think of him the most important character with the story that breaks us dark hair handsome beautiful eyes always either quiet or Broody always treats the main character roughly which stems from his past traumatic experience oh well if you thought of Sasuke I can't say you're wrong because I sing for that man too but we have a new entry on this list who is the one and only RP from chainsaw man well if I was a girl legs wide open bro his introduction in the story is exactly as I told you but we soon realized that his tragedy has no bounce Aki plays a very crucial role in the story of denji to the point that it would not be the same without him however unlike Naruto and Sasuke whose story ends up with a happy ending denji and Aki's friendship ends in this is bad today we're breaking down Aki's depressing reality and story get the tissues guys sorry for that I can I just get emotional man just thinking about every time [ __ ] soppy [ __ ] the first opinion you might have is that Aki is the opposite of denji but was he really what if I told you they were similar let's rewind a bit from the beginning where Aki is first shown to be extremely calm and Collective because he has a one-track mind to focus on his job as a devil Hunter unlike denji Aki's morals and code weren't sloppy or blurry to him devils and fiends were simply tools in the path of his Vengeance he didn't care about making friends with them because that would mean losing sight of his own self well that didn't age well ladies and gentlemen if you know what I mean Aki expresses distress when denji made it clear that he had no preconceived notions about Devils being evil after all a devil had not only saved his life but actually brought him back from the dead in contrast Aki had already lost too much to devils and fiends as the story reveals a painful past behind him he could never see them from an untainted perspective to him devils and anything related to them were evil and he could use any means to kill them as an act of Revenge this was wisdom according to Aki but we saw that change despite his cold appearance and demeanor Aki II was a lonely person at heart for example him asking denji to drop out of the devil Hunters may seem cold and awful but he actually had denji's best interests at heart telling us that he wasn't as emotionless as he wanted to come across in fact kimano disc described Aki as a normal person who would grieve for the people he lost including comrades but he also had no qualms about risking his own life to save other people his already shortened lifespan was proof of his determination he was a selfless person to the core it wasn't just for his close-knit friends and family in reality even Aki's Behavior towards denji made sense because he didn't want another kid like him to grow up as quickly as he himself did when denji first joined as a devil Hunter because of his crude reasons Aki thought that he didn't understand the gravity of the job because it was a job that constantly dealt with death and despair something a child wasn't prepared for and if a devil Hunter wasn't prepared for this job seriously certain death awaited them sooner or later it also meant the weight of another Tombstone for Aki in in the pursuit of a lifelong goal that had wilted away his childhood and youth deep down he understands chainsaw man's important theme that ignorance is bliss ignorance allows the smallest of things in the world seem amazing and fun this extends to mundane things like a comfortable bed which doesn't matter much to a child but to an adult it might be called normal or even a necessity unfortunately Aki didn't know that denji never had a moment of childhood much like himself he was also stuck between a rock and a hard place and had gone through traumatizing things that masked his own ignorance under seemingly worthless dreams but just like Riza Augie quickly realizes that denji was just being used by the devil hunters for their own benefit and although he was enjoying new luxuries it was coming at a cost denji doesn't understand due to his rough childhood and this cost May well have been denji's death at the end of the day Aki was a man of empathy from his call but his life's painful experience had stunted his ability to display emotions something that power and denji's presence completely changed Aki became like an older brother to both of them despite seeming closed off and later became gentle with them and this came from his understanding of both of them he was much like denji who just wanted to survive at any cost denji 2 was an emotionally stunted boy with no family to love or be loved but over time he understood many things and changed ever so little so in many ways denji and Aki were the same but their goals they were different moreover also RK did not want to lose another person he cares for which is why we even saw him risk his life for the angel devil who was a crucial character in his story off as with most of Aki's relationships this one also began on an even unimicable note because according to him they couldn't even pretend to get along kind of reminds me of a workplace all right Universe your colleague getting along with people you don't like so they had a lot of differences but they were the same for one thing they both were simply tools unlike Aki whose Grand plans of Revenge pushed him to use any method even being a devil Hunter as a tool Angel didn't have any such motivation from his telling of the country and town mouse story he was devoid of any such