Where to Stay in Valencia, Spain

Hey everyone. Uh, welcome to this week's video. Uh, this week we're gonna talk about where to stay in Valencia, Spain. Um, whether if you are just coming as a tourist mm-hmm. , or if you're coming to scout and move like we have, um, obviously, uh, if you're at our channel, please like, subscribe. You know, YouTube loves that stuff and again, more people have been watching our stuff than we thought. So it does help us kind of get our videos out and, uh, hopefully this video is helpful to, again, tourists and people to maybe move to Valencia. Um, hopefully this helps both of you. Mm-hmm. . Um, and so to start it off, Aubrey's gonna start off with, I think her favorite place mm-hmm. , um, that we end up actually choosing. So yeah, I was gonna let you go there. So, I mean, we both have, we both love places, but then our, both of our favorites are a little bit different. Yep. Uh, my favorite area, which is the area that we live in, is the Cologne area. So, uh, I believe the town is called Plame. Mm-hmm. , and correct me if I'm wrong, um, we love this area. It's, uh, very, very central. It's super close to the metro, um, uh, grocery stores. Yeah. I think we have about six in our general area. Mm-hmm. like two blocks away. Um, and I know a lot of other places they might have one or two, but it was just nice to know that we have, we get certain things from different grocery stores, so that's really nice. Mm-hmm. . Uh, another thing that I like is, uh, there's shops everywhere. Mm-hmm. there you can get all your clothing, five, six blocks all the way around. It's, it's a really cool area. Something that I do not like as much about our area is we don't have a lot of food options. Sure. So, I mean, we have to walk two blocks over, three blocks over, but in a lot of the areas we talk about, you have good food right downstairs. Yeah. And you can, your kids can be sleeping and you can go out and just sit on the patio outside and Yeah. Have a drink or, you know, go eat some dinner, like alone . Yeah. So, yeah. Yeah. No, it's, it's a beautiful area. Mm-hmm. . Um, one thing I guess we, we do have to warn you is we weren't trying to live in this area, um, because it is probably what we've been told at Lisa is the most expensive area of Valencia. Um, now to us, I want you guys all to keep this in mind. Our rent here is less than our rent in Ohio. Mm-hmm. , um, in, in somewhat rural Ohio, uh, renting like a town home type of thing, as we're debating are, we're gonna buy a house, are we gonna leave the country? Yeah. We're going back and forth on this. Right. So for, you know, people from the states that kind of want you to keep that in mind, that even the most expensive area, it is still cheaper than our Ohio rent. Um, and we also have a really big family. Oh, sure. His mom will be living up as well. We'll have seven people. Yeah. Three dogs. And it was really hard to find a bigger place in a lot of the other areas that we will talk about. Yeah. We just, we needed a bigger spot and this is kind of what was available. Yeah. And I think maybe we'll do a video on that, how people actually just kept denying us. Not because we had three dogs, but because we had four kids. Yeah. They're like, no, no, you're not doing that yet. We don't want them . Yeah. Uh, and Spain loves kids, but they just don't love four kids. Yeah. . Um, so yeah. Uh, the next place that I'm gonna talk about is El uh, KA, I believe is what it said. So basically it's on the beach. Um, and this is somewhere where I think a lot of the more tourists will love mm-hmm. . Some people move here, do move out that way. The tough thing is, is one, I have to say, it's a beautiful, like boardwalk. The beach for a city beach is pretty nice. Like for like example, Aliante City Beach did not care for that at all. Um, but Malaga City Beach, eh, I don't know, like just for me, it's not for us. Yeah. Um, but Valencia City Beach actually pretty nice, that boardwalk beautiful. Mm-hmm. , I think it's amazing walk. You see people in the summer running, biking, exercising, it's packed. Um, the tough thing is, is if it's not summer, it pretty much dies down. So I don't know about, again, as living there, for us personally, it didn't work. Um, the food options are so, so obviously you're gonna have higher prices because it is somewhat more of a tourist area. Not outrageous prices, but it is a little bit higher. Um, but overall, that was our first day. I think we stayed there two days, three days. I loved hearing the ocean water. Um, just being from Hawaii, it made me a little homesick. Almost actually like to wake up and actually hear, like, I wouldn't say waves, but you could hear the, the, the water there. Mm-hmm. , which was really cool. Loved, uh, loved again the boardwalk. I keep saying that cuz it, it's so beautiful. You actually do have to take a look at it. Outside of that though, I mean, you go a couple, couple streets in, it doesn't look as nice as, as a lot of the inner part of Valencia. Um, this wasn't our favorite and that's okay. Yeah. Just, just didn't care for, I think as, as a trip, if you want some nice water, um, some, a lot of sun, a great boardwalk, it's worth it, um, to move out there to each their own, but for us it wasn't worth it. So. