well this just got a lot more interesting as Jim Rutherford speaks out in his end of season press conference revealing the shocking details on Quinton Hughes's future with the Vancouver Conucks and going as far as saying the Vancouver Conucks could acquire not one but two New Jersey Devil superstars we're going to break down all this the major implications and much more so you're not going to want to miss out on this before we get into that we're just 40 subscribers away of our goal of 7,000 so if you haven't subscribed yet make sure to go down and hit that free subscribe button and in return we'll help you out keeping you up to date on everything to do around your Vancouver Canucks with that Griffin we got straight into the insane news that came out from Jim Rutherford himself we seen from a quote "It may not boil down to money with them." He said before he wants to play with his brothers and this was Jim speaking on Jack Hughes Quinn Hughes story looking at Quinn Hughes we know listen two years left on his deal going into next year so he has next year and the year after before coming a UFA at the age of 27 but it continues on where we seen Jim say and that would be partly out of our control in our control if we brought his brothers here so there's many moving parts here now looking at this I'm just going to kind of throw it to you what is your initial thoughts on Jim just coming out and just floating the idea that the brothers may reunite in Vancouver this is one of those moments where it's you're as a viewer and a fan you're watching going he's kidding right he's kidding maybe he's not kidding okay is he actually being serious here wait is this going to be something that happens that's kind of where we're at right now where Jim Rutherford clearly is just going "Hey maybe who knows why not?" and he's just joking about it but this is also something that the Canucks might actually want to try and do as a way to keep Quinn Hughes there because Quinn Hughes has said or it's been said that Quinn Hughes will not stick around if the Canucks do go into a rebuild era with him entering the prime of his career or being in the prime of his career right now so a way to do that you go and get his two brothers that would bring not not have to go closer to home but you bring home to Vancouver and make it where the all three Hughes brothers are playing on the same team and we can have almost like our stall trifecta within Vancouver hopefully working out a lot better for us and having just a bunch of star players in Vancouver now on the flip side of this and we'll get into it in probably in a bit is that the Devils are probably looking at this going "This is so much leverage that we have now." Because now we know that the Canucks want him they're going to be willing to pay top dollar we're just going to have to pay a dollar more but anything that we're going to do to keep it here and it'll be a lot easier for the Devils to bring Quinn Hughes over than the Canucks bringing both Hughes brothers over to Vancouver however you start with Luke that's a way to knock one domino down it's almost insane that we're talking about this as if it could happen because obviously Jim is joking here but thinking about it and considering it as a possibility that would be the first way of attacking this thing and trying to ensure you get one of them and definitely the younger one and one that isn't going to come with as big of a price tag or locked into a long deal like Jack is so yeah if you were going to go after it go after Lukey first and then bring him over but all in all I think Jim is just joking with this in the hopes that maybe something catches fire out of it cuz listen we know Jim wants to complete the Infinity Stones we've seen it with the Persons joining this team so why not go out and get the three Hughes to complete it but listen the big thing is we know that Jack Hughes wants to play with his brothers we know Quinn Hughes wants to play with his brothers luke Hughes is already playing with one of them so it is a matter of time this could happen now next year the year after 10 years from now they will all play together at some point in their career and we know this the fans know this everyone knows this and it seems like Jim is making a statement that listen if he wants to leave because of that we'll go out and try to acquire the three now listen trading Quinn Hughes would be ridiculous and a huge mistake we know how good Quinn is the best defenseman and I don't care about Caleb McCarth Hockey League at age 25 the captain of this team the heart and soul trading him would be a mistake now listen going out and getting Jack and Luke would cost quite a bit jack is under team control by the New Jersey Devils year three of eight going in next year will be year four so acquiring someone at 8 million yes the Conucks have the pieces to do it but Jack Hughes has so much value 23 years old 70 point season he was injured he's not playing in the playoffs 70 points we see them have a 40point season but it doesn't even stop there where we know Luke Hughes is another piece that would cause quite a lot of money i mean looking at Luke Hughes yes he is an RFA we're going to touch on the fact the Conucks could go out and put an offer sheet on but looking at Jack Bur this is the biggest thing griffin do you think the Canucks have the pieces to go out and acquire a star player like this i don't know if they got the draft capital to compete with that it's going to be very very tough unless they just stack a million draft picks and maybe a handful of prospects and maybe one maybe one decently star player it would suck to see a few guys lo lose at as a result of this because you know there's a lot of pieces you could go out and get for a guy like Jack Hughes but there's also a lot of pieces you could lose as a result and we've