Captain America: Brave New World

you don't need serum to be a super soldier at least we hope not Sam Wilson's Captain America is taking off for the first time on the big screen and the Brave New World has some worldclass problems for one thing they have a Hulk but what else is going on that you might have missed early in the trailer walking Torres Sam's Ally from Falcon and the Winter Soldier appears Torres inherits the Falcon mantle after Sam becomes Captain America in the comics and in an exclusive interview with Looper actor Danny Ramirez said he thought Torres could bring to the Falcon role in the MCU as well it appears that Captain America Brave New World intends to show just how Torres fares in one quick shot Sam flies alongside another person in a wing suit judging by its red and black color it sure seems like a Falcon costume where things get interesting is what kind of Falcon costume it resembles in March leaked promo art revealed the mcu's new Falcon would be wearing a yellow and green getup that's fairly similar to the costume Torres wears in the comics however from what we see in the trailer this wing suit seems to be patterned after Sam's more muted Falcon colors so it will be interesting to see what the costume will really look like once clearer footage emerges Captain America Brave New World features a prominent recast for Thunderbolt Ross with legendary actor Harrison Ford taking over the role for William Hurt I have to admit I'm still getting used to the new look hurt previously played Ross in a handful of movies including the Incredible Hulk Captain America Civil War Avengers Infinity war and Avengers endgame her's last appearance as Marvel's Secretary of State State came in 2021s Black Widow solo flick in 2018 her's battle with prostate cancer was revealed to the public in March 2022 he died due to natural causes at his home in Portland her's devastating death at 71 years old LED Marvel to recast Ross in the upcoming Captain America film The recast is happening as Ross gets a major new role in the MCU Ford's Ross is now president of the United States with the teaser showing off his dual role as the Red Hulk a transformation directly from the comics Ford expressed EXC M about taking on the part in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter saying that the MCU always looked fun to him from the outside I thought everybody else seems to be having a great time I watch all these terrific actors having a good time I like doing something different to what I've ever done and pleasing people with it so I'll try a piece of that the Red Hulk is here and from the looks of it cap is in a world of trouble the big red guy makes his grand entrance at the very end of the trailer letting out an animalistic Roar though the trail understandably keeps the character's full design and mystery a few things catch the eye apart from the obvious red color the main thing that seems to differentiate Red Hulk from the green Hulk we all know is that the former seems to have a somewhat slighter build from this angle at least his Roar also sounds somewhat different from the Hulk's distorted screams sounding more deeply Primal and almost elephant-like it's also worth noting that the cherry tree lined Park area where he's standing does make several appearances in the trailer including one where several destroyed cars lie in the middle of a a smashed Road perhaps this area is where the final showdown between cap and red Hulk takes place Global power is Shifting you're just a pawn at first viewing you might be unsure who's speaking but thanks to the trusty subtitles accompanying this teaser it's confirmed to be none other than Samuel Sterns another forgotten character that we've not seen since 2008's the Incredible Hulk initially an ally to Edward Norton's Bruce Banner Sterns was played by Tim Blake Nelson unfortunately our last encounter with him saw Sterns on the verge of a massive headache when some of Banner's blood got into a cut on his forehead sparking a mutation that would turn him into one of the Hulk's iconic Arch Rivals the leader in the comics this villain with superhuman intelligence telepathy telekinesis and even self- Resurrection debuted in Tales to astonish in 1964 and has been a long time thorn in the side of our not so Jolly Green Giant but could Brave New World see him more as friend than foe in the MCU spotted a little over a minute into the teaser making a call to Wilson Sterns looks to have already undergone his transformation with his hat doing a poor job of covering up his green veiny Cranium interestingly though he doesn't look to be the film's big threat considering his words of warning to Sam might Stern be the deep throat of this new chapter and prove to be more of an ally than the adversary fans expect him to be given his history with the Hulk in the MCU Sterns could very well be helping blow the whistle on some off the books testing that's been happening which he could have easily played a part in the kind that leads Sam to that ominous looking test facility that comes complete with notable red not green lighting John Carlo Esposito is a welcome Edition in the MCU but his role remains a mystery officially at least the trailer shows Esposito's gun wielding sunglasses rocking character in a number of scenarios but apart from being extremely armed and extremely cool there are very few clues about his identity however rumor has it that his character is none other than George Washington Bridge in the comics Bridge is a mercenary who's affiliated with shield and who also has connections to the mutant corner of the Marvel Universe thanks to a past working relationship with cable he's also clashed with the Punisher who set to make his MCU return and Daredevil born again if Esposito indeed turns out to be Bridge it's possible that Captain America Brave New World won't be the well-connected character's only MCU Rodeo could the MCU be setting Esposito up as a new Nick Fury style top spy