Understanding and Practicing GTO Poker

hello everyone I'm Jonathan little today we are going to be discussing how to play GTO poker very very excited present this webinar to you we're going to be going through a few aspects of our brand new program Peak GTO it just came out the early bird sale actually ends today if you're hearing this you better hurry you have about 12 hours left assuming you're watching it on time if you're late well check it out at Peak gto.com we will see what we can do for you GTO poker stands for Game Theory optimal poker it is an amazing but complex Baseline strategy that makes you unexploitable to play against what does that mean that means that when your opponents make mistakes you benefit if your opponent plays perfectly against you and you play perfectly against them you both lose the rake because you're both playing perfectly but if you play perfectly and your opponent does not you make money no matter what your opponent does wrong that is very very powerful however it is impossible for us mere humans to play Perfect GTO poker because it's difficult here I have a quote poker coaching coach extraordinaire Justin CBA there he says there's a reason why so many players feel like they become worse at poker after studying solver outputs it's because they're studying bad data with bad habits and using it as a crutch to make themselves feel better about their mistakes the goal of peak GTO is to use good data and to help bridge the gap between Theory and execution drilling important spots getting immediate feedback and focusing on the right things within the data can help you become a better poker player every day and that's the process it takes to become great that is how I study is how many of the top Pros study Peak GTO was made by these poker Pros here we have Chris Brock Wilson myself Justin SBA and David Peters using the data that they are using to crush the biggest B tournaments and cash games and I'm excited to be able to bring it here to you so what are the right things that you need to be focusing on well the fundamentals are vitally important such as Bluff to Value ratios for example flop you usually get to have way more Bluffs than on the river when you bet bigger on the river you get to have way more Bluffs than when you bet smaller etc etc also who has the range Advantage whose range is just generally f favored over the other player when you're generally favored over the other player you get to bet more often when you're not you have to check more often next who has the nut Advantage who has more effective nuts in their range next range connectivity how well does the opponent's range actually connect with the board they have a lot of pairs and draws and whatnot when they do you typically want to bet bigger you want to make sure you're taking advantage of fold equity and many many many other fundamentals we discussed the fundamentals thoroughly in pokercoaching.com we have a tournament and cash game master class there as well as many Advanced courses that discuss all of these topics do have videos on BET sizing yes check out the tournament Andor cash game masterclass on pokercoaching.com a large chunk of it discusses when to bet and how much and all of these concepts are derived from GTO principles you want to make a point to learn as many GTO mechanics as possible such as when to bet frequently and what size you should bet that is super duper important also when you are making a point to learn new strategies you want to slowly integrate them into your game a lot of people try to learn too many things too quickly or they try to study too many spots just like every single spot available and that results in them either being overwhelmed or just generally not going deep enough to actually thoroughly learn how to get good at the game you need need to stop trying to memorize GTO solver outputs and instead focus on actually learning why the solver does what it does and if you consistently drill yourself on spots over and over and over and over again you'll get pretty good at them pretty quickly we have a GTO trainer and drill system at pokercoaching.com I'll show it to you in just a bit and in Peak gto.com that will help you improve your skills substantially first let's discuss understanding mixed frequency and frequencies in GTO poker here we have a scenario where the cut off raises and we are on the button 40 big blinds deep the hands in red want to rease the hands in green want to call assuming the opponent plays good strong GTO poker now you have to realize that when pre- flop and post flop strategies have mixed frequencies all these hands that are re raising some and calling some the EV of these decisions is practically equal and more than one option should be used you mix it up right that said the inputs are very sensitive so you always want to think about which option will be best for your exact scenario against your exact opponent for example take a look at this GTO chart how would you adjust this against a player who is too loose and splashy say they raise a little bit too wide pre- flop and say they call three bets a a little bit too often pre-f flop how would you adjust against someone who did that take a second think about it type it in the comment section thanks to all of you for being here by the way while you're down there typing click the like And subscribe button click the notification Bell well essentially if your opponents are going to be re raising I'm sorry if they're going to be calling your re raises too often you're going to want to three bet more linearly Faraday nailed it you're going to want to take can like Ace Queen offit Ace jack off suit Ace Jack suited king queen tens nines eights maybe even wider Ace 10 suited King Jack suited Ace 10 off suit King jack off suit Etc and you're going to want to be three betting those more often now Vidar said raise larger and that actually