Draping in Supine Position
Demonstration:
Using Charlie the Mannequin as patient and Emma as surgeon
Medium Sheets/Half Sheets:
Bring medium sheet, pass half to surgeon
Drape the inferior patient, extend, make a cuff, and drop
Unfold the second sheet, extend, make a cuff, and place superiorly
Covers most of the patient and reduces contamination risk
Towels Preparation
Preparation:
Prepare all towels ahead of time
Placement Sequence:
First towel on surgeon's side
Next, place towels superiorly (top), inferiorly (bottom), and finally on own side
Maintain a distance of 12 to 18 inches from the field to avoid contamination
Final Draping: Laparotomy Drape
Instructions on Drape:
Manufacturers provide guidance
Positioning:
Place at incision site, unfold, surgeon and assistant grab sides
Cuff hands, extend, unfold completely
Surgeon grabs white paper to finalize draping