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, another place that a lot of people go and especially a lot of expats mm-hmm. is Rufa now. We stayed there I wanna say three or four days. Mm-hmm. , I think we stayed there three or four days. Yeah. We really liked it. Granted, like the food options were endless. Yeah. I mean, I, we wouldn't live there personally. Um, mainly too, because we'd want to be by the tor we have the dogs. Yeah. Like that was a big deciding factor as well. Um, but we actually find ourselves there all the time. And for date nights, I mean we even take our kids there. We love to go to the market. Uh, there's another park close over there, but it just seems to me we always gravitate that way or more towards like city center. So, um, you, you would really like Rusafa and I think it's a cool place to stay and I know tons and tons and tons of people like would prefer to live there. Yes. Now actually something we wanted to do. Um, we have these videos, a lot more people watching than we thought. We kind of just wanted to give shout outs to like local businesses that we actually enjoy. Uh, again, they don't even know we're shouting them out or anything like that. It's just, uh, because you said Rufa, there is this orange stand. I'm gonna put it up on top of this uh, uh, video right now. Uh, it's this orange stand. Maybe you can pronounce that. I'm gonna add this picture here. I don't wanna mess this up. Um, but how do you say that R now Rosser. Yep. R now ro uh, it is on the bottom part. So the outside part of the ruaha market on the bottom. Um, and like I know it's weird that we're shouting out like an orange stand. It's so good. It is Maybe the best oranges mandarin. They have like all these mixtures of like mandarin, orange and combinations. Like, um, maybe the best ones I've ever had. Yes. In my life. Um, and I don't say that lightly, you know, how I feel about food . Right. Um, just absolute incredible, super reasonable prices. Um, maybe it's cuz we order so much. She always, they always give our kids free oranges. Like, like as we're walking around they just give us some oranges to eat. Uh, but yeah. Really wanted to shout them out real quick before I move on to my section. Just because, um, an amazing little fruit stands. Mm-hmm. , it's all locally grown. They bring it in every week. Um, and we get at least three kilos every time we go there. And, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I go back like every four to five days. Yeah. I, it we kind of have a problem. Yeah. So, and they're just so good. Yeah. So yeah, I wanted to give them a little shout out. Uh, if you guys are ever through Sofa market, please check them out. Um mm-hmm. incredible. Incredible. Her oranges. Yeah. Uh, but back to the topic at hand, um, the next kind of area we want to talk about is, uh, El Carmen, uh, the old town. Um, very pretty. Um, I think again, um, we do have one or two friends that live near, I don't actually think they're in El Carmen. Um, but I think it's more of a tourist destination than a living situation. Um, and the only reason I say that is because for us personally, um, now with that said, I'm sorry if you're single, don't have young kids or anything like that, you love to bike and do all that type of stuff. I think El Carmen could work for you. For us, one reason we did love the Cologne area, um, as, as Aubrey had mentioned, is from our place, the main cologne metro is like a two minute walk. Mm-hmm. in El Carmen. I can't even think of the closest metro. I don't even know if it's within 10 minute walk. Yeah. They might have to come towards Cologne. Yeah, they might have to. And that's 15 minute walk. Maybe. Maybe even go across the tour. Yeah. To be honest. And now there are some buses, but now you're waiting on buses and then even the connecting bus routes aren't the best. So again, I think as a tourist, a hundred percent great area, amazing