burning emotion because he just wanted to be a country mouse who was safe even at the cost of good food this also showed through his lack of enthusiasm for fighting or using his deadly Powers as he was ordered it irked Aki in the beginning but slowly they both opened up because of the empathy they developed for each other Aki realized that angel was a shell simply being used an angel realized that Aki was a man with a huge burden they both began caring about each other to the point that they were worried for each other's well-being Angel asked Aki about his remaining lifespan and was thoroughly shocked when he willingly not just came close to him but also held his hand to save him Aki would rather shorten his life even further than see another person dying in front of him which is the complete opposite of the culture we see in Devil Hunters where it's a dog eat dog world and they are built to be selfish why would a human sacrifice their life for a devil as for Aki he wanted Angel to form some contracts to prolong his own lifespan so that he could stick around more telling us how much he had changed after his earlier total aversion to Devils he had found a friend in Angel just like his bonds with power and denji but there there one more thing common between them in chapter 74 we come to learn that angel was brutally tricked by makima into killing the people who had taken him in despite knowing he was a devil it was a small coastal village where he was loved and he had loved a woman but makima manipulated him against his will to use his powers Angel woke up to having killed the entire Village losing everything he had ironically this realization came too late because Angel and Aki had both approached the spawn of Satan herself Aki wanted to Forfeit his goal just to save power and denji even if that meant following markima's orders but he couldn't find an answer for the life of him when Angel asked why he liked makima in the first place this was a huge hint towards what was about to unfold and it was gonna extremely tragic if you don't know by now and you're kind of confused make sure to hit the notification Bell and buy our clothing anime drip does shop Lord have mercy I'm about to burst it is as clear as day that such strong conviction cannot manifest out of thin air it is usually a byproduct of a major traumatic experience in one's life this is a common Trope in the medium leading to a base level of similarity between Aki and other characters that fall into this Trope like Sasuke and kudopica for Aki he Bears the burden of having killed his brother also he believes Augie was raised by Two Loving parents until his younger brother was born the younger sibling faced countless Health complications causing the parents to prioritize the sickly child over Aki over time the older brother couldn't play the mature game anymore he had enough of it all he wanted to do was play catch run in the snow and fun just like other kids his age one day he threw a tantrum over the constant neglect eventually Tayo the younger brother wanted to join his brother to play snowball fight or baseball as the two were outside of the house Aki told his brother to bring the ball and gloves to play as Tayo happily ran into the house Aki looked the other way smiling as he finally got to play with his brother whom he actually loves then suddenly he hears a loud voice from the rare he turns around and is dazed his lovely house had turned into dust and in just a second all of his family was dead as one would expect this was far too much for a male child to handle to Aki Kyle's death was his fault if he had chosen snowballed back then his brother would have been alive or if he were to go to the house instead of sending his sickly brother Tayo would have lived no matter what happens to him it was his fault this eventually led to his fixation on the gun devil the killer according to the government it seems like Aki needed something to hyper focus on as the loss of his family in an instant left him Hollow to fill this emptiness and live on Aki needed a purpose and what better way than revenge now it wasn't simply to pass time Aki genuinely convinced himself to believe in this making his conviction stronger than steel however Aki is only human before we delve further into his revenge story we need to understand his relationship with himino his senior first Adil you know how the first person you meet in any setting has the highest potential of influence in you new school well the first lecture is going to tell you a lot about the school culture new workplace well your first Superior teaches you everything you need to know so when Aki started off as a devil Hunter himino played this role she was his Superior for a long long while and taught him a lot gradually the two became even closer and whilst Aggie couldn't reciprocate him and always romantic feelings the two were still extremely close apart from learning things from his Superior Aki also formed a new habit smoking is it good kimono always said that she smoked because she didn't have long to live this wasn't because she had some sort of terminal illness or anything it was simply just because of the nature of the devil hunting business well Aki decided that he'd do the same foreshadowing how much he was willing to sacrifice for his purpose seemingly this brought the two closer both of them had joined this industry to avenge someone they lost to the gundell providing them a common ground one of the most interesting Concepts introduced