[Music] how many [Music] times have you heard someone say [Music] if I had money I'll do things my [Music] way but little they know that is all hard to [Music] fight oh un Rich rning t with a [Music] satisfi money came by by I've always loved the sea it's probably because I grew up far from it in Northern Italy by the mountains throughout the years I tried out different water sports like surfing Sun up paddle boarding scuba diving kaying and I suck at most of them but every time I'm by the water I have a big flat smile on my face [Music] person is a part we both wanted to live a different way of life and neither of us really enjoyed working in an office so we started talking about the idea of going sale cruising on the cheap [Music] [Applause] sa we bought a small saleboat for around 10K and we do everything on the cheap we anchor out most of the time and don't eat out much our budget is £500 a month so 250 each and we found our cruising Kitty by working freelance on our laptops a couple of days a week we're sailing from Coral in the UK down to the Mediterranean hoping to make it all the way to Malta where um there's amazing seas and rock climbing this winter we'll probably stay on the Ria guardiana which is between Spain and Portugal it'll be a steep learning curve for us as we get to grips with sailing living on a boat and hopefully making enough money to keep us going our boat's called Kitty wake it's a 1977 heavily twined 26 foot catamaran she's ruggedly built and while the Eraser she's easy and forgiving to sale the rig is quite small and everything's controlled from the big safe cockpit so she's a great first boat let's give you a boat tour so this is the back of the boat this is where we do a lot of fishing from got this nice little back deck here um and it's also where we keep Mar which um is our walk Bay 8T plastic dingy um it's named after one of ellena's friends who sadly died just before we left um it's a great little dingy um we can row it about as well much better than a blowup dingy um and then these are our Rudders and they're joined from the these two tillers with this tiller bar which is good it means that we can have a tiller pilot um Auto steering system much better than trying to install a wheel pilot and so we have six solar panels on the boat there's these two old ones which were installed when we got the boat which kind of just kept the batteries about topped up and then we installed these two and then the two on the front cabin you can see um so we've got a total of about 540 WS of solar um which easily provides all of the electricity we need we um normally on a day like today the batteries will be topped up by about 9:00 in the morning and if it's cloudy about 11:00 um so this is the entrance to the back cabin where we sleep and this is the table we made little outside eating area um and then this is the helm position and you can control pretty much everything when you're sailing the boat from here except for that sheet winch which is a bit far away the yeah instruments alads sheets everything from here this is the engine so have a 9.9 horsepower Yamaha board mounted into this well in the cockpit um which is great because if anything goes wrong with it then we can just um stick it in the dingy and make it ashore to the local outboard guy which makes repairs a bit cheaper and then let's go to the front deck so being a catamaran we have this nice big front deck area um which is great for chilling out in the evening with a beer um and also when you're up here doing any anything with the sails anything like that or sorting out the anchor so we have a 45 about 22 Kil um Manson Supreme anchor which is quite oversized for this boat um but it's been working great so far held Us in about 55 mph winds and so yeah it's been working out great and we have this a bridal system set up where we have this old climbing rope running through that plastic um tube to protect it from chafe and then it goes down and meets the anchor chain just that if anything were to happen to this main anchor road then those guys will be there as a backup and then over here we got our spa in it bag waiting for use later today so this is our storage area you can see we've got tons of junk in here all this stuff over here is for fixing the boat and then we've got a bit of climbing stuff over here got a fishing rod this guy has been quite successful we caught a massive Pollock on that and then that's the captain's chair' got a deck brush and then we've got a couple of Sails this is the storm jib and that's the spa in that red bag and then at the back you might be able to just see just here is our tiller pilot and then this is the outboard for the dingy so this is a saloon we've got a u city with um storage under each of the benches and at the back as well um which is really helpful uh we've got a hat just up here which can open all the way out um our ghetto blaster um and over here we've got all the evening stuff so um the board games the booze and the after sun so all the essentials so this is our nav station um we've got um all our Electronics uh controls here um and as well we've got our uh solar panel charge controllers up here two big boys um over here we've got that Sounder speed log radio and GPS and then this becomes our napt so just put down and then you can just sit down here and do your navigation with all your charts and things bit of storage down here and then under here it's like a quarter bir um which at the moment we use to store all our junk so uh from pumping stuff to rock climbing stuff stuff two tools um and also the batteries are down there and that's the switch for it so this is our heads that's the new we've got a composting toilet in there um so to be a bit Greener um we've got um basically two holes one for the solids and one for the liquids and there's a vent that's connected to the outside with this big tube um and this is the vent switch over here there's a um storage for life jackets so you got life jackets in there and then there's a hose connected to an um a water bottle I think it's about 5 gallons um and that's connected to the shower head um and it's got a foot pump so we can have showers in here obviously you've got your little sink there storage down there and more storage down there so this is the galley um we've got a sink with two tops one is fresh water and one is uh salt water and they're both um operated by foot pumps at the bottom down here um we've got a gas burner with two Hobs and an oven which we only ever used once cuz we try to save our gases as much as we can um over here there's all our um Crockery and things like that um here's our um water tank and it's 50 L um and at the bottom here there's a really awkward space uh which um we call build fridge because it keeps that quite um cold and that's where we keep our beers and things like that um but it's really awkward to access so we make sure we really we're really thirsty before we get into it um and then over here it's um just all storage um and some of it is really deep it goes under the seats in the saloon so um I can even all the way in just like that this is the sto through and it goes all the way to our bedroom uh the B um but it's full of really Handy Storage so we've got all sorts of stuff in here we've got our hammocks and our courtesy Flags in here we've got all our um neoprene stuff so wet suits and gloves and hoods up there um and our diving weights as well um and then just a load of um warm clothes for when it's really cold cuz we're in the UK um so big jackets hats and things like that um our dirty washing um and just um some shades for uh the outside and um and just some bits and Bobs so um bits for the sales and things like that um it's really helpful cuz otherwise our is in a separate cabin from the main cabin so we'd need to get outside in the rain or in the cold at night to get to the uh heads so we love this sto through so that's the sto through where I came from um and this is our birth we've got a uh double birth um which is just a standard double bed um so we're really lucky with that we've got loads of space um up here we've got loads of storage for clothes um but that wasn't enough so we buil a mini wardrobe down here um where we've got all this space all of that to put our clothes in um we s our clothes in little bags like this so they're easily accessible otherwise you'd get lost in there um got hot water bottles for the night because it's quite cold in the UK um even though it's almost summer um and then down there we've got our Dos Amigos which are our only plants on board um and a little bit of hanging storage as [Music] well maybe you're tired of the waves that come and knock you off your feet I'd long to see you on a day when you want drown the constant dragon and the SE your hands been tied in there to greet A Life That's bounded to a world that keeps [Music] on