food, really cool vibe. A lot of like, uh, nightclubs and bars and stuff like that over there. There's always something happening up there as well there in Rusafa. Yeah, for sure. For sure. Yeah. Now again, for living there, the noise level's definitely louder than our area. Mm-hmm. . Um, and really for us it was the transportation side of things. That's actually what it really came down to a lot was the, the how far the metro was and, and then the bus. Yeah. Like those things when you have a family of six trying to get around, trying to go to sports, trying to get to school, school, it's a lot. It's tough. Like you don't have those good options. Especially cuz we don't have a car now. If you have a car, maybe that changes it. Maybe not. Cause those streets are narrow like, um, yeah, overall love it. I think you should see it. We go there maybe once a month for like a date night and stuff like that. It's maybe more. Um, but yeah, for living it would be tough for us. Uh, single people, kids with maybe only one kid, or I'm sorry, found only one kid. Maybe it work for you. But, uh, the next one, uh, the next one is the Grand Villa area. Mm-hmm. . Now a lot of expats also live here as well. It's a kind of a tie up between Ruaha and Grand Villa. Yeah. Um, I would say Grand Via though is a little more on the pricey side. Uh, oh hundred percent food. The food is more pricey. Mm-hmm. , the place is to stay are pricier, but it's super beautiful. Yeah. And we, we'll do like a little walking tour of the Grand Via area cuz it, it's really pretty and I do think you should go see it. Mm-hmm. , uh, we, we also stayed there for a couple days as well when we visited and we loved it. We actually fell in love with the area. Yeah. Um, so yeah, I, I would recommend staying there. They have great food options. We're in there as well. Uh, cuz they just have food all up and down. It's, it's easy to get something over there. Um, and I think that's pretty much it about Grainville. . Yeah. I mean, I think, um, one of the nicer areas of Valencia for sure. Mm-hmm. , I loved Grand via the biggest thing actually why we kind of chose the Cologne area. If you're, if you're looking at the map, it's literally grand via the area. We are directly above with that main grand via like avenue going right across. Yeah. And we, we thought about, cause the, for the dogs, um, you know, that the biggest reason, again, I'm gonna keep harping on this, was transportation for our family. Us being a couple blocks closer to that metro makes it so much easier, uh, with, with the things that we're doing. So, um, onto probably my like, I think a gem of Valencia. Um, and I probably would've voted to live here. I mean, I'm sorry, I did vote to live here. We tried. Yeah, we tried. We did. It was just too far for the dogs. Mm-hmm. is really what it came down to, especially being in a city. We wanted to be closer to the, to or park. And this place was a little further. Uh, this place is AAN Kapin and, uh, I freaking love Aan Kapin. I think that's so cool. Uh, underrated food. I think the sidewalks are so wide. Some of the widest sidewalks, like I've seen in my life, like, like, you know, 10 feet wide type sidewalks. Um, and, uh, cute shops. Really cute shops. Really cute shops. Very like, I wanna say like chill or like lowkey type of vibe. Like when we're walking around there at like 11:00 AM not many people. Mm-hmm. , like, like again, maybe it's just a really wide sidewalks, but I didn't feel like there was a ton of hustler bust. So not that Valencia's, you know, really busy like, uh, London or New York or anything like that. Um, but amazing food. They actually had their own sports complex, which was a big thing for our kids to play sports. You actually just go there. Um, compared to like trying to go into the TRIA like we do for our kids or go across the, the, the bridge to get some of like the Suma classes and stuff for our kids. Um, over overall, Adon Kaine had some great concert titles for the kids. They had the individual sports. Mm-hmm. , uh, co complex. They had the good food. They, it was cheaper food too. Compared to our area, it's gotta be at least 10 to 20% cheaper. Yeah. Um, for your, your menu dillas and stuff like that. Um, it really actually came down to the dogs. Metro options aren't bad. Not as good as Cologne, but still pretty darn good. Yeah. Um, it came down to the dogs, which is why we didn't choose it. Um, but I love that on Cappin. Definitely give it a look. Um, and again, if you're a tourist or a person looking to scout here, you're gonna, you're gonna like that area either