thank you leaving Behind Bars is a constant struggle to survive for many inmates who are subject to harsh conditions within Prison Walls as inmates of persons deprived of Liberty are also still waiting for the verdict on their cases to come sooner rather than later injustices Eun report says imprisonment is detrimental not only for the detainees but also to their families especially if the one incarcerated is a breadwinner 62 year old Jesse has been in prison for three years now he worries about his family and the pandemic has made it even more difficult for families and inmates to see each other foreign [Music] [Music] some still endure poverty and inequality even after getting out of jails most of them are poor and educated and there's a lot of Injustice sad to say I have to say this in our justice system again because uh overcrowded there's one PDL he doesn't even know what's the meaning of not guilty and guilty so we thought we we taught him not guilty more than one hundred thousand five inmates are considered pre-trial detainees in the country majority are men according to a May 2021 data of the Bureau of jail management and penology the world prison data also showed an average Filipino inmate spends nine months in jail without sentence some cases are available but most can afford to post bail will Justice remains elusive to most of the inmates some jails focus on the rehabilitation of the detainees so they will be ready to return to society when given the second chance [Music] through our livelihood activities [Music] it remains to be seen how the next set of leaders will prioritize Justice reforms and improve conditions in jails and provide equal legal access to both rich and poor the saying still goes Justice delayed is Justice denied CNN Philippines [Music]
