to do.
It works, but just you have to be patient. In the short term, we think that this won't work, but this actually really helps. Okay, you have recorded the video once, make sure to go back to that video and properly see where you made mistakes.
And at this point, the goal is to just speak more. Don't worry about grammatical mistakes, that will be solved over time. If you want to see what is the trick behind doing a proper speaking practice, you can watch my video.
I have just recently uploaded. This is the video. So use these topics at a higher level, at intermediate level to be able to do spontaneous monologues.
And one more thing for speaking, over here start exploring Section A of TEF Canada. I know that it is a little early now, but I would rather have you start exploring TEF Canada earlier than later. So Section A of TEF Canada speaking. Start looking at it from now on, how is the exam pattern, how is the structure, so that your ability to make questions is also getting better. Now let's talk about writing.
Okay, in writing, you will have confusions that I am studying alone, how will speaking and writing improve if there is no one to analyze me? At that point, feel free to reach out to me so that you are able to practice specifically for TEF Canada. At B1 level, we do exam specific preparation right at level B1. So if you are an intermediate, if you properly want to start learning French for TEF, Just let me know and I'll be able to help you.
But if you're doing self-study, how to work on writing? Well, first of all, just don't worry about anything else. Just do exam-specific writing. Honestly, we don't need to waste time on writing other types of writing. Just focus on Section A of TEF Canada.
That's why we are able to start it right at B1 or intermediate level. Just see the structure. I will definitely be uploading more videos on the structure of Section A TEF Canada writing. If you want to know that, just stay tuned.
That will help you to properly understand on what to do in writing Section A of TEF Canada. And this is the structure that I use for my students. And using this structure, my students were able to score up to CLB 10. in writing.
That means it's tried and tested method. It works as long as you know that structure. It should be good for TEF Canada exam.
So if you would like to join the program, just feel free to let me know. Okay, so this method that I told you should go on at least for 3-4 months. For 3-4 months, you are reading from the articles, you are using proper articles and higher level storybooks like Read and Think French and Le Monde and Le Figaro and stuff like that.
If you are listening, that should go on for 3-4 months from RFF on CIFASAIL, TVSanctmo and all the resources that I mentioned. Once this happens, your competency will be built at this level that now you can start worrying about the exam specific prep. Well, for that you need to purchase PrepMyFuture because PrepMyFuture has all the mock exams or all the mock practices that you need to do for TEF Canada.
Again, I am not sponsored. once you are 8 to 9 months into your learning, just... give one mock exam and see ki apke kitne score aate hain. According to that score now work on your weak points. Let's say agar apne you know reading or listening ka exam diya if you were able to score 22 out of 40 in listening and 25 out of 40 in reading.
That means apka listening So you start doing more listening and also start doing more exam specific listening. Now exam specific listening, nothing changes, there is no difference, the resources will remain the same. That's why I told you the resources at the intermediate level so that you can use it from the start.
RFI, France Fasile and TVSankMond, these two main resources will remain because from here TEF Canada uses a lot of audios to put it in the exam. And you can also watch their audios and videos on RFI's YouTube channel. You can also watch their videos on TV Sangmo's YouTube channel. You can watch videos.
So that would really help you to build up your listening practice. Talking about reading, for reading, for Tefkanda specific, Lermond, Lerfigaahoo and one higher level book of your choice. Now, it is a book which obviously won't focus on exam specific prep, but that book should be some sort of like a self-improvement book that can help you give more volume into reading.
Okay, so that is just for more volume. But for technical vocabulary that comes in the exam, Lermond, Lerfigaahoo. are the good resources to work on.
So that you will know the high level vocabulary. But also, you don't just read at this point. You also focus on reading as quickly as possible.
Because the challenge is not only to comprehend the paragraphs, but the challenge is also to comprehend the paragraphs as soon as we can. Because the exam, obviously, is time-based. Answering 40 questions in one hour is not a cup of cake for everyone.
It is difficult. That's why I recommend you that quickly read and understand the context, focus on building that fluency in your reading. Same thing for listening.
Now for speaking and writing, obviously you have to take an exam specific prep. It can't happen automatically because you need that language exchange to happen. So at that point you will be able to reach out to me and Fringify is always there to help you for your test prep.