could be a reasonable answer if your opponent will call too often regardless of the size some people will tighten up based on a bigger re Ray size some will not what you should also do is you should probably stop three bet bluffing so often cuz all these hands that are three bet bluffing are actually decent to call and see the Flop I mean notice all the hands in red for the most part that are not the best hands do call a large chunk of the time so you may want to call those instead and three betat with a different strong linear range or something like Sev and better maybe Ace 10 suited and better King Jack suited and better Ace jack off suit and better and king queen off suit that's going to be a good strong Play Because when they do call your three bet they're going to be very very dominated that is very very good for you what would you do against someone who overfolded as three bet Bluffs can be three bet bluffed even more but you can also three bet wider with stuff like Ace eight offit King n offsuit Queen n offsuit Jack n offsuit 10 n offit all of these hands may become very profitable Bluffs against your particular opponent if they fold too often to three bets or if they call too often and then check and fold too often on the Flop what do you think about three betting to a smaller size because many players have timing tells I don't know what sizing has to do with timing now if you think that your opponent's small raise size indicates weakness or something like that then maybe I I don't I I don't know why sizing and timing go together necessarily you have to realize that some people have very very clear timing tells maybe they wait 10 seconds before they raise and they have nothing and they raise immediately with their good hands or maybe they do the opposite if you can find people who do make that mistake you certainly should take advantage of them if you know your opponent's range is weak for any reason you should attack it with aggression but notice we're not just just trying to play this strategy I'm not saying look at the GTO chart and do what the GTO chart says all the time obviously you need to make a point to adjust your strategy to take advantage of what your opponent's doing correctly never let mixed frequencies which is very often what the solver will give you be an excuse for not thinking critically about every spot that you play a lot of players load up a GTO solver they see that they could make a play some portion of the time and that is used as a crutch by them for them to punt off 40 big blinds with a computer hand a spot that says oh you got to call your hand's too good but that's not a good play if your opponent for example will never three betat Bluff before the Flop if they never three bet Bluff before the Flop don't forbat all in nearly as often with your garbage right realize that solver outputs are very sensitive and that's why it's great to use them as a baseline but you have to think you have to constantly consider how to deviate from the GTO strategy while still using good strong Game Theory principles to guide your deviations so what I want to do is I want to go through a drill of the day every day on Peak GTO we upload a new drill we're going to load up one of these I have not watched this yet it's by poker coaching coach extraordinaire Justin SBA we are going to see what he does in this spot hopefully it's not too loud hopefully it works building turn probe strategies here we go all right we have a two big blind Rays 25 big blinds Deep Falls to us with 53 suited in the big blind what do we do feel free to follow along type it in the comment section do whatever you want follow along up here too notice hijack is the villain they race the two big blinds folds around the hero and the big blind this is an easy call now plop comes 10 74 check 99% of the time checks it back turn is a two what do we do tough spot already when it goes check check do we bet small medium or big or check or check I had to guess we're probably going to mix it up I don't even know the right answer here poker's hard you got to realize poker's hard I presume we're going to bet either 1.4 or 3.3 I'm going to go with 3.3 but I could certainly be wrong 2.4% looks like we need to go even bigger all right another fun fun turn probe strategy spot so yesterday we talked about a spot that was so bad for us in the Flop that we can't really develop uh turn bets um but the 1074 flop is much more marginal for us than something like an ace Jack Ace Jack X right so now we get to develop turn bets so there's there's two real keys to building turn probe strategies how good is the flop for you and how good is the turn for you so this flop is like quite marginal um for both players um it's still a solid Advantage for the hijack player but it's not it's not the worst board in the deck for us uh and the two is a total brick so the two does not change anything and so when we have like a mediocre uh flop for us and then a brick on the turn we really don't have that much incentive to build any small bets here um our small bets are going to be on turns that are quite good for us where we end up having an equity advantage on the turn and we go for smaller bets so say like a a six or a five an eight cards that really interact with our range and give us a lot of a lot of uh great hands make sense to play like two sizes where we're going to have some big bets and some smaller bets uh built around single pair hands but on the dece turn we really just have incentive to play a polarized turn strategy using a pot siiz bet and check um building our taking our best value hands and and going for that potsize bet and then when we're choosing our Bluffs in the spot the real key in these in these turn probe notes is that we have to focus on having Equity because when we pop the turn with no equity hands we're playing out of position we're going to be in really