Spanish Festivals Overview

Tio Spanish, learn Spanish Hello friends! How are you? Today I want to tell you about the most important and most famous festivals in Spain so that you don't miss a single one. In February, as in many places, Carnival is celebrated, which changes date every year. The most popular Carnival festivals in Spain are those in Tenerife and Cadiz. In March, one of the biggest festivals is celebrated , the Fallas in Valencia, from March 15th to 19th. They place some spectacular cardboard monuments in the streets that are burned at the end of the festival. There are many firecrackers, mascletás, lots of music, falleras and fun. Depending on the year, between March and April, Holy Week is celebrated, which is a very popular festival in Spain and is celebrated throughout the country. There are processions in all the cities where the brotherhoods bring out the saints. The most popular Holy Week is celebrated in Andalusia, especially in Seville. And in Seville, the April Fair is also famous, a great festival with its booths, where sevillanas are danced and there is great food and drink. In June, the night of San Juan is celebrated, which is the night of June 23rd. to welcome summer. It is especially well known in Menorca and Alicante where the bonfire festival of San Juan is celebrated, but practically everywhere along the coast people gather on the beach and enjoy that night of partying with friends, music and fire. In July the most famous festival in Spain is celebrated: Sanfermines from July 6th to 14th. In Pamplona, in addition to a lot of partying in the streets, the running of the bulls is very well known, which takes place every day in the streets of the city. In August we have one of the most fun festivals, La Tomatina, a huge tomato fight throughout the town of Buñol, a small town near Valencia, it is celebrated every year on the last Wednesday in August, so be careful with the tomato throwing. And in October we go to Zaragoza to celebrate the Fiestas del Pilar, which is on October 12th and that week there is a lot of partying throughout the city. These are the most popular festivals in Spain, but there are many more in all the cities that may not be as well known but are very fun and beautiful.
