Hair Wash Day Routine

Introduction

  • Apologies for the echo; recording in the bathroom.
  • Using available products due to lack of usual supplies.
  • Recorded on a Friday evening around 8:30 or 9 PM.

Routine Overview

  • Promised to wash hair today; no plans to undo cornrows until tomorrow.
  • Not a hair expert; trying a new method from TikTok.

Inspiration & Key Tips

  • Inspired by a video from "Y's Channel" on TikTok.
  • Emphasis on scalp health for hair growth.
  • Goals: healthy hair, not necessarily long hair.

Hair Wash Process

Pre-Shampoo Treatment (Pre-Pooing)

  • Used melted coconut oil on the scalp before shampoo.
  • Alternative oils: olive oil, castor oil.

Shampooing

  • Using a non-preferred shampoo (contains an undesirable ingredient).
  • Purchased shampoo will be used until finished to avoid wastage.
  • Prefers sulfate-free shampoos.
  • No handheld shower in the bath; rinsing was a mission.

Double Cleansing and Conditioning

  • Double cleanse due to heavy oil usage.
  • First wash: removing oils and dirt.
  • Second wash: thorough cleaning.

Deep Conditioning

  • Applied deep conditioner and covered with a plastic bag and shower cap.
  • Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
  • Hair felt warm, soft after 30 minutes.
  • Rinsed out the conditioner.

Overnight Moisture Retention

  • Slept with a shower cap and bonnet to preserve moisture.
  • Mistake: forgot to lay a towel, leading to wet pillowcase.
  • Hair remained moist and soft in the morning.

Final Unraveling

  • Took around 2 hours to process hair.
  • Hair remained soft without using a comb after cornrows.
  • Some hair shedding noticed.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts
