[Music] i'm going to be sharing with you what has been a classical thought and even a message that i taught on a two cd many years ago on a subject that everyone's probably at some point had happened to them and that is waking up at exactly three o'clock in the morning and i don't mean at 2 58 2 50. now you look at that clock and it will say 3. i once did a conference and i said how many of you have ever woken up at exactly three everybody just about it wasn't everyone but it was it was a large crowd almost everybody in the congregation raised their hand and i said how many of you it happens kind of consistently and i think it was about half the congregation that raised their hand on it so there's something mysterious about three o'clock in the morning now let me explain to you a few things about the time of jesus christ first of all the bible talks about in the bible watch as well as pray and that greek word means to stay alert and stay awake then there is another place where it talks about at the third watch of the night at the fourth watch etc and that is a time frame which the jews divided up into 12 hours and 12 hours they had they had six to six and then six to 6. you know jesus made a statement are there not 12 hours in the day well there's not there's 24 but what he was alluding to are there not 12 hours in which to work and that would be sun up to sunrise or 6 o'clock to 6 o'clock in the roman period however the romans divided the uh the day up into what's called watches now that's why a timepiece now this this this over here would be called a clock but when it's on your wrist it was called a watch and the reason it was called to watch is it was taken from this word that we're using here in the time of jesus there's something called the watches of the night and here's how the romans divided them up the first watch from was from six o'clock till nine o'clock at night the second watch was from nine to twelve midnight the third watch was from two to three in the morning and the fourth watch started at three in the morning till six and of course the fourth watch was eventually when the sun would be rising again so the sun set at six and it came up about six that's average of course you know that's average before daylight savings time and all that other stuff that we do now so watch matthew or listen to matthew chapter 12 25 and at the fourth watch of the night jesus went to them walking on the sea and i did some research and i noticed that it said that at a great while before day christ was up praying the disciples were not up yet but he was up praying now if the disciples were fishing they fished at night and so really somewhere between what we call on the roman time which would have been the uh the second watch into the third watch is when they fished on the sea of galilee now there's a reason for that they fish with nets not fishing poles and the fish during the day because it's very warm there it's it's below sea level they go deep at night the fish surface so the fishermen in galilee if you ever go on an israel trip and you stay at a hotel that's on the on the not on the water but near the water you'll see those fishing boats out there catching fish with nets oh i can't wait to go back i think now i think in the i think in the next year so i'm going to go to israel several times and just take a bunch of people with me because there is nothing like that those trips over there absolutely stunning and amazing anyway i don't want to get sidetracked but i've watched early in the morning when the sun's coming up across those mountains there in galilee i've watched those fishing boats and it is such a peaceful wonderful feeling but they fished at night that's why the disciples said we have we have worked all night and caught nothing but nevertheless jesus at your word will we we will go back out in the boat and of course jesus that was daylight already they knew those fish don't bite at daylight they don't they don't get in the net of daylight because they can see the net and of course they brought in the biggest catch you know when jesus has given you a word or when jesus is in your boat you're going to have a boat breaking a net breaking blessing coming your way well let me get back to three o'clock in the morning so jesus christ prayed at the fourth watch we know that from scripture now the fourth watch begins at three in the morning i never forget being in jerusalem in the early 1990s and i got into the discussion with a rabbi at the western wall by the name of rabbis v he was canadian he was a jewish man from canada and i asked him about three o'clock in the morning because one of the men that we noted there and i want to honor his great memory rabbi yehuda getz rabbi goetz had met with us sometimes he would come at about 11 o'clock at midnight and he would actually pray what we would call during the you know somewhere around 12 to 3 and 4 in the morning before the sun would come up and rabbis v told me he says according to some of the traditions that we have we believe that two hours before sunrise that god can visit the earth in a special way and if you're up praying or studying torah at that time that you can receive not only the inspiration and the illumination from god about about all sorts of things but that you will receive special blessings for praying at that time and this is why a lot of the men you don't you don't see it packed but some of the men who are more mystics they will pray from somewhere after between 12 to sunrise and especially the fourth watch which is three to six in the morning so when i said that i mentioned to the rabbi about three to six in the morning and i said jesus was praying then he said yes he understood this principle and part of the principle is that at three in the morning normally most people in your area if it's nighttime are asleep even those that are partying they're usually winding down asleep by that time if they probably they're drunk if they've been partying but three to six in the morning or three to five three four five in the morning are the time frames when the earth is much silent if you ever get up in your house at that time you and we have a porch i can i can sit there sometimes and you can just sense just total peace uh total quiet now the birds start chirping when the sun comes up of course they don't chirp much at night all creation sleeps and rest so there are some things one of the reason i'm sharing this with you is there's something special about three to six in the morning now i have also noticed that at the fourth watch of the night again this is the roman period that christ would have been praying how they divided the time frames up from six at sunset sunrise but i have noticed that some of my spiritual dreams or dreams that i have that have meanings seem to occur at some point after three o'clock in the morning i almost have never had a vision or a dream before three o'clock in the morning they come between three to six and they usually come right before sunrise if you remember when jacob was wrestling the angel and he wrestled a man all night until the breaking of day and when the sun was coming up the angel jacob was wrestling said let go i cannot stay and that's when he said of course i'll not let go to you bless me but the angel said i have to go in other words the angel was a night watchman a night guardian a night watcher and could not remain when the sun came up because his job was to go forth into the earth in the late hours of the night when the sun was not shining that's a hope that's another teaching all to itself so my point uh that i want to make to you is if you ever wake up at three o'clock be very sensitive because usually if you pray you can go back to sleep and you can actually receive something from the lord through a dream or a vision or through an inspiration a lot of times right when i wake up i actually can hear the voice of the lord i've had this on probably five major occasions where he told me something that actually came to pass and this and i don't hear an audible voice but i can hear the words i can actually hear it's like someone is speaking inside my head now i'm not crazy because the bible said jesus said my sheep here and know my voice but i knew that we were going to kill bin laden i heard the whole conversation right when i was waking up one morning many years ago and it happened one week later i've heard the lord tell me certain people were going to be married and that happened exactly the way the lord told me so three o'clock in the morning is significant so i'm suggesting to you that if you ever awake at three o'clock excuse me in your trouble you may be having a burden to pray for someone so don't ignore that time because there seems to be a period of time where there is this really tremendous peaceful open window of heaven during that time in the morning so you may be waking up at three o'clock because not only does the body renew itself according to some uh experts at about three in the morning preparing you for the next day and that may be why we wake up because of the chemicals and all the things taking place while we rest and that's that's a fact but it's also a spiritual application and that's the application i wanted to give you
