Critical Analysis of India's Infrastructure Projects under Modi Government

water is leaking from Ram Mandir roof water on Ram Path there are problems for guests, water was leaking in the first rain, devotees will stop coming It seems that Bhagwan Shri Ram is very angry with the government. First, people were oppressed by force in his name, then attempt to divide the country by insulting Hinduism. In 2024 election government tried to get full majority in the name of Lord Ram But Ayodhya people gave a befitting reply and now it seems the said development is being exposed Despite priests and Shankaracharya against it, Narendra Modi did pran pratishtha in incomplete temple Thinking that elections are coming up, there will be an advantage. But it has not even been 6 months since the pran pratishtha that the problem of leakage has arisen in the temple from the first drops of rain. Donation of crores, construction under the supervision of the Prime Minister's office and this is what is seen. Either there is serious flaw in the construction, it was done in a hurry due to elections or Bhagwaan shri Ram is angry This does not look good in any case And Rampath which was built by demolishing thousands of houses, shops and dreams is also stuck in different places. Monsoon has not even come properly in Ayodhya, then this is the situation the construction on which basis dream of 400+ was seen Actually, I am not talking about Ayodhya today. Such news is coming from all over the country. The new Atal Setu, which was inaugurated recently, has already started to have cracks in its approach road The seepage of the Mumbai's undersea coastal tunnel is in a bad shape. BMC says all is well. Pragati maidan tunnel in Delhi needed serious repairs in 2 yrs. Uttarakhand is a story of its own. Collapse in Joshimath, Silkyara tunnel, or building dam without understanding hydrology. Bihar - In a week, three under-construction bridges have collapsed. Many of them are moving towards ICU within two years of their inauguration. This is a matter of concern for our country for three reasons. First, in the last 10 years, the Modi government has given top priority to infrastructure There is no talk of Make in India, but in every speech they say that the government has changed the definition of infrastructure Roads, railways, ports, airports, hospitals. But how much is true? How much is politics? We need to understand this The government has invested a lot of money in the infrastructure development. Like 11 lakh crore rupees in the interim budget. This is 6 times more than any previous government's record. BJP has talked about building 5000 km railway track and 15000 km access controlled highway in the manifesto. But where has this money come from? And the money that is being invested in infrastructure, is it taken from fields like health, education, research? What is the hidden cost of infrastructure? 3. Is the infrastructure being built with a plan? Who will use the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train? Or is the infrastructure being built for show? for elections? The aim of infrastructure is to increase investment, establish factories, create jobs, and have FDI. But this is not happening. In fact, FDI is falling at record levels. We can see job creation from infrastructure projects. Let's understand why this is happening and what reforms are needed in today's episode. [subscribe and press bell icon] Before we start, let's clear one thing. Just like Make in India was a good idea, just like GST is a good idea, similarly, to develop the country, money has to be invested in infrastructure. Otherwise, the economic wheels of the country will remain stuck in the mud. The only question is, how is the implementation of infrastructure projects With what intention is it being carried out? And where are the expenses being spent? What is being hidden in this shining story? Modi government's biggest achievement is highways. In 2014-15, highways were 12 km per day. In 2020-21, highways are 30 km per day. Since 2014 - 55,000 km highways built This is a growth story. Modi 3.0 will also have infrastructure push. But there is another side to it These highways are built on farmers' land. So, there is a problem with compensation And NHAI has spent a lot of money on this. NHAI condition is so tight that the government has not allowed it to take more money from market We see only the highways but no one sees the loan to build them. RTI has revealed that NHAI will take 25 years to pay debt, that is 2050 There is debate on how many highways are really built Earlier, a highway was 1 km long 4 lane or 6 lane Now, every lane is calculated using the extra 2AB formula. So, if a highway is 6 lanes, then 1 km is counted as a 6 km highway since there are 6 lanes And even after doing so much, the condition of the roads is such that between 2018 and 2020, 5000 people have died due to potholes. So quality is a very big concern because the focus has only been to keep making at a fast pace But work has been done on the roads, the railways on other hand have just remained jumla In 2019, BJP promised railway electrification and to build a dedicated freight corridor project by 2022. Neither happened. Ashwini Vaishnaw said on question of electrification that there is no idea and as far as freight corridor is concerned, eastern leg is complete, rest is unclear Railway safety, kavach program, the less we talk about this the better. Despite allocation there was no focus The result is that in a few months, we see that the train has come off the track, collided and several people died The government says that it is a pilot error... Will not admit their mistake. never paid attention to safety. It will be difficult to admit this. Actually, where is the time for safety? Attention is on showpiece projects. Who will pay attention to daily things? Where will we get headlines? Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail corridor World's highest railway bridge on Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir. Vande Bharat trains shown the green flag But because of the headlines, the Indian railways is in the worst condition in its history. Train ticket prices are up, senior citizen concession is gone, railway safety is in the worst condition. But, in 2021-2022, the operating ratio was 107.39% - lowest in the history of India. If the railways have spent Rs.107 in a year, they have earned only Rs.100. The rest of the loss is taken care of by taxpayers. Your soul is at peace when you watch the fast-forward video of Vande Bharat and say, Wow! But in reality, this train runs at a speed of 60-90 kmph, not 120-130 kmph And now, AC and food problem have started The trains are reduced for the rest of the population. The public is traveling by entering the toilets or hanging in the air. Now, when such videos go viral, the government says that it is a conspiracy. It is a conspiracy of George Soros to defame the country. Not only the rail, but the airports and ports can be considered a success story for the government. In our country, the world's third largest aviation market is found today. So many people are eager to travel in the air and for that, it takes a lot of airports and aircrafts. In 2016, the government launched Udan or Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik focus to leave the metro regions and increase regional connectivity. And small airports to be made viable In 2014, there were 74 airports for civilian flights. Today, the number is around 150 And 20 greenfield airports are also being built. This is a good effort. But the fact is that in the 2023 report of CAG, that after the concession period given by the government, this special project, only 7% flight routes will be sustainable The rest will be shut down again. So, this is a net zero game Headlines have been collected, but in the end, the passengers will not get those facilities soon The country has also progressed in the matter of ports. Our ports can load and unload goods quickly today. They are moving towards international standards. The aim is to make 2600 MTPA, Million Tonnes per Annum, handling capacity into 10,000 MPTA by 2047. Now, it is a different thing that in the growth of ports and airports, one businessman has benefited the most. Through Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, Gautam Adani's Adani Group has controlled 27% of the country's cargo volume handle control. Adani has become the largest airport and port operator in the country. How did it become the largest airport operator? It can be a Netflix series And what is the condition of the passengers? What is the condition of the airports? What are the prices of airline tickets? Flight cancellations, flight delays. If we talk about that, the episode will become very long But if there was a slight discomfort, it would have been fine. Soldiers are at Siachen and we can't afford any discomfort ? But the problem is the loss of trade. In our country, the infrastructure is being improved. Good thing. But how much is being spent? It is important to be aware of this. Because the money is of the taxpayer ... 458 projects have cost over 5.71 lakh crores. This amount nearing 6 lakh crores is very big started so many projects, you have cut so many fees, you have collected so many headlines But you have not been able to keep track of the quality and expenses. And this is not the figure of Soros funded World Bank. This is from Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, MOSPI. They also say that there are 127 such projects whose delay is more than 60 months or up to 60 months. And the second thing that is hidden This much money spent on infrastructure, on which votes are garnered, it must come out of somewhere The government has spent less money on areas where headline is not easily available. Like education, R&D and healthcare. In 2014, BJP said that they will make 6% of GDP on education so that the next generation can become educated. But from 2014 to 2024, 0.44% of annual GDP has been spent on education. Even before that, Manmohan Singh's track record is not that good. Average spend of 0.61% of GDP on education between 2004 and 2014 In simple words, if you spend so little on education, then kids will be WhatsApp University graduates. Not job ready, not industry ready, and forget about aware, questioning citizens. What is the Constitution? What are the civil rights? Don't know Now, roads have become better. Let's accept that. But there is no money to drive an ambulance in an emergency. That's why, dirty motorcycles and rickshaws. Healthcare plays an important role in public welfare. It is the responsibility of the government. But according to a report by Lancet, the fact is that the government is spending 1.2% of GDP on healthcare, which is the lowest in G20 countries. The government strongly denied this report and said that by 2025, we will make public investment in healthcare 2.5% of GDP. But the truth is that even after the COVID pandemic, no significant investment was made in healthcare There are talks of making 16 AIIMS, but in reality, no one sees how fully functional they have become So, roads have been built, no doubt about it, no debate about it. But schools and hospitals have not been built. For some people, this is good. For some people they see how hollow it is. It takes time to get political benefit from schools and hospitals. Maybe that's why the focus is on roads and ports. Because shining roads and buildings can be shown and votes can be asked. But the saddest thing that can be found out by doing research is that money is being reduced in R&D. Look at the chart Other countries are investing heavily in R&D and research and development. And we are reducing our budget. This is the most illiterate and foolish act of our government. Our country is known for IT. For AI, it is said that manpower is ready in our country. But it seems that the government wants us to be the back office, call centre, hub of the world. And soon AI will take over this job. Not enough done in cutting-edge research in our country 0.7% of GDP is less than any BRICS nation. Our investment in R&D is 5% less than South Korea and Israel Finally, when you pay toll on the highway, remember that you are playing an important role in paying off the debt of our country. The public debt of our country has reached 80% of GDP. This is called debt to GDP ratio. And if we talk about IMF, it can also be 100% of GDP. if you take the example of NHAI, then 25% of its total budgetary allocation goes to paying off the EMI. Same condition of government. And it will be difficult to take more money. The solution is to use the existing infrastructure to its potential. Like FDI, factories, use of roads, domestic investment. And the government should get the money back. This is the basic mantra of investing in infrastructure. This is possible. But then the government will have to focus on work only. Mutton, Mughal, Masjid, Mujra, Mangal, Sutra - Leave all this, and focus on manufacturing, make in India, MNC in India, microprocessor plant in India Then this is possible. There is no doubt our country needs infrastructure projects And no debate the Modi government used it for political benefit For example, in the first three months of 2024, the Modi government inaugurated 11 lakh crore projects just before the elections Come on, you won the elections. You didn't cross 400, but you came back to power. Can we focus on work now? And if possible, with infrastructure, then focus on education, health care, R&D, social harmony. This will increase the investment. And if this is a little more than my expectation, then what can I say? What do you think? What should the government focus on in the next 5 years?