whose Arc will take him through multiple projects one of the defining traits of fat is Thunderbolt Ross in both the MCU and in Marvel Comics is his trademark mustache however with Harrison Ford taking over the role Marvel is using the recasting as a chance to explain how Ross loses the facial hair with a meta comment pointing to it when Sam Wilson tells Ross he's getting used to his new look Ross responds they said lose the mustache or lose the election it makes sense there hasn't been a president with facial hair in over 100 years giving Ross no mustache makes it easier to explain why he doesn't have one when he transforms into the red holek as the comics have had the character in his Scarlet giant form both with and without the look causing a small amount of confusion about what actually happens to it when he hulks out plus with the mustache Ross's Red Hulk might look a tad goofy in live action as we noted cherry trees which are prominent in Washington DC can be seen throughout the trailer first there's a military funeral procession followed by Ross seemingly speaking to an audience attending the event after that we see a decimated motorcade Sam picks up his shield and he spreads his wings as a quinjet flees the scene plus Red Hulk makes his debut it's more than likely that all these shots are out of sync but we have to wonder who's being laid to rest we hate to say it but given his actions at the White House the chances are that forgotten hero Isaiah Bradley could be getting the special treatment the worrying thing to consider is that if Bradley is being laid to rest might his body have been studied for super soldier Secrets is that what Ross has used to transform into the newest rage monster on the Block the red string certainly lines up that way president has a history with Sam Wilson but he wants to make amends to push forward his agenda to bring Captain America back in the military fold Sam isn't so sure I want to make another run at making Captain America an official military position and if we disagree on how to manage a situation ross' idea isn't out of nowhere though in Captain America first Avengers Steve Rogers gets his powers in a government funded military experiment and works as part of the Armed Forces until he goes missing an action after he's discovered decades later he works as part of Shield's Avengers project though his relationship with the government eventually becomes strained since Ross has a long history of wanting to control superheroes in one way or another it's only natural that he wants to bring the one who's most intimately associated with the US under his command it's also understandable that Sam is deeply wary of the proposition considering his history with Ross this is surely what ends up driving the conflict between the pair Sam Wilson and president Ross might be on good terms at the start of Brave New World but it won't be lasting long thanks to the actions of Isaiah Bradley last seen getting the recognition he deserved in the Falcon and the Winter Soldier the legendary war hero seemingly becomes an unexpected gunman disarming a guard and firing on the president during an event from there the last remaining super soldier jumps out the Oval Office window in a setpiece that feels very similar to Nightcrawler's assassination attempt in X-Men 2 but what gives Bradley we thought you were one of the good guys well as clearly shown in the teaser the attack comes out of nowhere almost as if Isaiah has been activated to take action like a Manchurian Candidate or a winter soldier not a killer anymore you think you can wake up one day and decide who you want to be who was it then that flicked the switch on this living legend and does it have something to do with the examination room Sam finds later in the teaser it does have a similar aesthetic to the one Bucky wound up in when he was captured by Hydra we've known for a while that the new cap would be getting a wardrobe change we just didn't know what for now thanks to a stunning aerial sequence we know why after taking on henchmen on the ground and getting heated with the leader of the Free World one winning sight shows Sam Wilson clipping the wings of some fighter jets before going supersonic while wearing a Halo likee helmet and other equipment to handle such a feed now realistically a man in only a flight suit and Jetpack would most likely be ripped apart if even touching those kinds of speeds however this is a world where the president may or may not have been testing himself to be turned into an 8T Kool-Aid colored monster anything can happen right chances are that these newly revealed enhancements come from walking Torres who helped with Sam's gear on Falcon and the Winter Soldier and who as we mentioned appears to have also kitted out some new toys for himself one Split Second moment in the teaser May hold a hint about the movie's story in a blink and you'll miss it moment you can see ballistic missiles flying past the unmistakable hand of tiamut the celestial at the center of the climax of eternals speaking of blink and you'll miss it eternals the 26th film in the MCU also ended its theatrical run the 31st highest grossing putting it ahead of Just The Incredible Hulk and the Marvels is one of the series worst performers so if you're not a Marvel Mega fan you probably didn't see this one that makes it kind of remarkable that the big debut for the new Captain America is following up on that movie's events I am making a documentary about us there's been no indication that any of the actual eternals will be appearing in Brave New World but the hand of tiamut appears to at the very least be the backdrop for a big fight of some sort there there have been rumors that the hand may be linked to the discovery of adamantium in the MCU meaning the emergence of this Godly appendage might be sparking nothing more than a very human resource War that's just the kind of geopolitical problem you need Captain America to solve [Music]