really tough River spots to develop robust ranges so the real key here is to find hands with Equity this 53 suited is an absolutely Prime candidate and Ace is obviously just an amazing card for us it's going to um River the opponent to plenty of top pair type hands and and we're going to cooler them as well as we have the six um that gives us a straight as well so double gutter here five high wonderful incentives to go for a bet and plenty of equity against this continuing range let's go for that pot siiz bet and uh build a nice turn or river strategy if he continues so notice I would have got this a little bit wrong Justin wants to pot it I would have made something like 75% pot but that's good to know right at least I was already thinking on kind of the right track and as long as you are choosing the right option or close to the right option more often than you are going to be way ahead of your opponents I know a lot of you in the chat said bet tiny or check and that that's just definitely not the right play we see 53 suited here is either betting 3.3 big blinds or slightly off your screen let's 3.3 big blinds or 5.5 big BLS that's the size we're using sorry it's slightly off the screen I'll figure out way to do that so good now we click continue now here's the river the river is the eight of Hearts what do we do now here's the pot 16.5 big blinds here's our stack 17.5 now the question becomes what do we do Dan says he hates it in other solvers where they give you a bunch of options they give you a wrong answer if you get it slightly off I agree that's not how you should be studying like right here if I said 3.3 instead of 5.5 yeah not quite perfect I just learned from what Justin said given it does go check check on the turn and you know both have a lot of medium stuff we do need to be polarized when we bet what do we do here tell you I don't know I'd probably be all end so spots like this you want to block whatever the nuts are what are the nuts the nuts are Jack n 96 65 so those are the nuts um problem is we bet kind of big on the turns we're can get called a lot by good stuff I think it's probably okay to jam this just because we have like literal no equity but at the same time but at the same time might just find a call anything I don't know I'm going to be all in here but it could be wrong oh 85% all in good so we get the eight of spades on the river and the first thing we need to think about is how good is the card for overall range and if we think about how the eight interacts with our with our overall range it's an exceptionally good River card for us we rivered offsuit Straits offsuit two pairs we have massive asymmetries with the opponent in in multiple portions of our range way more single pair hands um less just random High cards that that reach here and so the eight being such a good card for us that's going to tell us how aggressive we can be here and when you get a river that's quite good for you your betting frequency your River aggression frequency should be exceptionally high and when that's the case we get to Bluff at a very high clip so I think that a river like this leads us to having two pretty clear strategies one very large size pushing that asymmetry in the top end of our range saying hey we have more straights than you we have more great two pairs than you we want to go for a big size with those hands and then a block size and that's going to be buils around our single pair hands like a seven and eight um hands that are still worth some amount of value but aren't worth uh super large amounts of value and when we are building a two size strategy and we have a hand like 53 here we need to think about okay how does this Bluff fit into our range which which Bluff size should we go with here so we already know we want to be aggressive on this River so we need to be bluffing a hand like 53 um but which which size do we choose and the thing is that blocking here and going for a Allin size are both profitable but the all-in size is going to be more profitable than the than the block size and when we're deciding what what what size to choose with our Bluffs here on the river the way that I think about it is that the better blockers you have the the more unblocking of folds your hand does the more it can go for a huge but bet size so if you have a hand like uh king queen here on the river if you have king queen High you don't have very good blockers we're we want him to fold Ace King off Ace Queen off um some of those King and and and queen type hands high card hands on the river and we're blocking those and so when we have bad uh characteristics like king queen I'm always going to fit that into my smaller block size and then like a hand like 53 it's it just has quite good properties even though you block a couple of fors with the ace3 ace5 maybe a little bit of pocket fives overall we're unblocking all the high cards that we're that we're expecting to fold and so it's going to fit I would consider a good bluff candidate when it's a good bluff candidate I'm going to fit it into my largest bet size when it's a mediocre or somewhat bad Bluff candidate like that king queen off uh I'm going to block that hand on the river and just try to Target just a few hands um that that are better than mine to fold so eight of spades Great River card for us High aggressive aggression frequency we have two sizes to kind of choose from when we Bluff the 53 right when we put it into the category of okay I think this has good properties as a bluff let's pick that larger size and go for the all-in bluff here and uh just hope the hope the opponent finds the snap forward in the river yeah so very important Point here is that the opponent well our look look at our range here right our range is so good let's see if this will take this over study this spot some of you are asking questions with any luck this will function properly I'm streaming