Using Adjectives ~/

  • Sentences must end with a verb or adjective.
  • Verbs/Adjectives end with the syllable ~λ‹€.
  • Adjectives can describe nouns or predicate sentences.
  • To describe nouns, remove ~λ‹€ and add ~γ„΄/은.
    • If stem ends in a vowel, add ~γ„΄.
    • If stem ends in a consonant, add ~은.
  • Examples:
    • I want a big boat: 큰 λ°°λ₯Ό μ›ν•˜λ‹€ (correct form)
    • The food is expensive: μŒμ‹μ΄ λΉ„μ‹Έλ‹€
    • Expensive food: λΉ„μ‹Ό μŒμ‹
  • Adjectives such as λ§›μžˆλ‹€ (delicious) and μž¬λ―Έμžˆλ‹€ (funny/fun) use ~λŠ” instead of ~γ„΄/은 due to a grammatical exception.

To Be Many Of ~

  • λ§Žλ‹€ is used to indicate a large quantity.
  • When used to describe a noun: 많이 μŒμ‹ (a lot of food).
  • When used to predicate a sentence: μŒμ‹μ΄ λ§Žλ‹€ (there is a lot of food).

Particle ~도

  • ~도 means also/too.
  • Replaces subject (/이/κ°€) or object (/을/λ₯Ό) particles depending on context.
  • Examples:
    • I speak Korean as well: 저도 ν•œκ΅μ–΄λ₯Ό λ§ν•˜λ‹€
    • I eat apples too: λ‚˜λ„ 사과λ₯Ό λ¨Ήλ‹€ (emphasizing the speaker), 사과도 λ¨Ήλ‹€ (emphasizing the object).