into all of Chainsaw man is easy Revenge we first saw this written on the last cigarette that himino gave to Aki through the ghost devil this phrase simply means doing only what you can this concept was almost foreign who was ambitious with his goal to kill one of the most feared devils in the world the philosophy of easy Revenge says that one should stay realistic about their goals in life and in this case Revenge it is apparent that Aki could never kill the gun devil and chasing it was practically suicide himino tried to convince him multiple times but to no avail she hoped that the two would leave the public sector and live a good life as private devil Hunters who weren't at a comparatively high risk at dying all she wanted to do was live with him since Aki declined to leave she had no choice but to stay after all she'd practically have no reason to be with Aki for the most part even though they still belonged to the same industry it isn't as easy as simply choosing different paths it's a matter of commitment if either of the two chooses a different path it is apparent that their bond would eventually be severed it's more emotional than practical or logical whatever you may call it this eventually led to himino's death as she wanted to protect Aki when the need arose in the end jimeneo got what she wanted upon her death someone to cry for her as sad as this little love complex was himino influenced Aki deeply especially in his perspective on Revenge Attie knew that he never actually stood a chance against the gun devil this task was simply impossible for a human as the gun devil was literally a Calamity the devils are powered up by the fear humans have of them and who the hell doesn't fear a gun to the head but he couldn't turn away from the path he decided to walk on because it was already too late he had put too much of everything into taking his revenge that he just couldn't give up now if he did that then who would he be he would lose his identity and his purpose in life he had to unhealthily attach himself to the idea of Revenge which is why Aki wasn't living in the present at all because he was already dead in the past thus he was the perfect tool for makima to use ironically Aki saw the Devils as mere tools but it was makima the control devil who had been using him the entire time she knew knew Aki was Expendable and would go to any lengths to protect the people around him and exact Revenge as we saw in chapter 74 but even his death wasn't enough for machima as she turned him into a monster of his worst imagination throughout the medium we've seen just how unsatisfying revenge is with the major characters such as Sasuke dedicating their life to revenge and then regretting it deeply however in the case of Sasuke and many others it was still heroic and Main character-like for Aki it was the same as it would be for most average people like you or me a path of utter torture and suffering chainsaw man makes a clear statement with Aki it's real whatever happens to these characters is a very real experience these character arcs aren't here to inspire you they're here to slam your head into a concrete War repeatedly until you understandably bitter truth of life or until you can at least survive that beaten the manga also does so by playing with the phrase ignorance is Blitz and him and oh and a few others can be seen stating this as the means to survive in the god awful World they belong to however kishibei proved things to be the other way around ignorance is suffering Aki knew that his obsession with Revenge would get him killed yet he chose to do nothing about it as it was quote unquote easier when the future devil asked Aki if he would like to know how he dies he ignored that too he only cared about his revenge he said all of this and yet he didn't want to die perhaps he could have prevented this but I say that death has another cousin apart from sleep ignorance still it was a cruel end for Aki you can't help but feel like he deserved better he despised the gun devil all his life but in the end he had become part of that devil he was on the verge of killing the two people for whom he had sacrificed his life for in the first place yet his deep empathy caused his final Bitter End in his mind he was enjoying a snowball fight with his brother but he saw denji crying for the first time and kind of understood what he was without putting it into words he knew that this shouldn't have happened and we know that Aki really cared for denji perhaps the only person who actually considered him family other than power it's sad that when Aki finally found life to be bearable and fun because of dengian power he was already beyond the point of saving and in an even sadder way just like he had gotten his elder brother killed denji got Aki killed as well honestly it almost feels like Aki's life amounted to nothing just failures upon failures he got his brother killed unintentionally dragged hymno to her death became a Revenge filled of brat only to be used by a devil eventually becoming one himself and committing atrocities that made him fight the devils in the first place however it wasn't wasted he became the person who'd cry when himano died he was the person she'd give her life for he made denji into a capable man and power a family most importantly he was able to play with his brother for once Aki's life really came full circle and so if you want to learn more about denji or makima's reality then make sure you watch this video on your screen right now