it screws up the internet sometimes but hopefully it'll work all right let's try this again because I decided to put this over here let's click on 20 big blinds in this hand the hijack raised PS around us we call with our 53 suited as you see we call our 53 suited every time flop comes slow over here slow over here4 check check turns to two what I want to look at is right here after it goes check check I want to see what we need to be betting big with so notice and this is a spot that I initially said I would have bet 3.3 notice 3.3 is US sum right but the bigger bet size is preferred so say we do bet big so a lot of you are saying saying like what is the opponent going to call our turn Bets with they will then fold to a river shove that's what some of you were thinking but notice the opponent should be calling the turn with like ace high right notice Ace King Ace queen king queen even they have to float the Flop pretty or float the turn pretty often ace5 ace four ace3 ace2 H7 right jack eight they're going to be calling the turn a lot so they call then the river's an eight and on the river eight we need to be jamming a ton simply need to be jamming a ton so when we go all in a lot of people are looking and saying well what are they going to fold and look they're folding all ace high King High if they have it notice Ace Jack finds a hero call do you think your opponents are finding a hero call in the real world I would say probably not notice ace9 suited calls if they have it most people don't do that Ace five folds of course ace4 do you think your opponent are just going to call it off with the ace four probably not in my experience this is a spot where I think if anything most people are going to [Music] overfolded now in this spot if the GTO solver said that they should only call with like top pair and better well I think they're going to call more than that so that should make me less often than the GT strategy recommends right but this is a spot where if anything I think people are going to fold a little bit too often so we're going to be more inclined to jam Faraday is trying to get bogged down on Tiny percentage differences between one suit or the other don't get too bogged down in that typically it has to do with which flush draws the opponent could have on the Flop or backd door flush draws they could have on the Flop not going to get bog down on that today how big is the difference between multi-table tournament and sit and go strategy very different they're different games and sit goes you need to get in the top 30% of the field multi-table tournaments you need to get in the top 1% of the field it's very very different so this is a spot where if anything we need to overbluff so everybody who's sat on the river you don't have anything you should check probably are making a pretty big mistake because notice the 5-3 is going for it every single time okay 63 is going for it as well these two Bluffs down here the nut low are going for it every single time and if you're not you're screwing up and I don't want you to screw up I want you to learn let's see I was told there another drill of the day this good let's go through another drill of the day this one will be by me number 12 playing marginal hands from out of position oh boy here we go cash hand all right fold dra on to us in the low seat we have 10 n suited 100 big blinds deep of course we're going to raise suited is the nuts 100 big blinds deep button calls we're out of position what do you want to do pair plus back door flush draw plus back door straight draw it's like a pretty easy spot to check to me I'm out of position you have to do a lot of checking in general check Rays I do not think so check 64% and today's drill of the day we raise it up with 10 n of clubs playing 100 big blinds deep in a cash game from the lowjack seat the button calls everybody else folds it comes Jack 105 one Club this is a spot where both checking and betting are fine options if you do bet you can go for a small bet and I think that's what I would do a large chunk of the time even though the GTO strategy is to bet 2.2 big blinds only 35% of the time I think most people in general just don't raise often enough and that will allow you to bet very frequently that said this time we are going to check it should be done in GTO World 65% of the time remember from out a position you have to check a lot see what the opponent does okay so notice there I kind of just went through the thought process I would have gone through with all of you I think people don't defend often enough against continuation bets and I think they don't raise often enough against continuation bets therefore for in the real world I would be continuation betting more than GTO recommends that said in GTO world if you have studied at all you know from out of position you have to do a ton of checking so this is a hand that makes a whole lot of sense to check now facing the betat call notice raises happens 4% of the time when we check on this board the opponent should use a large bet the majority of the time this is a relatively Dynamic board and they certainly want lots of protection against our various overcards and draws and they also put a lot of pressure on our hands like 10 n so they go 5.2 big blinds which is going to happen about 40ish per of the time and then our 109 is just a super duper easy call we really do not want to raise very often at all against large bets even from out of position when we're playing deep stacked we're only raising about 7% of the time with most of our raises coming from sets which are C very good King Queen suited a decent chunk of the time King five suited somewhat randomly bottom pair overcard kicker that's a fun one and then just a smattering of random overcards every once in a while plus pocket aces and pocket kings but really not a lot of check raising and to be fair in the real world