A new straw hat, Robin being Luffy’s older sister
and the biggest explosion we have seen in the history of one piece, and no im not talking about
Atlas, although she was without a doubt the MVP of egghead island, being the one sacrificing herself
for the sake of the straw hats. With chapter 1120, the one piece manga has set up some truly insane
things, as Luffy and the crew are finally sailing away from Egghead island and towards their
next destination. And honetly there is so much to discuss here, i don’t even know what
to start with: Lilith, Professor D. Clover or the iron giant. All 3 are equally massive, so
let’s just work through these in order i guess, meaning that we start by saying welcome to the
crew Lilith, slash vegapunk question mark? Okay, here’s where we’re at. At this point in the
story, after Atlas’ brave and honestly very moving sacrifice, Vegapunk and all of his satellites are
now dead, with 2 very notable exceptions. York, who betrayed the other Vegapunks to the world
government, will most likely leave the island alive and well with the Gorosei and probably join
them up in Marijois to either install the mother flame there or, in case it gets destroyed, create
a new one from scratch. And then we have Lilith, who is no knocked out on board of the thousand
sunny. Why knocked out? Because Atlas out of nowhere gave us some of that sweet chin music and
punched her fellow Vegapunk nr. 2 into a coma. However, after a short moment of collective
shock, it turns out that she took a page out of Garp’s playbook and it was all a fist of love
after all. You see, with nasjuro, who by the way, let’s be real out of all the Gorosei has earned
by far the most respect from me during this whole arc with his crazy powers, anyways, with him about
to destroy the sunny, Atlas knew that Lilith would not stay behind and try to fight as well. So in
a real act of Love, Atlas made sure she would be safe and escape with the straw hats. That, but
I strongly suspect also to make sure that at least 1 good Vegapunk would survive the egghead
island incident as well and help save the world. Now we also see Atlas either removing something
from Lilith’s head or switching something off, which immediately makes York and her lose
contact with her. What probably happened here, was that York uncoupled Lilith from the shared
Vagapunk consciousness and possibly even from Punk records itself, which will not only hide the
fact that she escaped from the Gorosei, but as we will see also makes it a lot more reasonable for
Lilith to become a straw hat. Meaning that Lilith will from now on be traveling with Luffy and co.
But is Lilith ACTUALLY gonna join the crew here? or is this gonna be more of a Law slash vivi
situation, with her tagging along for an arc or two before then being dropped of somewhere and
doing her own thing? Well let’s look at the pros and cons here. And the first pro, im just gonna
say it: I just want Lilith to join. Yes, that’s not very objective, but hear me out: We havent
had a single new crew memeber during the timeskip with the sole exception of jinbei, who has been
part of the story for ages. We didn’t get Yamato, which honestly still hurts my feelings, and we
also are in dire need of balancing out the sausage fest that is the straw hat crew. now, you could
say: what about bonney? And that is totally an option i also still see as very realistic here.
But Lilith also has a quite unique personality that would fit in quite well with the crew. She
is pretty tough and rough, but in a different way than say Nami. She also is pretty capable as a
fighter, but not in a way that would threaten the power dynamic of the crew. She is fundamentally
a good person and easily quirky enough to have great screen presence and chemistry with the crew.
Plus basically her entire family or i guess parts of herself have been murdered here after a
massive betrayal, giving her more than enough reasons to join luffy and fight the government
and save the world from flooding, something that the OG vegapunk wanted to do anyways. So we can
actually tick off a surprising amount of classic straw hat check boxes with a tragic backstory,
a dream and a reason to follow Luffy. Now on the con side of things, even though physically
Lilith might not be overkill joining the crew, knowledge wise having her on board could be a real
problem. For one, with a Vegapunk on board, would someone like Franky not become somewhat obsolete?
Or would they just work together? similarly, Vagapunk knows a lot, and i mean A LOT about the
void century and the research done on Ohara. So would that make Robin’s role somewhat obsolete?
