exam is a test let's get right into our video before we do don't forget to check the description box to contact us for excellent online lessons the csac English b Paper 2 exam has three sections drama cruise and poetry you will be required to answer one essay question from each section that's a total of three essays you are going to be able to use the method I'm about to teach you for any English Beat paper 2 essay just for example in this video I'm going to be using the book 12th night Twelfth Night is a play that will be found in the drama section of the English b Paper 2 exam from May 2023 to January 2027. the play is set on the fictitious coaster villaria where a young woman disguises herself as a man and secretly falls in love with her employer who unfortunately for her is in love with another woman Yes you heard right 12th tonight by William Shakespeare is a crazy Pig and luckily most of you love the tea so let's begin our essay together it is a c-sec style question nothing is more noble than loyalty write an essay in which you choose two characters who are devoted to their employers for each of these characters describe the circumstances under which they show their devotion you must also discuss one similarity or one difference in their devotion and show how a dramatic technique is used to highlight that devotion in the play in my experience sisac English B essay questions usually have four parts here are the four parts this part is a quote that indicates the theme or situation the question will focus on our code is nothing is more normal than loyalty so we can reasonably anticipate that the following question will revolve around loyalty or any related theme second part you usually asks you to describe or discuss the circumstances in which a character experiences that type of situation here we are being asked to write an essay must you describe two situations when employee or servants in Shakespeare's 12th night is devoted to their employer now my lovelies it is very important to note that you are being asked to describe the circumstances for two different characters and each must be discussed adequately but don't worry I will show you how to do that later in the video so keep watching third part of the question can sometimes ask you to describe or disgust a character's response to the circumstances you just described here your task is it is to discuss one similarity or for one difference in the devotion displayed by the characters you just choose the final part of the seaside question almost always asks you to Identify and discuss as literary or dramatic device and your task is usually to show how the author playwright or forward uses that device to illustrate the aforementioned theme now that we have assessed what csec is asking us to do let's see how easy it can be to write our essays introduction many students complain that they are never sure how to begin so I'm going to tell you exactly how it's done try to ensure that the introduction to your csac English BSC captures your reader's interest to bring immediate Focus to your subject you may want to use a quotation a provocative question a brief anecdote a startling statement or a combination of these Additionally you must include the title of the work of literature and the name of the author you should also include a brief bit of background information relevant to the part of the question you have been asked your final sentence sorry your thesis statement must indicate what your essay will be about use your question as a guide a good introduction could sound something like this loyalty is the noble virtue that often defines the relationship between employers and employees or Masters and students as William Shakespeare once said love sort is good but given on sort is better this quote from his comedic play Twelfth Night captures the essence of devotion and loyalty portrayed by the characters in the play set in the fictional Kingdom of Illyria this tale of mistaken identity love and the complexities of human emotions follows the intertwining lies of characters who find themselves in various positions of service and devotion two contrasting situations of loyalty and explores the theme of devotion through the dramatic technique of dialogue now let's see let's see did we include all the parts necessary for us to get a good Seaside grade we've begun with a thoughtful statement and a quote from William Shakespeare himself this will definitely attract our examiner and introduce the theme of loyalty to the reader hair and blue you can see we've made sure to mention the name of the text we will be discussing and its author the middle of our paragraph we're also good to go we included background information to the text not too much just enough to informal reader about the issues related to our essay lastly in green the most important part of our introduction the thesis statement this says we will be discussing the devotion of Viola and magulio and analyzing the dramatic device of dialogue in the creek are you still there great now you get to see how to organize the body paragraphs of your essay to get the most Seaside marks should aim to do one body paragraph for every task the question has asked you to complete for each of those paragraphs I usually ask my students to pick p-e-e-p what is peep the first PNP is for your point is for your topic sentence which states what that paragraph will be about and what that paragraph is about is whatever part of the question that you will be answering the first e is for evidence provide evidence and examples to support your main point this can be quote or brief descriptions of relevant events from your c-sec play poem or prose if you said that you believe a character to be selfish in your point here is where you would give a quote of them seem something selfish or where you would describe whatever actions they took in the text that showed that they were selfish the second e is where you would give an explanation of your evidence say how and why that evidence supports your main point and the final p is where you simply restate your point in new words got it let's create a body paragraph together to practice on new skill okay so when you are attempting your secret question it's always good to double back to it and make sure that you're doing everything that the question asks so here's our question again just in case the first thing we are asked to do is to choose two characters who are devoted to their employers and for each of these characters describe the circumstances under which they show devotion well I recommend describing the devoted actions of each character in a separate paragraph that way we can ensure we p e e p for each and secure for c-sec marks we'll use our first paragraph on viola as an example of Peep all other body paragraphs will follow the same pattern Viola the protagonist and Shakespeare's me Twelfth Night is depicted as deeply devoted to her employer or Sino the Duke of Illyria Viola's loyalty and dedication to orsinu are evident throughout the play through her words and actions disguise as Cesario and Serling as orcino's speech she passionately delivers or seen us messages of love to Lady Olivia despite her own growing feelings for orsino viola States I'll do my best to woo your lady in act 1 scene 4. she goes above and beyond to carry out her duties this quote showcases violas and wavering commitment to fulfilling orcino's desires even though it causes her internal conflict furthermore Viola remains loyal to orsino even after Olivia expresses her feelings for Cesario and instead it tries to highlight or sino's character overall Viola's selfless acts and unwavering loyalty to orsino highlighted deep Devotion to her employer throughout the play alright so looky looky let's see if we did enough to get those marks from c-sec we made our Point we've provided sound evidence from the text to back up our point and we explained why and how that evidence those things that we've read in the text have led us to believe the point that we are making in this paragraph and finally we have reiterated why this is why we believe what we believe you should now follow this pattern for each of your body paragraphs of course if you do not follow these exact steps it does not mean complete strategy for your c-sec English B grade but this is the method I teach my students to ensure that they leave no marks on the table this method assures your examiner that yes you have read and analyzed the text and can apply your knowledge adequately after you have completed the body paragraphs for each of the things CSX requested of you you are ready for your conclusion your conclusion is probably the easiest part of your essay since it requires you to produce no new points all you must do is restate the thesis in different ways summarize the main point you have made or make a relevant comment about the literary route you are analyzing but from a different perspective do not introduce any new topics or points in your conclusion hair is on Sample confusion William Shakespeare's 12th night explores the complexities of devotion through the characters of Viola and magolio despite their differences in gender social class and personality both Viola and valvolia exhibit a deep Devotion to their employers Viola's loyalty is rooted in her love for arsenu and her willingness to sacrifice her own identity to serve him on the other hand malvolia's loyalty is driven by his ambition and desire for power through his use of dramatic techniques such as dialogue shape special cases the power of devotion I'm sure you've noticed that we have addressed all the things discussed in our essay in new words part one where we identify the devoted characters part two where we discussed their differences and part three where we describe how Shakespeare be utilized the dramatic techniques of dialogue to illustrate devotion in the play and that's it that's how you write a secret English bee essay I really hope that I have helped and good luck to you all don't forget to subscribe like and share bye