I may not check raay very often at all against this big bet from the opponent so with 10 n though easy check call let's go to the turn so when you are facing a big bet and you're not anywhere near getting all in as we're not here you typically don't do a whole lot of raising as you see here if the opponent happened to use a smaller size on the Flop we would be way more inclined to raise but not with this type of hand this type of Hand Middle pair just does not raise very often at all right turn we're always going to check a check it back river is a three okay what do we do now pots eight 18 big blinds check we at 4.5 we at 10.7 or we can bet 17.9 pot what do we do with our middle pair take a second think about it type it in the comment section I don't even know what I'm going to do yet in this spot and I made this drill of the day a while back bet six or seven the options are literally right down there at the bottom of the screen do you see them six or seven is not one of the options is this good enough for half pot it's close it's close check in call no no no no no no no checkin call is going to be too weak I think 17's definitely too big it's either 4.5 or 10.7 I think in my mind the like call it s safe SL cautious route is 4.5 but I know GTO pushes a little bit harder than I do in spots like this I think I'm going to go 10.7 might mix ah it does do 4.5 the turn is the two of spades notice checking and they check it back the river is the three of hearts and now we have second pair which is probably good and when it does go check check on the turn very often you can go for thin-ish value and with your hands that are obviously for thin value like second pair no kicker you're going to find that a smaller bet is very often preferred GTO goes uh for bet 80% of the time but 25% of the time total it is going for 4.5 big blinds with a lot of medium strength hands mainly tens pocket nines pocket eights it's also mixing in some super nut hands with pocket 10 which is obviously really good as well as a few Bluffs mainly with king queen so this is a spot where will go small a lot of the time making sure your range does contain um some super nuts that are of course never going to fold this time we go 4.5 and the opponent makes it 18 what should we do notice Ace 10 is good enough to go for the 10.7 big blind bet lots of jacks can go for that size as well so looks like our 109 just like a little bit too weak notice it is mixing again fine so what do we do against this 18 big blind Rays give you a little spiel about the real world here normally when people raise you on the river in the real world they're going to be far too value heavy they just don't Bluff enough they're just going to think you have it the problem though the problem that you will encounter whenever you go tiny on the river is a lot of people will look at this and think this is obviously a weak range and if your opponent is anywhere near decent they are going to try to Bluff you some chunk of the time and notice here we're getting pretty good pot ODS we have to put in 13 try to win what 30 something like that 13 to win 30 is a pretty no way more than that my brain's broken I should put the whole pot together in this thing I guess 13 to win something like 52 that's a really good deal are we going to be good something like 20ish 20 5 is% of the time think versus an old man coffee I didn't say anything about an old man or coffee I don't think I've said any of those words this entire video obviously this is player dependent everyone that's what I'm trying to tell you right here against most people you should probably fold unless they're decent because decent strong players are going to realize this small bet is probably some medium strength hand and they're going to try to blast you out of your seat I know I would so this is a spot where David is saying you need a read you don't have a read in this spot we're playing as a good strong GTO opponent the read is your opponent is going to play perfectly okay assuming you don't have a read that makes your life easy for example if your opponent is a super duper weak tight knit obviously fold if your opponent is an absolute lunatic obviously call if it's very clear that your opponent does something really really wrong then your life becomes easy but your life's not going to be easy when you're playing poker against people who are halfway decent in this spot I'm going to think the Sol is going to find a call I think here I think faray actually nailed it I you probably don't want to have like a random king or queen The Nine's probably not great for us either you probably don't want to have I don't even know I don't know if Spades matter that much look I'm just going to say pot odds and call po odds call call 61% call 30% F just makes all the bluff catch when you do go for a small bet on the river you should expect to get raised a decent chunk of the time by your very good opponents and you need to be looking to Value Rays if we do rays in the spot we are just going to be all in and we are all all in in the spot with pocket 10 which is a set Jack 10 a large chunk of the time which is top two pair and then well pocket fives and then some rather interesting Bluffs by the way notice here I'm not even necessarily thinking about my hand in this spot I'm always starting to build my range from do I want to have R raises what do those look like good strong value hands and Bluffs obviously then I'm thinking what does my calling range want to look like like obviously Kings is going to call every time right because Kings beats value raises whereas like the tens the tens do not really beat value raises so you see down here nines eight sevens are all mixing but in these situations I'm always thinking not just what do I do with my 10 n so many people bet the river get raised and think what do I do with my 10 n but you want to consider the rest of your