But here i think, is where Atlas comes into play again. Because if lilith has truly been de-coupled
from the punk records and all the other Vegapunks, it might just be the case, that 90% of the
knowledge that Vegapunk had, will not be accessible to her anymore since all the vegapunks
uploaded and accessed their knowledge to that central data-base. That could mean that Lilith
is still a very smart and capable scientist, but without all of the collective knowledge and
memories of the other vegapunks, essentially making her her own unique person for the first
time in her life. And honestly with all the machine vs human symbolism going on in egghead,
you know with Kuma and Kizaru and so on, Lilith, an aritifical being that’s part of a hive mind,
becoming her own real human by joining Luffy, would in a strange way feel very fitting. As
always, I’m really careful to get my hopes up, since Oda has burned us more times than i
can count with hopes for a new straw hat, but suffice to say, I would be more than excited
to welcome Lilith to the crew from hereon out. Which now brings me to maybe the
biggest reveal of this chapter somehow, the fact that Professor Clover’s full name is
actually Cleev D. Clover, which first of all, EPIC name bro. Props. But second is of course an
absolutely massive reveal, that as we will see might have massive implications for Robin as well.
Also of course the guy who found out most about the void century and worked against the celestial
dragons was a D. Now, what does Cleev here even mean because the spelling is definitely making me
dizzy. The japanese original reads actually Kurau, which when you google it seems to be japanese
reading of the irish word Cleeve, which apparently is how you pronounce it, but im not exactly
confident that I nailed it here, if you get me. Not Cleeve Sulas is a magical light sword from
irish mythology which according to my good ol’ friend from my highschool years, Wikipedia, seems
to appear commonly as a quest object of a hero seeking "The One Story”. And while i honestly was
somewhat sceptical at first if this was actually the inspiration that Oda drew from, once i read
that sentence it was jackpot. Because what better way to describe Clover than as a man who dedicated
his life to seeking the one story, the lost story of the world, the forbidden history. Also the
sword of light does seem interestingly relevant when we talk about the D. clan, the void century
and the literal SUN god and joy boy, but thats something i’m saving for another big D clan theory
i’m cooking together right now. So instead I want to take this in a slightly different direction.
because the first thing i thought when i read Clovers real name, was that Robin, might then
ALSO be a D. Clan member. Nico D. Robin. Now, of course, just like you i then immediately also
thought: Oh, clover isn’t really related to Robin, so that makes no sense. Except it actually DOES
make sense. And it might prove that Robin could be the daughter of either Gol. D. Roger OR
of Monkey D. Dragon, making her Luffy’s older sister either directly or indirectly through ace.
And the first thing pointing into that direction, even if simple, is that Robin was born and raised
ON Ohara, the island with the oldest known thing in one piece as the tree of knowledge growing
on the island is over 5000 years old, 4000 years older than the void century. And since Clover
seems to be a native from that island, speculating that more families than just 1 on this
ancient island were part of the D clan, meaning that the Nico family could be a D clan
member as well. And actually the name Nico in itself might be the next clue here. After all Nico
comes from the greek word Niké, i actually had to take ancient greek for 3 years in high school,
and niké means victory, with names like Nico or nicholas usually being translated as ‘victory
of the people’. Which AGAIN, could this be any more fitting to Robin, who is THE thorn in the
eye of the world government that tyrannizes the people of the world? But also that ancient greek
name seems to be a very similar style to clovers ancient Irish name or even the ancient egyptian
name Nefatari. So just based on its meaning alone, i think the Nico family would make a fantastic D
family, looking at the 2 known members, Robin and her mother Olvia. But how does this connect to
Roger or Dragon? Well actually Olvia is the key here. Let’s take a quick look at the one piece
time-line shall we? In the current storyline, leaving egghead island, Robin is 30 years old.
That means that when we met her on Albasta she was 28 before the time-skip. Now we do know, that the
Ohara incident took place 22 years prior to that, meaning that Robin was 8 years old when the Buster
call happened and clover and olvia were killed and ALSO when Olvia returned from her 6 year
expedition finding and studying the poneglpyhs. Now 2 years before that, Roger was executed in
Logue Town, Robin being 6 years old. And a year before that, Robin being 5, Oden returns to wano
after reaching Laugh Tale. The year before THAT, Roger first meets Oden during his duel with
Whitebeard, he holds up baby Hiyori and says that it’s been a while since he held a baby, at
which point Robin is now 4 years old. Now, he could be talking about shanks, who is a teenager
at this point, but since Hiyori is a baby girl, 4 years since holding Robin WOULD very much fit
into the timeline here. Going back another 2 years and a 2 Year old Robin, this is the year
that Olvia leaves Ohara to go on her mission. It’s also the very same year that Roger finds out
about his terminal illness and decides to enter the grand line once again to fulfill his dream of
finding the final island of the grandline. Very interesting timing on that. Everything here lines
up pretty nicely so far, but we need to do a lot more work here. Our next piece of evidence comes
from the fact, that we know that Olvia set out on her mission to study the poneglyphs to honor the
wishes of her husband slash robin’s father. Again, with Roger setting out to find Laugh tale that
very same year, Olvia setting out to find and study the stones FOR him would make a lot of sense
i think. And when she returns 6 years later after gettin captured and the other archeologists with
her being killed, Professor clover apologises to her for sending her on such a dangerous mission.
