Libero Tracking in Volleyball

Overview

  • Simple and informal process for tracking liberos during a volleyball game.
  • Track team lineups, substitutions, and libero entries/exits.
  • Focus on maintaining accurate records throughout the game.

Initial Setup

  • Left Side Team: Write the lineup on the left side of the sheet.
  • Right Side Team: Write the lineup on the right side of the sheet.
  • Lineup Entries:
    • Write player's numbers (1 to 6) and libero as 7.
    • If only one libero, mark an 'X' in the second libero box.

Tracking Details

  • **Captain Identification: **
    • Mark the team captain with a 'C' if necessary.
  • Substitutions:
    • When a player subs out, cross their number and write the new player's number.
    • Example: If 2 is subbed by 8, cross out 2 and write 8.
  • Libero Tracking:
    • Write 'L' when a libero enters the court for a player.
    • Example: If libero goes in for 4, write 'L'.
    • When the player returns, write back the player's number.
    • Example: When 4 returns, erase 'L' and write 4 again.

Double Libero Situations

  • Multiple Liberos: If teams use two liberos, track using 'L' and 'R'.
    • Example: Libero 8 as 'L' and libero 10 as 'R'.
    • Ensure only one libero is on the court at a time.
  • Error Check: Notify officials if both 'L' and 'R' are on the court simultaneously; itโ€™s illegal.

Example Scenarios

  • Basic Libero Entry/Exit:
    • Libero enters for 6, write 'L'.
    • Sub occurs, 2 out and 11 in, cross 2 and write 11.
  • Double Libero Entry:
    • Libero (L) enters for 4, second libero (R) enters for another player.
    • Track carefully to avoid both liberos being on the court.

Final Notes

  • Consistenly monitor subs and libera movements.
  • Maintain records accurately throughout the game.