range because if the rest of your range is really strong just F if the rest of your range is really garbage 10 n cannot fold P says your guess is they have pocket fives they have the GTO range they don't have a particular hand they have the GTO range anyway let's listen with 54 blocking Straits and their sets Ace 10 some portion of the time which is an interesting one and Jack n as well also a pretty interesting one this is a spot where I think it's very very hard to find Bluffs in general I think a lot of people do look at sets in two pair and realize they can rip it in even though they do lose to the ace4 and the 64 which are not very likely um but it's the spot where I think a lot of people don't find all that many Bluffs and I think using logic the 10 is a hand that does make sense to jam with because you block Jack 10 and pocket 10 I don't think I ever would have naturally found the N uh the Jack nine though 10 n also jams a little bit not often about well I say not often but it's actually about 10 to 15% of the time so 109 suited is ripping it all in as a bluff a lot of the time notice here whenever I was I was in the spot making this I was thinking like obviously two pairs shoving right so what Bluffs do I want to have and the answer is you want to block your opponent's calls right so what hands are going to autocall in the opponent's shoes well sets right so that is why you see like Jack n and and 10 N I suppose Ace 10 ripping it in some portion of the time as well as 54 down here blocking ace4 and the set of five so this is a spot where even though I don't think a lot of you thought we were G to get to this River thinking should I be betting tiny with my 109 getting raised and and ripping it in that's where we found ourselves right by studying GTO now you may say my opponent's rais are always way too strong on the river put yourself in their shoes though imagine they do raise you on the river with their Ace Jack or King Jack because you bet tiny on the river they went for value and then you just rip it in their face for a 100 are they going to call I don't know some will some won't now the question then becomes which hand should you call with and essentially when you bet River small and get raised your opponent is Raising wider than only really good hands for value for example Ace 10 and King 10 are value raising some portion of the time so when they raise you can't go around folding a jack so all the Jacks are calling the question becomes do you call with some tens and tens are mixing so when you're playing in game you want to ask yourself will my opponent over Bluff or under Bluff in this situation just to be clear hands they should be bluffing with include some ACE Queen Ace king king queen ace3 Ace five right so they are getting after it a decent chunk of the time if your opponent's not going to take Ace 5 and ace3 and Bluff them they just always going to fold or call then you should be way more inclined to fold your bluff catchers which is basically every 10 if they will find lots of Bluffs though or turn um medium strength made hands into Bluffs like to be fair the ace five and the ace three maybe Ace two if they have it then you definitely want to call so as your opponent is more inclined to find Bluffs you should be more inclined to call but as they are less inclined to find Bluffs you should be more inclined to fold and I would say in General when people raise the river they're usually stronger than normal the problem is that when you do make a small River bet in the spot a lot of people will read that as weak and if they are fighting strong battling players they will go for the bluff Rays with a whole lot of stuff they don't think can beat the medium strength value hands like a bad Jack or a 10 and if that's the case you should be pretty call happy so there are plenty of games where I'm going to call every time here and there's also plenty of games against plenty of opponents where I'm going to fold every time so always account for your opponent's tendencies in the spot but GTO does mix between all three options all in call and fold with calling being the one that's used most often cool stuff so we have lots and lots of drills of the day over there let's see what I want to do now is I want to go through a common scenario where we are going to play around a little bit in the trainer let's play lowjack versus a button 25 big blinds deep notice we have a lot of common spots we have scenar for specific boards common cash game spots tournament spots etc etc etc I in this scenario want to play around with this this is a very very good way to go about training yourself and testing yourself so let's do it we're going to raise it up with a 109 suited we're always going to get action from the button okay these are going to be hard I'm going to get some of these wrong because 25 big blinds from out of position is difficult leave it or not so here we we are we raise it up 109 suited out of position comes 532 do we attempt to Bluff this tell you I don't know poker's hard going to do my best I got to imagine we can bet this one some portion of the time medium Dynamic board ah it likes smaller it's okay small bets fine get jammed we can fold fine good notice though it checks a lot of the time you will know from out of position let's just pull this over here go over here and pull out that last hand just want to show you how often you should be checking in these spots real quick so load up for me please load up for me default it to 100 big blinds again come on program come on program stop defaulting to 100 big blinds here we raise lowjack button calls FS comes 5 through2 okay notice what we're supposed to do here notice a lot of checking now David said check range a lot of people in the spot do check range however you do need to hit the bets and notice in this spot front door and back door flush draws kind of like to bet doesn't