hey what's up you guys Marty Schwartz here and I am thrilled to be back making tons of guitar lesson videos and I'm gonna bring you one of those iconic guitar lessons right now so we'll zoom in I'll show you the chords all the little tricks and everything and also real quick I really appreciate you subscribing to this YouTube channel of mine this is where I'm gonna be and I got a lot of cool stuff planned so I really appreciate that but anyway let's zoom in and break this one down right now here we go alright so we're gonna be doing power chords and power chords are typically you know like a two finger sometimes a three finger chord it's a two note chord and the first power coat we're gonna play is an F power chord which has the root on the first fret of the E string and ring finger on some people use their pinky but ring finger on the third fret of the a string so that's our first chord and the trick with that chord my voice when I the trick is with the index finger I'm letting it lightly touch the other string so they're muted so if I did a power chord which is the tips and didn't mute the strings it would sound like that but if I let my index finger and you get that muted sound so we'll work on that rhythm in in just a few seconds let's go through the other chords of the mate you know the main part of this song so f then we just scoot this chord down a string so now what we have is index on the first of the a ring on the third of the d still muting but now there's a new thing we're muting and that's with the tip of my index finger its muting that low e just by you know I'm hitting that note and I'm letting it the tip of it kind of rub up against that low e to mute it then this one which is b-flat power chord there were two do the exact same thing and we go up to where the root is on the fourth fret of the e-string so now we'll call that a flat and then ring finger on the sixth of the a and it starts clean and then you kick on some kind of distortion pedal overdrive pedal grunge pedal fuzz pedal to some kind of you know beefy distortion pedal to get that more rock sound so here's here's it again f to B flat a flat to D flat so the rhythm that's going on is down up down chicky chicky which is down up down up so down up down chicky chicky and so what's going on is I'm doing the down up down then I'm relaxing my courting hand but touching the string so it's muted so I went down up down up then I scoot that chord over so you can hear that muting sound so now let me do that again and break it down even slower and the art of muting the strings you don't want it takes some time but you just want to keep jamming the song and that will get better that's the kind of thing you work through by repetition here we go I just want to show off my face pedal I have this little pedal that adds a bass sound and you know cuz that's what happens in the song it breaks down to just bass and drums and vocals and then this real kind of moody little guitar part I just have a chorus effect I think he's using like a vibrato kind of effect anyway I'm just using just a random course in fact just to add a little different flavor and what you're doing is you're covering the first fret of the B and the high E and you're hitting the B then the high E 1st fret so if you have three four one two three four one and so the baseline even though it doesn't it's not played on guitar it would be just the root notes of the power chords do they go to to chew you know does that a bunch into the rock - JA chiki chiki and so one more time on that first rhythm really slow all right that's all she wrote I hope you had fun learning this iconic tune real quick I appreciate you subscribing to this channel and if there's other lessons you'd like to see songs techniques anything like that go ahead and like this video and leave it in the comments below and I'll check it out thanks again and can't wait to see you real soon so take care you
