Starting AutoCAD
AutoCAD has two main versions:
Autodesk AutoCAD 2020
(full version)
Autodesk AutoCAD LT
(lighter version with limited features)
User interface may vary slightly between Windows and Mac but functions remain similar.
Starting a New Drawing
Select the "Start Drawing" box to begin.
User Interface Components

Basic Drawing Tools
Line Tool
: Click to start drawing.
First point: Click at a location.
Subsequent points: Click again to define the line.
Press "Enter" to finish.
Navigation Tools

Select objects by clicking; deselect with the "Escape" key.
Selection Methods

Window Selection
: Selects objects entirely within a solid rectangle.
Crossing Window
: Selects objects that touch the boundary of a dashed rectangle.
Lasso Selection
: Selects objects using a freeform area drawn around them.
Setting Units
To set units, use the command
