Oct 6, 2024
Lecture on the Prophetic Ministry and Its Five Spheres
Introduction to the Prophetic Ministry
Not everyone is called to be an "Ephesians 4:11 Prophet."
We are a prophetic generation, all called to hear the voice of God.
Reference: John 10, "My sheep know me and hear my voice."
All followers of Jesus hear God's voice with varying measures and spheres of prophetic ability.
The Five Spheres of the Prophetic
1. The Spirit of Prophecy
All believers are called to hear God's voice - John 10.
Common misconceptions: Angelic encounters, audible voices, etc.
Essence: Every believer can hear and speak God's words.
Prophets create an atmosphere that enables others to prophesy.
2. The Gift of Prophecy
Found in 1 Corinthians 12; one of the nine gifts of the Spirit.
Involves foretelling and forthtelling (predicting and causing the future).
Functions by edifying, encouraging, and comforting others (1 Corinthians 14:3).
3. Recognized Prophetic Ministry at a Local Level

Encouraged to prophesy to individuals and the local body.
Their prophetic contributions are valued during services and gatherings.
4. Recognized Prophetic Ministry at a Translocal Level

Known for accuracy, character, and love.
Receive recognition and credibility from a wider community.
