Several voices: iMooX, iMooX, iMooX... You probably already know iMooX, Austria’s only MOOC platform for higher education institutions. But have you ever asked yourself how a MOOC, in other words a course on iMooX, is created? And how you can create your own MOOC and offer it on iMooX? Let’s take a look behind the scenes of iMooX. Offering a course on iMooX is easy. Your first step is to contact us at Team iMooX. Friendly voice over phone:
iMooX Support, what can I do for you? In a personal conversation, we will talk about all the
details and decide on the next steps together. How long is an iMooX course? A course on iMooX has a set duration. The average is 6 weeks, but it can of course be longer or shorter, depending on the content. During this time, your content is released to participants step by step in lessons, usually on a weekly basis. During this time, you support the participants via the course forum. After the guided phase is over, the course is still available to everyone free of charge, but as a self-study course. Which contents does an iMooX course have? Each lesson contains at least one video and an associated self-assessment. The video should ideally last around 10 minutes. If there is more to say, simply make two videos on the topic of the week. In addition, you are welcome to enrich your lessons with other activities. Make sure that all content has a Creative Commons licence, because iMooX is an OER platform, which means that you are welcome to reuse the content on iMooX. By the way: all videos are published on our iMooX channel on YouTube. This is how we achieve the greatest distribution possible. Take a look and follow us. Learning video? How do I do that? Don't be afraid of video production. Our video team is here to help and advise you: whether you're aiming for a studio shot, an outdoor shot, an animated film or a combination of these. Our canvas for creating learning videos also
gives you an overview so you don't forget anything. You can even write a simple script there.
Did you know you can also make your videos interactive? With H5P technology, you can easily and quickly add didactic value to your video and thus to the MOOC by adding interactions. What else can participants do? What learners can do in your course is determined by YOU with your offer. Each course also has a standard forum.
How intensively and collaboratively you use it is up to you. Learners can download a course certificate at the end of the course if they have completed all self-assessments with at least 75% correct answers. And if you want, learners can also receive a badge for each completed lesson, that is a kind of digital certificate in the form of a collector's medal.
By the way: the language you want to use in the course is also up to you: You are very welcome to offer a multilingual MOOC! Okay, and then…? Once you have created all the contents, they only
need to be integrated into the course. We create the course for you. You can then e
nter and edit the content in your course yourself. All you need is a short training session from us to become part of the community of certified iMooX course creators. Being an iMooX course creator has even more advantages. We keep you informed about iMooX news
and invite you to the iMooX Summit once a year, where you have the opportunity not only to
exchange ideas with us and other course creators, but also to help shape the future of iMooX. Become part of the growing iMooX community and get your own iMooX partner landing page for your university. Well, why should you do all of this? Martin Ebner:iMooX.at does not only offer online courses
free of charge, but we are also GDPR compliant and allow teachers and students to log into iMooX.at without having to sign up. And thirdly, we only offer Open Educational Resources. This means that all content of iMooX.at is created in a way so that it can be reused or even edited and contributes to
education free of charge of society as a whole. But there’s more. iMooX itself is part of the MOOChub, a unique collaboration of different platforms with the common goal of promoting education for all. This means that all courses you publish on iMooX
also become part of the MOOChub. And in the meantime we are continuing to develop iMooX:
Soon it will be possible to release content to the participants of your MOOC based on performance and thus even more individually.
Equally important to us is accessibility of all content in order to better accommodate the diversity of learners.
We are also working on allowing learners to upload their own contributions to a course and for you to be able to analyse all of this via a specially developed interface. And our own MOOC on all the topics we have shown in this
video is also in the making. It will make it easier to get started with creating courses on iMooX.
We call it the MOOC MAKER MOOC. Until then, our MOOC Maker Canvas and the MOOC Map
will keep you informed and of course we, the entire iMooX team.
We are looking forward to working with you! We are iMooX.