the Flop favor the button why yes it does however recognize it's roughly 50/50 so when it's roughly 50/50 we're going to be betting polarized with our best made hands in our draws is 10 n of diamonds a quote unquote draw and I thought it' be mixing I'm trying to take the aggressive route though um and it looks like the smaller size is used probably because there's already nut available on the Flop that the opponent could reasonably have anyway cool stuff right now let's say on the Flop uh Ace 94 we're going to check 88% of the time or bet tiny we check they're going to mix it up they go check check do we bet the turn I don't know Checker bet small let's check it again 90% or bet small fine they check check again we'll probably value bet the river nine river is kind of rough they're going to check it back with some nines but I think we can go for Value probably 3.9 that might be too aggressive or all of these chippy V spots they are currently we will be adding ICM spots soon it looks like it wants to go 1.6 I would have gone a little bit too big I would have been greedy and I rip it in my face as punishment now again what do we want to have here what do we want to block we want to block nines right so what hands have a nine take a look at this over here right if we go back to the opponent's pre- flop range we want to block their nines is there a particular card that blocks the nines notice Kings does notice the ace is already blocked weird spot interesting spot here right unblock all the value think they're jamming a random Ace like right here I think our King kicker is actually kind of relevant our Kings block King nine right it'd be nice if they had like King n offit or something but notice here they don't have a whole lot of nines I don't know I suppose fold's right answer but I would not be shocked if this call some portion of the time it is fold every time what I want to know is what do we call with looks like this 25 B bler may be defaulting to 100 no it's going to work this time that's good what do we call with when we bet the river and get jamed you can click right here to show full cells looks like just some ASX so it looks like um we just don't have to call very often because they made it so big right on the river say we did bet small actually I want to look at two different things say we do bet 3.9 what are they jamming you can click here to see the hands they're shoving all the nines some Bluffs here Bluffs here here cool cool you're having any issues with peaks in an email support pokercoaching.com what if we bet 1.6 notice they should still Jam roughly the same range right if they do Jam Kings is GNA do a little bit of mixing between calling and folding against a 3.9 when they Jam we just fold because our range is stronger when we bet bigger okay makes sense I'm always trying to find hero calls in the real world just fold raise they Jam us we fold of course raise again A7 suited call king queen eight horrible flop we are going to have a lot of good stuff on this in general but I think here we just have to give up oh look it doesn't want to bet small that's fun I guess this is so bad we can bet and we have so many good hands that we can bet do we Bluff turn I got to presume we'd rather have a draw but I wouldn't be shocked if they want to bet all right it wants to bet again sometimes all right check check check check still check now it wants to Bluff the river so I would have played this one way too passively let take a look at this one these are spots that are really hard to find because you're out of position so you bet all that often to begin with but then also you just have a really crap hand the thing is when the king is on the Flop the ace becomes the reasonable Bluff candidate so if we come over here notice it does want us to bet very often on this board just because notice we have all the good high cards right and I knew that I got that I was thinking that the A7 might just be like notice A7 A6 and A5 are just doing a whole lot of checking so I guess I'm kind of in that vicinity but we should just bet more often so it does go check check though on the turn wants us to bet a lot again just with our total trash hand then on the river wants us to bet again just because we don't have very much garbage at this point cool I would have played that one too passively king8 suited raise it up a lot of people don't raise a king8 suited but you should medium or small either way wants us to check a lot on this one okay fine again out of positions hard we bet small they called on the turn do we keep betting probably looks like it wants smaller bet size again out of position is hard everybody told you to screw up a lot of these nut on river of course all L although it does like mixing it just protect the rest of the range fine and good check the a62 TS they small obviously call by the way check call here you can't just go around check folding pocket PA a lot of people think oh Ace on the Flop you got to check and fold can't go around checking and folding turn Queen I think we can fold to a kind of big betat 50/50 between call and fold if we do call the turn do we call on the river a lot of people want to know that let's take a look I can already tell you you're going to fold on the river but let's see just to confirm so on the turn I want to know are is the opponent betting with roughly this range on the turn or are they value betting too frequently or are they bluffing too frequently I think most people value bet a lot of their ASX more often than GTO does in the spot notice GTO is actually checking a decent amount of ASX right so I think most people don't do that do I think they're bet betting with nine seven of diamonds on the turn eight seven of diamonds and eight seven of hearts probably not so against most people this is a spot where if anything I don't think they're bluffing often enough right so when they do bet 5.8 