seen how chemistry is a big thing for this team where you might not want to jeopardize it in order to keep one player happy now that one player to keep happy is your captain and is Quinn Hughes who will be the next Bobby or so that's one thing that you do have to take into consideration where yeah you're making one player happy that one player is Quinn Hughes so with that in mind going after Jack Hughes would be a big thing to do i know the Canucks can afford it it's just whether they can they can afford it financially but can they afford it as far as draft capital or what it would take to go out and get him where the Devils are looking at going "Yeah that's a decent return we can afford to lose a guy like Jack Hughes who does wear an A on his jersey for our team and is one of our best players yeah he's not playing in the playoffs but when he's healthy absolutely one of the top five if not top three players on the New Jersey Devil and Luke Hughes is definitely rising up those ranks as well as being one of the best on that team so yeah Luke is coming off of a 925K contract but he's going to be worth a lot of money after this season so he's going to get paid a big offer and I can see the Devils trying to back up the Brinks truck not only as far as cash but also as far as term just to ensure that both Hughes brothers are going to be staying in New Jersey for the next seven years and listen the biggest thing is they can offer sheet this he is going to be restricted free agent heading into July 1st of this year so if Luke wants to wait and go into July 1st without a contract signed with this team we could see the Vancouver Conucks put an offer sheet on him listen he has been outstanding for the New Jersey Devils we've seen him get hurt in the last game it looks like he's clear to play in game two but look he's only 21 years old 44 points in 71 games this year 6'2 having a top two lefties of Quinn and Luke would be outstanding listen I'm going to say the names wrong in this video there's too many Hughes going around but going after Luke Hughes would be the easiest and I think the first step for the Canucks getting all three the biggest thing is and kind of like you alluded to with this if they want to play together New Jersey has the leverage they already have two of the three players they play on the East Coast in the United States where all three are from so they have the leverage to go out and maybe make a huge offer for the Canucks and listen if the Canucks go in a rebuild if they trade Quinn Hughes it's going to happen to the New Jersey Devils but this would be a total failure from the Canucks if they don't at least kick tires on these threes as I said 40 goal score in Jack Hughes previously 40 goal score we see Luke Hughes being a guy that has 44 points in his second season with the team i'm going to throw it to you Griffin listen looking at this Conucks team we know they have a lot of talents if there was a package around Pey a first Willander or Jonathan Leer Mackey for Jack Hughes and Luke would you do this from the Canucks side oh that's a that's a tough one i mean PD alone is like that makes it tough but then you throw in Willer and Leer Mackey those are two of your boys mind you that you are super high on so I'm very surprised that you threw those guys in there but going out and making that happen I'm I'm not sure i'm I don't know if I would make that deal i know everyone's gonna call me a person apologist and things like that and hold out hope that he's going to turn it around but this guy is still a 100point player and very much capable of it he still has a lot of lot of time left on that contract to earn what he is worth we haven't quite seen it at the start of it but it's not a matter of short term it's a matter of prospering long term and right now Patterson's just going through a short patch she's suffering long term and I think the Canucks will eventually prosper long term from it now if you have to give up Leer Mackey and Willander for Hughes for both Hugheses and maybe some other picks and someone that isn't Person I would make that deal but again that's going to be very tougher for New Jersey to do just because of how much money Person is getting paid how much money Jack is getting paid how much term is coming with both those players they're going to want a guy with term that they're not just going to have for two years and have to pay a bunch of money again so that's going to be making it really tough for Vancouver to do maybe and then people are going to come all over me and come attack me in the comments for it but Philip Heronic if you do move on from him to get Luke Hughes in there and then Jack Hughes becomes a little bit easier if you pair him with a prospect like that maybe that makes it a bit easier to navigate just because you're giving up a guy with Term that is really solid in Phil Heronic and you're not having to give up a massive superstar it would shake up the decor a lot but you would be able to get both Hughes brothers maybe as a result and what if you guys thoughts on this go down and leave a comment below what would you give up to bring in Quinn's brothers in Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes what kind of prospects what would the picks be i know majority is going to say Person and whatever it takes but let's be realistic here what would you give up to acquire these two players what direction do you want to see the Conucks go in and are you kind of worried with these kind of quotes coming out from Jim himself or do you think this is more just a leverage for the Canucks than the New Jersey Devils go ahead and leave a comment below while you're down there leave a like subscribe share this with your friends we'll be back with another episode so keep your eye for that but I've been your host Mark with my co-host Griffin and take care
