Hello, it's Dr. Sanders from Kaplan Nursing again. It's week three of Nurses Month, and this week I'm going to talk about professional development. Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses. We must be learning all of our lives, according to Florence Nightingale in the 1800s.
She shines a light on our need to continually learn and adapt to the changing healthcare environment. Professional development in nursing keeps us up to date on the latest techniques, technology, and evidence to be able to provide quality patient care. It also fosters an advancement in our growth opportunities. In my mind, professional development can occur through formalized education or through continuing education.