Meaning that Clover and Robin’s father were the main drivers behind the expedition in the first
place. On top of that, Robin has pitch black hair, despite her mother literally having the exact
opposte hair color, snow white. That basically guarantees that Robins father had black hair and
some pretty strong genes as well to completely cancel out Olvia. I think the strong genes of a
D clan member would explain that feature as well. Now, is it possible that Clover knew Roger?
Given all that we know about the two, I think noone would be surprised if they worked together
for some time learning about the past and maybe even inspiring Roger to look for laugh tale. And
we do know that Roger was a man eager to spread his genes, later on also fathering ace. So Robin
being Roger’s secret daughter seems to be a much more legitimate looking theory with this newest
revelation about Clover. However the other black haired D clan member, who we know for a FACT was
friends with Vegapunk, is of course none other than Luffy’s father monkey d. dragon. Olvia
dating the former marine who had just founded the freedom fighters that would later turn into
the revolutionary army would also make a TON of sense. In fact Dragon came with flowers to Ohara
after the buster call and we really dont know who exactly they were for. Clover? Possible. His wife
and daughter? Even more possible. Im gonna be a bit sexist here, but a hard-boiled matcho-guy
like Dragon bringing flowers somehow seems more likely for his own family than a friend of his.
After all he must have lost a lot of friends at this point in time. But what maybe sells this idea
even MORE is that Kuma, Dragon’s right hand man, made sure to send Robin to none other than
Dragon and the Revolutionary army. Which again, would just be such a fantastic move by Oda, if
this was actually a father-daughter re-union and not just the revolutionary army taking an
interest in her skills and knowledge. Now, of course that would in turn ALSO mean, that Robin is
Luffy’s older sister, well half sister, since Nico Olvia died during the Ohara incident. Now I know
that some people will really dislike this idea, but me personally, if we found out that Robin
was a D and got saved but her younger brother, I think that would be some of the most
heartwarming and well-crafted writing in the entire story. But that may just be me.
Let me know what you think in the comments. In the meantime, let’s go from the biggest
explosion in one piece so far, Ohara, to what is most likely going to be the NEW biggest explosion
in the story, as Emeth, the ancient iron giant, seems to be preparing some type of last-resort,
self-destruction, ultimate attack thing, in an attempt to take out the Gorosei with him
and protect the new Joy Boy. - also maybe Luffy now finally understands that he’s joy boy, but
then again maybe not - The reason i say this, is that so far, none of Vegapunks labs have
survived without some massive destruction so far. Whether it’s his built in self-destruct button or
2 admirals destroying the entire island, Vegpaunk labs have a tendency to blow up. So why would
Egghead be any different. Clearly Emmeth is on his last legs here and has been saving some sort
of ace up his sleeve for a moment like this. So my prediction would be, as it has been all along,
that Egghead island will be completely blown up with all the Gorosei still on the island. The
big question of course being: Would that actually DO anything? After all Atlas literally did a mini
version of exactly this earlier in the chapter and Nasjuro regenerated his face, and by the way also
his brain, in an instant, which honestly is just next level scary and unkillable. But does the Iron
giant have some power that can actually hurt the Gorosei? Him cutting of one of their tusks does
seem to suggest that. So the Gorosei may be in for a real surprise here. But then again, it would be
very surprising and honestly a bit disappointing if the Gorosei were to just straight up die right
here after all the hype stuff they have shown us, so i would guess that even if Emmeth decimates
the entire island, i think the Gorosei will make it out of this alive. And it looks like after
that, we will be finally heading to the next island or maybe, even islands, as the straw
hats might be splitting up into different factions here. And if you want to know where
i think what group will go next, you can watch that prediction video right here. Thanks so much
for watching, and ill see you in the next one.