I should overfolded to whatever GTO says so I'm obviously not going toold the top pairs but notice Aces or Kings Jacks and tens are mixing right and these are hands that I think I would want to fold in the real world to account for the fact that I don't think people are playing GTO ELO rating go down if you pick the right answer no least it shouldn't send us an email support pokercoaching.com if it's messing up you may find in the spot like doesn't it feel bad just to like check in then check fold check in then check fold is donk betting bad I don't know it depends on if the board is good for you or not all right here we have a cool spot we have nut on the river super nut do we check it do we bet tiny big so I think normally you want to bet big when you have the nuts the thing is though if we bet tiny and they have an ace they're probably going to raise if we check they're just going to check it back with lots of King High type stuff so I think we're supposed to bet small but this is probably just going to mix it does mostly check okay fine get behind that that's a spot where like it's so hard for them to have anything that I supp four 10 four huh bet this one's small or check I don't know I'll check it we do check that's small can we fold immediately probably not call lead a 10 probably not but maybe sometimes yeah look 31% leads so talking about donk leads right this 10's really good for me and really good for them uh so this is a spot where in the real world again I I got to presume we should fold but against most people I think again against GTO it might stick around I would click is mixing again right notice this turn why do we get to lead this turn sometimes well if you think about it they're not going to bet a whole lot of their 10x on the turn right so given they're not going to bet a whole lot of 10x I'm sorry they're GNA bet 10x on the Flop so if we look at their range here we are going to check with a lot of 10x right then when it gets around to them they're not going to bet a whole lot of 10x I mean they're mixing it to be they're not going to be betting a whole lot of 10x right what they do 1.6 called then turn was a 10 notice now we get to lead with some 10x we have a lot of super good hands here right so pretty cool spot where we get to have some leads because they're not betting a whole lot of 10x than we are anyway this is the trainer as you can see we have lots and lots of spots pre-loaded up for you or you can click over here actually these are the drills you can click on the trainer and select the exact spot that you want for your situation so notice you can do pre flop or the full hand depending on what you want to train tournaments or cash games let's say we want to do e-hand one big blind anti you can say I want to be on the button against the cut off let's say I want to be 40 big blinds deep versus arays first in let's say I want the board to be s seven6 I want my hands to be only kind of decent we're going to prune out the garbage click Start and then this will train you on this exact spot right and so now you can go through and play whatever scenario you want to test yourself on to make sure you fully understand how to play these situations you can go through and do this over and over and over over over again to train yourself and test yourself what do we do here in position against the kind of big bat I guess I would F but I really don't like it oh it does want to call feels bad huh how wide are we supposed to call on the Flop and so notice like whenever I'm going through these these scenarios even when I'm getting it wrong quotequote wrong I'm still learning right because I want to know now how wide do I call against a big flop bat and the answer is apparently a tends about the bottom of the range which is good to know right and if you consistently develop intuition and maybe you're like off by a little bit you're going to be fine a lot of people look at this think oh man a10's call every time but then you look at A9 and it's mixing it means I was off by a pip okay so we need to call a tiny bit wider and that may naturally think in the spot and that's going to go a long way to helping train our intuition call the king Jack suited we'll do one more hand and we'll call it a day s76 they check do we bet small I don't know maybe H I'm going to check but it might be a best small spot just check it's mixing if we had a lower it's like right here something else I want to look at if we had a lower hand like uh 10 nah Hearts do we bet that or Jack tenah Hearts I would say definitely yes now do we start betting the turn is a bluff I don't know probably no never okay I got that one wrong never okay so on the Flop when they check what do we Bluff notice like Jack nine 10 n jack8 108 8's obviously draw Queen 10 these are betting more often than like King Jack King 10 King n de as expected whenever we do check check the Flop and they check the turn the turn is a what was it something they check what do we bet now so we're betting big when we do bet I thought we uh I was again just like one pip off right and again if you're one pip off don't beat yourself up too much but this is the kind of thing you want to be training and you want to be studying like in the spot I figured when it did go check check we need to be bluffing the turn a lot so what is a lot and I I figured it'd be these hands like obviously the question is does it peek up into King 10 King nine king8 king Jack Queen Jack and I didn't know and that is where you go about studying right and you can study and improve your skills so that is Peak GTO check it out we're having an early bird sale it ends today we are consistently adding a ton to Peak GTO but currently training nothing but it's way better if you really focus on specific scenarios especially those that give you trouble so make sure you control your practice and study what is actually giving you
