Lecture on the Prophetic Ministry and Its Five Spheres

Introduction to the Prophetic Ministry

  • Not everyone is called to be an "Ephesians 4:11 Prophet."
  • We are a prophetic generation, all called to hear the voice of God.
  • Reference: John 10, "My sheep know me and hear my voice."
  • All followers of Jesus hear God's voice with varying measures and spheres of prophetic ability.

The Five Spheres of the Prophetic

1. The Spirit of Prophecy

  • All believers are called to hear God's voice - John 10.
  • Common misconceptions: Angelic encounters, audible voices, etc.
  • Essence: Every believer can hear and speak God's words.
  • Prophets create an atmosphere that enables others to prophesy.

2. The Gift of Prophecy

  • Found in 1 Corinthians 12; one of the nine gifts of the Spirit.
  • Involves foretelling and forthtelling (predicting and causing the future).
  • Functions by edifying, encouraging, and comforting others (1 Corinthians 14:3).

3. Recognized Prophetic Ministry at a Local Level

  • Recognized by local church and community for credible prophetic words.
  • Encouraged to prophesy to individuals and the local body.
  • Their prophetic contributions are valued during services and gatherings.

4. Recognized Prophetic Ministry at a Translocal Level

  • Impact extends beyond their local church to other churches and ministries.
  • Known for accuracy, character, and love.
  • Receive recognition and credibility from a wider community.

5. The Ascension Gift: The Office of the Prophet (Ephesians 4:11)

  • Known and recognized widely as genuine prophets.
  • Influential figures include Cindy Jacobs, Chris Vallotton, Bob Jones, among others.
  • Signs of a true prophet: Invited into the council room of heaven.
  • Have Christlike character and are widely accepted and recognized.
  • Involves a personal conviction and recognition by other leaders.

How to Recognize a Calling as a Prophet

  • Believe it in the heart with personal conviction.
  • Confirmation through leaders and recognized prophets.
  • May operate at various levels: locally, regionally, or internationally.
  • Convergence of personal calling, leader recognition, and community acceptance defines a prophet.

Conclusion

  • Not everyone is an Ephesians 4:11 Prophet, but one can operate within the prophetic gifts.
  • Determine your sphere and operate with confidence, relying on the Holy Spirit.
  • Continue to grow in the ability to hear God's voice and use your prophetic gifts.