way for sure. So definitely. Yeah. Uh, probably the last one that I'll touch on is, um, the Peno roja area. Mm-hmm. , uh, that is kind of down by the arts and sciences. Yep. There's malls over there. Uh, we do have some friends that live over there and they're nice kind of modern buildings. They have lots of more space. Yep. They're really close to the tree. I think it like, touches the tree. So Yeah. If you do have pets, I mean, I would definitely look down there. Mm-hmm. , uh, great transportation over there. Closer to the water, close to the beach. Um, and we did do a walking tour, uh, of the, to down into the arts and sciences and both malls, so. Oh yeah. I mean there's, you can see the other mall from the other one. You can stand on like the balcony and see the mall and then the arts and sciences. So that's a really cool place to, um, to live and check out. Yeah. It'd say it's a definitely a more modern area and then it gets kinda like older mm-hmm. and then it gets modern, then it gets older. Like it's kind of weird. It's kind of a modge podge. I don't know the word of it, but, um, it's cheaper over there too. Definitely cheaper. Mm-hmm. beautiful. Um, you know, lots of shopping things to do down there and stuff as well. So. Cool. Cool Area. Um, the last one I'm gonna choose, um, to talk about is probably one of the best tourist destinations, I would say to stay. I actually probably wanted to live here the most. I mean, I know I just said that about Anon Cappin, but it was between this and Anon cappin for me. I I, I didn't get either, so it's perfect . Um, but it's not the Yeah, we actually tried again. We actually put in offers in this place and we kept getting told no . Um, this was, uh, the lasu, uh, Laia area. And so it's like the Plaza Day bein, I think it's, I think it's like Virgin if we say that in regular, but I think it's bein in, uh, Spanish, um, beautiful plaza. Mm-hmm. absolutely has, has like a cathedral looking thing. Has the water fountain. It's got this amazing, like, it's beautiful. Massive, I don't wanna say marble floor, but it's something like that. Just a beautiful area. Um, I probably would've sacrificed the transportation if we could have stayed there. Um, it does get a bit busier during the tourist seasons. Um, you have to walk a little further for some grocery stores and stuff. Um, but absolutely my favorite, favorite part of town. Um, I, uh, we have to head up there. Uh, well, we actually cut through it for our kids' soccer practice or football practice. Yeah. We love it. We, I actually take that route through there, even though it's, there's a faster route home. I, I'll I'll cut through there to, to get to our place now. Yeah. Just so I can see it. Um, I, I wouldn't say we do a ton of date nights up there, but we always find ourselves up up there, you know, because uh, it is a little more touristy foods and stuff like that up there. One of our favorite plazas, we love it so much. We actually took family pictures up there. Oh yeah, we did. Yes. We just love the plaza. Some of our YouTube thumbnails will be from up there. Yeah. It's beautiful. Um, so yeah, again, I think as a tourist destination you have like, if you could stay there, stay there. Amazing. Um, and if you're thinking about living there, we do actually have two, two couples, maybe three couples actually we know that live there. And they do love it with three children. Yeah. One has three kids, actually. Both have three kids. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and so, uh, they do love it up there again. Mm-hmm. , I, maybe it's cuz we had four kids. We kept getting No, they they had, they had the cutoff for kids allowed. Yeah. . But again, beautiful area. So overall, um, that is kind of our, our list of places for you to checkout again for tourists or for scouting. There are others Yes. That you can see, don't get me wrong, but I think starting at these locations gives you guys a really good base. And if you want to check out stuff like, you know, uh, Messiah or even outside the tree above, I can't think where that name, where the zoo is. What's that called? Right above there? Mm-hmm. Our Spanish language person is Campar. Yeah. Campar. Yep. So the, the, there again, there's, there's other great places you can look at. I think this is a good start. Um, but yeah, this is probably our longest video yet, so I think we're gonna we're gonna cut it off here. Yeah. So, uh, again, thanks. Uh, if you guys made it to the end, like subscribe and you'll get more videos from us. So other than that, we'll see you in the next video. Aios Aios.
